Fantastic atmosphere. We always enjoy the live music for breakfast. Portions are large and reasonably priced. I had the French toast stuffed with cream cheese and an orange marmalade. The breakfast came with two eggs and a side of pork. For the pork I choose patties. I would recommend the bacon instead of the patty. It would have been 4 stars but my lunch from Gaileys was not great. My fries were hard and cold, my burger was undercooked and truthfully...it really didnt have a taste. BUT...I love their breakfasts. I will stick with that. :) I will be visiting again real soon with high expectations. read more

Great place if you are visiting Springfield, or want a trendy breakfast date place. I ordered the Tommy for $12 and as a side I picked the biscuit and gravy. The gravy and biscuit tasted like it was out of a can and the biscuit tasted like the frozen kind. The main plate had a good English sausage, but the rest of the dish was a bit disappointing. The potatoes also seemed like the frozen variety, along with everything being smothered in hollandaise sauce, that was good but a little too heavy. Don't get me wrong, I had a good time, but for the price I would suggest passing at least on this dish. Also had to wait 45+ mins for food. read more

It took far too long for me to get around to trying Gailey's, and once I did, I immediately realized what a huge mistake I'd been making. It's possible this is the best breakfast food available, not just in Springfield, but in the Ozarks as a whole. Literally every aspect of the omelette I ordered was prepared with flawless care and attention to detail. The eggs found the perfect balance between well done and completely undone that so often proves elusive when dining out. The vegetables and sausage within were seasoned with a delicate balance of flavor that I can only assume resulted from hours of precise mathematical calculations. And atop this glorious culinary masterpiece? A mix of salsa and sour cream working in such harmony it would make a choir of angels blush. That alone would have earned them five stars, but the thing that really put Gailey's on my list of restaurants to which I must return is this: after ordering said omelette with extra eggs, they simply gave me two omelettes. Two! Given the stingy nature of many of their competitors, that's not just good service so much as downright heroic. One caveat: this review is based purely on food received while ordering takeout, so I can't speak for the in-house dining experience. However, you can bet I'll be rectifying that shortcoming ASAP. read more

We came here because of the reviews. My husband and I are In town for the weekend. The neighborhood is really cool. Original brick buildings give a historic feel. The place is hip and I think the art on the walls is edgy. I loved the bar set up. We sat ourselves per the sign at the door. One of my pet peeves is not being greeted when I enter a business. There were 3 employees that walked right by us as stared at the back of their heads anxiously. The bar tender took care of us. The menu has a ton of options. Reasonable prices. However, I didn't like my food. My order: toasted bagel, breakfast sandwich with a side of sautéed spinach What I got: a warm almost raw bagel, breakfast sandwich sprinkled with a few raw spinach leaves Bartender told us it was taking a while because they had new kitchen staff preparing everything. My husband winked at me and says "oh, great.." His food was good His order: sweet hash browns, egg whites, sausage and a home made biscuit. He asked to hold the brown sugar on the Browns. Not outstanding, but acceptable. I was hoping it was going to be amazing. Maybe we didn't choose the best option to showcase their ability, but we weren't exactly guided through the menu by our waiter. Thinking about coming back to try the pancakes. Stopped here based on Yelp reviews and totally feel duped. Food is bland and service is spotty. Stopped on our way out of state. We had no wait for a very early weekday breakfast. I ordered a plate with scrambled eggs and cheese, sweet potato hash, biscuits & gravy and sausage. The food was incredibly bland. The sweet potato hash was not good at all - no flavor, except a spoonful of brown sugar on the top. Avoid! My hubby got nearly the same thing and also was disappointed. Here is where I don't think the waiter was paying any attention to us. I ordered the kiddos "little boys" off the kids menu - sausage links and pancakes. He came back and asked how they wanted their eggs - I said I didn't think eggs came with it, but they like scrambled. When the food came the waitress said "wow, these kids must be hungry!" The waiter had ordered them "big boys" - the adult version with 3 pancakes each, two sausage patties (I ordered links) and eggs. The waitress told us she would talk to our waiter to get the check corrected. We also wished we had more coffee refills but we're somewhat avoided. The bill was adjusted to reflect two kids meals. Come for a visit if you're craving comfort food! We came here before at the start of our road trip for breakfast. The atmosphere is casual and they have plenty of items on the menu to choose from. I ordered "The Brit" which came with two eggs any style, sausage, hash browns and an English muffin. I wanted to switch out the muffin for a biscuit with gravy which was not a problem. There are plenty of places to sit and fortunately they had a high chair for my little one. On to the food; not very expensive, quick arrival, good service and tasty. However, for a nice, leisurely mid-morning, 12-cups of coffee, sit and chat with a friend meal, I think there's no place better here in Springfield! I live around the corner, so Gailey's is becoming a regular stop for me. Simple, delicious breakfast food. I've never eaten anything off of the lunch menu, but everything I've ever had on the breakfast side has been great, especially the sweet browns. The service is usually pretty good, but at times it can be a bit slow. I guess I've become used to it and like I said, I don't ever really come here for a quick bite. All of the servers are super polite and my orders have never come out wrong even with all of the substitutions and eliminations and things that I'm prone to throw in at the breakfast meal. Since the food is so damned good, it takes forever to make. That, and there's usually two dedicated cooks, one or two lazy tellers, and about five very busy servers. Cleanliness also gets a 1 star. Its not dirty, but its not clean. Old building and whatnot. Since there are only two dedicated cooks, it is very difficult to maintain a good face on their open kitchen. Doing the math, this place gets a 2 in total. If you have a lazy Sunday, don't mind getting up early, this place is worth it. If you're in a rush and want something good, make it yourself. read more

The food is decent, portions are huge, and they have genuinely good hollandaise sauce, something I think is hard to come across. Hash browns were ok. Crispy on the outside with a center like mashed potatoes. Different but not bad. The bacon was cooked well without being charcoal and the biscuits and gravy were very good indeed. So lots of stars for the food and the atmosphere but minus one for the service. Gaileys, the reason i love life! Well to be hounest life is pretty good anyway, but with gaileys in the morning its... well, darn close to perfect. When i first moved here (April of 2007) and like a newly hatched duckling took my first wabbly steps outside my Loft, Gaileys was one of the first places i saw. From the outside one can see a couple of people by small wooden tables, in stalls and even a few frying pancakes and eggs. It looks inviting in a "Truckstop, eat for a buck" kind of way, and it is. And so much more. It is rumered that the owner of Mud Lounge and Mud House also owns Gaileys, i think its true, it just havent been coroberated yet. And one must say that wile Mud House and Mud Lounge is friendly and hip Gaileys is like coming home to mom. The Caf/Breakfast restaurant is sparsly decorated and quite large (It is housed party in the lobby to an apartment building), to the immediate left of the entrance there is a Bar with stools for single sitting and the quick coffe. Besides the bar seating there are tables aswell as booths. The staff at Gaileys is among the friendlier i have ever met (including my own mom some mornings), and will go to great lengths to see to it that you get exactly what you want! Especially the waitress girls are amazing at keeping their spirit up stressful mornings, allways greeting you with a smile. The Menu at Gaileys is what sets it apart the most from "Friendly Bobs Truck-stop breakfast". Of course you can allwys get the usual; Eggs, Hashbrowns, Sweetbrowns, Beans, Sousage, Patties, Links and other traditional Non-diet food. But there is allso a great selection of metro-breakfast food like Fruit plates, Bagels, Grenola and other tasty and calorie-friendly alternatives. I myself choose the "Bear Hug" (monster meal with Bisquits, gravy, Hashbrowns, eggs, links and bacon) or some days the yougurt with fruit that is just great! In the town of Stockholm - Sweden from where i hail, before moving to the US 1 year ago. Gaileys just wasnt to be found, unless of course you felt like riding 90 miles into nowhere and asking for a truckstop, and even then, not even close. Gaileys is allready an institution for me, having missed only four or five mornings since i moved here a month ago. And i strongly suggest a visit! read more

My friend and I love the atmosphere and food. The guy Heaven is a wonderful sever. Our problem is the wait times, week days or weekends there are enormous delays in getting a seat. But the biggest problem is the time it takes to get your order. The cooks seems preoccupied with something other than cooking. He may need some coaching or short order management classes. Sometimes the wait for your food is close to an hour witch means I can cook faster at home and save on gas and parking head aches. If you are diabetic or need to eat and run this is the wrong place. Great menu, wonderful service but the wait time is horrible. FYI: I wrote this review on my third cup of coffe waiting for breakfast. Gotta find a another breakfast spot. read more
