We found Galaxy Draperies through Costco and figured the affiliation meant we could trust them because we are avid Costco loyalists. For the most part, this was true. Setting up a design meeting was super easy and was done via text messaging. I was impressed with how streamlined everything was. Niles came out a week later on a Saturday and spent a couple hours explaining the company/brand and quality of Graber manufactured shutters. He is a professional and good salesman. We signed up that day. All was well, until we had a snag with our financing option. We chose the interest free 18 month option but ended up getting 5 yr plan at 24% interest! I was forced to pay off the entire thing at once in order to avoid such high interest. The other hiccup was being told that a single shutter box could cover our front window but then later being told it was too long and would need a spacer between two smaller ones. Two weeks later, I then get a call saying they don't make spacers and I have to buy a piece of wood at Home Depot myself. Both of these issues are why a star was removed from this review. Outside of that, it took about 6 weeks to get the shutters delivered and installed. Stella and Carol were in good communication and had an install appointment within 3 days of delivery. Paco did a great job installing everything. Overall, we are happy with how the shutters look and feel. We appreciate the privacy and also the option of flooding our house with sunlight. They look sleek and clean. A week later, we got our 10% Costco gift card. We may order more shutters for the back of the house. Let's hope the experience is a little smoother next time

We ordered our blinds from Galaxy/Graber (through Costco) several years ago, and they have been absolutely beautiful. After many years, a few of them started having issues. I assumed it was something we'd either have to repair ourselves or just live with, since it had been over five years since our purchase. To my surprise, Jehn sent out John to take a look. Several blinds across different rooms weren't functioning perfectly, and because the original color and fabric were no longer available, replacing just the malfunctioning ones would have left us with mismatched rooms. Jehn and Stella went above and beyond, working tirelessly to get entire rooms approved for replacement. And when they realized that would still leave our home with different colors in some areas, they went even further--replacing every single shade in the entire house so everything would match perfectly, just as we had originally chosen. Every blind was removed and replaced, and John--who was an absolute delight--handled the installation with such care. He also spent time teaching us how to properly maintain the blinds to avoid future issues. Jehn followed up consistently throughout the process, ensuring we were 100% satisfied and that everything went smoothly. I am completely blown away by their warranty, customer service, and dedication. Jehn, Stella, and John even texted updates along the way, keeping everything transparent and stress-free. At this point, I honestly consider them friends. I will never buy blinds from another company. The level of care, follow-through, and attention to detail is rare to find these days, and Galaxy has earned my highest recommendation. I shopped around with many companies before purchasing, and I'm so grateful I landed here.

We purchased new shades from Galaxy with the helpful assistance of Sarah who came to our home with her samples and offered great suggestions. The order was made and within a couple of weeks our order was ready for installation. We were scheduled for measurements and installation with no effort. We had our SunSetter motorized retractable awning fabric replaced by Galaxy. It had been close to 15 years since the original order. Galaxy customer service was amazing! They were able to look up the original order from 15 years ago for the fabric selection and dimensions, get the order into production and the replacement fabric installed for us in time for a large family gathering. The installers were polite, skilled and left not a scrap of debris behind. We were very pleased from the first email inquiry to the truck pulling away after installation!! Called the office to schedule and double checked that they could work with an existing drape, since many places do not. Front office staff was courteous and helpful. When the consultant arrived, he seemed more interested in trying to sell me a material rather than use the one I wanted to provide. Still, he said he should work out, but after checking with his workshop, told me he'd be unable to use the material. I'm sure Galaxy Draperies make great stuff, but my time and theirs was wasted with incorrect information. My gut tells me that they figured they could come out under the pretense of using my material and hard sell me on one of theirs. Bottom line, if you are looking to use your own material, know that whether they use it is up to the discretion of their consultants and you may want to find another place that is more accommodating of that. read more

I booked a Saturday consultation and the day before they called to cancel and made no accommodation on any other days and booked me out a month. I would think they have someone else available other one person to come out for an estimate. They had called me in advance to ask if I was a Costco Member and maybe that was a reason to cancel since the product was 20% off. I wasn't looking for a discount as much as I was looking for an available and reputable company. I ordered honeycomb window shades from Galaxy through a Costco order. Their service has been top-notch every step of the way. The salesperson who came to my home was knowledgeable and friendly. She discussed options with me even though I had a pretty good idea what I wanted. The expert measurer came out as soon as I signed the contract. Delivery of the blinds was not super quick (6 weeks?) but I was kept informed and was able to choose the exact day I wanted installation once the order was ready. Installation was quick. I'm attaching a photo to show what I was going for. I wanted top down blinds so I could see the pretty camellia trees outside. My only reservation is that the blinds were more expensive than I expected. But the price was clearly laid out before I ordered. And since I started the order through Costco I did get a Costco card for 10% of the amount I spent. Overall I would call Galaxy a super reliable company. read more

We were founded by Muriel Baker, who had a poor experience with a custom drapery company and knew she could do better. She aimed to create a company that respects their clients and gives beautiful end results. Today we're a 3rd generation family-owned and operated business, continuing her legacy.

Galaxy Draperies was founded by Muriel Baker in 1976 after she had a poor experience with a custom drapery company and knew she could provide better results with high-quality customer service. She was joined in business the following year by her son, Rick. Today though Muriel is no longer with us, Rick, his wife, and their three children run our local, family-owned and operated business. We're proud to provide truly custom, quality window treatments and awnings to Los Angeles homeowners, with customer service Muriel would be proud of.

Meet the Manager: Christine H.

Our Marketing Manager, Christine, has been with Galaxy Draperies for over 6 years, handling digital marketing, content creation, customer communication, graphic design and more. Christine's background includes more than 15 years' of extensive digital marketing and customer service experience, as well being educator and public speaker. We asked for a quote from My WIndow Solutions, got one that was quite good. We had explained the rationale for getting a replacement window (the leak). Parry sent over his crew right away to caulk around the existing one so we wouldn't get any incursion while waiting for the new one to arrive and get installed. Nice! For this job, I had also asked to have a custom window casing and deep windowsill built. We agreed that I'd buy the materials (a particular trim profile and hardwood species), prime them, and they'd do the cutting and installation. This collaboration worked perfectly.

Second, it was a green door, meaning, it was not totally cured and oozed out sap for 4 months. 6 months later, the door cracked. After several months, they agreed to a new door. When it came, it was not measured correctly so I had to wait another 6 months for the next door. so now the door is installed, I had to pay again to get it repainted. Guess what, 6 months later, that new door cracked. They will not replace the door so I have to live with a cracked door since they told me it is past warranty. their solution...pay another $1500 to install a fiberglass door as a replacement. I would not even give this company 1 star if I could.

Yes, we have AC, but we wanted to find a better environmental solution and help our electricity bill out a bit. Based on so many great reviews we only called Jose and Silvia of JS Custom Awnings. Jose answered my call right away, and based on my measurements, gave me a ballpark price over the phone, and then came promptly for our appointment 3 days later. He and Silvia were very nice and straight forward. We decided to add a second shade in the front of our house, and felt the pricing for both awnings was very reasonable. As promised, less then two weeks later the awnings were installed. As you can see from the pictures, the structures are very solid. The awnings were bolted everyone to keep secure in heavy winds and the installation was precise. They even checked for any possible loose screws on the driveway to protect our tires. Thw Sunbrella material was durable, strong and a great match for our home. Jose was very patient as we went back and forth between several colors. It has only been a day, but the glare in the house has been significantly reduced. The real test will be this summer summer. We are incredibly happy and obviously highly recommend them to all.

My enthusiastic endorsement for Galaxy Draperies comes from two perspectives. The first, as a business associate, (I provide photography of their installations) and two, as a client myself. From the perspective of a photographer, I have to say that I am always impressed with the quality of craftsmanship the team at Galaxy provides their clients. By the way, I have a pretty good frame of reference for this assessment; I provide photography for real estate agents who specialize in properties in Beverly Hills and the high-end condos of the Wilshire Corridor. Needless to say, I often find myself in homes where no expense has been spared. The work that Galaxy produces is every bit the rival of anything I have seen in this context. While photographing for Galaxy owner,Rick Baker, I often have the experience of overhearing how he relates to his clients on the phone. This is equally noteworhty. At Galaxy top drawer service is of equal importance to the quality of product they deliver. It might be worth mentioning here that since they have their own factory, they are able to produce custom work and if the need arises provide custom modifications. As a client, my wife and I are equally impressed. While our request of Galaxy was much simpler than the more elaborate, more expensive work they customarily produce, our result is every bit of equal quality and the same can be said of their service. Rick went out of his way to help us find just the right fabric that met both our decorative and functional requirements for the Roman Shades that were installed in our living room. Though simple in design they put the perfect finishing touch on the room. By the way, the other day I had reason to go behind one of the shades and I must say, the workmanship from the back is every bit the equal of what one usually sees from the front. About 6 months ago I started looking to replace the drapes in my Living room dining room den and master bedroom. I called several companies that offered in home consultations. It has been many years since I originally bought drapes and I needed the help of a professional designer. I had 12 different companies come to my home. I was dissatisfied with many of the companies that came out. I narrowed my decision to 4 different companies. One of those companies was Galaxy Draperies. I searched the internet to find them. I am always skeptical about companies that I find on the internet but I'm glad I called them. One of their designers, Rick Baker, came out and the one thing that I noticed that was different from the rest was, he listened to me searching for what I was looking for. I was actually searching for a casement type fabric that is hard to find these days. Rick had a larger assortment of these kinds of fabrics for me to choose from. He showed great deal of patience and allowed me to make up my mind without any pressure. He ordered me a sample of the fabric that I was considering. I'm not one to make quick decisions and this gave me the opportunity to take the time I needed. Once I decided to go ahead with Galaxy, Rick came back to my house with a cutting for approval of the bolt of fabric what we would actually be getting. Sometimes dye lots vary and Rick wanted to make sure it matched the sample that I originally got from him. Three weeks later my drapes showed up and I couldn't be happier. It's exactly what I had hoped for. On top of everything else the price they gave me was the best of all the companies that came out. We had the pleasure of having Matt Baker who is the Sales Manager of this company come out to assist us. From the moment he walked in we knew we had found the right person for the job. He was very knowledgable, informative, and clarified all questions we had. We really enjoyed the fact that Matt took so much pride in his company and the quality of work they produce. It felt as if Matt was a friend coming over to help us transfer our thoughts and ideas into a beautiful window treatment solution. I have to admit we were reluctant at first because of our last window treatment experience. We received a sub-par quality product that became a major eye sore and did not last us very long. Matt insured us that all of his products were of the highest quality, and boy was he right. The workmanship and attentiveness provided by his staff made this process that much more enjoyable. Galaxy has an outstanding showroom that we were able to visit before Matt came out to gather ideas. We had five woven Roman shades and two stained arch shutters installed. The installers were so meticulous while they were working. They Really took pride in what they were doing. It felt as if they were performing a job in their own home. Matt came back to inspect everything after the job was installed. This Company really cares about their customers and it showed throughout this entire process. Moving to the Valley was a big change from West Hollywood. The houses are older and the temperature is much hotter. I realized very quickly that I had to block the sun from heating our new home and I searched out a company that could provide me with reasonably priced shades for the kitchen, blinds for my sons room, curtains for the living room and I wasn't sure what to do about the greenhouse effect in my bedroom due to a large exposed patio door. After meeting with some very strange vendors I found Galaxy Blinds by searching the internet. What a relief it was when Cindy came to my home to meet with me and check out what needed to be done. She listened carefully to my thoughts and paid close attention to my budget. With her help I was steered toward some lovely options at various price points. I was able to make educated decisions and have the samples of fabric left at my home to get a good sense of what would look best but mostly I took her suggestions and couldn't be happier. The fabric blinds in the kitchen let in light without the heat, the wood blinds are top notch but my favorite are the UVB Blocking Sliding Panels she suggested for my bedroom. They are bright and cheerful but block 90 percent of the UVB rays that would heat up my room. What a score! Thank you so much Cindy for your great suggestions and for being so helpful. I am in the midst of remodeling my house. My contractor introduced me to Rick Baker, to help us with our window treatment ideas. I'm not a fluffy, drapery kind of a guy, so Rick showed me hundreds of possibilities in wood blinds. I had a floor sample of the hardwoods I would be installing in my house and he matched my plantation shutters perfectly to the wood stain. The wood blinds, in the kitchen, he also perfectly matched to my new cabinetry. We have a varied color palate in our home and Rick was able to tie all of our rooms together with his knowledge and expertise. We just had the window treatments installed yesterday and the installers are courteous and professional. They answered all my questions and concerns I had about the installation process. They had all 24 window treatments and vertical sliders in my home installed in 6 hours! We couldn't be happier with the final results:) Rick went above and beyond in accommodating our fluctuating time line for installation. Of the 5 subcontractors I have dealt with during our remodel, Rick is the ONLY one we haven't had problems with. We cannot say enough of Matt and Art as they are very professional and courteous in taking care of our decision to purchase and install wood shutters. Matt is punctual in meeting with you and listens to what you need and does not push you into buying beyond your budget. Matt also takes the time to answers your questions and takes the time to walk you thru the payment process because we were referred by Costco. We initially placed a small order to see the quality of the product compared to the big box stores and the professionalism that Art showed installing is excellent. For example, Art is one of the few contractors that actually will put on shoe covers when he comes into your house and delicately installs the shutters without rushing. After the wood shutters were initially installed by Art, the windows in our rooms were different in a very positive way such that we decided to have Matt come out again and work on our other windows. We also asked Matt if Art could be the installer to take care of our 2nd order which he said of course. I had the pleasure of working with Galaxy and their team for my plantation shutters for my newly purchased house. I originally requested information for SunSetter retractable awnings, which in the end was not possible due to my small yard. Cynthia was assigned to me as the interior designer. She was awesome and went over a few options for my windows inside instead of retractable awnings outside. I had ugly curtains and old-fashioned blinds. I got a very great deal on 12 windows plus no interest for 18 months and my home looks much better with a simple upgrade. Plus it keeps things much cooler since a portion of my house faces west. Cynthia has been on top of everything from start to finish and not to mention an animal lover. She even brought my new puppy a stuffed squeaky monkey to have as a gift after the work was completed. I will be doing more upgrades to my house as time goes on and I hope I can give Galaxy more business as they are a local business and American made, which I really like. read more

Being new to CA I was unsure of what I should purchase. Cynthia happily came back out for a second visit to go over my choices and help me make a final decision. She told me the blinds would take 4-6 weeks. She knew I had family coming in from NH around the 6 week date so she expedited my order, for no extra charge, and I had my blinds in and installed within 3 weeks of the purchase date. I cannot say enough about the level of customer service from Cynthia. She sent a thank you card after my purchase and also showed up on the install date with a little thank you gift. I had looked at many shades from different companies and stores but it wasn't until I contacted (through Costco) Galaxy Draperies, Shades & Blinds that I found the style, design and color I could use for 3 windows and 2 wood & glass doors in my living room. I was about to give up when Matt Baker literally came to my rescue and showed me what could work and how it would work. Now that they are up, thanks to Jose who did an outstanding job of putting them up, I am thrilled. They are perfect, give me privacy and help to shield my living room from the bright sun in the morning. The pull down shades are like magic, a little tug and they roll up by themselves and the door shades which are on a chain roller are smooth and make no noise. I was pleasantly surprised with the service I received from Galaxy Draperies that I bought through Costco. From the moment I ordered my shutters everything went smoothly. Everyone was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. One of the best perks was that before the order was sent off the installer come out and re-measured making sure their measurements matched the salesperson. My shutters would not have fit if the installer ( Miguel) did not make the corrections plus he took his time explaining the different shutter styles and and their function. I highly recommend Galaxy Draperies!!! Hi,my name is Sandra and this is my experience.First, I highly recommend Galaxy Draperies!!! I thought I would save money and did not call Matt at Galaxy on a couple of roller shades instead I tried to save money and purchased the shades from Home depot. Well no money was saved. In less than two month's the shades from Home Depot were unusable. One came off the roller completely due to heat and poor adhesive on the shade. The other shade simply would no longer roll up. My husband tried his best to fix the Home Depot shades to no avail. That said we are back for the second time to Galaxy. What I thought was expensive really is not due to excellent quality materials and great customer service. Go with a custom quality shade that will last. Galaxy is great! read more

When my husband and I moved into our home we needed all of the windows done with some sort of treatment. Rick came to our home and made professional suggestions on the subject. My personal dream was to have plantation sutters. I have to say Rick made my dreams come true! I love my sutters. I spent close to 9,000 dollars and would do it again in a heart beat. I bought blinds OVER 15 years ago and the top-down/bottom-up shades were worn to the point that I could no longer move them up/down. I was ready to buy a replacement shade and they offered to pursue the possibility of repair even though they were way beyond being covered by warranty. As it turns out, the shades were repairable at a nominal cost. I've had work done by this company in 2 homes, several times over several years and have always been happy with the results. Stuff happens, but it's more about how the business corrects a problem. I did have a minor problem with my most recent installation. The office quickly and efficiently arranged a follow-up appointment and Rick, the owner, personally came to my house. The problem was promptly and pleasantly corrected. Their work is always professional and their design advice is always spot on. Their draperies are a prominent display in my home. A friend recommended Galaxy Draperies. Liz came to my home, made suggestions with samples and helped me make the best decision for my home. She was very knowledgeable and patient. She gave me a four week timeline and said that the installer would contact me. Within the week, Alfredo reached out and came over to my home to finalize the measurements. four weeks from my original appointment Alfredo and Elvis return to my home to install my new shades. Approx. 8 years ago, we purchased some electric shades from Galaxy and they have been great. As anything mechanical, after these 8 years, we've begun to have a few mechanical issues which are difficult to remedy with the ever changing technology and parts not being produced any longer. I must say that Rick, the owner and his team have been on top of my requests constantly even though our purchase was made so long ago and has really stood behind his product.
