I stopped by and it was quite busy. A lot of happy customers singing and drinking. They had live music which was nice. We ordered their cheese and charcuterie board and a marguerita pizza. What can I say delicious and even more delicious! Everything tasted fresh but I especially enjoyed the salami and copa. read more

Three of us descended on Villa and were immediately made to feel right at home by the Portuguese-speaking American owner. We started with Bruschetta, being careful to use the proper Italian pronunciation since our host had recently traveled to Rome to pick up his daughter from a student exchange program. We then split the kale salad and the charcuterie/cheese plate. My daughter said she hated kale, but this salad converted her. It was good, but even better would have been to use baby kale. Being a beer aficionado, I appreciated the eight choices they had on draft. Being from South Texas, I may never find my way again, but for sure I can recommend it for its good food and welcoming atmosphere. read more

Owner is very nice. She's from Brazil and speaks Portuguese. I was just in Portugal, they speak a different kind of Portuguese there but it sounded similar so I had to ask. There's some good reds by the glass but unfortunately no Sangiovese. If there was a Sangiovese I would give 5 stars. Still absolutely an awesome place. Very much a local spot. My husband and I had dinner at the Villa Wine Bar & Kitchen last night, after a long day traveling and then about a 20-minute walk from our beachside hotel, strangely over mostly dark sidewalks with very few streetlights in SB, but what a truly great welcome at the Villa! First we met the charming and friendly owner, Sean, and then we were introduced to the food, WOW! In addition to a nice beer for my husband, the El Segundo White Dog IPA ($8) and a glass of 2020 Byron Pinot Noir ($13) for me, we enjoyed apps of olives ($5, with pits, flavored with herbs) and a delicious anchovies crostini with artichoke hearts, red onion, parmesan ($12). Then for our main dishes, we really enjoyed the Panini Caprese with buffalo mozzarella, vine tomato, basil and arugula ($14) and the Blue cheese pizza with mozzarella, prosciutto, artichoke, basil ($20). Both were seriously, for real, top of the line! That pizza was giving me life. I have eaten probably hundreds of pizzas in my life, and this was for sure in the top 10! The ingredients are clearly excellent quality, fresh and handled with skill and respect. And you get a generous 8 slices, not some puny business envelope-sized rectangle for some crazy price like some unnamed places I've been to in San Francisco ;-) The chef was clocking out shortly before we left too, and I gladly shared with him how wonderful his dishes were, and he was clearly pleased and proud, as he should be! :-) Thanks for a great dinner -- and leftover pizza for breakfast! Gabi was also very helpful and responsive when planning for the day. A few weeks ago, we held our rehearsal dinner at Villa Wine Bar and it was exactly what we were looking for! Low stress, delicious food, and excellent wine and beer! Gabi was so easy to work with and helped us create a perfect menu for our guests! She let us play some overhead music, and let our wedding planner come a little early to decorate our tables! I also loved that we had the entire place to ourselves, and that we communicated directly with the owners. You could tell, this adorable restaurant has a lot of love behind it! We attended (again) their sushi night event. Last night I noted that 100% of arriving guests hugged and greeted Gabi and Sean as if they were long-time family/friends. Sean answered a huge pile of questions that we asked about the taps and wine selection. I just don't understand how these owners can seem so unhurried and yet manage to delight a room filled with guests. I describe Villa as a place that nearly replicates a visit to a European city but without the expense of the flight and hotel. I am notoriously cheap when it comes to dining out, yet Villa is one of the few places where I feel like every dollar was replaced with great value and satisfied smiles. Also, Note to fellow beer geeks. Sean's taps never disappoint. He is like a professor of fermentation. I always get the right glass and pouring style to match the type of beer. read more

This wine bar is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the detour! Great wine and beer selection in an amazing setting. There is a fountain inside with Spanish influences. So cool! They also have a kitchen and serve cheese plates and salads. If you are looking for a low key spot to enjoy a glass of fine wine or a pint of beer away from the crowds in the Funk Zone, this is the place for you! Cheers! read more

Holy smokes - so many good things about this place. This little gem is one of the million other reasons I wish I lived in Santa Barbara. First, the art and the ambiance is great. Second, the food was scrumptious, healthy-ish, and downright tasty. Loved the pizza and the salad. Finally, great wine at decent prices. Sean, the owner, was funny and knowledgeable. WOOOOW. I was blown away by this adorable little wine bar. The customer service was great. They were always checking in on us and were so kind. My friend and I were heading home from Paso Robles and wanted a place to stop for some charcuterie in Santa Barbara. We found Villa Wine Bar, ft pics of their charcuterie boards on Yelp and called to make sure they were open for dining in. Thankfully they were and we stopped in. Didn't catch the servers name, but appeared to be the only one working front of house. She was very kind and helpful. We ordered and took our seats outside. I got a glass of Cab and my friend got Chardonnay. Both great. One of the chefs brought our board and was also very kind. We devoured the plate. It was perfect. I love this place! Usually wine bars have either a great wine selection and OK food -- or great food and a wine list that's just OK. Not here! The ambience is cozy and welcoming. The owners are warm and accommodating. And the clientele ranges from young to retired and up. It's a bustling scene on the weekends with a fun feel. Villa Wine Bar and Kitchen is a beautiful wine bar, set one block off State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara. The old Spanish decor and gorgeous fountain add to the charm and appeal of this quaint business. They serve craft beer and wine both locally sourced and worldwide. The owners have owned Vino Divino Wine Shop for years and they know great wine. The menu changes constantly so it is the perfect place to go if you like trying new, delicious beer and wine. There is always an extensive selection of craft brews to chose from. They have a fabulous happy hour Tues - Sat 4pm - 6pm with discounts on tapas and panini, house red, white and rose wine for $5 and $1 off all beers. The rose is quite refreshing. I also love their Bruschetta! Dare I say it is the best classic bruschetta that I have ever tasted. The tomatoes are fresh, ripe and flavorful. It's perfectly seasoned - just, so good. Villa is a wonderful place to start your evening, unwind after work, gather with friends or partake in a little night cap. It's also a fabulous location for a private party. The decor is so lovely on its own, you'd hardly need to do anything to decorate it. The staff are warm and welcoming. It's a local favorite amongst regulars who know about this hidden gem. Excellent addition to the downtown SB beer and wine scene. Great selection of wines from all over and an absolutely great beer selection on tap and in bottles. Only 8 taps but man some amazing stuff you just don't see most places. Sean and Gabby are the greatest people and they really know their stuff, they've done a great job here and we love it The decor is great too and right across the street from a ton of parking. Villa Wine Bar is a cozy little wine bar off the beaten path of State Street. Their wine selection is awesome and ever changing. Their selection of wine, beer and food makes for a great date night spot. Their cheese plate is AMAZING and so beautiful! I've also enjoyed their paninis and salads. They have bar seating or you can sit at one of their tables. The room has classic Santa Barbara decor, a fountain and painted tiles. Unbelievable! Great, great,great people! Amazing selection of wine and brews with an incredible food selection. We shared the charcuterie plate which had local cheese and candied nuts. I think this is a hidden gem of Santa Barbara. We have been for many nights including Brazilian jazz and eclectic rocker. We enjoy Sean and Gabby Bd the chef. So much good food and great drinks. I came here on Sunday evening, 1/13 and the food was great, but the service was not. I think the owner assisted me and I was not getting the service that I should deserve. I had to flag him down with my hand to ask for water, to order and for the check. He was too busy talking to his regular customers at the bar. Poor Service = no tip. read more

You can really enjoy yourself here with warm friendly staff who provide good service . The food was scrumptious with nice varriety and good selection of wines and beers to drink. Ok so this wine bar just very well may be the best venue in Santa Barbara. Locally owned and operated, it has a fantastic wine selection and great light food menu. They often have a live guitarist who is off-the-chart amazing, playing Spanish-style- flamenco variety music. (forgive me I'm not an expert in music genre names) We were in a group, and it was the perfect ambiance and sound level to talk and enjoy the music. It would be a great place to take a date. Kind, Friend, Love. These are the words that come to mind when I think of Villa Wine Bar. Greeted by the glistening blue waves of light emanating from the towering mosaic of azure Spanish tile and crystal clear water, walking into this neighborhood wine and beer bar is like being pulled into a memorizing dream of the Spanish Riviera. The hors d'oeuvres and libations fetch memories of the old world when food and drink was beautiful and beauty was simplicity. He made the day unforgettable with great wine from Pence and other wineries, beautiful views of the Santa Ynez wine country, excellent food and pairings of wine. Mickey is also a sommelier, and his knowledge really shows. He not only educated us on the wines but also highlighted and supported other local businesses. She was incredibly friendly, took the time to explain the menu, and walked us through the wines we selected, making us feel comfortable and never rushed. We also ordered the charcuterie board, and it exceeded our expectations. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and it was surprisingly filling for the two of us. Between the welcoming service, delicious food, and relaxed atmosphere, this ended up being one of our favorite stops in Santa Barbara. We eventually had to flag down another member of the staff just to get any service at all. Even after we caught his attention, our server seemed aware of us but made no effort to approach or assist. Additionally, the wait time for our wine flights was excessively long. When the cheese board finally arrived, I was shocked to find that all three cheeses were served still inside their original plastic wrappers--not even sliced. To make matters worse, we were provided with plastic knives to cut the cheese ourselves, which was incredibly difficult and frustrating. I have never encountered a cheese board served this way at any establishment. I really wanted to enjoy this visit, and I want to give credit to the other waitresses who were working that day--they were great and were the only saving grace of the experience. However, the lack of basic service and the bizarre presentation of the food made this a trip I wouldn't recommend

There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. So much to love about these 10 blocks of Shopping, Wine, Beer, Coffee, Restaurants, Art, Museums…read moreand Culture, Hotels, and more Shopping. And all nestled nicely between Highway 101 and Cabrillo Blvd, and between Garden Street and State Street. Can't even start with what my favorite spots are, I find a new one each time I visit. Usually plenty of street parking on the weekdays, and on the weekends definitely need to use one of the assorted public parkling lots in the area. You'll also find Live DJ's, Karaoke, Trivia Nights, Live Music, Bingo, Happy/Hoppy Hours . . . and sometimes dancing in the streets.

You can really feel the pride and love that goes into their wines and everything I tasted was delicious! Thankfully, Cory stepped in and was welcoming, professional, and kind enough to offer us samples of the wines we were interested in trying. What was completely unacceptable, however, was Amanda making comments like, "the owner doesn't even like you." This was both inappropriate and unprofessional, especially considering I do not know the owner and the owner does not know me. There was absolutely no reason for such a disrespectful remark. And that is just ONE example of remarks she made to my friend and I. She also talked down on a stutter that I have, just inappropriate!! The manager or owner (not sure which roll he played exactly) seemed to have been drinking because while he was defending his out of line staff, he yelled "I'm not even supposed to be here, I should be out golfing!" As if that was my fault. Overall, this was a horrible experience and a major disappointment from a place I used to genuinely enjoy and recommend to friends. It is unfortunate that what was once a great spot is now associated with such poor treatment and lack of professionalism.

I had one drink outside on the patio with a friend and was going to order another even though the place was empty. For zero reason he cut me off. I was in town for the day, had taken the train, and was there to enjoy the beautiful day. I regret that I called him an ass as I was leaving but he really was. I asked him to describe any behavior of mine that would call for me to be cut off and he couldn't. We left and enjoyed a beer at the Irish bar with no problem and was served by a polite and friendly bartender. Wine Therapy guy might want to take some notes.
