Evidence points to failure due to high competition in the food court (notably beside McDonald's) and the challenges of establishing a new international brand in the U.S. market, leading to a quick closure. Reddit According to community reports on Reddit in March 2026, the location was boarded up, the phone number was disconnected, and it was removed from delivery apps." This kind of action saddens me, because two weeks earlier (maybe), my wife and I ate there for what was our last time. The last item I had on their menu was Its MyThyme. This along with the Crispy Mozzarella Balls. My Favorite Items were the #1 Chef Pan, #3 Chesey Rosemary, #6 Its My Thyme and #4 Teri & Yaki, but not necessarily in this order. Oh, did I mention I liked the Crispy Mozzarella Balls too? I have visited this place 14 times and I thought there would be a 15th time, but "Alas Poor Yorick, Nevermore." I remember the simple but peaceful vibe and ambience the place gave off. The $14.99 meals were fantastic/flavorful, filling and inexpensive. We enjoyed talking to the managers of the establishment. They always made sure food arrived in a timely manner and fixed problems should they occur. I unfortunately do not remember the name of the managers of the restaurant, but I thank them for their services. I would have to say up until Gagawa came to the United States Of America, (formerly Tavuk Dünyası), I have never had Turkish Cuisine before. I now know I have been missing out on great food. Both my wife and I truly enjoyed eating at this restaurant. There are a few reasons I think could have improved the restaurant's business, but managers informed me The owner would never do this. Here is an example of an idea for guests I had..., but first the basics: Ordinarily you would order say...(It's My Thyme #6), you would aquire Your the flavored meat, pasta, (either pesto or tomato not both) or rice and salad. You could get two rice, two Pastas (of the same flavor) or two salads if you didn't want one of these items. I thought it would help guests if you could mix and match items. Say one Pesto and one rice instead of salad for example. This option was done once then quickly reversed the next time I came back to the restaurant. I was informed this "isn't an option." I had talked about the option of Los Tres Pollos (The Three Chickens) where you might order a the chicken meats of your favorite meals..., say number 1, 3 and 6 for a very favorable meal. This idea was shot down too. I am sure people would have paid $19.99 to try this option of meats or soy items. "Potential Causes For Closing Down: Observers on Yelp noted it was located in a crowded, competitive fast-food court." The inability to adapt to ideas of improving the food options of restaurant, the cognitive rigidity of not listening to guests who had ideas of attracting more guests helped bring about the down fall of this business. My wife and I saw this place needed more people to come eat here, but the owner was steadfast in his ways and wouldn't take creative input. "And as the flames climbed high into the night, to light the sacrificial rite I saw Satan laughing with delight The Day the Music Died." and so folks, the end of Gagawa is upon us. Who will take the place of this restaurant, I can not say. Let's hope the new restaurant has the sense to adapt and overcome or history might repeat itself. Gagawa recently opened and I wanted to check it out before viewing a movie at AMC. Located on the first floor of Tyson's Food Court, Gagawa is right across from California Pizza Kitchen. Since it's an open area, you can pick from getting served by a waiter, sitting down at any table and ordering via QR code, or ordering through a touch screen. I opted to sit down and order via QR code, which made it easy. You can pay through your phone without having to get up or flagging someone down. I started off with ordering seasoned sprinkle cut potatoes, or just fries with zaatar seasoning. They were fried good and I had no issues finishing all of it. This left me on a good impression the rest of the food will be great too. I wanted to try what was recommended so I got the Chef's Pan Recipe, Pasta with Tomato Sauce, and Mediterranean salad. When the plate came out, it was long! I was honestly shocked by how much food you are getting for such an affordable price. The Chef's Pan recipe consisted of chicken thigh meat marinated to deliver a unique taste, with shallots, fresh mushrooms and peppers. Along side with the pasta and the Mediterranean salad, it was delicious and filling. I am in awe of how good this place is. I would come back for more since the food came out so quick. I had an amazing experience at Gagawa in Tysons Mall! The lady at the front, who I believe is the manager, was absolutely awesome, and the young lady at the cashier were both incredibly friendly and welcoming. They took the time to explain the menu and different food options, which I really appreciated. I ordered the build-your-own bowl with sweet chili chicken, and it was outstanding--everything was so fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The rice was especially impressive: fluffy, tasty, and cooked just right. To top it all off, they were kind enough to offer me free tea and their delicious rice pudding with hazelnuts, which was amazing and such a thoughtful touch. At Tyson's late and the mall was closing. Found this place open and boy were we happy we did! The cashier person who took our order was friendly and helped us choose what to get based on our taste. He was patient because we changed the order like 3 times. The food came out in 10 minutes and we all loved our dishes. We had a good amount of food and had to pack it to take it home. First off, the photos in the menu don't look appetizing, but the pictures are very misleading, the food was really good! We ordered the grilled halloumi cheese appetizer, which came with a really good smokey jam to dip it in. To be honest, I prefer pan searing the cheese rather than the grill, but the taste of the jam more than made up for the fact it is not pan seared. Unfortunately, this time, the experience wasn't as good. The service was lackadaisical (I always liked that word). We were left standing at the mall entrance for several minutes before someone offered us a table. It took a long time to get menus, then longer for our drinks, and then about 15 minutes before anyone came over to take our order. This was all while the gentleman, who I would guess was the manager, stood by and watched. There's a problem with their soda machine. The Coke tasted bad. That happened last time, too, and I had thought it was just a fluke. I also noticed something that I would call inappropriate for this type of restaurant. They charge $3 for water. Where do they think they are, the Inn at Little Washington? Wait, even at their level, they don't charge for water. That said, let's get back to my original review, already in progress... I had never heard of Gagawa before. A friend suggested we grab lunch here before our movie. Now I can't wait to go back. I have only two "complaints." The first is that the portion sizes are MUCH larger than some pictures imply. Going in, I was expecting to pay main course prices for small plate quantities. Nothing could be further from the truth. That brings me to my second complaint. Gagawa put me in the uncomfortable position of having to leave food that I really wanted to eat. There was just too much to finish and I couldn't take the leftovers into the movie. I suggest that you consider one entree, perhaps with an appetizer, to share between two people. I was surprised to hear this was the first location in the United States, as they're originally from Europe! The concept is interesting, you are able to build your platter by selecting a type of chicken/protein, pasta, and salad. Pasta is alright, tasty enough, nice filler carb side. Decent portion size for the price, and nice unique presentation style. My main issue was the service. There is the ability to order via QR code on the table, but trying to get ahold of anyone when there was a problem, was quite difficult. Also one member of our party had the wrong order sent to them twice unfortunately. By the time the order came back and it was wrong the second time, they decided to just keep it and eat it as is. During a recent shopping trip at the mall, my friends and I stumbled upon Gagawa, a new Turkish restaurant that piqued our curiosity. Despite having never heard of it before, we decided to give it a try, and boy, are we glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Sangül, our delightful hostess, who welcomed us warmly and shared the story of Gagawa. She explained that all their meats are marinated for over 12 hours, which immediately heightened our anticipation for the meal ahead. The restaurant had a cozy vibe, with just the right amount of patrons, making it feel inviting without being overcrowded. The decor is absolutely stunning! As a plant lover, I was enchanted by the ceiling adorned with greenery. The vibrant colors throughout the restaurant perfectly showcased the fresh ingredients and spices used in their dishes, creating a calming and appetizing atmosphere. Our server, Akif, was incredibly helpful and attentive. He provided us with placemats featuring pictures of the menu items and explained how the ordering process worked. Each meal comes with a choice of salad, rice or pasta, and a selection of 15 different meats--a bit overwhelming at first, but Akif's recommendation of the Sriracha chicken at spice level three made our decision easier. We kicked off our meal with the hummus, and let me tell you, it was divine! The flavor was rich and creamy, and it came with three pieces of warm bread, which we quickly devoured. The flavors were a delightful symphony, and the salad, topped with a delicious raspberry vinaigrette and sprinkled with sunflower seeds and fresh fruit, was a refreshing complement. My friends also enjoyed their meals: Mai had the Chef's pan with pesto pasta and salad, while Sasa opted for the La Fiesta with rice and salad. Each dish was well-prepared, juicy, and bursting with flavor. To cap off our wonderful dining experience, we indulged in a rice pudding hazelnut dessert that absolutely knocked our socks off.
