Service was great. Food was horrible. 1/2 lb burger was small. Bacon was so overcooked it was powder. I won't be back

I went to the Gallery for dinner, and the one guest ordered liver and onions, and I ordered the stir-fried chicken. I did not eat the stir-fried chicken completely because it had a liver and onion taste. Somehow the flavors got mixed together. I have been there with my family many times and it was good. I went to take the food that was not eaten back and told them that it tasted like the liver and onions. The insulting thing is that the manager on duty said that they did not sell liver and onions. I told them that it tasted like that and then the server came over and remembered me and said that I told her that I loved the food and that again was not accurate. I do not understand them not even felling as though they should apologize but became very combative about it like I was trying to get a steak dinner out of it. I said here is the meal and over half was there. I know that it had liver mixed in because I am allergic to liver and spent most of the night puking it up. I was so very disappointed that I looked at them and just left if it is that important for them to be correct than to help a customer it is a shame. I have spent with my family hundreds of dollars there but now that I see that they could care less about customer service and more about being correct I definitely will not return. I can only give a one star but if I could go lower because of the treatment I would. read more

Let me start by saying that the service was excellent. Our waitress Kathy was friendly, efficient and accommodating. Everyone in my group (6), enjoyed their food selections, from chicken stir fry, and homemade corn beef hash to fish and chips. At 1:00 the restaurant was packed, so we were seated comfortably outside of the restaurant where we were very comfortable. I will definitely add this place to my list of favorites. read more

This is a 2.5 star review. Opened in 1973 and probably not remodeled since ... but everything is maintained in very good shape and the venue is clean. Ingredients were fresh, of good quality and the portions were generous. Problems with my carry-out order: - Club sandwich on toasted wheat - Fries - Cobb salad, no blue cheese, ranch dressing on the side Kitchen prepared a chicken salad sandwich, not toasted. Replaced with the requested club, but the wheat bread was barely toasted. Cobb salad delivered with blue cheese dressing, on the side, no ranch dressing. Server was knowledgeable and attentive without be obsequious. Will I return? Perhaps, but Steve's Deli is very nearby. read more

Nice people. Very nice. But my $15 omelette wasn't worth it. Hash browns were under cooked and had no seasoning. Very greasy. So much so it left a film in my mouth. That says cheap fake margarine cooking oil. Like what a Waffle House would use. Big yellow jug of stay close to a toilet oil. I don't mind paying for my food I just want to get what I pay for. I expected more from this neighborhood place. They make a mean meatloaf though. It's the most expensive meatloaf I ever had. It wasn't mom good but it was darn good. So worth it. Soups are pretty good too. The liver and onions chewed me instead of me chewing it. Wore me out. I saw southern fried chicken on special for $21.00. I'm sorry but I had to laugh. I would question how southern it is and you could buy three whole chickens for that and feed eight people. Already prepared or not that's crazy. read more

We like this place. It's kind of old fashioned...but that's part of the attraction. To me...the food is always great. The service is excellent too. The prices are a little high...but we don't mind paying a little more because we like the food AND the service. We usually go for breakfast...but we do go for dinner from time to time. read more

I was looking for a spot online for lunch for my mom, grandma and I. We all had different hankerings so this place was perfect as it checked all the boxes. The photos online won me over! Thank you, David, for your great service. You are SO sweet and friendly. The food was mostly delicious. The Reuben, coleslaw, chicken noodle soup, and the incredible Caesar with salmon (very ample serving of salmon OMG). Even the pickles were super tasty. For 56$ before tip I thought it was on par with other restaurants in the area. Fries and grilled cheese were just okay, the grilled cheese was a bit burned- if I were to get it again I'd get the Suzy Q grilled cheese! but David was right - the coleslaw is the best!!! The restaurant itself was vintage and old fashioned vibes which I liked. Not too big, not too small, plus the menu has something for everyone. I can tell this place has its regulars, and while it was my first time, I don't think it will be my last. read more

1. They charge $4.20 for jello 2. They have weird unhygienic containers for ketchup and mustard (pic attached) 3. They charge $2 extra for hashbrowns/pancakes with your breakfast 4. Kids meals are roughly $7-9 5. Breakfast is about $9-11 per plate lol the jello price really irritated me for some reason. Waitress was really nice but we got up and left. Nothing looked good and for that price for breakfast I'd rather dine at commonwealth/flytrap/toast! This place is a total pass in my book! read more

Ok, the place is a little dated, as far as decor and maybe a little dark, but you know what, in the land of Covid, especially, there is something very comforting about the Gallery. It's the same feeling you got when you would go to visit grandmas house, when the first thing out of her mouth, before even, "Hello", was, "what can I get you to eat, honey? Sit down, I have apple pie for you." The food is always great, and generous portions and the service is always friendly. I can't not give the Gallery anything but 5 stars. I always visit this mall and have been perplexed as Steve's Deli remains the dominant restaurant in this plaza.. Today I tried it. Not impressed with the menu and the food was like The Clock restaurant of the 1970s. I ordered the Turkey Hash - asked for the hash browns well done and a side of spinach. The entire dish was terrible. While visiting the mall be sure to bypass it and just visit Steve's. The only saving grace was that the staff was great. read more

First time here. Tucked away inside a hallway, so maybe a little hard to find, but it is popular with the older crowd. Classic old style diner, friendly staff, tons of Greek themed paraphernalia on the wall (e.g. dinner plates with old world designs, portraits, etc.). While we seated ourselves, took a while to get actual menus. Tried the mothers day special - 1/2 broiled chicken, parts of it was crispy and nice, however parts were dry. This had a side choice of hash browns/fries or baked potato. The vegetable accompaniment were beans cooked in a spicy red sauce. for the starter - one had a choice of salad or soup - I opted for the chili - was not bad at all. The specials were priced alright under $20 - a tad over, but they threw in dessert (choice of strawberry jello, chocolate, rice pudding). It was alright. Have not tried their breakfast - might do that if I am in the vicinity next time. read more

My wife and kids have been going to the Gallery Restaurant since I can remember and our son is 45 and daughter 37. I really cannot remember ever having something that was not good there. We have always had a a great meal, great service and smiley faces. We have been living at our vacation home for several years and now back in town for awhile-we have been there several times already. Moving to the neighborhood, I was in search for a new unique breakfast place. I was hoping for a place that had delicious, unique, and creative breakfast, but it fell short. It's a standard deli with all the usual typical items. They do have some items that I was surprised. My grandmother use to make salami and eggs all the time, so it was a staple in our household. I was excited to see it here, but it really wasn't the same. The cuts of the salami were small and a stronger flavor salami should have been used. Its flavor was masked too much by the eggs, therefore, only giving it texture. It's not one of the typical chain restaurants, so its nice to support local businesses, but their food needs to be elevated just a bit. The decor, oh, it needs some help. The place definitely would not win any awards other than the "Haven't Redecorated in 20 Years" Award. It's that 20 year-old diner feel. read more

Inconspicuously placed behind Steve's Deli near the back entrance of the mall, The Gallery has been a frequently visited dine in and carry out spot at least 10 years of my life. But I know what you care about is what it is today, and I am here to tell you that I definitely recommend it for a quick lunch with a friend or coworker or a simple but good breakfast. The service is always good for me. I get coffee refills long after I have paid and a friendly face every time I come in. Io usually come here for breakfast and haven't had much lunch items - not even at lunch time - but I have enjoyed their tuna melt! For breakfast stick to one order most of the time: scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, burnt bacon, an english muffin and cream cheese. Just in case you are wondering I take that english muffin and line both sides with cream cheese. Then I put a layer of bacon on it and cover that (on each side) with cheesy eggs. I then proceed to have a fabulous open face egg sandwich.. Every time. That's the thing about the Gallery. It's a great jewish diner, but it is a diner type place. The crowd is mixed but it is not hip or anything. The environment is clean but old fashioned. It's consistent though. I can always count on it and the food never changes. And that's what I also think it's great that you can get mozzarella on your omelets!! read more

This time I was treated very rudely by the man who seated us when I questioned why I was charged for carrots I substituted for toast with my omelet. Located on the inside of a small shopping mall, this place is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is open, roomy, and clean. The decor hints at being a vintage diner, but the menu selections are quite extensive and are good all day(breakfast, lunch and dinner). Food is served in large portions and is tasty. Not sure why there's the "II" behind it. This place has been around for a long time. The place probably hasn't changed much since the '80s...that includes the decor, the menu, and the customers. The highlight of the place is their breakfast. The corned beef hash is excellent. It's really pieces of corned beef that's mixed in with the standard shredded hash browns. It's a bit more classy than your typical coney island in Detroit area for breakfast. I've never been there for lunch, so I'll reserve comment on their sandwiches. For dinner, their chicken noodle soup is great. Seems homemade to me. It has the thin noodles and has great broth. Stay away from their steaks. read more

My Kids love this breakfast place. It is an old school family restaurant with the big booths and the brown mugs. The reason my girls 11 and 10 love it - The hot chocolate. It is super rich and chocolatey and they put whipped cream on it as an added bonus. My oldest always gets the chocolate chip pancakes and my 10 year old gets an egg and toast. I seem to be frequenting restaurants lately for meetings with people that are not easy to find. The Gallery Restaurant II is located in a strip mall inside a strip mall. It's tucked down the alleyway right by Steve's Deli. #1. I loved that there was an 80 year old guy ordering fish and chips at 9am. #2. The service was friendly and extremely attentive. #3. Our orders were freshly made and exactly correct, although she didn't write them down. We were a little high maintenance at our table, too. (Not me) #4. Been coming here for years and years. Food is good but they are overpriced. Last year they served me tuna in a toasted pita pocket which I been getting here for years, it had a gob of dirt in the lettuce and I mean literally a gob of mud. I thought the sandwich tasted funny.. I jd already eating half the sandwich. I showed the server and asked for it to be taken off my bill. I got sick for a straight week after that no joke, had to go on antibiotics to clear up my stomach issue.. I started coming here recently again after giving it a break for a year. I met an associate there for breakfast a couple of weeks ago. IT wasn't bad. Service was attentive. The atmosphere was great for having a working breakfast and the food was very good. Mind you we didn't order pheasant under glass at breakfast. We just had typical breakfast fare. I had a breakfast special that included hotcakes and sausage and my associate had a lox and bagel plate. But they were both good and as I said, it was much better than trying to get work done at Burger King or Starbucks which are both close by. One suggestion is to ask for the blue or yellow artificial sweetener if you use that and prefer it over the pink stuff. They only had the pink junk out on the tables and I personally hate that stuff. So I asked for the yellow one and they immediately found some for me. I don't know why restaurants serve quality food and cheap-out on the sweetener, but they do. I have been there for lunch too and it was fine. I have never been there for dinner, but I have noticed that they advertise dinner specials. read more

I've been coming here for years for breakfast and lunch. It's overpriced, but their breakfast is decent. My husband and I end up spending $42 for breakfast each time (including tip). We order a cheese omelette, with hash browns and toast. And then a side of silver dollar pancakes to split. It's definitely an older crowd, but a good family restaurant. We love their tuna pockets with cheese, lettuce and tomato, and that is typically what we order. Last year we ordered the tuna pockets, and my husband bit into it, and as he was biting into it he noticed something slimy. He opened it up, it was all mud! All over the lettuce. We told the waitress, and she said they probably forgot to wash it. Safe to say, we haven't ordered the tuna pockets since then. They took it off the bill of course, but we both lost our appetite. I understand mistakes happen, but when it's this bad, it makes you think what else aren't they washing? The last few visits haven't been great. The cooks are having a tough time cooking omelettes. I asked for chicken in my omelet, and instead of putting it in the omelet, they place it on top. How does that make sense? I guess you can say it's a hit or miss. read more

Okay, first, have to admit that I have never liked The Gallery, even when I lived in Michigan. Not sure why ... the place always bugged me and felt dirty (it's not, it's just a personal feeling), and I never really liked it even though it is a very hot breakfast place in the city. Anyway, so I'm in Michigan for a wedding. I meet up with my Aunt and Uncle. They say where do you want to go ... and being in SF, I don't get deli much ... so I said Stage. No go, so we go to the Gallery. I order scrambled eggs and salami. When I order scrambled eggs and salami, I expect a good sized portion of eggs (read my review of the Original Pancake House on how eggs should be). The eggs they use here ... must not be XLarge or bigger. Maybe medium? Maybe large? Definitely not XLarge or bigger. The eggs were like a usual one and a half eggs, and really not enough for breakfast. The place is fine. When I go back to Michigan, I can skip ever going here again, but for locals that live there, I know it has a good reputation. read more

This is a GREAT place to go before you catch a flick at Maple Art. FAST, good (especially their reuben & fries & soup). Yeah, it's more along the lines of a hole in the wall, but it's well worth the money. The sandwiches aren't as big as the deli where they're HUGE, but they are filling, tasty, & the staff are nice. read more
