French fries were the same (all less than 2"). I choice the veggie if the day vs fries, small bowl of green beans fresh out of the can. Our server was excellent. She set up a table that my wife preferred to those that had already been set up. She brought our luncheon meals fairly quickly. We both ordered the Polish Platter. The small dish of sauerkraut was just the right amount and tasty., The serving of polish sausage was warm and tasty. The parsley potatoes were done perfectly and tasty. We chose a mushroom filled and a sauerkraut filled pierogis both of which had sparse filling. The cabbage roll was okay at best. It needed more flavor. Perhaps a slightly thicker sauce. Two slices of rye bread accompanied our meals. We arrived around noon time and found a parking space very near the bar/restaurant. The bar was filled to capacity with an obvious group of regular patrons. We plan to return to try some of their specials. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and pits a smile on your face from the moment you walk in! read more

Went here tonight, Friday at 8:30, and trying to find parking was very difficult. All of the parking spots on the street were taken, I didn't see a private parking lot. It was snowing out and there was nobody shoveling around the restaurant so walking was difficult. The place was really busy, but it was starting to lighten up, the kitchen closed at 9:30. They sat us at a table in the main dining room and what I noticed was that most people know each other in the place, it really seems like a neighborhood hotspot. The place is littered with tons of Irish memorabilia on the walls and had a nice Christmas tree in the corner. It does seem very dated but that was expected at a local place like this. I told the waitress it was my first time in here and she was super friendly and told me about their popular dishes such as cabbage rolls, fish fry, and peirogi. The cabbage rolls sounded good but they were sold out. We went with the fish fry and a draft coors light. They also gave us a few pieces of rye bread and butter to munch on while we wait. The bread was really hearty, the waitress told me it was from Mazureks Bakery in Buffalo. I'll have to stop by there one day. The dinner plates came out really fast but I was surprised to see so little on the plate. Two small pieces of battered haddock, a spoonful of coleslaw, and about a dozen french fries (at most). You would expect a good sized portion from a local place, but not here. Fortunately the fish and fries were cooked well and tasted good. The coleslaw was creamy but unexciting. I placed my dinner aside as I wanted dessert, and the banana cream pie listed on the blackboard had my eye. Unfortunately, the waitress told me they were sold out of the banana cream and gave me a couple of other options. I went with the cherry pie, heated, a la mode. It wasn't anything to write home about, the crust was too soft and doughy. They only accept cash here, which I find is such a pain for us customers. I always roll my eyes when I see a small old place only accept cash, but somehow still have room to install the latest electronic ATM. read more

You know when there's like a billion chairs that a person could possibly sit in but they're like "nah bruh, I'm sitting the one next to you." This was that incident. You can pick a seat, any seat, including the bar and in a room full of tables, they plunk down directly next to us. Going to be honest; it actually helped me review here. After reading through a concise, yet well made menu and being offered the daily specials, we took turns going to the bathroom. As I waited for my man to return I took in the Notre Dame and belated Easter theme, I hummed along to some classic rock. The waitress swung by with a bowl of perfectly thick bread and butter, and shortly after my salad. Drool alert, the cheese is fat, and not that scrappy crap that some restaurants try to pass off as real dairy. For under 20 buckaroos, including a fair tip, we ordered crab cakes and all four of their pierogies. The cakes tasted of real crab, and were crispy, like a seafood chicken nugget. We took them with tartar sauce, smartly doctored with dill. (Smear some of that goodness on the bread my dudes.) Now for the mildly heart breaking part. My man is a bit of a pierogi snob, having tasted (name redacted for the sake of not starting a restaurant war) pierogies and gave them a three outta five. The best was the mushroom, followed by the creamy cheese, a surprisingly dry sauerkraut, and original potato in dead last, being labeled as bland. The side of sour cream helps move things along. The waitresses know the regulars by name, and will patiently explain the menu to those who ask. This meal is made for you, not some one size fits all nonsense. If only it was open for more than a few hours. Slap your cash on the table, and be sure to turn the doorknob to the right or get trapped like these two idiots who don't need to get locked in to be convinced to return back. read more

This is an old neighborhood bar with a backroom restaurant. The décor is a100% tribute to Notre Dame football. Cash only is accepted. I enjoyed the Polish platter, but it wasn't as much food as I thought it might be. There were two pierogi that were on the small side, but I did enjoy the mushroom one in particular because you don't always see that filling offered. The piece of smoked Polish sausage was also not very large. The biggest item was the cabbage roll, which was definitely good-sized and filling. The parsley potatoes were fine. Perogi's, kielbasa, cabbage rolls, beef on weak, parsley potatoes, all were outstanding! And don't forget to leave room for dessert! The cream pie cake and bread pudding were spectacular! Whenever I have called for a takeout order, the phone is answered with rudeness and then slammed down to be "on hold" for several minutes while I listen to the conversation at the bar in the background. No one ever came back to answer the phone this time after 9 minutes on hold, so I gave up. Dining in gives you service and food, but not too friendly. Hire more help? This place is an absolute nightmare. I called and the waitress asked me to hold and set the phone down. I was on hold long enough to drive the 15 minutes there, walk in, see the phone on the counter and the waitress talking to the other staff. Then tell me in person I had to hold on as she picked up the phone, that's when I took my phone out of my pocket and put it to my ear and tell her what a joke she is. Visiting family back home in Niagara Falls, I made it a point to try Gadawski's for a fish fry. My impression was positive from the moment I turned the corner and saw cars parked up and down the street in this rather desolate neighborhood. I was glad to make reservations the day before. The bar and dining area was all I expected. Vintage 70s decor, predominately with Fighting Irish paraphernalia. After a short wait, we were lead to our table. The waitress was prompt with our drink order, impressive on its own considering how busy the place was. Skipping ahead to the food, I ordered the fried haddock with 'parsley potatoes'. Both were excellent. My son thoroughly enjoyed his fish and fries and really enjoyed their cole slaw, which I understand they make by shredding the cabbage in house. I sampled my cousin's broiled fish. After doing so, I realized I should've requested a split order. The fish was broiled to perfection. My father ordered the Manhattan Clam Chowder. He found it very tasty and with tender clams. When leaving, the owner photo bombed us, which was hysterical. We took advantage of it being a Friday evening to visit the Holy Trinity Historical Church located near by. It is a beautiful structure inside and out. I grew up in Niagara Falls, and am proudly half-Polish. This simple, family-run bar / restaurant perfectly captures the spirit of the dwindling blue-collar Polish-American neighborhood around it. Now, the neighborhood is a little run-down and sketchy, but don't let that deter you. The decor is slightly kitschy, with TONS of Notre Dame memorabilia plastering the walls. The service is always friendly, albeit a bit frazzled at times. Can't blame them; the place is typically packed on the weekends. The Polish dishes are all sure to satisfy, with authentic pierogi, kielbasa, and golumpki. Just like my Baba makes! Seriously, come hungry, cuz you're gonna need all the stomach space you can muster. After our debacle at Western Door I had very little faith in my fellow yelpers. I was told by my Significant Other, that Gadawski's would be the place that we were going to turn our food sorrows into some "YOM NOMS" and finally gets some good eating in Niagara. Also during this conversation he had convinced me to walk 12 blocks for it. When we arrived you could tell that this is the place that all the locals go to. The place isn't huge and I would imagine during the dinner hour this place will get packed as the menu features delicious polish classics for very reasonable prices. We tried a variety of the perogies and all of them were fantastic. We also had some of the polish sausages which were moist and delicious. Skip the restaurants that are closer to the falls and walk the 12 blocks to this place as it was most definitely worth it. read more

It's very quaint and cozy inside and the decor lets you know what and who the owner loves. We had the pierogis, the fisherman's platter, Mac and cheese, and some dessert. I love this place. it is down home, unpretentious and the food is delicious and quite the bargain. Everything tasted home made and very fresh. It is an old fashioned atmosphere, sports memorabilia everywhere and not fancy. The wait staff is extremely friendly and helpful and very respectful to the seniors who seem to frequent this place. Been going here on and off since 1997, and I gotta say it has never changed. I walk in and their food is still delicious, and the perogis taste the same from my childhood. The servers are all really quick, efficient, and very great to talk with. Their portions are just right and always cooked right. I grew up in Niagara Falls and I have been going there since I was a kid and my parents went when they were kids so it's kinda a family thing.
