[[HIGHLIGHT]]From the outside, the place looks like it gave up on glamour some time ago. No chrome spaceship, no neon promises. Just a building that knows what it is.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, however, it's 100% Jersey diner. A board announcing pie and pudding as if they were breaking news. Booths to the left. Counter seating for those who wish to face their breakfast directly. A dining room to the right for people who prefer a little distance from their eggs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My wife ordered eggs over easy with corned beef hash. I chose cream chipped beef over toast, a dish that has survived longer than many empires for reasons that become clear when you eat it. Both came with home fries and coffee. Everything tasted exactly as it should. The eggs behaved. The hash was honest. The chipped beef was comforting in the way only something slightly excessive can be. The coffee kept coming. The service was attentive and friendly without hovering like guilty conscience. We paid thirty five dollars with tip, which in this era feels almost like a mathematical error in our favor. Nothing here will astonish you. But it will feed you well, send you back out into the world a little steadier, and sometimes that is the highest calling a diner can have. Four stars feel right. I have to go with five stars here for sure! We were headed home from Ventnor, quite hungry and passed by GCS. It caught our eyes because we love us some diners! I was curious about their homemade chicken salad. I ordered a Caesar salad with a scoop of chicken salad. They put it on the side ... I dumped it onto my salad. O M G absolutely delicious chicken salad and Caesar! Bonus points for sans celery! Really good salad - even the damned croutons! Joey's omelette was like none we've seen before - it was so cute - reminded me of an egg sleeping bag, lol! Super food, plus in season fresh tomatoes. Our server, Michele P., was very nice and we had a cute convo with her when she brought us the card reader to pay. I liked that we paid right at the table - convenient! At last, I have found it!!! A dinner with food that tastes like the 1970s when food tasted great! Hamburger with a seeded bun (no crappy brioche bun) and the taste of charbroil! Literally, I tasted Rustler Steakhouse biting into it! A chocolate milkshake made with real Breyers ice cream! And finally...STEAK FRIES!!!!!!! I was in the area on business and stop here before going in the city. Service to get waited on was extremely slow. When the server.finally realized we were in her section she was extremely apologetic. The menu was large enough and more of things I liked to choose from.Are order came out in good time and with the exception of some it being to salty it had good flavor. Portions on some of the dishes were rather large and we did need a take out box to leave with. Back to are sever. She forgot to bring out some sides and had to be reminded to bring out Togo containers. Maybe she was having an off night. She was very pleasant otherwise. I do recommend this place. WOW!!!! UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. I ordered the Chicken francaise and it was a very large portion as was the salad that accompanied the meal. Pulling up around 10:30, the old standby was regrettably understaffed with an hour long wait. The hostess recommended their sister diner in Galloway. This turned out to be exactly the experience we were after. A breakfast centric menu (pancakes, eggs, hash) and friendly waitstaff keep customers coming in. Though the creamed chipped beef on toast is always tempting, I went with a western omelette with added cheddar, home fries, and rye toast. Love going to this place, my family and I have been going here for years. We've been away most of the year and just returned and as always first stop with the family is Galloway casual dining. He just let us sit there for approximately 4-5 minutes while we waited for him to finish what he was doing . Now i understand he was doing something, but he could have simply said just one second please. Or maybe one of the two people that walked out of the kitchen could have sat us like they use to do. Or maybe the manager "who we found out was the new owner" sitting behind the bar that was staring at us could have said something. Instead we just sat there being stared at. Server was polite and had a great attitude but the food missed the target. Definitely not home made food anymore . My pot roast dinner was nothing more than deli roast beef ...... so was the pastrami , turkey and corned beef. Somebody needs to tell new ownership there's no shortcuts and diners. This is the go to dining right now so I thought I should update my review. I gave them the 5th star after all the times we've eaten here. Food and service is top notch. I get the Galloway omelette most times but the meatloaf is real good too. My son like the patty melt and my wife the gyro and paninis. Went here recently for lunch. I'm not a huge fan of diners but was close by and decided to try it. I ordered a monte cristo sandwich with sweet potato fries. My friend ordered a gyro salad. We also ordered the potato skins as an appetizer. The potato skins were whole potatoes with burnt bacon and tasteless cheese on top. None of the potato was scooped out and it was way too much potato. The monte cristo was just okay. My friend didn't like the gyro salad and said the meat tasted frozen. Our server was very nice as was the hostess who greeted us but the food is terrible. came in for dinner time, got an appetizer and drinks and those were good. however, i ordered a caesar salad and it tasted off to me, so i told the server about it, who further got their manager. the manager was extremely dismissive and used a fake persona to cover up his rudeness. i told him it tasted off, but everything else was great. these are his next few sentences: "I can pack it up for you" i said no because I wouldn't eat it another day. he says "well it can be good to you tomorrow." and after declining again, he says "well there's nothing else I can do for you. there's been many people ordering the caesar salad today and you're the only one to have not liked it." dismissing my own feelings in a rude tone. did not offer if I wanted a different salad, different meal, or to take it off the check. servers are nice, managers not so much. need new management. read more

Wanted to stop for breakfast and found this diner. Fast efficient staff, very nice inside. Menu is full of classic diner favorites. Food came out quickly and was good. Pancakes were a little floury tasting. Booths were tight. The seats are so close to the table so if you are larger, you should ask for a table. read more

My daughter and I stopped in here at lunchtime recently after a field hockey tournament. I wasn't familiar with the area, but a Jersey Diner will rarely let you down. We were seated immediately at a table and I knew my daughter was starving when she ordered Chocolate milk, a chocolate milkshake and water for her drink (I just had unsweetened iced tea). For our entrees my daughter ordered grilled cheese, fries, and two scrambled eggs. I ordered French onion soup (which was quite good) and a grilled ham and Swiss on rye. So, first things first, my sandwich didn't come on rye, but I was hungry so I didn't send it back. It tasted great, but I prefer it on rye. Both of us had fries and they were underdone for my taste...I should have specified well done. Finally, the side of Cole slaw was just ok-could have been a little more flavorful. Dissapointed... So we wanted to give this place a try, since it's local. When we arrived, it was desolate of patrons inside, (10:30am Friday) This was the first sign, it may not be good. We give it a try anyway. I ordered the French Toast bananas foster. I was completely disappointed on its arrival! The bananas were not cooked, just raw slices on top of French toast, that seemed to have a sugar syrup substance just poured on it. These were not true bananas foster. They were frauds! Well, we tried this place again after we said we would not after our disastrous take out meal months ago. Although our waitress was nice and did a good job, the food was awful to marginal at best. They remodeled to be more modern; place was lovely and clean. Also was freezing. First, very disappointed they removed the Golden Mini Meals for seniors which were full course mini meals for $12.19. And no early bird specials either. So brother ordered the fried seafood combination dinner. All the food was very dark and clearly was fried in stale oil. Husband ordered a club sandwich. How can you mess that up? The toast was burned; the bacon was old and dry and crumbled out of the sandwich. The tomato was not ripe. They forgot the Mayo. But the fries were good. I ordered a western omelet with cheese. Overdone and dry. And rye toast also burned. Mom had chicken franchise which was chicken over rice for $17. It was good but no vegetable. And no dinner rolls or bread. Overall I wasted $80 but still tipped the waitress $20 because it wasn't her fault. So now we are really not ever going back. For lunch the price was right I ordered soup and salad, and paid the upcharge for french onion which is very worth it. The salad was a typical salad with lettuce tomatoes cucumbers and red onion, decent portion. My lunch came to 8.98. My husband ordered hot wings, 11 for 9.49, decent sized, lightly breaded, they gave enough hot sauce and plenty of bleu cheese. Very tasty. When you usually by only 10 wings, some places can charge a dollar per wing, but the more you buy the more you usually get with a discount. No complaints will be back again. Recently on travel for work, I found myself traveling up and down the White Horse Pike looking for something to eat. Not really being the diner-type, I had passed this place a few times going back and forth from where I was working and decided to stop and give it a try. The first thing that comes to mind when walking in is "Hello 1980s". The decor is definitely dated and mauve abounds EVERYWHERE. Also, there were more cars in the parking lot than there were customers in the restaurant, so I'm guessing the extra cars were employee cars. Taking a look at the menu, it seemed that it was almost identical to the Silver Coin restaurant that I'll be writing a review for later. My coworker wanted to get the chicken wings, but the waitress didn't know whether they were breaded or not and didn't really seem like she was going to try to find out, so he ended up getting something else. I was actually having a difficult time finding something that I wanted to eat despite the HUGE menu but ended up going with the grilled cheese and fries. The grilled cheese made with rye bread was really good, had a lot of flavor, but I wasn't a fan of the fries because they were kind of bland. The food was good, the price was reasonable (all told, I paid like $6), but the service could have been better. The waitress wasn't rude or anything, but she definitely had that New Jersey way about her. I mean she could have at least gone to find out whether the wings were breaded or not, you know? Surprised by the lower rating here as it wasn't a bad diner. My party and I went around lunch time and it wasn't crowded at all. Out of all of the diners I've been too, this is one of the biggest. Atmosphere: It's a stereotypical NJ diner. The outside is chrome and the inside has multiple booths, tables, and a full sized bar. It's nice and open so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of anyone. Coffee: The coffee was hot and brewed fresh. The waitress also refilled out beverages often. Service: It was the hosts first day and she did a great job. She was friendly, and I never would have guessed. The waitress was friendly and gave us several recommendations. However, the food was much slower to come than anticipated. Food: The Galloway diner has several pages including a specials page. I decided to order the Greek salad with salmon which was a great size and the presentation was excellent. I will say it's one of the largest pieces of salad salmon I've received. Definitely one of the better diner salads I've had. I decided to take a black and white cookie to go and it was great. The cookie was soft with plenty of frosting. For my salad with salmon, coffee, and cookie, it was about $22 which was a bit more expensive than anticipated but overall not a bad meal. I would stop back. I'm jonesin' for Crackerbarrel and my buddy is like, New Jersey has some serious diners! Lets get our diner on at Galloway Diner, trust me. Yeah... Galloway diner is a typical East Coast Diner. Little mints at the cashier station. Big cakes under glass. This is a typical looking diner up and down the northeast coast. We have them and take them for granted. Kinda like moms kitchen except you get a bill. We sit down and I see corned beef hash on the menu. I ask, is it from a can? (Talks lower) yes... I'll pass. I see scrapple and eggs? Heck yes! Two eggs over easy with rye toast. Comes with sucky hash browns. No, the waitress didn't say that but that's what I was served. But the scrapple? Mmmm.. Its shaped like a hash brown. Its a thing of pork beauty! Scrapple is considered an ethnic food of the Pennsylvania Dutch but I call it, a little hunk of porky love.
