First time here and already planning to come back. The service was great, the vibe was even better, just one of those places that feels good to be in. We all ended up ordering the specials for both starters and mains, and they were honestly as good as they sounded. They also have very reasonable corkage fees, we brought two bottles with us. That said, the regular menu looked really solid too, so there's plenty of reason to come back and try more.

Came for a Happy Hour Margarita...Stayed for dinner
    Angela R.

Came for happy hour margaritas and stayed for the food. Two margaritas later and I knew I couldn't leave without dinner. The only con I had about happy hour is that they offer light fare, such as warm marinated olives or bread and butter for food. Hopefully they can extend on the light bites, but in any case the margaritas were perfectly crafted. I'm not a huge fan of mezcal tequila, but the one used here was by Derrumbes, which had a light smokiness that wasn't overpowering. I really enjoyed it! Happy Hour is offered Wednesday to Sunday from 4-5pm. Bistro Amasa is located at the Upham Hotel a few blocks away from downtown on the corner of De La Vina & Sola. It's a casual yet beautiful setting that blends victorian charm with modern warmth. I recommend reserving a table outside. Now, on to the food! I ordered the hot smoked salmon, which is layered with everything bagel cream, dill caper gremolata, crispy shallots, farro, and a delicate tomato water that brought everything together perfectly. I honestly never heard of tomato water, but it definitely worked with this dish! The salmon was fresh, light, flaky and perfectly seasoned. I loved the subtle smoke flavor it was giving. I've never had a salmon dish like this and it is now one of my favorites. And of course...dessert was a must! The Angel's Affogato was pure indulgence yet still light and not overly filling. Made with fior di latte gelato drowned in espresso with a splash of sambuca and topped with whipped mascarpone. Great presentation and it was the perfect way to end my solo dinner date. Pro Tip: Check your receipt thoroughly! I was charged full price for happy hour drinks, but the manager kindly fixed it. Also, the amount taken from my checking account was over by $2.00 more than what I signed for. Not sure what happened, but it's only $2 and I can live with that. Despite the mishap, I had a great experience and would still come back. The food was great, and now they are offering weekend brunch from 9:30am to 2pm. Looking forward to checking that out!

Food was delicious! The Roasted Chicken was AMAZING, a true show stopper. We loved the country fried Mushroom, and the Caesar Croquettes were delightful! Very large portions for everything, come hungry! Lovely bar, excellent service, romantic, classic and chic ambience!

Very good! Excited to have another amazing dinner options in SB. The marinated olives were very good. I loved the carrots and the salad. The fries were strange and not great. The size of the French fries were too thick and soft. The burger had a sauce on it that had a strange texture. The service was fast and kind and accommodating. The decor was very charming and suited the building well. I'll go back!

We ate the gnocchi up before I got the picture of it ! Haha!! Just know it was THAT good.

Came upon this lovely tiny restaurant. We came for dinner, and never been here before so didn't know what to expect. We got the Waldorf , Gnocchi & Cheese, and their special of the day which was this delicious tomato like pasta. The Waldorf was good. We've never had it before, it was sweet and super filling. The Gnocchi was amazing. It was flavorful and melted in my mouth. The pasta was my favorite. It was saucy and the noodles were cooked just right. Service was good. The woman bringing out the food was sweet and quick. Overall, great experience.

I had a wonderful experience here out on the comfortable but elegant covered patio. Lucas provided attentive and quick service while Nicole helped make my experience great. The steak tartare was delicious and amasa martini was the perfect level of dirty.

This place is one of the best places to eat delicious French cuisine in the area. Since it's located so close to downtown Santa Barbara area we enjoyed a nice walk to the location. The seating inside was beautiful and comfortable. They have a very nice outdoor seating as well that feels like your having a nice meal on a porch. We ordered a warm olive dish to start that was full of flavor and a beautiful twist on green olives. The feta cheese and bread complemented the dish very well. For entrée, the Salmon dish was full of smoky flavor. It was easly one of my favorite Salmon dishes. We ordered maple glazed carrots and grilled asparagus that equally were amazing. Our server, Aliluka, was an absolute pleasure. Hw provide excellent service and went above and beyond to make sure our first experience was enjoyable. He took our anniversary dinner celebration to a higher level and made this place memorable for us. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The salad was HUGE, definitely meant to share although I ended up cleaning it up. I really like the concept of hyper-local where even the fisherman gets a shoutout by name on the menu, but I think the presentation and execution fell flat. I'm not sure if a larger group or different menu items would have landed differently but my fish ended up a bit rubbery and overcooked. The other dishes were very underwhelming, and it was really tough to get the attention of my server. When it came time to pay, they offered me a pen which didn't work, then when I asked for another one, it didn't work, and finally I asked a bus boy who gave me 5 pens which 4/5 didn't work. I felt so awkward having to do so much to get anyone's attention, and then to be offered a total of 6 non functioning pens and one barely functional one.

Server walking back and forth till we pulled him to our table to take our order, mind you the place was empty (now I know why!). He takes it from in front of me and leaves without a word. I wait and wait, eventually ask if my food is still coming, did he place the wrong order? "Yeah, your food is coming, yes wrong order". There was no "sorry if this isn't your order, there was a mixup" or something, ANYTHING. Food eventually comes, suddenly we have a different server, again no explanation. Food is mid at best. Dessert as an apology or something is out of the question, they've never heard of such a thing. Safe to say I regret wasting my money here, and it makes total sense why it's empty all the time. Don't bother, take your money somewhere else, there are so many great restaurants in Lower Village Montecito, this one is definitely a Must Miss!

The tri-tip had an absolutely delicious flavor, and everything tasted like it was made with fresh ingredients. The meat itself was okay, though it wasn't quite as tender as I would have liked. But it is tri-tip, after all, which isn't exactly the most tender cut of meat. Our servers got all our orders right and split the check for our group, which made paying much easier and more accurate for everyone. He had reserved a table weeks in advance, and even though we ran a few minutes late due to the fiesta madness and Uber challenges, the staff was incredibly kind and understanding. Seriously, they turned what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth entry! Our server, Sierra, was an absolute gem--probably the best server I've encountered in ages! She kicked off the evening by walking us through the menu and setting the tone for our culinary adventure. Talk about being in good hands! To toast our special day, she even surprised us with complimentary champagne. Cheers to that! Now, let's dive into the food! We started with the **bread and butter**--trust me, don't skip it! Next up was the **bacon date preserve**, which was nothing short of incredible. Then came the acorn tagliatelle, made with wild mushrooms and acorn flour. I've never tasted anything quite like it! Unique and delicious! But the real star of the show was the **Santa Maria barbecue tri-tip**. Juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor--it's hands down the best tri-tip I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about it! To wrap up our meal, we indulged in the **dessert wine flight**--a must for anyone visiting! Each sip was a delightful surprise, and we finished with the **avocado mousse**, a light and unique dessert that felt like a perfect ending after a rich meal. As a dessert lover, I was thrilled to find something so indulgent yet refreshing! As if the evening couldn't get any better, the chef himself came to our table to check in. He was humble and genuinely cared about the experience he was providing. It's no wonder Barbareno is Michelin-rated! We can't wait to come back and bring the kids next time. Thank you, Barbareno, for making our anniversary so special and unforgettable!

She was about 9 years old and shaking while she poured us water, which made us feel badly for her and not really understand why a child was working at this upscale restaurant but watching the only server/owner running around on the floor it seemed necessary to have this child working the host stand. I understand they were busy or understaffed, but we had a variety of issues throughout our visit that went unaddressed with what resulted in a very odd outburst. The wait for drinks was 20+ minutes, and the wait for a food order exceeded an hour. One drink came out incorrectly. 30+ minutes after ordering our bread came out cold and without butter, and of our party of 3, one guest's entree took an additional 10 minutes to come out without any acknowledgement from staff. Overall the service was really disappointing and there was no apology at any point throughout our meal even though it seemed clear the service was lacking throughout our visit. When the server/owner came to drop our check he asked how our experience was. I truly tried to be as polite as possible while explaining our frustrations. In addition to the long wait times, we had a drink come out the wrong flavor, a rude bartender, and one crepe came out without the Brie as described, which I didn't get a chance to explain. I also mentioned having a child greet us was unexpected to which he told us he was teaching his child responsibility and that's why she was working. He seemed set off by the feedback I was trying to give and he then threw my credit card onto the table and he told me he didn't want my money. I didn't want a free meal, I wanted to give feedback into our experience which I would classify as the worst restaurant service I have ever had. I keep replaying the whole experience trying to figure out what I could have done differently to have had a positive experience but as a long time server in Santa Barbara I'm having a hard time reconciling this crazy experience.
