We went to Galaxy 66 our first night in town for a dinner reservation. We walked into a nearly empty restaurant but were greeted by one of the servers. He was very helpful and let us go up to the Skye Bar to see if we would rather sit up there for dinner. We decided to head back downstairs and sit at our reserved table. We were placed at a table off to the corner which was fine but it ended up being at the bottom of the stairs. Through out dinner people we walking by us in both directions which was kind of annoying considering there were so many empty tables. Our server was awesome! He gave us the specials for the night and gave us some of his recommendations. I had a dozen raw oysters which were amazing! We then each had the wahoo which was cooked to perfection! It was served with a cabbage and sprout slaw and pickled beets. It was light and crisp but yet fulfilling. The drinks were good. I had a scotch on the rocks which came out in an 8 ounce rocks glass, and my other half had a mojito. It was her first and she really didn't care for it. Our server recognized she didn't really like it and took it away and brought her back an "orange crush", which is a staple cocktail down here. It was awesome and we really appreciated it. Desert was probable the best part of the whole experience. We ordered the galaxy chocolate box for 2. It was a 6 by 4 dark chocolate box filled with a light but rich chocolate mouse and chocolate truffle flakes. It was sweet, sexy and just what we needed to finish off our experience. The sun came out so I decided to take a chance and have lunch. On 8-25-11, while I was supposed to be evacuating pre-Irene, I'm sitting up at the bar at Galaxy 66 enjoying what could possibly have been my last Crabcake sandwich. It was pretty doggone delicious. Plenty of lump. Some backfin. No noticeable appendages. Slight hint of filler. But not annoying. The bun was warm and soft. Oh boy. And the spinach leaves were a nice addition instead of plain ol' lettuce! The hand-cut, house made potato wedges were awesome. So was the old-bay tartar sauce. I completely enjoyed my pre-Irene lunch. I'm a fan of Galaxy 66 and can't wait to return to take in the full aura of the place. I'm a fan! read more

I came here on a Sat night, where I assumed a place that had such an impressive exterior AND interior would be packed......just kidding there was like 3 people there. My fiancé and I enjoyed Skye Bar so much that I went twice on the same day! The first round was for happy hour - consisting of orange crushes, clams & oysters. I stopped by a convenience store to pick up a few supplies for my hotel room and asked where locals go to get a good crabcake. I was directed to this place. I arrived late in the afternoon, so I was unsure if they were even open (they were). I sat at the bar and ordered a crab cake with fries. I got an Evo beer that seemed to be the most exotic selection. The crab cake was small, just larger than a slider. The fries were good, and seemed like they were fresh rather than reheated frozen. The lettuce wasn't iceberg (which was a bonus). I asked for hot sauce and they brought out a little cup of Frank's (yeah, I can tell). But for the cost of the meal, I was left hungry. First off - on the slow night when we were there, there was at least 6 people buzzing around looking busy, yet the bathroom was disgusting. The decor is tacky...bright yellow and navy blue with christmas tree ornaments as stars hanging from the ceiling is hardly appetizing. We sat at the bar - got prompt service but the bartender had zero personality. Not feeling very hungry we ordered the the cheese plate and the seared tuna. Cheese plate was fine (manchego, st. andre and bruder basil) solid selections. I would figure for a restaurant they would have some sort of bread as an accompaniment. It was mini-toasts (yes the ones available in the grocery store). The tuna was seared too much and the watermelon soup underneath it was revolting. Me and my girlfriend wanted to check this place out, so we did. We were quite excited based on the outside appearance of it and the fact that it had a sky bar. Needless to say, the food was not good...at least not what we ordered. However, it is a cool environment to have a nice drink with your love interest or a group of friends. We ordered 2 appetizers only - spinach dip and the lobster mac n cheese. We were told that the lobster mac n cheese was the "best and most popular". It literally tasted like regular boxed macaroni and cheese with too much butter in it, but the lobster meat was very tasty. I could have made this at home. It was also ENTIRELY TOO BLAND. I had to add a good amount of salt just to consume this stuff. The spinach dip we ordered was good, but way too rich and cheesy. The cheese seemed never-ending. Maybe someone else might like theirs like that, but I do not. Oh, Galaxy 66. On our last night in Ocean City, our concierge sent us here...honestly, from the outside I thought this was an arcade. The front room of seating is really awkward so I asked for a more private table and they said they needed some time to clear it, so we went up to the roof instead. Black light lit bottles, nice heaters, and the rooftop has way more ambiance than the inside. The bartending team of Jason/Shane were pretty adorable I must admit. They took great care of us and I kind of felt like they were cute kid brothers. The pour on the Blanton's was stellar and I enjoyed my cosmo (I embraced the galaxy vibe)... Unfortunately, we found the menu here to be so bizarre that we were actually afraid to eat here. From seared tuna, to "pizza", to the best cheese steak to pistachio crusted grouper, I could not find a common thread to the food. We looked and each other and were both baffled about what to even order. We ended up ordering the seared tuna (little flavor, cooked fine, meh) and the tri tip steak over potato appetizer (good flavor on the steak, tender, nicely seasoned potatoes) -- and hitting the road... Can't imagine who/what this place is supposed to serve - it truly is a bizarre smattering. But Jason/Shane rule and the rooftop is nice for drinks! read more

Eating here now as I type . Celebrating our 6 year anniversary and having dinner here . Ambiance A++. There's and band playing and the weather is nice , yet chilly. (5/31). Party of 4 total since we are down in OC with some friends . Tuna came out medium well yet she didn't find the courage to send it back .menu states med rare ! " Best cheesesteak" is laughable as my buddy said . My wife enjoyed her lobster Mac . I ordered the 16 oz ribeye which I ordered med . It came out med well. Sent it back to find Roger come out and question the steak temperature . Insulating to say the least . They brought me out another one only for it to be still mooooing . Was that a stab at me for saying the previous one was over cooked ? I think so .... Oysters were on point ! Super tasty ! Had crab dip which was Just OK. Drinks were very, very good . Skye Bar Review They've just expanded the rooftop bar area. What a phenomenal addition to day drinking location options in Ocean City. Fully stocked bar with a great drink menu, happy hour and raw oyster specials. Live entertainment! A super friendly cover band singing all your favorite jams from the past 20 years. Funny bartenders who harmfully flirt. What's not to love. Can't wait to come back here on my next trip. I can taste the orange crush already! read more

how often do you remember a meal a year or so down the road? I went here for restaurant week in the summer of 2008. We weren't expecting much and I had a vegetarian with me. Not sure if people are aware but Ocean City isn't exceedingly vegetarian friendly and you can't just assume there will be something on the menu for them to eat like you can in regular cities. We went there because they were one of the few restaurants providing a vegetarian 3 courses meal. The decor is pretty hip, the place looks pretty nice. think galaxy. :) I liked the look of the place. As everywhere in OC, you have your people in flip flops and shorts and your people in really nice dresses. I'd say the place is a step up from beachwear but by no means formal. I started with the seared scallops. This was the best part of my meal, and is now something i try to replicate. The dish included perfectly seared scallops alongside a round breaded and fried piece of goat cheese, surrounded in an absolutely fantastic cranberry and jalapeno chutney. I debated on whether to get it since I'm not great with spicy foods but this wasn't too much. and the flavors went perfect together even though it didn't seem like they should. Another person i know got the tenderloin tips as an appetizer which was delicious and another had the mesculin salad, i believe. the appetizers were a solid 5 stars and far exceeded my expectations. for the next course i had the pistachios encrusted rock fish. This was okay. it wasn't on the same level as our appetizers, but it was obviously fresh and cooked well. I enjoyed it, but i felt it was a bit under-seasoned. There was a little bit to much food. normally this isn't a problem when you're going home but most people in ocean city are dining before going out, and we walk from our hotel. in the future I'd probably just share a bunch of appetizers instead of getting app + dinner. the vegetarian loved the veggie pasta dish he had which was cooked and seasoned just perfect. I had the creme bruleé for dessert but by then i was too stuffed to eat much of it. it was good, but nothing special. probably above average as far as ocean city fancy desserts go. I'd definitely check it out for restaurant week again and will be back next summer. read more

Enjoyed the food, and the drinks were great, but enjoyed the atmosphere at the Skye Bar even more. The weather was simply awful when we were there, but we moved to seats under the covered bar area just in time before the downpour, and under there it was cozy & the staff was very friendly. It was the end of the summer, and so things had quieted down in OC already, and everyone seemed to be in a good mood despite the weather. They let us hook up my iPhone into the sound system when one of the staff members got off of work and was taking his iPod (which was previously hooked up) with him, so, obviously, we enjoyed the music, and danced in between the rain downpours, and just had a great time. The food was great, and the service was even better. Overall, a great time here. I hope they survived Hurricane Sandy without too much damage, as I know the OC boardwalk was just destroyed..... read more

You really can't complain about a fully-comped dinner in Ocean City. The girlie and I came here for our one-year anniversary. At the bar, we had the shrimp risotto. It was really good. It was seasoned well and had a good flavor profile (red peppers, basil, etc.) However, dinner was a little over the top. The grilled chicken sandwich was NOT worth the $12. It was bland and boring. I have never been more disappointed in an eating establishment in my entire life. I was visiting Ocean City for the first time and in the off season, so there were very few open restaurants. My sister had been to galaxy's sky bar before and enjoyed it so we decided to have dinner there. We ordered two dishes and were given some very tasty bread rolls. She ordered their Philly cheesesteak and I ordered the pork chop. When it finally arrived we were both very impressed. They were nicely presented and it looked very tasty. The very first bite I took, I felt a hair in my mouth. My stomach immediately turned, and I spit it out and pulled out a blonde hair. I have black hair, and my waitress had blond hair. I waited for someone to come to our table so I could give it back but the waitress was leisurely hanging out by the kitchen. Finally I got up and told the man who seated us that there was a hair in my food. He immediately apologized and took it away to remake it. By this time my sister was almost finished with her meal and I didn't want to wait another 25 minutes for my plate, so I told them to cancel it. I was not upset about this at all until our waitress finally came back to our table. She brought us our check and showed us that they "went ahead and took off the pork chop from the bill." No shit, Sherlock. I didn't eat a bite of that meal, and I could not BELIEVE she still charged us for my sister's meal. I am not wanting a free meal at all, I just couldn't believe they were honestly not trying to remedy the problem at all. It's off season, and there were very few people in the restaurant, you would think they would TRY to keep their customers happy. We paid and I insisted we didn't leave a tip. But we did leave a nice little note on the receipt. ;) Ps- afterwards, while looking on here, I saw that someone had a latex glove baked into their spinach dip! Moral of the story is.. As most know, OC MD is not the place to get great food. Most of the places are fast food or overly hyped. We're from Philly and are spoiled with great places to eat. We came upon this place through a search on Yelp! We are glad we did too. The food was really good and we were able to find something for the kids. Do yourself a favor and get desert. It's been years since my husband & I dined here but we are glad we did this past Labor Day weekend! He suggested it for my birthday dinner. We arrived and were seated quickly- although we were not given a choice as to which dining area- we were sat in the bar area. Not my first choice- but fine, the hostess sat us so fasts we didn't feel comfortable asking if there were other seating options. The trio of musicians preforming were pleasant to listen to but the volume a bit overwhelming for the space. No big deal- just something I noticed- my husband & I couldn't really talk together without getting super close. Our server was wonderful! She did however- miss understand my husband's drink order- most likely couldn't hear him over the music- but we didn't complain. Our food was delicious- he had the filet and I had the special for the evening- Grilled Monk Fish. The portions are small (I like that) and expensive so be prepared to pay but overall the quality is perfect. Our desert was wonderful and the check is served with homemade chocolates- nice touch! I went with friends for dinner during the off-season; and I was pretty happy with the results. To begin with, most restaurants in OC are pretty "meh" because it is a tourist town, they get away with it. The food at Galaxy 66 was delicious, they actually prepare the seafood very well and creatively. Their drink menu is insane and very creative, their wine list is exhaustive and covers a variety of price points. Also, their lighter fare/lunch/bar menu looked just as creative and delicious as their dinner menu. The only complaint I have is that the tables are very small! I understand trying to maximize seating during the busy season, but given that it was the off season and the restaurant was pretty much empty--I felt cramming four people at a table for two was a little unnecessary. Drinks + food left the table feeling very crowded and there was no offer or attempt to expand the table. It's also a little loud and you have to use your lungs to be heard to your table mates! Other than that, I highly recommend. There aren't many restaurants in the area that I actually end up craving their food, or that make me want to eat out, but this is definitely one of them. The vibe is such that you can dress up/dress down, it isn't a huge deal. If you go, try the scallops. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. read more

This is a review for the Skye Bar only. What a great place to get a drink, catch a nice breeze, and check out OC from above! The bar is gorgeous. If I was able to turn back the clock 5 or 6 years to my drinking/partying days, I think I would have spent a lot of time here. Good bar menu with raw bar and plenty of interesting specialty drinks to choose from. We enjoyed a 3 piece jazz band during happy hour. The bathroom was very cute, but the odor was not. We were walking by Galaxy and heard music from the rooftop. We walked into this really nice restaurant that had a live band, it looked so nice I was a little amazed this was in OC. The food that passed us looked like food from a tv show. anyhow, we didnt eat but we did enjoy the rest of our night at the roof top. good music, fun people, and a great time. This place looks really cool from the outside but as soon as you get in there things get awkward. We just went here for some drinks and dessert and it was just a strange experience. The Vanilla Cheesecake was very good but the drinks were really bad. Even the Diet Coke had a strange taste to it. Our waiter was also super awkward. I don't think we'll be returning. read more

We have heard some great things about this place. Wish we had checked here first. Our server must have been new to the world of fine dinning, or serving period. His attention to detail was mostly nonexistent. He seemed a bit flustered but it appeared he only had 3 tables, including ours seated. The rest of the staff seemed busy but there were not many tables seated. One of the managers(suit and tie) was behind the line helping the kitchen staff and it looked like the owner was helping with the food running(half attempting). Later I saw the same manager behind the bar serving drinks and helping himself to some vodka straight out of the bottle. He did not think anyone was looking. Anyhow, the food was not bad, but not that great either. The $28 Veal Porterhouse I ordered was more like eating a dry pork chop. My wifes seafood dish was so so, and a bit fishy. Overall it was a lack luster meal, with lack luster service, and hideous decor to top everything off. We will not be going back. read more

Went to Skye Bar this evening with my wife and two friends and had a terrific time and it was due in large part to our server, Camryn (sp). She was absolutely awesome! She engaged with us, took multiple photos of us, was super attentive to our drinks and food, and made us feel like we were some of her best friends. Really.....10 guys walk in to eat and drink after golf. Steaks, martini's, beers.... big bill right. Galaxy 66 offers a pleasant escape from the typical OC summer atmosphere, but is still has a lively scene in the off season. The food (they have the best tomato bisque) and cocktails are very good here. Service can be a little slow during the summer, but all of the staff is very friendly. The service is actually one of the things I enjoy most about Galaxy. I was in the area recently visiting family I got a horrible cold. They dragged me out to Galaxy even though I would have much preferred to curl up in bed and slip into a NyQuil coma. The bartender offered to make me a hot toddy-esque cocktail that wasn't on the menu and to which he swore would fight off any cold. Even though it wasn't the cure to the common cold, it was soothing and very tasty, and he didn't charge me for the first one. The best way to a girl's heart is through her liver! read more

I went there because one of my girlfriend's wanted oysters. We were told that you could only have oysters if you eat in the bar upstairs. We didn't want to eat in the bar upstairs - we just wanted oysters. We were told repeatedly that it wasn't going to happen. So, we ended up staying anyway because we were on a time budget. I had a crab cake sandwich, hold the bread. It was $13 and came with a handful of giant fries. The crab cake was good (broiled) and the fries were okay but on the dry side I would have preferred smaller fries and a bigger crab cake. The service was fine. The atmosphere was trying to be edgy and funky but failed slightly. .Parkuibg was terrible as this place is in a strip center and most of the spaces are reserved for the next door liquor store. read more

Bad experience! Not recommended! For starters the bar lost my credit card and did nothing to make it right. To make it worse I ended up with a bunch of fraudulent charges some were from galaxy 66 a half hour the card was reported stolen. The manager didn't know customer service either as she could have cared less that her establishment was liable. Restaurant/bar were extremely slow and food is not worth the money. If you want a good meal with atmosphere try fagars island, fresco's, the hobbit or sunset grille. You will be much happier. read more

My wife and I went to the Galaxy 66 for our anniversary. We had to go up several flights of stairs to get to the "Skye Bar" at the Galaxy 66. It was definitely worth the walk. It is casual with plenty of TV screens (nice, in the midst of March madness). There are skylights which are opened during the warmer weather, and an outside deck. We arrived just in time to see the sunset on the bay to the west. To the east, there is an ocean view. Our daughter recommended that we try the scallops as an appetizer. The scallops were seared and came with a cranberry relish and a port reduction, which offset the pickled jalapenos. There was a crispy goat cheese with peanuts. Although there were only 3 scallops, they were outstanding! We had some questions about the entrees and our server was able to describe the items very well. My wife had the rib eye steak which came with Parmesan cheese and was served over smashed potatoes and garlic asparagus with a sweet glaze. It was cooked perfectly and we had plenty left over to have with eggs for breakfast the next day. I went for the Cajun grilled salmon with Chipotle oil. It was blackened on the outside; just the right amount of crispiness and the salmon was fabulous. This was also served over the smashed potatoes, but with "candied" Brussels sprouts. Dessert was carrot cake with thin slices of strawberries on the top. Tasty cake with smooth icing, so good! Our server indicated that all of the desserts are baked fresh at the restaurant by the same baker. It is hard to describe the atmosphere, but just it is just a great place to enjoy a fantastic atmosphere and great food. Not cheap but well worth the price! read more

For Ocean City, I think this restaurant is as good as it gets. My dad and I have been here for a week, our second of the year (we always spend 2 weeks here) and we were looking for a new-to-us and different from our normal, aka not Italian or fast food. We decided to stop at Galaxy 66, and we were not disappointed. When we got our menus we thought it was a little pricey for OC ($8-10 salads, $10-15 lite fare, $15-25 entrees, $8 desserts and $7 drinks), but in the end it was worth every penny. We started off the night with a strawberry salad (apples, candied walnuts, goat cheese, spring greens) and Caesar salad (it had a southwest feel to it, we couldn't quite put our finger on the flavor though). We also just ordered from the "lite fare" side of the menu. The cheese steak was anything but ordinary, it had lettuce cheese and other exquisite flavors, a simply wonderful blend, probably the best cheese steak I've ever had (and I live near Philly!). These dishes were PLENTY of food. So we got the chocolate box for two dessert, to go. My only complaint is that the music (we sat inside) was a little bit loud, since there were no soft surfaces, no sound was absorbed.
