I love the food at Gailey's and (to me) the staff has always been friendly. Decent sized portions for a reasonable price. They have live music on Saturday and Sunday. Get there early unless you like waiting. If you get there much after 9:00AM bring something to read. The place is always packed and the limited space they have for a cook staff make the wait for your food even longer. One thing to do to help alleviate this issue might be to give people menus while they wait and take their orders while they're being seated. An appropriate quite I heard once was, "I went to Gailey's for breakfast and had a nice lunch." Don't get me wrong. Ill say the same thing everyone else is saying in their reviews: I really want to like this place, but its so disappointing. Look its got all the right elements they just can tie them all together. Its downtown, its got solid wait staff that are always friendly, its so on point with its diner atmosphere - lots of seating, cool ambiance and great lighting. It should be an amazing staple but it just always is hit or miss with the food and the quality. Springfield classic spot! This place has been a staple for years. The "bear hug" and the "full Monty" are a must try. My go to is the "downtowner". There is always a unique breakfast special for you to try. While this place is busy on the weekends it always easy to find a spot weekdays. Service is always excellent and the food hits the spot. I heard the hype about this place and decided to give it a try... I went during the week around 9am...got seated almost immediately. When it was time to order, the waitress seems uninterested in us and what we needed. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and a side of sausage links...and I was not impressed whatsoever. My biscuits were rock hard and the sausage wasn't very good either. Maybe I just came in on a bad day... Maybe not. Either way, I won't be coming back. This used to be one of my favorite spots. But the last couple times I've had nothing but problems. This time I ordered a Patty melt it came out with cheese on one side and nothing on the other I I asked the waitress why it doesn't have onions she said it doesn't come with it but I'll bring you some very snotty about it. My husband ordered a Denver omelet and told her she he did not want the toast. When we got our bill and extra $3 have been added. I was told because of the onions. However The Onion said I got was a couple little chunks not enough to even put on one side of the Burger. However that was OK I could deal with it. The other $2 in 50 cents was 4 my husband not wanting the toast with his meal so she added everything alacart and charged more. When brought to the waitress's attention she got angry and said it was cheaper when she looked at the bill and realized it was $2.50 more then the menu she got very angry said she would fix the bill and didn't want us to come back and didn't want to deal with us again. This is undoubtedly the breakfast place in Springfield. The food is always good and fresh, homemade, and a great atmosphere. Get there early and possibly expect to wait for a table, because it's a happening place! Did have to wait about 10-15 mins for a table on a Saturday morning but it was well worth it! Don't be confused by the "Pharmacy" sign like my friend was! Haha it's a more down to earth atmosphere instead of the commercial chains. Will def be returning! read more

NO NO NO!!! I went there last weekend with a group of four and not only did we wait 30 min to be seated, once we were seated we waited a while to order then waited 1 hour for our food!! We all looked at our watches during the whole horrible experience. The service was sub par, and the food was nothing special as well. I ordered an omelette and my first bite had a "crunch" in it which I assume was eggshell (I hope). The sweet browns were also not all that great, tasted like they were previously frozen. So I'm not sure if this place improved or we went at a less crowded day. It is very small and has few seats. its more like a small old ice cream shop turned restaurant. But the food was good and the service was good as well. This was my families first time visiting we heard great things about. We walked in and it was surprisingly bigger than I thought. It was packed but we took a chance, they have chairs and a sofa for your waiting pleasure. Our name was taken and it only took 20 mins for us to be seated. Our waitress was awesome she brought waters to the table immediately (that may be the norm) we looked at the menus and she answered questions. Our food was great didn't take very long to come. We could see the cooks from where we were sitting which I thought was cool. The only ding was my hash browns, they were not that great! The food is still delicious and so is the service but the last three times I've been the food is soooooo slooooow in coming to the table. The mornings I've been in were not busy and I sat in the room where the cooks are doin' their thang. At first I thought they were training someone new and that was why it was so slow, but going back two more times, it was still that slow (same cook). I really enjoyed my breakfast at Gailey's, both times that I have visited. The first visit, I ordered eggs benedict and really enjoyed it. The second time, I ordered the "Mystery Jeff" which comes with two eggs, a bowl of yogurt with fruit and granola, and I substituted the hash browns with bacon. If I could give 10 stars I would! There is a reason the line extends outside and down the sidewalk. They gave coffee while you waited which was good by the way. The wait was not long although it appeared it would be. Gailey's used to be an old pharmacy which gave it a eloquent charm. There was a guitarist and harpist playing light music on a Sunday Morning. So cool! Our food came quickly and was so delicious! I can honestly say that it was the BEST BACON I HAVE EVER HAD! Not sure how they cook it, but WOW! The pancakes were light and fluffy. They even had sugar free syrup (my hubby is diabetic) which you can't find very often in a restaurant, food was awesome, our waitress was awesome and the atmosphere was awesome! Located in an old hotel, the Hotel Seville, AND in the attached older pharmacy...Gailey's offers an amazing breakfast selection from freshly made omelets, parfaits, sausage biscuits and gravy (called the Bear Hug!!). I will start out by saying the food was good...but NOT good enough to have to wait an hour to be seated & another hour to receive our food. A wrong plate was brought to our table and then removed by the server when we asked where one of our plates were. I sincerely hope it was not then taken to the correct table as I believe that is against health code. One of us didn't receive the French toast part of the breakfast until completely done eating the eggs & bacon. (It's a French toast breakfast plate- don't bring it without the main course). Which I don't know if it was actually all that good or if it was because I was so hungry after my 47mins of waiting for it after I ordered, that anything would've tasted good? My food was warm, others at my table had some cold fries. We walked in and had a seat and told someone would be "right with us" 5 minutes later, we retrieved our own menus. After about a total of 8mins of waiting to be greeted by our server, we ordered drinks and food. Great food, fun and funky atmosphere, nice staff. I went her with one of my teenagers and two senior citizen family members. We were seated pretty quickly even though the place was packed. The service was a bit slow, obviously because someone had called in sick or something. Our server was also hosting cashiering and I was satisfied with his apology for our wait for the food. He was also really hustling. Honestly, I didn't think the wait was bad, but our older relatives kept complaining about it. My kid had the Freedom Waffle which comes covered in fruit and whipped cream with a side of eggs and bacon. It was great. I had the French Quarter, French toast served with eggs scrambled with ham and cheddar and a side of potatoes. Delicious. One of our companions had a Cali sandwich and said it was good. The other got the Big Bite Mike which is an omelette with peppers covered in queso. It looked great and he said it tasted great as well. This is a trendy neat little breakfast restaurant only open until late afternoon in the heart of Springfield. I experienced the Full Monty Breakfast full english breakfast. Very good breakfast. The place has a very urban feel. They have their own roasted coffee which is above average. Service is slow. The only complaint is that most of the menu seems very progressive and creative but they use a powered gravy. If you are driving through Springfield Gaileys will not let you down. Enjoy. read more

This is still one of the better breakfasts in town. Eggs were cooked medium as requested, hash browns crisp and tasty, and bacon good and crispy. The b and g has a good biscuit, fluffy with a crisp shel but the gravy was bland and not the pepper gravy I expected. It has plenty of sausage in it but that didn't make up for the taste.
