Ambiance was such a fun find during a weekend trip--I was immediately drawn to the style and quality of everything in the store. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the product selection and the overall experience. I visited again a few months later and met the owner, which made me love it even more. She's been incredibly helpful staying in touch and assisting me with purchases remotely, and the level of service is just as great as shopping in person. Was visiting Cal Poly with my son and had the pleasure of popping into this store. Not only was the store vibe on point the staff was amazing! The owner was gracious and very helpful. Yet, the sales girl, Kaya was outstanding. She was pulling so many things for me to try on and pushed me to try some things I would never try. I walked out with a pink sweater, which is so not me, but it was perfect! Kaya taught me how to dress it up and to make it "my style". It's now my favorite item in my closet! One of the best shopping experiences. Luxury brands at all price points, with staff who actually care to help you without being pushy. I purchased stretchy white jeans that I didn't even pick out myself, and almost bought a pair of khaki/green floral print shorts she brought me as well (can't remember her name sadly). Ambiance is a 5 star shopping experience. The store is so cute and stays current on fashion trends. The staff is always friendly and inviting and they go above and beyond in every way. Beautiful boutique with a wide selection of stuff, everything from clothing to accessories, basic and dressy and beyond. They have an upstairs level as well ... very nicely curated things either a vibrant and uplifting colorful vibe. The prices are are also reasonable and of course I saw several things I loved. Setting the shop brought back some nostalgia because I mistakenly thought it was related to Ambience in Noe Valley in SF, which is not the case. The women there were super sweet and friendly, chatty and welcoming. If I weren't so into vintage and up cycled things lately, I definitely would've scored some things there! read more

I have been a customer of Ambiance for almost 15 years. They have such a great and unique selection of clothing at various prices points - and something for every occasion! The owner has been nothing but friendly as well as the other gals who work in the store. The customer service is top notch - I had fallen in love with a pair of boots from there, but I struggle with boots because I have a wide calf. The owner was so helpful and ended up being able to custom order me the boots with a calf width that would fit. I LOVE THEM!! I have since moved out of the area, but I always get check in's from the staff on new arrivals or things I might like based on my purchase history. I appreciate this so much!! I was visiting from Marin and found the best selection of women's clothing and such great service. It was like having a personal stylist working with Vanessa who continues to find great items for me to consider from designers and labels I love. I agree prices are high but that's not the store it's the reality everywhere with higher end selections and items are priced the same at Nordstroms and Bloomingdale's and in SF & Berkeley Danville boutiques. It's the same with wine and dining so personal choices have to be made when we shop, but this store does a great job buying and Ipersonally I loved what I saw & found. I first visited this store several years ago and fell in love with the selection and vibe. For a college town it's nice to have a boutique with more upscale brand options and not the typical fast fashion junk. Flash forward to today and many more shopping excursions here, I continue to be impressed. I appreciate the always fresh inventory and beyond helpful staff. I agree with others on here regarding the mask wearing. Or lack there of. Not a single employee was wearing a mask. Yes we are all over wearing masks, and yes we all would like to waltz into every establishment free from masks but right now with everyone one getting Covid from omnicon it's not only considerate to others to wear one but it's a state mandate to wear them. But apparently this store is selfish and doesn't consider the health of others. read more

I was visiting SLO from San Francisco so I wasn't expecting great shopping, but this store had all of my favorite brands!! So many beautiful clothes it was hard to control myself! I was helped by two darling ladies (Lucy and Melissa). They were so sweet and welcoming and helped me find some jeans and tee shirts, and a couple new dresses I didn't know I needed ;) They even texted me to make sure I loved everything and that everything fit when I got home. Being that i'm vaccinated now I will admit I am ready to be done with these masks, but I still wear them in stores because it's the right thing to do. So when I walked into this overpriced shop & none of the staff is masked & giving me judgy looks for wearing mine, I got a weird vibe. I don't care how a shop runs their business, but don't make your customers feel uncomfortable for following the state wide rules. I won't be returning for the simple fact that their customers health & care is obviously not a concern to them. read more
