Gala and their team had done a fantastic job for our wedding dinner ceremony. Before we began coordinating, we were very pleased by their food and staff's friendly, which is why we chose Gala. The event coordinator Justin was so easy to work with and he made sure that all of our requests were handled correctly. All of our guests said positive things about the night. Our bartender fulfilled all the special drinks from our guests and he went above and beyond for us. My wife and I always enjoy their food. The chef definitely delivered on the night of our wedding. The quality remains the same and fresh. The restaurant has open patio. It is perfect for date night and anniversaries. It is also located in a quieter neighborhood and parking lot is right behind. We enjoy the architecture of the restaurant very much. We will be going back annually for our anniversary to reminisce the amazing night.

My favorite things about coming to gala are the beautiful patio, delicate refined glassware, and wonderful presentation of all dishes. I've come for dinner a few times but most recently came for happy hour and had such a great time with Omar as my server. I loved the presentation of oysters with a lovely cucumber mignonette, the drinks were delicious, and overall just such a comfortable but elevated experience.

Great food, cozy ambiance, and personalized service -- what more to expect? The food is Mediterranean inspired and artfully presented. We shared several plates which is probably the best way to go for an enjoyable experience. There is a full bar with the usual cocktails and an emphasis on Spanish wines. Definitely a place we will return on our next visit to SB.

Ambiance, great place for a date night. One block off of State so away from the craziness. Service, excellent!!!! Cesar and Stanley are great bartenders. Food delicious, I had the sirloin, my friend had the way and our husbands had the burger. If you sit at the bar they have a burger special with fries and a drink. We also started off with the olives and the half dozen oysters, fresh and light. Ended with some delicious, light cheesecake. Everyone there was so friendly.

Duck Confit? More like how much (duck) (con) I (fit) in my mouth. Came here with a group of coworkers on a trip to Santa Barbara and this was one of the highlights. Loved the meal, service was fast and attentive, and setting was elegant yet intimate. Gala serves good drinks, Spanish-oriented dishes, and is conveniently located in the heart of Santa Barbara. Would heavily recommend to anyone visiting.

My husband and I were researching multiple places for a wedding rehearsal dinner and Gala turned out to be the most accommodating, with the right Mediterranean ambiance that I wanted for our event. The website featured beautiful floral arrangements and we had the restaurant prepare those for us. The tasting was so much fun and we went through lots of wins and dishes. The Santa Barbara wine selections were actually the best. We chose a huge selection of appetizers and entrees. The waitress and owner were so helpful and treated us like family. I appreciated everything they did for us. I also liked that we were able to add on extra food when we ran out! We finished with the most incredible cheesecake on the planet. Love Gala forever and will go back every chance I get!

How lucky are we to have Chef Jaimie in SBA! Ambience is great. Food fabulous. Service very good. Generous portion on olives and so good. They use oat bakery Charcoal Sourdough bread for their traditional tomato bread appetizer. It is sublime and authentic Happy hour at 5pm is a good fun. Not a lot of options but just right The Speical Brazilian cheese bread was sublime. Will go again. Our huge compliments to the chef Jaimie and team One dish came out very late but otherwise was near perfection

What a mess! The place was severely understaffed and it showed since the beginning. Took us 10 minutes for someone to check us in from the waiter booth, so standing in the cold, then they sat us in at bar; keep in mind we had a reservation. We finally get seated and the waiter took forever to get our order and talk to us, a group who sat 10 minutes later got attention first and their food first and then we finally get to order. Lots of strange stares too from the staff, felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Honestly a shame because the restaurant is really beautiful and the food is decent, the mushroom risotto was really good and my favorite, the steak was okay.. and the corn bread was yummy. The chefs and the bartenders honestly carried the place but the waiters and service not so much. All I thought throughout this experience is that I want to leave. Would not come back, very disappointed.

This location is in Santa Barbara's "Funk Zone" district, which was formerly an industrial area that's turned into a wine and art district full of interesting places to gander. The Good: * Huge dog-friendly covered outdoor seating * Full lineup of their signature Shalhoob craft beers. They also have fermented grapes and liquor, if beer isn't your jam. * Service was friendly and welcoming. * Street Parking and City-owned lots, as well. The lots are your best bet, and they're free for a short while. * Prices are very reasonable for a BBQ place. * The Street Corn app might be the best thing we ate here as the corn was super fresh right off the cob, and the Chipotle aioli was superb. * BBQ Beans was more of a bean soup, but it was decent. * Mac & Cheese was also pretty good. Carrots enjoyed it more than I did, but I might've been grumpy from the shitty meats (more on that in a minute). The Meh: * Tritip was completely dry and tasted like it was cooked in the oven and then finished on the grill. But, I will say, at least it was edible unlike the ribs... The Ugly: * Maybe the worst ribs I've ever had. They were just completely hammered with salt and completely blew out my palate within two bites, which is a shame because they were tender and cooked well, but jfc, no amount of sauce or anything is going to save something this salty. Conclusion: Maybe we just caught them on a bad day because a place doesn't survive for over fifty years serving up meat like this. I'd be willing to give them another try someday, but I need my tongue to recover first.

The salad was HUGE, definitely meant to share although I ended up cleaning it up. I really like the concept of hyper-local where even the fisherman gets a shoutout by name on the menu, but I think the presentation and execution fell flat. I'm not sure if a larger group or different menu items would have landed differently but my fish ended up a bit rubbery and overcooked. The other dishes were very underwhelming, and it was really tough to get the attention of my server. When it came time to pay, they offered me a pen which didn't work, then when I asked for another one, it didn't work, and finally I asked a bus boy who gave me 5 pens which 4/5 didn't work. I felt so awkward having to do so much to get anyone's attention, and then to be offered a total of 6 non functioning pens and one barely functional one.

She was about 9 years old and shaking while she poured us water, which made us feel badly for her and not really understand why a child was working at this upscale restaurant but watching the only server/owner running around on the floor it seemed necessary to have this child working the host stand. I understand they were busy or understaffed, but we had a variety of issues throughout our visit that went unaddressed with what resulted in a very odd outburst. The wait for drinks was 20+ minutes, and the wait for a food order exceeded an hour. One drink came out incorrectly. 30+ minutes after ordering our bread came out cold and without butter, and of our party of 3, one guest's entree took an additional 10 minutes to come out without any acknowledgement from staff. Overall the service was really disappointing and there was no apology at any point throughout our meal even though it seemed clear the service was lacking throughout our visit. When the server/owner came to drop our check he asked how our experience was. I truly tried to be as polite as possible while explaining our frustrations. In addition to the long wait times, we had a drink come out the wrong flavor, a rude bartender, and one crepe came out without the Brie as described, which I didn't get a chance to explain. I also mentioned having a child greet us was unexpected to which he told us he was teaching his child responsibility and that's why she was working. He seemed set off by the feedback I was trying to give and he then threw my credit card onto the table and he told me he didn't want my money. I didn't want a free meal, I wanted to give feedback into our experience which I would classify as the worst restaurant service I have ever had. I keep replaying the whole experience trying to figure out what I could have done differently to have had a positive experience but as a long time server in Santa Barbara I'm having a hard time reconciling this crazy experience.

One of my favorite things they offered as starters were their assortment of mini muffins (banana nut, rosemary, cheese etc). They were so good! The staff was nice enough to give me some to take home at the end of our meal. As we were enjoying the muffins, there was point in the evening where the staff all came together and sang "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. It felt special and was nice hearing everyone sing along. We eventually ordered a jambalaya pasta dish and fish with vegetables dish. Needless to say, the pasta was out of this world. It was creamy, savory, and perfectly balanced in flavor. I'd come back just for that pasta dish alone, and that says a lot as I am not a huge pasta lover. Since it was my birthday, they surprised me with an ice cream dessert with chocolate writing on the plate. I was most impressed with the quality of chocolate they used for the writing. It was not Hershey's syrup one would assume, they went an extra step and used high quality thick chocolate that they melted to write my birthday greeting in cursive. Thankfully my name is long so I could eat more chocolate lol. By the end of the meal, I left the Palace with a feeling of nostalgia and mild sadness because I had to leave. For appetizers, we ordered the Cajun Popcorn and the Soft Shell Crab. I haven't had a lot of crawfish before, so I really wanted to try the Cajun Popcorn. These crawfish tails are dipper in cornbread buttermilk batter and fried. They're crispy and fun to eat! They give a sherry wine dipping sauce, which was also yummy! Would recommend getting these! We also wanted to try the Soft Shell Crab, and you can get it as an appetizer or an entree. The appetizer comes with one soft shell crab that's been stuffed with Bienville crabmeat dressing, coated the cornmeal flour, and flash fried. It has just the right amount of crispiness! It's served with a jalapeno beurre-blanc and rice. For our entree, we shared the Crawfish Pasta Lafitte. We couldn't get enough of the crawfish tails so decided to get the pasta that had them as well. The pasta also had caramelized onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, cream, and creole seasoning. Very tasty! Would recommend this pasta! For the fun part that I mentioned--they have a magician that walks around and does magic tricks at each table! It was entertaining and very cool to see some of the tricks up close! They also have a Sing-Along moment in the evening where they'll had out lyric sheets to everyone, turn on the music, and everyone sings the song together. They were playing "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong on the evening I was there, but the song changes and they ask you not to open the lyrics book until right before the song, so it's a surprise!

Unique and delicious! But the real star of the show was the **Santa Maria barbecue tri-tip**. Juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor--it's hands down the best tri-tip I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about it! To wrap up our meal, we indulged in the **dessert wine flight**--a must for anyone visiting! Each sip was a delightful surprise, and we finished with the **avocado mousse**, a light and unique dessert that felt like a perfect ending after a rich meal. As a dessert lover, I was thrilled to find something so indulgent yet refreshing! As if the evening couldn't get any better, the chef himself came to our table to check in. He was humble and genuinely cared about the experience he was providing. It's no wonder Barbareno is Michelin-rated! We can't wait to come back and bring the kids next time. Plus, when I go to grab a beer, I'm not necessarily wanting to pay $20+ for a burger without fries. That being said, it's still a good spot to grab some food while drinking a beer at Lama Dog.
