On my first visit, my friend and I ordered the Canelés de Bordeaux, Pain au Chocolat, Soft Scrambled Egg Plate, and Breakfast Burrito. We came back again for breakfast and tried the scrambled eggs toast and a savory waffle. Everything we had was delicious, but the Soft Scrambled Egg Plate was truly something special. The eggs were unbelievably light and fluffy, paired with perfectly buttered, toasted bread that somehow felt magical in its simplicity. The heirloom tomatoes and creamy avocado added such a fresh, balanced touch. It's a simple dish, but the execution was exceptional--and honestly, that's what makes it so memorable. I know it sounds a little crazy to return twice for something so simple, but it was just that well done. The breakfast burrito was a strong second favorite. We took it to go as we continued our road trip toward the Four Corners Monument, and it held up really well. It was packed with flavor, and I especially loved that the tortilla had a nice crisp to it. The pastries were also excellent--flaky, buttery, and everything you'd hope for--but for me, that scrambled egg plate is the standout and something I would come back for again and again.

We had a standard queen room both times and it's spacious, bathroom has two sinks one in and one out so yconvenient for two people sharing. The pool is a roundish shape but large enough to swim some laps when there aren't a lot of children there. There are four 2 level inter connected buildings and #4 being the furthest away from the lobby - you can park your car (parking is free) close to any building but it's a bit of a walk on foot. Location is a bit out of town not walking distance to downtown Flagstaff. Rating it a 3 star due to service. On a day when they don't seem to be full they still wouldn't accommodate a late check out by just an hour (at noon instead of 11 am) which I didn't think would have made any difference to them but would have made a huge one for us. Then there is the breakfast. Nice dining room and all, but service was slow and the food came lukewarm, this at a time when it was early and hardly anyone in the dining room. And in addition to that, I had tea and it came in a tea pot with one weak tea bag, and as I like my tea strong I asked for another tea bag in the same pot and was told I'd be charged a second pot of tea ($5). This kind of stinginess just doesn't befit the seeming stature of such a hotel. And finally, the teacup they gave me had a long crack in it - I discovered it when i saw the saucer filing up with tea and didn't think I spilled any in it. The crack was old and stained, not a new one, so it was shocking that no staff had noticed it for this long and cared enough to not continue using it. Let's just say I'd never encountered broken cups like this in lesser priced motels. For this trip to Flagstaff I also had a two-night stay in another hotel downtown and other than the swimming pool, it was much better value and more comfortable with more helpful staff - and no broken tea cups!

We were in day 3 of a 36-inch snowfall. Galaxy Diner was nearby, so we went for dinner. As soon as we entered, it was as if we'd ventured about 60 years back in time. Fun decor with 100s of Hollwood photos on the walls. Everything was also well maintained and clean. Mike, our server, advised us they make everything themselves. We put that statement to the test. Mike wasn't kidding. It was all homemade My GF ordered a bowl of one of 2 soups of the day and was told she could order a free refill, and she got their outstanding broccoli and cheddar soup. I ordered a cup, too, and was pleased to see it served in a large mug. It's better than I've had in Wisconsin. I ordered Potsie's pot roast and was floored at how good it was. Even the side of bread exceptional. We went for breakfast the next morning on our return to Tucson. My GF had the Rocky Mountain High plate, which was truly filling, and I ordered sausage gravy biscuits and eggs. The gravy was a little better than average, and the biscuits were excellent. I ordered their endless coffee, my wife ordered a bottled coke that came with a glass and ice. As it was just after 10 AM, We decided to order breakfast. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy with bacon. This is served with two biscuits smothered in gravy with bacon crumbles sprinkled on the gravy and fried county potatoes. There is no strips of bacon, just a lot of bacon crumbles. The county potatoes are small (just about large cherry tomato size) potatoes that are cut in half and fried. The outside is crispy, the inside is soft and well seasoned. Perfect with the gravy. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage that comes either in links or patties. I chose the patties and the addition of two eggs over-easy. The biscuits were crispy on the outside, soft and crumbly on the inside. A very well baked biscuit. The white gravy was seasoned well and delicious. One of the better tasting gravy we have had in a while, although I prefer a sausage gravy. The two sausage patties were properly cooked and definitely added to the overall flavor of the gravy and eggs (cooked properly). To me the county potatoes were the best addition to the plate as I used them to soak up the gravy and egg yolk after the biscuits were gone. I would have liked to see a larger portion of gravy and potatoes on my plate, as my wife's plate had more of both. Likely had to do with the two eggs that occupied real estate on my plate. The endless coffee stayed true to its name, I never ran out of coffee and there was both packaged sugar, sugar substitutes, three types of coffee creamer (half and half, French vanilla and Hazel nut?) Overall the service was attentive, friendly and the food was good and arrived in a reasonable time frame. I would definitely return to the Toasted Owl again.

The Toasted Owl was the one that we picked. I wish I could say, that we were able to eat what I heard was great food there. The hostess was nice. The on duty manager even apologized for the wait. She told me they're cleaning our table. Once we got to the table, my stepmom and I noticed, this was the wettest table ever. The menus were sticking to the table. No big deal, just a dry towel, and problem solves. I asked this young man as he was going by if he could get a dry towel because the table was obviously very wet. He said okay, came back, dropped a stack of napkins on the table. My stepmom and I both rolled our eyes and looked at each other. When he was coming back, I asked him what are the napkins for? He said they are for you to wipe down the table, and then he left. I looked at my stepmom as we both rolled our eyes again, and I said we are not eating here. I explained to the on duty manager why we were not eating there. She did offer to be our waiter, but I said politely of course, no thank you. We were both kind and polite right out of the gate. I'm wondering what was it about this young bus boy, who apparently just got promoted to waiter/server, he would have such an attitude towards us? I have my thoughts. But I'm not going to share them here. It's indicative in my opinion with what's going on with the problems in this country. People judge you for the way you look, or what you wear. But I wonder what it was, that this young man thought about us that he had to treat us the way he did? Maybe this restaurant caters to a certain type or class of people. Maybe we don't fit in that class? But who cares? I come from the school where everybody gets treated the same, with kindness and respect, regardless of sexual orientation, race, religion, political affiliation, and the list goes on. Perhaps, this young man can tell the owner of this restaurant, why he treated us the way he did? By the way, I'm being gratuitous by assuming the food is five stars, as that's what I gave it. I'm just calling the balls and strikes as I see it, one-star service from this one individual.

My husband is very sensitive to black pepper. He asked our server which menu items he could order…read morethat did not have a pre-made sauce containing black pepper. He also has a sore mouth from some recent dental work, so finding restaurant foods that are soft, with no black pepper has been quite the challenge. But our server was so kind. She asked the chef to throw some shrimp on the grill with a little butter and lemon juice, but no salt or pepper on them. Then laid them on a bed of buttered noodles and covered it in Parmesan cheese. I had the beef stroganoff. Can I just say it was delicious! I would definitely order it again. Way to go Northern Pines for taking care of customers with food sensitivities and a sore mouth!

They had a potato green chile soup as the special and it was amazing! Cup was a large portion served with a roll and both were delicious! We also got the grilled chicken club which was good and someone else got the French dip. The waffle fries served with both were delicious . The chicken on the club was marinated and was well cooked and came with tasty bacon! We asked for the sauce served on the side which was good - because we did not enjoy that sauce but the sandwich itself was large and tasty I didn't taste the French dip - it the person who got it said it was ok but not great. The sauce served with it was very tasty and I snagged it to dip my fries Restroom was clean and service was good, and I would come back. Prices were decent as well but in looking at the receipt - they charge a historic tax charge - no way to get around it but I hope they are using it to save historic buildings

Plenty of parking around, and plenty kids/adults in Christmas outfits which made this place magical. Hotel is located in pine tree forest, which is amazing with a lot of hiking trails through the woods, even the playground is in the the woods which is amazing. They also have outside pools which is facing the wood. There is pathway to the hotel, everything is super organized and nice. On the front entrance there are people who are very helpful. Hotel lobby is also magical with fire place and nice sofa and beautiful decorations. On the right side there is a check in point for North Pole experience which is also super organized with no confusion. Definitely will stay here next time. Stayed here on two occasions in June and overall impression is it's a nice resort type hotel in…read moreterms of room and facilities but service could use improvement. We had a standard queen room both times and it's spacious, bathroom has two sinks one in and one out so yconvenient for two people sharing. The pool is a roundish shape but large enough to swim some laps when there aren't a lot of children there. There are four 2 level inter connected buildings and #4 being the furthest away from the lobby - you can park your car (parking is free) close to any building but it's a bit of a walk on foot. Location is a bit out of town not walking distance to downtown Flagstaff. Rating it a 3 star due to service. On a day when they don't seem to be full they still wouldn't accommodate a late check out by just an hour (at noon instead of 11 am) which I didn't think would have made any difference to them but would have made a huge one for us. Then there is the breakfast. Nice dining room and all, but service was slow and the food came lukewarm, this at a time when it was early and hardly anyone in the dining room. And in addition to that, I had tea and it came in a tea pot with one weak tea bag, and as I like my tea strong I asked for another tea bag in the same pot and was told I'd be charged a second pot of tea ($5). This kind of stinginess just doesn't befit the seeming stature of such a hotel. And finally, the teacup they gave me had a long crack in it - I discovered it when i saw the saucer filing up with tea and didn't think I spilled any in it. The crack was old and stained, not a new one, so it was shocking that no staff had noticed it for this long and cared enough to not continue using it. Let's just say I'd never encountered broken cups like this in lesser priced motels. For this trip to Flagstaff I also had a two-night stay in another hotel downtown and other than the swimming pool, it was much better value and more comfortable with more helpful staff - and no broken tea cups!

The service was fast and very friendly. This is sort of a hole in the wall place that is very plain and old school, but I kind of like that and appreciate it. Nothing fancy - just good sandwiches and a place to eat them and hang out if you want. My biggest complaint is that it's hard to find an online menu. They don't have a website- they just use facebook (which doesn't seem current or up to date and no regular postings), and their menu on there is very old. But rest assured that whatever is on that menu is still applicable today - just the prices are different. So I got some pix of the current menu. Hope that helps someone looking.

I was so happy to see the Hecho en Mexico Fanta UVA (grape) in the cooler and slowly enjoyed each sip of that pure cane sugar sweetened nectar. They have plenty of seating and a huge parking lot. Go here and thank me later

We went at 7:17 one evening after a school event and despite the sign saying they close at 8, we were informed after we'd stood inside and decided what to order that they were closed. Today we had planned burgers and shakes as a last day of school treat for the kids, drove to Mama B's and discovered a sign saying they're closed for the day. Just kind of a bummer all around, then, in that we can never actually seem to get to eat here when we've planned to. Very disappointing.
