The mac and cheese wasn't your typical thick, baked version. It was more on the soupy side, kind of like queso, with a slight kick of spice. It was super cheesy and flavorful, and I think it might've actually been just queso and noodles, but somehow that combo works better than you'd expect. The chicken fried chicken came in bigger pieces than I anticipated. I'm pretty sure they used chicken thighs, which is my favorite because they have the most flavor. Even after letting them sit while I worked on the sides, the chicken stayed super crispy. The breading was salty in the best way. The gravy on top didn't really stand out. Kind of just there... but it did its job. If it had been richer, it might have overwhelmed the chicken, so maybe that balance was intentional? The loaded mashed potatoes were another win. They had crispy bacon, melted cheese, and a little green onion. The potatoes themselves were garlicky in a really good way, not too salty, but the bacon and cheese brought enough salt to round it out. The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant wasn't super busy, and I sat at the bar, which made for a chill and easy experience overall. My server was Chelsea I believe. Would totally order this again. Today, we went again, and my steak was ordered medium rare and it came out well-done. I returned it and it came out rare-purple on the inside. My husband's sandwich was not accurate to its description, and our appetizer came out with our meal. We requested to speak with the manager, but our server came back and said the manager said he was too busy to talk to us. We will NOT return and will tell our friends to not go there. this place was pretty disappointing compared to what i've seen online! i was excited to try it and it was a tough experience. we did go on a friday night so we were okay with waiting and it being busy and such. however, we were seated right away, which was nice. however, we ended up waiting a very long time for every little thing. we were ordering beers and waters and it was taking 20+ minutes for them to be delivered. we also waited about an hour and 45 minutes for the food to be delivered after ordering. i got a smash burger, i think called the barr burger, it was okay but very dry. i requested extra sauce and never got it. my friend got a cheese pizza (she is a vegetarian and there were not many options for vegetarian fyi), and it was very cold and bland! the server was apologizing and claimed the cooks were new, which is not her fault but still makes for a rough experience. she offered a discount since our food took so long and then it ended up only being a 5% discount that only took off a few dollars. it was a nice gesture, but kind of disappointing when we got the bill. read more

Awful! I ordered around 80$ dollars worth of food from here for delivery to my home and wow was I disappointed. First the Pizza was a thin cracker crust and way over cooked, but shockingly completely cool and unwarm upon delivery and it tasted literally Blah. I had ordered a large with pepperoni, sausage and jalapeño's it should have plenty of spicy tanginess, but nope it was completely bland. I couldn't really even taste the almost burnt, cool and dried out cheese...so after a few heavily disappointing and apathetic bites it went into the trash. The Worst most bland pizza in all of Springfield is my personal opinion But thank goodness I ordered a Variety of food right?... next on the Menu was the Buffalo Chicken Wings...Yuck! It had just a faint taste of watery weak and thin tasting Buffalo Sauce no real heat or spice and the chicken had a slight off taste to it...The portion size itself was fine but who cares...if supposedly Hot and Spicy Buffalo Wings taste bland and slightly off. The Fish and Chips at least this was okay....nothing wrong with the Fish that I could tell, it tasted fine...the Chips had an unusual cut to them, but they tasted acceptable. However, where the heck was the Coleslaw that was supposed to be included??? Nowhere to be found is the answer, which is a shame because I love Coleslaw. Lastly I tried the Deep Fried Pickles, one of my new favorite appetizers to try when I order out...They were so overly salted, it was to the point of almost being completely unedible. I tried one and thought wow what was the Cook thinking salting these so heavily ??? I tried another, but this time I fully dipped it into the ranch dressing hoping to mask the hazardous health risk level of intense saltiness, but no luck there...So once again, off to the trash it also went. This time when we entered I got the card out and was immediately told by the server we could not use it since it was happy hour. The server then asked if we still wanted to order an appetizer and when I said no she got a bit rude. I did order a beer that was served WARM. One person in our group ordered a gluten free pizza only to be informed later the sauce was no longer gluten free. I'll start with the obvious. This place really has no business calling itself a taproom. Their beer selection is pretty mediocre. The kid who waited on us didn't even know what they had and pointed across the room to a chalkboard by the front door, as though we were expected to have read it on the way in. I got the Farmhouse burger. I wasn't asked whether I wanted the brioche or waffle bun. Apparently, the default is the waffle and it was just weird. The waffle was sickeningly sweet and didn't pair well with the mayo. The egg was also barely cooked, so it was just a big mess. So much so that picking it up was impossible. I ended up having to eat it with a fork and knife. This would've been no big deal but it was served on a metal tray with a paper liner, which soaked through and ripped into the bun when cut. My wife got the Classic burger. She didn't have any complaints with it, but she couldn't finish her garlic mashed potatoes. We both agreed nothing was special and wasn't anything to write home about. We'll probably give it another shot sometime just to give the place a chance, but we're not itching to go out of our way for it. read more

Came in about 9pm on a Saturday, it was busy but not packed. We found a table and were greeted by our server. She was very friendly and personable. We had the Prime Rib Rolls, which were fantastic. It took a bit for our burger and entree to arrive. The food was lukewarm at best, as we could see it waiting in the window for some time. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken tenders. These were not hot at all for being their 3rd hottest sauce on the menu. I don't blame our server as she was waiting on and bussing tables. Whom I assume was the manager was vaping and then sitting at the bar on his phone. The end of the bar was full of dirty glasses and pitchers. At one point another server was rolling silverware behind us. The tub they were stacking the rolls in fell off the chair and some of the rolls landed on the floor. Those rolls went right back into the tub. I'm assuming these will be used by other customers. Not sure I will return after our experience. Only giving two stars because of the Prime Rib Rolls. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We came for the first time last Sunday. Ordered Mac and cheese, as well as a buffalo chicken salad. We waited over 45 minutes for our food with very minimal contact from our server. A table that was sat after, received their food before we did. I get that happens, but some communication goes a long way. While walking over to the restroom, I observed my salad sitting in the hot window, which was brought out to me roughly 20 minutes after I had seen it. When we finally got our food, it was explained to us that they had to make fresh cheese sauce for the Mac and cheese, which would have been nice to know during our long wait. The chicken on top of the salad was dry from sitting in the window for so long, the cheese was melted, the lettuce was wilted, and the eggs were inedible. When our server finally came back to check on us, I explained to her that I would not be eating a salad and that I had seen it sitting in a hot window for an extended amount of time and pointed out to her how inedible it looked. At this point I just didn't want anything. A while later, she then came out with a new salad, and told me the person who originally dropped our food off was the GM. Shortly after this happened, I observed our server speaking to bar guests about the experience I was having while they were glaring over at me. This behavior was extremely unprofessional and highly inappropriate. The GM came out to talk to us about our meals and offered to comp the check, and give us a gift card. I informed her that based on the actions of our server that I observed while talking about our situation with other guests of the restaurant, we will not be coming back, so I declined the gift card. This was our first and only visit to this restaurant. Highly disappointed in your staffs actions, and I hope they do better in the future. read more

Wow what can I say I found this place on yelp late last night. Had fantastic service at the bar. The food was way better that we expected. The wings were fire and the chicken fried chicken was excellent. The Mac & cheese & even the broccoli had excellent flavor. If you are in the Springfield definitely check this place out. My sister recommended this place and gave us a $20 gift card she had acquired. She loves this place and since she's a lifelong server/bartender at good restaurants we couldn't quite say no. But with most gastropubs/bars that serve food, I was skeptical. Also, the reviews did not give me many warm and fuzzies. But off we went on a Friday night anyway. We got there and were seated right away in a very bustling dining room. I will say they don't have nearly as many taps as they need to be a "taproom" and when asked what they have on tap the server said "just about anything". I asked for a certain beer first and she said "no" they don't have that. Named another beer and nope....not on tap either...lol. I'm not a beer snob, and these were popular beers that are on tap at other places in town. The beer list was right at the front door (and I guess on the taps), so unless you have amazing eyesight that part was NOT helpful, and I never actually got an answer to my question. Still don't know what beers are on tap. So I got a smoked old fashion which to their benefit, was very good. We first got the Prime Rib Eggrolls which were very good and came with a spicy sweet chili sauce. I then ordered the Fish and Chips and my wife got the Chicken Tenders sauced like wings. We also really enjoyed the scoop fries they came with. My fish was two huge pieces of cod that they hand-battered and fried, and I could only eat one of the two. While most bars fry pre-frozen fish this was certainly not that. My wife's tendies were fantastic as well, crispy, crunchy, saucy and hot. I will say their price point for a bar is a little high, but for us we got what we paid for and were not disappointed. Overall, both my wife and I were surprised how much we liked this place and our meals. Our server was great, and we never waited long for our food, even with as busy as they were. Sunday snack day The Works 14 pizza was enough for 2 adults and fantastic with a crispy crust and nice blend of flavors (could have used a bit more veggies). We walked in really excited to try this restaurant as it's close to home and looks nice. Our expectations were far too high. We were seated at a table that was extremely close to another table. I then moved the table to get some room and noticed the amazly wobbly table held up by about 12 total coasters. We decide to just move to a bar seat. I asked to see The beer list and the waitress tells me they don't have one. She asked me to mention what beers I like, We then decide on one and then she hands me the non-alcoholic version of it that I did not want and they don't have the alcoholic version of it. We ordered the steak and the salmon with the premium sides. I can't tell you how bad this was. The steak was not cooked correctly nor seasoned. The mashed potatoes were amazingly horrible. They blended cheese, garlic and what has to be instant mashed potatoes together for the garlic mashed potatoes, It tastes like a chemical spill.The brussel sprouts weren't fully cooked far from grilled and had no seasoning. The salmon I ordered was way overcooked. The term nursing home food will be associated with this restaurant as that's what it tastes like. The manager was really good and agreed that there were massive problems. Our waitress was amazingly uncaring And when we asked her about our food, before we got the manager, not tasting good she just said that's how it comes out. After this kind of experience you kind of look around. Try to figure out what's going on. This is a really nice looking restaurant .We noticed that most of the waitresses were on the much younger side and would appear to be only two men were on the floor and one of them was a manager and I assume the other was the owner. Then I started looking at the reviews for this amazingly rated restaurant. Then I noticed that they had ran some contests to counteract all the bad reviews that they're getting. In conclusion, this restaurant knows how bad of a job they're doing, they know how bad their food is, they know how bad their service is and They're focusing their efforts to maintain good reviews not cooking good food And delivering good service. Salad was good - could have had more toppings. (Had plenty of chicken) Wings - we ordered Garlic Parm and Cajun. Garlic were fine - nothing to write home about. Cajun were advertised as being up there on the heat scale - and they were mild at best. Staff appeared to be friendly. Bartender waited on us and chatted us up while we were there.
