Healthy options, great staff! Parking is limited but not hard to find! Street parking is cheap, and there are plenty of spaces around the restaurant. Staff is extremely friendly! I had quick service, found a hair in my food, and the staff apologized sincerely for the occurrence and got me a new plate of food expeditiously. The food was excellent and came in big portions. I had the Owls nest, healthy veggies with a kick to it! I'd highly recommend, and I had a coffee that was average but great! The restaurant is beautiful. The toasted owl and their ode to Owls is felt from the design of their restaurant, to their merch, cups, bathrooms all of it. I love when a restaurant carries a theme that is meaningful and fun and they do it right here. This establishment is definitely worth your time. I hope you enjoy it!

Solid food -- tasty plus big portions, making it good bang for buck. Service was very friendly as well. We ended up getting a cute owl mason jar -- everything in the cafe is for sale, which was a cute concept.

Fantastic brunch spot. Eclectic and fun decor. Great outdoor patio. Wonderful service. I had the eggs Benedict with prosciutto and it was perfect.

Service: Our server Beatrice was great, she needs a raise. ASAP! She was very attentive and checked on us often. We were seated by the door, so I really appreciated hearing the gentleman at front that they could wait, but it would have to be outside for a fire regulation. Didn't want people hovering while were eating. Ambiance: Heavy on the owl! It is cute restaurant. Reminds me a lot of Asheville, NC vibe. Food: Great breakfast. The potatoes were the absolute best!

Solid breakfast spot with good service friendly faces and decent food. The place doesn't blow you away with food that's so incredible you won't know what to eat ever again without them but it's a great spot to visit

Had a great and relaxing breakfast on our way out of town. The decor is great (almost everything is for sale!) The menu is huge, with great options for those like me who are allergic to eggs, and their drinks were delicious. Service was quick and attentive. Can't wait to make this a regular stop when we visit Flagstaff!

I'm going to admit straight out of the gate that I should have taken more photos of this eclectic and awesome eatery! Fun, kitschy decor - it's like you found all sorts of antique store and garage sale finds and put them together in a way to works. Art everywhere. Paintings. The patio is divine. The service is excellent. And the food. Oh myyyyyyy. I asked our server for a recommendation and she did not lead me astray. Get yourself the prosciutto and Brie sandwich; you won't regret it! The other members of our party had the BLAT and the breakfast tamales. Everything is fresh a delicious! And did I mention super doggo friendly??? They provide water dishes and everything!

We came here for brunch for a friend's birthday celebration and it was a great start to the day. The outside waiting area was open and refreshing. We were seated within about 20 minutes of arriving and our waiter was with us quickly. We liked the expansive menu with several drink options that were perfect for brunch. I particularly liked the cinnamon screech owl, it reminded me of an alcoholic chai. I got the and roasted potatoes with toast. The potatoes were fantastic! Loved them! Overall we really enjoyed our visit and would come back again. Great spot for brunch with friends.

The food was excellent, our server was delightful however it is cold in Flagstaff and we chose to eat inside instead of their patio because it was so cold 45 degrees once we ordered they opened all the doors and when I asked them to close them they said NO. That to me would not bring me back. We chose to eat inside where it was warm. Very frustrated had to take our food Togo it was that cold.

French toast, pineapple mimosa, breakfast tacos with black beans and vegan chorizo, crispy potatoes

We came as a group of four girls on a busy Saturday afternoon and waited a short while before getting seated at their community table inside with a few other folks. We ordered french toast to share for starters and were told that there would be a $3 per plate charge for us to get plates to split it. When we told them we each planned to order our own meals as well, they forwent (that's a fun word I rarely use...) the extra charge which we appreciated. The french toast ended up being our least favorite part of the meal. It was somewhat hard and lacked flavor. I prefer soggy custard-like french toast. The potatoes were crisped to perfection, though I wished they were a little smaller. I also got the breakfast tacos with black beans and vegan chorizo, which was good but nothing I would crave again. I drank a pineapple mimosa, which was a nice big size and well balanced.

Still amazing; forgot how good the potatoes were - very tasty. French Toast was good; can really taste the cinnamon. Services and vibes always great.

The toasted owl is a fun, quirky restaurant that should definitely be checked out! The restaurant has a lively atmosphere and attentive servers. If you do get a little claustrophobic or overwhelmed with noise, I would recommend coming a little later (it slowed down around 1:30pm on a sunday). The theme for the restaurant is owls, and they do not let you forget! Everything in the café is for sale, so if you fall in love with something on the wall just let your server know! My party of 3 sat at the bar due to how busy it was, and we didn't feel forgotten by our server... which tends to happen when you sit at the bar at other places. She was extremely nice and our drinks and food were brought out promptly. I ordered a ruben with pastrami. The pastrami was delicious, it wasn't too salty or greasy. The ratio of saurkraut, dressing, cheese, pastrami, and bread was perfect and the sandwhich didn't feel heavy. The other people in my party ordered a BLAT and a BBQ Western Burger. They both loved their food as well and had absoloutly no complaints. The lunch entrees come with a side of fries and they were fantastic, I would come back just for their fries. I would definitely check out this restaurant next time you are in flagstaff so that you can enjoy their unique vibe and great food! Although we ended up having a great experience, I wanted to mention the horrible experience we had with the hostess. My party of 3 (women) walked in and were followed by a party of 5. The hostess made eye contact with us and then promptly ignored us 3 and turned automatically to the man in the party of 5 behind us and asked how many he had in his party in order to put them on the waitlist. He said 5 and even signaled who was in his party (not us). Even though it was a little rude of the hostess and a bit frustrating for her to just skip over us, we would have just ignored it and gotten over it.... except, the other woman at the desk realized what happened and in order to "make things right" she tried to put us on the waitlist. The hostess overheard her and rudely snapped at her, the poor woman then just apologized to us and said that the other girl was the hostess and could help us in a minute. The other woman reacted as if this was something that is a common occurance with this hostess. As soon as the hostess was done with putting the party of 5 on the list, she turned to us. I was the one who spoke with her and had her add us to the waitlist. She was still beyond rude, she was rolling her eyes persistently at me and had a not so friendly tone...it almost was like she had an extremely personal issue with my party? When I was giving her my phone number for the waitlist she had me repeat it about 10 times, I had pronounced the numbers extremely clearly, slowly, and loud enough to be heard each time. She added us to the waitlist and told us how long the wait was and then physically gave the hand signal to shoo us off. We stepped outside to wait for our table and were about to have the "what the heck just happened conversation" when in less than minute, a different staff member who was around the hostess desk when we checked in came out and asked if we would be okay with sitting at the bar. She was extremely nice and our experience went up from there. I wanted to mention this because the hostess is the face of the restaurant, she is the first person that anyone interacts with when they walk in those doors and she sets the tone for their experience. If this is how she normally acts, which given the reaction of her coworker seems likely, then she shouldn't be a hostess at all. The only reason why we didn't leave was because one of our party members use to live in Flagstaff and had been here multiple times. Anyone who has never been to the Toasted Owl, probably would have left and missed this experience. I had an extremely hard time deciding on how many stars to give this review, I am still giving The Toasted Owl Cafe a 5 star review because I don't think that the other staff members or any other part of my experience deserves any less... but if I were to rate only off of the first impression we got, which was the hostess. Then I would have rated it a 1 star with a "beware of this restaurant" review.

We were intrigued enough that we visited MartAnne's the very next night for dinner. That was on a Tuesday at around 6PM and it wasn't too busy the entire time we were there. House Horchata ($5.99) - This drink comes in a giant 32 oz Ball jar with tons of ice. Per the server it's made with milk and condensed milk, no rice milk at all. It's rich, thick, creamy, sweet, filled with earthy notes of vanilla and cinnamon. There's so much spice included that at some points, there's almost a gritty feeling while drinking. It's perfect for a hot day after hiking. Buckwheat Pancake ala carte ($4.99) - Buckwheat pancakes are something we've never seen before on a diner menu in the past. It seems to be pretty common around Arizona, so we had to give it a try before leaving Flagstaff. This one's pretty big, almost plate sized. It's really moist, fluffy, bouncy, and light with a slight sweetness and a certain earthy flavor. It's moist enough that it sticks to the ceramic plate it's served on. The pancake is somewhat crumbly due to the low gluten content of buckwheat, although I believe they use a mix of buckwheat and wheat flour to give some more stability. It's bluish grey in color with black specks of ground buckwheat throughout. It's dusted with powdered sugar, but it's not a ton, making the pancake not really sweet at all. The pancake comes with a small cup of their cinnamon honey butter. It's not mixed that well, leaving it mostly unhomogenized with streaks of honey and spice through the softened salted butter. Tamale ala carte ($4.99) - MartAnne's offers two types of tamales - the first a red chile beef, and the second a green corn and cheese. We went with the latter, which is a homemade tamale with a somewhat looser, coarsely ground masa shell surrounding an interior of yellow sweet corn kernels, a bouncy and somewhat spongy block of Oaxaca cheese, and a fragrant green chile. There's a slight sweetness throughout and the tamale overall is easy to eat. Chilaquiles, Xmas, Fratelli ($17.99) - This is a monster sized plate of a mishmash of ingredients. There are three things as essentially a base layer. Firstly some Mexican rice that's tender, moist, and fluffy, totally unlike the more common dry and and compact version. My guess is that they skip the initial frying step that helps keeps the starch together. It's quite fragrant and has gives a bit of heat. On top of the rice is a layer of hash browns. The potatoes are tender on the interior, griddled on one side to give a delightful crunch, although there's some acridity that develops. Another third of the plate is covered with chili beans - tender pinto beans that are well salted and seasoned. Then there's the eggs stuffed in between layers of corn tortilla chips, smothered with sauce. I went with the Christmas combination of red and green sauce, followed up by the Fratelli-style pork green chile. The green sauce is fragrant and vegetal, while the red sauce is more smoky. The pork, which is cut into chunks, on top is a bit tough and dry but there's more than enough sauce to make up for that slight demerit. Finally, there's a small mound of I believe jalapeno peppers, cut into small neon-green colored pieces. Some pieces are spicy, some are mild, all have a vegetal pepper taste. I found the food at MartAnne's to be pretty good. It definitely hits the spot after hiking all around the area for most of the day. Bathrooms - Two individual rooms, one for men, one for women. Note: MartAnne's charges a 3.5% credit card fee. This is labeled on the menu.

The salsa came in a tiny plastic fast food cup and tasted weird like oregano. Rice was tasteless and beans were right out of a can. The bill came and there's a surprise $1.75 service added charge for inflation. On top of horrible food and service. Don't be fooled by the cute decor...this place is BAD. To the owners: Better spend your extra $1.75 wisely because we will NEVER be back. We can't be the only ones that feel this way. It's sad because this place used to be epic. Not anymore! The food itself was outstanding. I ordered the chicken and biscuits and my wife got the chilaquiles. Both portions were huge. The chicken and biscuits were exactly what I was hoping for: smothered in rich country gravy with a perfectly fried flattened chicken breast that was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The buttermilk biscuit was golden, flaky, buttery, and had the perfect balance of soft interior and crisp edges. I honestly got full halfway through my plate and never even got a chance to try the wife's chilaquiles. Each dessert square was priced at about $4.50. The staff was really nice or friendly. On the positive side, parking was super easy since the bakery is located in the same plaza as Safeway.
