    FRIED CALAMARI
    Boobie D.

Came for a birthday celebration. We had a reservation && had to wait about 20Min to be seated but once we were our server && service was great. Only part that was kind of blah is that our tables were separated for 15 people in same little section This place is loud and there was a saxophone player which was cool. For a Tuesday let me say it was packed but a vibe. A lot of people standing around but that's just folks not knowing how to interact. All the food we got was good and pricing was great. Salmon lollipops, calamari, sauteed spinach, sliders and old fashions. Everything was good-THANK YOU FOR OUTDOING MY EXPECTATIONS. SN: Bathroom line stays long and busy!

My non-Yelp friend told me GAIA Superclub was super slick and that I'd love it. At that time, GAIA was relatively new and reservations were tricky, so it took me a while to see for myself. He was right, GAIA is definitely a VIBE! Very chic, soft lighting, contemporary decor, sexy music in the background.. Okay, you got that covered, but what about the food?!?! No worries there.. The food in my DC native tongue was "Like That"!.. Lol!! Meaning, good as h*ll! We enjoyed the calamari, skirt steak, grilled octopus, Gambas Al Ajillo and lobster mashed potatoes.. Delicious is an understatement! Hats off to the chef! GAIA is the latest sexy Mediterranean restaurant that's been popping up throughout the city and it can definitely hold its own! If you want great food and an atmosphere that matches, definitely come to GAIA for a date night they'll remember!.. you can thank me later! :)

The Steak , the Bronzino and the Grilled Octopus were my favorites . The service felt a little rushed since they kept clearing the table while we were still eating, which was a bit off-putti But overall, good vibes, great food, and good drinks. I would definitely go again

Branzino was HUGE and so good

Ok, let's start with the only thing they got right: the ambiance. It's beautiful, chic, dimly lit, and very "IG aesthetic." Perfect for pictures and a cute girls night. But don't get too comfortable because the place is small and packed. And parking in DC? A complete nightmare before you even step inside. Now the crowd... early evening was a vibe. Calm, cute, enjoyable. After 9pm? Whole different scene. Choose your time wisely. The service started off decent, nothing special. Then at the end, it went downhill fast. We asked about dessert and instead of taking our order like normal, the waiter basically dismissed us and brought out random, bland ice cream like we were like, "huh, is you cool, dude?. No explanation, no effort. It felt very much like "you've been here too long, wrap it up." Completely turned me off. Now let's talk about the food, because this is where they really lost me. Our apps/starters came out lukewarm, which already had me side eyeing the kitchen. We tried the caviar golden nuggets, calamari, and lamb racks. Everything was just good. Not amazing but just good, ya know? Then the entrées /mains came out hot, I'll give them that. Skirt steak was seasoned well, branzino was cooked properly, and the lobster pasta tasted rich in the moment... BUT LET'S TALK ABOUT THE AFTERMATH: That same lobster pasta had me and my friend's stomachs on absolute FIRE later (food poisoning). Not a little discomfort. I'm talking headache, stomach twisting, questioning every life decision that led me there. At that point, I don't care how cute the place is. That is unacceptable. How are you going to serve poisonous pasta??? So now I'm sitting here thinking... what exactly did I pay for? Because it definitely wasn't a luxury dining experience. Final verdict: Cute for pictures, terrible follow through. Between the disrespectful ending to the service and the way that food had us feeling after, I will NOT be returning. Ever. Gaia Supperclub DC: pretty face, ugly experience!

First things first, do not drive here unless you enjoy a parking situation that will test your character. On the bright side, you're right next to Stan's, so dinner at Gaia and a strong drink next door makes for a solid night out regardless. The space is gorgeous, elevated, the kind of decor that feels curated. But it's smaller than the hype suggests, which explains the strict two-hour dining limit. Main dining or the Atrium are your options; the real difference comes down to when hookah service starts. Our server was pleasant enough knowledgeable about the menu when you needed him, but the pacing was off. The food had its moments skirt steak, branzino, and calamari were all genuinely good. But the overall experience felt like it was riding its reputation harder than earning it. The Tuesday night event draws the crowd, and once you're actually in that space with the clock running, it lands differently than the reviews had me expecting. Prices are as elevated as the aesthetic, so come with your budget adjusted accordingly. I enjoyed it for what it was just not the experience I was sold. Maybe a summer visit changes the energy. For now, I'm in no rush to return. UPDATE: 2 of my friends became ill and we're thinking it's the lobster pasta. I'm the only one who didn't eat it. Yikes. Definitely be on the lookout for that one.

I've been to Gaia a few times since they've opened and I've seen a decline in the service and the ambiance. It is supposed to be where you go for an elevated experience but my last visit left me questioning if I would visit again. There was a large party with sneakers and booty shorts. Just not what I expect to see in a supper club. And the hostess came over to our table 15 minutes before our allotted 2 hours and told us we had to get up and stand to the side. Excuse me!? Nah, I'm good.

Not a bday, holiday, or event just a random Sunday in February, the occasion - ME! My friend picked a few other choices before we decided on this place for dinner. His exact words, wow you've been everywhere. Then he said what about GAIA and honestly I had NEVER heard of this place so GAIA it was. We intended this to be dinner but unfortunately the brunch menu lasted until 6 p.m. That was a bummer because my friend raved about the pasta! Ambiance: Upscale! Too cute! A vibe! SEXY! DRESS ALL the WAY UP! Why? You'll be out of place if you don't! Of course, I came over dressed and fit in perfectly. They do allow hookah but it's in its own little area. I didn't feel smoky at all. Can we talk about the owner for just a few? Okay Gorgeous! This beautiful little itsy bitsy Ethiopian woman sitting in HER restaurant is drop dead gorgeous! Shhhhhhesh! Lucky for me I got to meet her. Thanks for coming by to say hello, not only are you a beauty but you're so sweet and kind! Food came out quick! Nice! Let's get into it! Mango Mimosa - YUMMY -easy to drink $18 Skirt Steak - Served with eggs! Great meal! Shrimp and Grits - Delicious! Dessert - Champagne - why not! Food and drinks were amazing! Service - perfection! This is where the cool kids come. You should too! Surprised I had not heard of it! He's a foodie, so in his tastebuds I trust and he says we are coming back for the dinner menu! I'm all in!

I visited Gaia for the first time in late August 2026 with a girlfriend as part of our little adventure trying new, elevated dining experiences -- and it did not disappoint. The live saxophonist was phenomenal, engaging the whole room and keeping the energy alive. The DJ vibes were also on point, with great tunes of Kaytranada, house music, and lofi tracks -- perfect if you love a good music mix. We went during happy hour, and the place filled up fast. The space is somewhat small, so it got crowded, but that just shows how much of a vibe this spot has. Later in the evening, we were able to find seating and truly enjoy the experience. The food was excellent. The calamari was tasty, and my braised rib was full of flavor with well-balanced seasonings. Drinks were great, too. I considered trying hookah, but it felt slightly overpriced. Overall, Gaia is a fun, lively spot -- perfect for dinner, drinks, or just soaking in the music and vibes. I'll definitely be back.

Overall, I had a great time at GAIA! Arriving at the reservation time, we were seated promptly. The decor is very sleek -- everything you would expect. It was dimly lit with music playing. Apparently, there is a live DJ on the weekends. I must go back to experience that. For starters, we had the crispy calamari and grilled octopus. The calamari was fried perfectly and was accompanied by banana peppers. I love banana peppers, so that was a lovely addition. While the octopus was tasty, I did find it to be a bit tough. It was difficult cutting with a butter knife. Tzatziki sauce and olives were plated with the octopus, which balanced it out. I would get the octopus again, but would be cautious. For entrees, we enjoyed the Skirt Steak, Gambas Al Ajillo, and Lobster Mash. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly -- medium well, and tender. The shrimp dish came out piping hot! The shrimp sat atop spinach (a bit salty) and tomatoes. As for the lobster mash, the flavor was there! However, it would have been a little easier to eat if the lobster was cut instead of a huge claw plopped on top of the potatoes. Good...but could have been better executed. All-in-all, a good time. I want to go back and try other dishes. Enjoy!

Recently, I was invited to a work-related event at GAIA Restaurant in downtown DC. Since I arrived early, I had time to explore a bit for review purposes. My first impression, the curb appeal was interesting with shiny displays and a roped and carpeted entryway. Once inside, coat check is available. Across from it is bar seating. However, the bar is partially separated by a wall, with the larger portion located on the other side. Speaking of the bar, I decided to order a drink. I tend to gauge bar service by how well they make my favorite cocktail, an Amaretto Sour. Theirs was fair, but I most likely wouldn't order it again. That said, the bartender was cool and kind. From there, I walked around to check out the décor. I'd give their design style an 8/10. I also made a quick stop in the restroom. While it was clean, it lacked a coat hook and tissue (not TP), so I'd rate it a 7.5/10. By then, guests had arrived and it was time to order. The menu is tapas-style, so I chose the wings, lamb sliders, and grilled lamb chops. I thoroughly enjoyed the chops and sliders, but the wings tasted as though they had experienced frostbite. I also sampled a few items from a friend's plate, and those options were good, too; he really liked his selections. Overall, GAIA Restaurant is a nice Washington, DC dining option. I love tapas-style cuisine, and the hostess and waitress were personable and engaging. The atmosphere, music, and overall noise and conversation level were all enjoyable. Recommendation: It's a good choice!

How close we were to the next group of people. No one could get out unless everyone got up

This place has good food and a good atmosphere, but some funky policies. I shared with 2 girlfriends from my gym that I had not been here and they both raved about it and convinced me to step outside. We had a reservation for 9PM. At 9:10PM we still had not been seated, but everyone deserves some grace. There was a coat rack and we had to inquire about that. It seemed like they were confused that we asked about it, but alas they took our coats as well. Now let me tell you about our table... we were in the back in a corner so close to the next table that I could not slide between the two tables. I added a picture in case you were curious about how much space. It was less than 6inches. Every time anyone had to get up everyone at the table had to stand up and then we were still so close to the table behind us our butts were brushing against their table. I have 0 complaints on the food. I ordered crab cake, brussel sprouts and calamari. All of it was amazing! We wanted hookah which we asked about when we were seated and informed it was not available until 10PM. Not a problem. At 10:15, we asked for a hookah and our waitress sad we were not allowed to order it because we had a 2 hour limit at our table (not posted on their website). I was confused and annoyed because we are still ordering, she never mentioned that there was a table time limit. We were out for a good night. Finally, she said well you can order but you will only have an hour to smoke. we said "ok". It took another 20+ minutes for the hookah to come and I asked if the hour started once we got it. Mind you the table behind us and the table by the bathroom (larger party) got there before us and were still there not being rushed to leave. She said sure to the 1 hour post receiving the hookah. That did not take place. 40 minutes in she was rushing us out the door. The 3 of us spent $470. I really wish there was just more care in how you share or communicate policies and be fair.

I went to Gaia to celebrate my friend's birthday! I was pleasantly surprised! I'm one to believe it's hard for a location to have both the ambience you see on tik tok and have high quality food. At Gaia you can get both, just order right! I enjoyed my lobster pasta 4/5 and devoured my leftovers after the night ended! The saxophonist is vibe and so was the music! I felt like I was in Miami for a second. It was also a great place to watch the Anthony Joshua fight. The hookah is very pricy, starting at $90 I believe. If you're looking for a vibe and want to hang out with a larger group, this is the spot.

I finally made it to Gaia Supperclub after having it on my list for a while, and even with the mixed reviews, I truly enjoyed the entire experience! For my drink, I ordered the Enough Is Enough which is like a chocolate-covered-strawberry espresso martini but with tequila. It was unlike anything I've ever had and I really loved it! For appetizers, we shared the crab cake, lamb empanadas, and charred shrimp. For entrées, we went with the braised beef short rib and the Mediterranean-style bronzino, paired with fried plantains and the crispy Latin Brussels sprouts. We enjoyed every dish, though I will say the plantains weren't sweet, so they likely weren't ripe enough. Otherwise, everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, intimate but not cramped with a quiet, moody ambiance that's perfect for date night. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, from the hosts who greeted us as soon as we walked in to our server who made wonderful recommendations. He even noticed I was struggling to dig into the bronzino and proactively offered to debone it for us, which I really appreciated. All in all, a lovely dinner experience, and I'm already looking forward to going back!

I walked a little back and forth, but.. no. Across the street, I saw another Mexican restaurant on the corner, but it looked closed, or even shut down. Maps told me it should be there. Looking across the street my eyes were drawn to the second floor, and a series of neon lights for a tarot card reader and psychic. Taking this as a sign, I crossed. That's when I found Benito's and realized that it's neon sign was out. Walk too fast and you might miss it. A narrow door aside a bay window lit from inside. It's a small place with a warm, cozy feeling. Benito's is very much a neighborhood Central American restaurant, but FYI: no alcohol. Started with guac and chips, usual fare, delicious but nothing that singled it out. I ordered the Pollo a la Plancha and it was rather good. The chicken was grilled through but not tough, it still had moisture and you could cut it. Rice, greens, etc. and the small 2oz solo of black beans, all standard fare. The corn tortillas were interesting, not your usual thin tortillas, so it took my mind a moment to consider what I was holding. It had the thickness of a pancake, maybe a sope base, and reminded me of thick, handmade tortillas when you don't have the press. Curiously, the tortillas were not the same that my friend got with his Mole Poblano, which were thin. Granted, it was a cold Tuesday evening, but in two hours only two other individuals came in to eat. Seems like they do brisk take away business. I expect on a warmer night with higher foot traffic this place fills up quickly. The service was great, did not want for anything. We were served with two containers of sauce, green and orange. Ostensibly green chili, and habanero, I did not learn specifically however. When I dine in DC I can't help but confront the blunt question: Was it worth it? Yeah, it's good food, good people, and a good place. You'll feel comfortable there and leave full. But the price of dining out is too damn high, and this meal is on the higher side of what, ten years ago, would have been $15. I fear that prices will continue to be pushed higher and places like Benito's might disappear, so get over there because the food excellent, the people are nice, and it's just a warm space to hang out for an hour or so talking to an old friend.

The issues weren't limited to Peruvian dishes. The kafta sandwich was dry and completely lacking flavor, and a simple salad my wife ordered came with poorly seasoned dressing. Overall, the kitchen seemed to miss the mark on both sides of the fusion concept. To make matters worse, two classic Peruvian dishes--anticuchos and jalea mixta--were unavailable. The explanation given was that they had run out after Saturday night service, which is hard to justify when we visited at 1:30 PM on a Sunday. The restaurant was nearly empty at that time, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign. All in, we spent $225 for a family of four including tip, which is more than double what the experience was worth. I would rate this place 2 out of 5 stars and would not return.

The mashed potatoes were watery and very salty, and the broccoli was literally sitting in so much water that almost half of the bowl was full of it. The rice tasted like microwave rice, and the French fries were just ordinary fries. The biggest disappointment was the meat. It was extremely fatty, chewy, and had almost no flavor. The chicken was overcooked and tasted like leftovers that had been reheated. For an Argentinian restaurant, the quality and preparation of the meat should be one of the highlights, but unfortunately, it was the complete opposite. Honestly, we could barely eat our food and ended up leaving most of it. What made the experience even worse was that, despite barely being able to eat the food, we were still charged half of the meal. The total bill was over $85, and that included $5 for a small cup of what tasted like microwave rice. Just in case the food looks half-empty in the pictures, we did put some of the food onto our plates to try it. Unfortunately, we couldn't eat it, so that's why some of the containers look partially empty. As someone who was genuinely looking forward to trying Argentinian food, this experience was incredibly disappointing. In my opinion, this restaurant does not represent the quality or flavors that people expect from Argentinian cuisine. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant, and I would not return.

The ceviche is really good, can never go wrong with ceviche, especially if you're going tapas style. The ají de gallina, lomo saltado and lamb are so freaking good, the meat is tender, the sauces are perfection, and when you mix the rice to with the sauce it's absolutely delicious. Heard about this place a while, finally tried it out a couple times now, already can't wait to go back!

You can definitely taste some Cantonese influences. Corazón: Very unique. The beef heart was grilled very tender, and the spicy and tangy dipping sauce was refreshing. I've also never had such large kernels of sticky corn before. Lomo Saltado: Similar to Cantonese black pepper and beef cubes stir-fry, but noticeably coarser. The meat was a bit tough and dry, the sauce didn't coat it well, and it wasn't very flavorful. Chaufa Mixto: Chaufa = chaofan 炒飯 (fried rice in Chinese) A very straightforward transliteration. Similar to Chinese fried rice, it had plenty of wok hei 鑊氣 (wok aroma), which is rare in the US. The beef and chicken were quite tender; however, the shrimp wasn't fully cooked, and you could clearly taste the raw texture inside. Vegetales Salteados: Seasoned exactly like Lomo Saltados, it's even stranger to use it for stir-frying vegetables... It was entirely for the vegetables' benefit; otherwise, it was completely unnecessary. Suspiro: Dulce de leche custard, meringue, and passion fruit glaze, sprinkled with cinnamon powder--it was far too sweet.

Again I must preface by saying I didn't dine here or experience the place. I was invited to a dinner here that I couldn't attend, and as a birthday surprise I wanted to send that table a bottle of champagne. I intended to order a Dom Perignon (for which they charge ~$400 per bottle). But the staff was on amateur hour -- instead of taking my order, they altered the reservation, then alerted the birthday person who made the reservation (ruining any potential for a nice surprise gift), and said they would have to cancel the original reservation because the number of people changed. Birthday person had to call them and me to smooth it all over. Then, another person called me to get my email address to send me a PDF to fill out (which I had to then send them on WhatsApp) for my order - a comically silly added bureaucratic/administrative load. Just take the credit card over the phone on the first call/request, like 99% of businesses around the world. This place takes 3-4 steps just to order something... This person had absolutely zero idea that I made the request as a surprise, so it suggests there is pretty poor coordination and communication amongst staff. I'm sure people come here regularly and have great meals and great times. But at their prices, wine/champagne mark-ups, and promise of an 'elevated' experience -- staff need to get their act together.

They also refilled our waters constantly! In terms of food: - we did partake in drinks: I had the passion over perfection and my gf had the pina colada. I will say her pina colada tasted more like pineapple juice than anything else. I enjoyed my drink though. - we were recommended by our waiter to get around 4-6 dishes depending on how hungry we were. We opted for 7R ceviche, cheese arepitas, Latin falafel, and seafood jalea. I will say everything tasted so freaking good (with the exception of the falafel because they were on the drier side) but those portion sizes i would expect a little more for pricing - I will also add a side note they were providing sampling of a pumpkin soup. Did j like it? No. Did i appreciate it the ability to say i tasted it and didn't have to pay for it? Yes - we also were greedy and went in for desserts: banana bomb and chocolate and Ron. The banana bomb SOOOOO good! The chocolate and ron was more on the forgettable side. Despite the portions, the food was so good I'd come back in a heartbeat. I would love to see the seasonal things they come up with!

Most recently went as a party of 4 and got the crab beignets, beef arepa, masa gnocci, and parillada for two. Crab beignets were our favorite - perfectly crispy and great flavor. Masa gnocci was a little overcooked this time but still yummy. Beef arepa is a classic dish to get at the royal; two people can easily share one arepa. Parillada was a hearty entree and probably best for 2-3 people. This amount of food altogether was just nice. We probably could have ordered one more thing to be extra full. I don't typically get Latin American food but love all the flavors at this restaurant. Next time will try their breakfast menu!

Syrups made in house of course and you can tell. Just a perfect latte. I usually am an iced latte person but I recommend getting their lattes hot. Hits different.
