The dip was creamy abd tasty with a decent portion of crab meat. The shrimp are tasty. The crab cakes are mostly crab meat with the majority flavor profile being old bay. Blu Crabhouse was such a great experience! Our server, Lindsey, provided 10/10 service and was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. We sat in the beach area, which had a fun, festive atmosphere with a live band playing out front. The restaurant is spacious with several different seating areas and a great menu selection. First time here - and in OC - visiting from New Jersey. Very cool outdoor area where you have a good view from the bay (sunset view was on the spot when we arrived). They were busy and kinda packed so we decided to take a high top (family of 4 with 2 kids) where they warned us we needed to get everything ourselves from the bar (drinks and food, which is very weird if you tell me). Drinks were good and strong enough, we ordered two strawberry cocktails with tequila, they tasted almost alike. For food we shared everything. Crab cakes were good but not great. Fried calamari were very good and perfectly cooked. The sauce they brought in with it was good too. Seafood pasta with creamy sauce was good but sauce was a little too watery, good flavor though. I came here on a Saturday night with an online reservation for two. When we made the reservation online, we were able to choose where we wanted to sit (inside, outside, 2nd floor outside facing the water, etc.). The place was popping with live music in the 1st floor outside patio area. We ordered the crab & corn chowder and the mixed steamer pot which came with 3 small-medium sized blue crabs, 2 clusters of snow crab legs, shrimp, mussels, clams, sausages, potatoes, and corn on the cob). The crabs and snow crab legs were pretty meaty and well seasoned. The meat in the snow crab legs were easy to remove, sweet & juicy. The shrimp was on the smaller size. Otherwise, the rest of the steamer pot was unseasoned for some reason. Not sure why they don't just season the whole steamer pot. Our server Lindsey was friendly and very attentive even though it was very crowded during peak dinner time. We chose this restaurant because we wanted to enjoy dinner outside by the water, and it ended up being a great experience from start to finish. We were greeted by friendly hosts when we arrived and were seated right away at a table right by the water, which made for a perfect setting. It was really pretty eating right by the water, and some of the tables even had sand at your feet, which really added to the beachy atmosphere. Our server, Murphy, came over almost immediately with waters for the table, took our drink order, and even offered suggestions for bar drinks, which I really appreciated. When it was time to order, he was patient, helpful, and attentive. Three out of four of us ordered the all-you-can-eat crabs, and I thought it was especially thoughtful that Murphy asked how we wanted the next round of crabs brought out. The food came out pretty quickly, the portions were generous, and while the crabs themselves weren't huge, they were hot and well seasoned. Murphy was excellent throughout the meal. He stayed on top of drink refills, crab refills, refreshing our shell bucket, and bringing extra napkins without us having to ask. He truly provided outstanding service. The ambiance was cute and we were directed to the other end of the restaurant to be seated on the rooftop by the water. It was beautiful especially watching the sunset. It was busy and our server did the best she could to be attentive during that time. We didn't have and utensils on our table. We started off with a salad and crab dip. The crab dip came with a warm soft pretzel and some hard crackers. The pretzel was delicious and we enjoyed that. We also ordered wine and a pitcher of sangria for the table. This might be the only bad review I've ever felt I needed to write. The Bar staff were rude taking our order, when the food came out it was so overpriced and disappointingly cooked, it was soft and overcooked. Our seafood was advertised as fresh and it was served cooked frozen (shrimp was $20 and we only got 3 of them). We were told that they were all out of crab crackers for the seafood boil we ordered, and the hostess told us it was a 40 minute wait even though 80% of the tables were empty. read more

We have been going to this restaurant every single year that we come to Ocean City and it never disappoints. This year we were down with extended family and raves about how great it was. I unfortunately it did not even come close to our usual expectations. Our waitress was good, of course trying to up our bill for a larger tip. The salmon stuffed with crabmeat wasn't truly stuffed, primarily on top, but the salmon had a funky taste to it. I honestly just made sure to take crab in the same bite as I didn't want to complain in front of our family. We looked and under the total was (suggested 20% gratuity), then below that was the tax and below that was the total bill which INCLUDED the tip. So we put in another round of crabs and they brought out 10 crabs to share between 2 people. They give you a bucket for your waste and a roll of paper towels. We went to town with the crabs. However a mix up in the kitchen delayed our app and the manager was QUICK to deliver it, apologize, and take it off the ticket which was generous. Seafood pasta was delicious, full of fresh huge scallops and shrimp with a delicious warm spiced cream sauce. Love love love it. Crab cake was big, more crab than breading. Could have used a touch more on the cook but delicious flavor profile. Crab claws were cooked correctly and the kids meal was a perfect size for the kiddo. They should've used some of the seasoning from the batter on the pasta meal. Plus I paid $60 for just me, for a really gross meal. And the service was slow and rude. Decided to come here while in town for the weekend. It was super packed and pouring down raining outside. There was a long wait but luckily we were able to grab 2 seats at the bar. My boyfriend got the fried green tomato appetizers & I got the calamari which is my favorite!! The tomatoes came with scallops and bacon on top which was super yummy!! The calamari was super tender and not chewy like lots of places. They also were seasoned very well, didn't even need any sauce but if it came with the boom boom sauce that would make it even more delicious lol.
