After over three months of operation, cooling and now heating, I give Galmiche's a good five stars. We'd had Galmiche's give us a bid several years ago and were impressed then, however we didn't have the funds and decided to wait and see. Well, this summer as we experienced our hottest heat wave, the nearly 40 year old system finally died. Galmiche's came back out, gave us a new bid and had a new system installed within four weeks of our old system dying. Over a month later the AC wasn't working again. Galmiche's came out, found a problem and fixed it, on warranty. A couple days later the AC stopped working again. The same technician came out, did a deeper dive and determined that a part hadn't been replaced that should have been as part of the complete install. The company warrantied the repair again, accepting responsibility. All in all, I've been very pleased with Galmiche's. Their price, their courteousness, their promptness, and their integrity. I recommend them, and will definitely consider them when our second system (we have a two system house) finally kicks it. read more

They don't waste your time with hours of sales rhetoric. The office staff does a great job with follow up and I don't have one complaint. When my ancient ac/heating system finally died at the ripe old age of 37 years, I contacted 3 different companies for bids on a new system. Galmiche blew the other two out of the water. Their price for essentially the same system was about 35% less. The other two companies were charging me a hefty price for a new concrete slab, that was totally unnecessary. Everyone at Galmiche was professional, courteous and prompt. Laura, in the office was exceptionally nice, estimator Tom gave an honest and fair bid. Install was completed totally to my satisfaction by Ron & Jack. Ron made sure I was comfortable with the new fangled thermostat and gave me information to register for warranty and rebate. I am a retired property manager, so when I have any significant work done on my home I always perform my due diligence. I read reviews like the one I'm writing now, and I get multiple bids. About 3 years ago I hired Galmiche & Sons to install a new heater and air conditioner. I was very happy with their work, as well as the communication between their staff and myself. I've had no problems whatsoever with the HVAC system, so naturally when we decided to add a humidifier I went back to them to do the work. I was very impressed with "Jeremy," the installer. He was well organized, and didn't mind me watching and asking questions as he did the installation. When he finished he took time to review with me how to operate the humidifier, as well as the procedure for changing the filter annually. I took notes so in a year I would have them to refer to when it came time to do the filter replacement. He also told me what kind of filter I would need and where I could purchase it. When he finished he did a great job of cleaning up, and asked me if I had any additional questions. I wish all the contractors I hire were as competent, thorough, and conscientious as Jeremy. I will continue to use Galmiche and Sons for all of my future HVAC needs. read more

First, I have not personally used Galmiche & Sons; my mom did. She called me with concerns over her invoices and felt uncomfortable with calling the company herself, so I did on her behalf. I first spoke with Michael, who I believe is the manager. He listened to my concerns and had some of his own and promised to make things right. I was directed to speak with Kelly (unknown title). Kelly was very gracious with addressing my concerns and even went one better. Based on my limited interaction with this company, I would highly recommend using them to anyone in the St. Louis area. My air compressor fan went out during the 4th of July weekend. I called Galmiche and sons for emergency service on Saturday 7/2/22. Galmiche returned my call later in the day and asked if I wanted emergency service. I said Yes. They said that I would receive a call on 7/3/22. Today is 7/6/22. No call was received. So, I reached out to a competitor and they replaced the fan in less than 30 mins. I am disappointed in the Galmiche's follow-up. I had great experiences with them in the past. I guess my expectations were too high. Next time I won't wait. I will reach out to competitors. read more

I called yesterday with some furnace issues, and was able to get an appointment first thing this morning. Kelly on the phone was awesome about finding a time as early as possible that worked with my schedule. Kevin arrived on time this morning, heard the noise my furnace was making, and immediately diagnosed the problem. He fixed it almost as fast as he recognized it. His truck pulled into my driveway 30 minutes ago and my furnace is already blowing hot air. Not only did he get me up and running almost immediately, he was extremely personable as well. He gave me some great advice about making my home more efficient, and didn't pressure me to buy things I don't need. The service was $108 and billed as a cleaning/ inspection. I already forgot exactly what he said he did, but I think he had to disconnect parts, test and drain them. It's something I wouldn't have tried myself (and you might have needed things like an ohm meter which I don't have), so the price seems fair. Honestly I was afraid it would be way more. I will absolutely call Galmiche and Sons first from now on. read more

Galmiche & Sons recently replaced our furnace and A/C. I was very pleased and satisfied and would recommend them without reservation. They were 1 of 4 bids I requested. I received a reply immediately, Jim Galmiche showed up when he said he would and promptly mailed me his bid within 24 hours. It was by far the best bid - by a considerable amount and with the same or greater level of equipment than all the other bids. We scheduled a date, and the installers (Steve and Jaz) showed up on time, confirmed the order, explained what they would do, worked until the job was completed, tested both systems and cleaned up and hauled away all the old equipment. Assuming everything works when temperatures reach 0 and 100 as they did when tested, we will be most grateful! Thank you Galmiche and Sons. read more

We used Galmiche & Sons to replace our A/C unit, furnace and A-coil. Joe, the salesman was very informative and helpful when we were trying to decide on the new system. We chose Galmiche & Sons, not only for a great price but that they employ qualified Union employees. Their total installation price put the other bids to shame - and they pay their employees union scale. Mark, the installer was also great. They arrived on time 7:00 a.m. and completed the job by 3:00 p.m. the same day. Wow! I would recommend anyone to Galmiche & Sons especially in our neighborhood in Turtle Creek as all of our systems are approximately 15 - 20 years old. read more

Called them about our attic unit leaking and Jim came out and was just great and fixed the issue and we were so pleased. We needed another unit replaced for the first floor and their quotes were very reasonable. We had it installed and had to call the next day. When we turned the air on, the first floor sounded like a jet engine. There was no cold air coming out either. The installers never tested it before leaving (early for the day). We called and they sent out a great guy who told me he has to go back after the installs and fix things. The installers never set the air flow regulator and they did not add freon. He fixed it and it's running well. I think the installers are eager to leave early because they get paid for the full day. (they told us....) That is something that the company should amend. It incentivizes the installers to hurry up and not be thorough. I would think a company like this uses the metric "Reduce the number of times after install do to correct a problem" read more

They don't charge for estimates! And they also came and installed my new furnace with the old estimate even though it was technically expired. But they said it doesn't usually change the price unless you had the estimate over a year ago and suddenly want to have that same furnace installed. The guy who came was very polite and courteous. He did not make a mess or break anything, and of course the old furnace was hauled away without any issues despite my staircase being so treacherous down to the basement. ;) They let me pay over the phone too since I had to be at work right after the guy arrived (at 7am, which is pretty typical of their install times.) The people I talked to on the phone were great, and I was so happy they could give me a furnace estimate within a week or two of me closing on my house because with that info, I was able to get the seller to pay for some of the costs to replace the 26 year old furnace. Yay new furnace! I highly recommend them. I think a 1 star review is just plain inaccurate. It even looks pretty suspicious to me, like it might be from a competitor. Wonder why the filter didn't catch that one? Anyway, my BF's dad is a contractor and he used to live and work in STL and he always used Galmiche & Sons without any issues, so that's how I found out about them. Jeff Galmiche arrived to our house to provide us a simple quote for installing ductwork for our new kitchen range hood. I texted him that I would be 3 minutes late to our appointment but that my wife was home so go ahead and get started looking since he got there 5 minutes early. When I arrived just 8 minutes later he was done and gone, having left only a verbal and non-specific "quote" with my wife. I texted him requesting a phone call so we could discuss and that I had a question. I never received a response. Nor did I receive any follow up to his visit to provide us with a quote for the work. Wow this was surprising coming from a reputable company like Galmiche HVAC who I've used and been very happy with in the past. So I can only conclude that it's Jeff Galmiche that is the problem, not the Galmiche HVAC company. DO NOT WORK WITH JEFF GALMICHE. Request anybody else but him as your sales rep and you should be fine. read more

Less than a year ago, we purchased and renovated a condo in Kirkwood, and when we tried to change the HVAC filter we found it was nearly impossible to do. The HVAC unit, which was installed about 2 years ago, had been placed against a closet wall which requires one to bend, push and literally "wrestle" the filter into place (always damaging the filter in the process). A 15 to 30 minute process, at best. In addition, we find that our hardwood floors and furniture are always dusty - even though the doors and windows are always closed and only the HVAC provides the ventilation. A week ago, we called another HVAC company to deal with an unrelated problem (thermostat) and asked them about the filter/dust problem. They told us that the unit had not been properly located within the closet (which is the reason for the difficulty in changing filters), and the filter box was not properly secured (which causes outside air to flow into the ventilation system). It was then that we learned for the first time that Galmiche had done the original installation (they left their company sticker on the backside of the unit, which we had not seen). We called Galmiche to see if they would come out and correct the problem. Jeff Galmiche came out today and was very defensive from the outset. He reminded us that we were not his clients and told us that because the previous owner had not asked them to install the unit differently, they did what they did. Nothing else they would do about it. In other words, too bad - you'll have live and deal with it ... unless you buy a new filter system from us ($400) Clearly, this is NOT a company I would recommend to anyone. If they can't stand by their work, own up to their mistakes, and correct them, why use them. read more

I can't say enough good things a about this company. Our A.C. went out on a Wednesday evening. Turned out we needed a new one as two other companies told us on Thursday but they could not get a new unit until the latter part of the next week. As is that weren't bad enough, my husband was having surgery on Monday and couldn't come home with no AC. The second company's tech said to call Galmiche and Sons. Said they would be less expensive and might get it done faster. He was so right! Galmiche and Sons had a tech out early the next day (Friday) and he said would do all possible to get the unit installed before my husband got out of the hospital. True to his word, Jeff Galmiche called Saturday morning, said the situation had been explained to him and he had an installed willing to put it in that day! Less than an hour later, Mr. Galmiche showed up followed by his installer. By 10:00 we had working AC much to our relief. To top it all off the new air conditioner is so much quieter and more efficient than the old one. Thank you, thank you, thank you! read more

Extremely unprofessional and rudeness that bordered on outright hostility. The company sent techs on three separate occasions and failed to fix our AC unit. After spending several hundreds of dollars to "fix" the unit, the company suggested we purchase a new one. When I called to ask about the failure to fix the unit despite the money spent, the rep was rude, unprofessional and told me the soonest anyone could provide a quote would be after the weekend. After the rep literally hung up on me, I called a competitor and received a call from a tech within an hour (after hours on a Friday evening) and a text about a quote the next day. This place is dishonest and not reputable. Below is the complaint my GF just filed with the BBB of St. Louis. There are PLENTY of trustworthy and reputable Heating and Cooling Companies in St Louis... Choose one of them!! BBB of St. Louis Review.. Our Company contracted with Galmiche & Sons in the latter part of 2014 to install a new furnance and A/C Unit to a property we are rehabbing. After several delays in the rehab process the home is in the last stages of completion and we noticed that the A/C unit is not cooling properly. On June 12, 2015, our company sent by United States Postal Service a Priority Mail Letter No. 9405 5036 9930 0079 4862 692 to Galmiche & Sons Heating & Cooling explaining to them that the Unit wasn't working properly and that we needed a service call within (10) days or we were going to retain the services of an reputable contractor to finish this job correctly. The priority mail was the last option as this company doesn't like to return calls to un satisfied customers as can be seen on the other complaints on the BBB of St Louis against Galmiche & Sons Heating & Cooling. On June 18, 2015, we received a call from Galmiche & Sons in which they hung up the phone and did not return our calls. Around 3:15 or so on the very same day on June 18, 2015, a Galmiche & Sons Heating & Cooling Van circled our property twice in less than 10 minutes and was observed sitting 5 doors down from our property doing nothing but talking on the phone. As our employees and my Boyfriend, Patrick Duncan, was at the property that day installing the flooring for this property they assumed that Galmiche was there to service and fix the non working unit and was hoping they would get to it as they were about to wrap up for the day. The Galmiche employee attempted to go to the property next door when Patrick Duncan identified himself and that the property to be serviced was at the property he was standing in and that it was preferred that he enter from the rear as new flooring was being put down and didn't want it disturbed. The Galmiche employee stated that he was there to put a notice on the door. Patrick Duncan stated to the Galmiche employee that he could give him any documents and was given a reply from the Galmiche employee that he had to take a picture of the document posted to the door. Patrick Duncan removed the document from the door before the Galmiche employee could take a picture of this document which turned out to be a fraudulent "Missed Service Call Notice" that Galmiche attempted to post and photograph in their attempt to NOT fix the Non Working Unit and Fraudulently get paid for work and installation that clearly their emplyees cant accurately perform. The Galmiche employees shouted profanity to Patrick Duncan and returned to his Galmiche Company Van proceeded to make a call and wave at Patrick Duncan as he photographed this Galmiche Employee who finished his call and proceeded to leave. One has to ask their self before hiring a company like Galmiche as to what this says about their integrity if Galmiche would rather fraudulently leave a bogus "Missed Service Call" document instead of actually having the "Technician" fix the non working unit. I had Galmiche & Sons install a new furnace and air conditioner at a rental house a few years ago and received excellent service and excellent Lennox equipment. When my home air conditioner went out in June 2018, I called Galmiche and several other HVAC companies for estimates. Galmiche came out the same day - even though this was the hottest time of the year and all HVAC technicians were working overtime. Other HVAC companies tried to sell inferior equipment and then used predatory pricing and priced their equipment at more than twice what Galmiche quoted for fine SEER 14 Lennox equipment. Galmiche did a great installation and the equipment works fantastic. read more

He explained his philosophy with the repair, and even researched the competitor's product to explain the difference to us. These people could not be more evil. They came out and did a $600 job they said would last through the summer (pouring freon into the unit) as I could not afford the $1,800 coil my unit needs, and two weeks later, the air is once again, not blowing cold. When I called to tell them that their worker did a job that he said would last through the summer, but in reality, has only lasted two weeks, they said, "I beg to differ...he has worked for us for a long time and would never say that." I sincerely wish I had a video recording of our interaction to prove that he is a liar of the highest degree. This is absolutely evil- cheating someone out of their money who can hardly afford anything right now, and lying about what they said. I can't believe they are ok with doing a $600 job that only lasted 2 weeks when they specifically told me the job would carrying me through the end of the summer. Would anyone in their right mind agree to having SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS worth of work done that was only going to last TWO WEEKS?!?! How are they ok with that? I honestly don't know how people like this live with themselves. I sincerely hope everyone out there goes to ANYONE except for this company for their AC and is not scammed and cheated out of their money like I was. read more

Called for emergency service over Labor Day weekend. Service tech that came was very nice. Thought he could repair the blower motor that had failed, but it turned out the part he had on the truck was standard and ours was not standard (HVAC purchased from Galmiche also). I was told I had to wait until Tues am (this was Saturday) to see if the part could be located. I called Tues am and was told that they had no idea, their computers were all out. When they got back to me, they told me that the repair would be an additional $650 (we already paid $300). I asked for a breakdown in parts/labor because the quote on Saturday was $695 total including the emergency holiday service call prices and the diagnosis and taking the HVAC apart was already done. I was told I could "take it or leave it" and they would not tell me a price breakdown. The person on the phone also told me that he had no way to verify that a serviceperson had been out on Saturday (as if I was making this up). I decided to check with another company, who completed the repair within 3 hours of my call at a lower price than Galmiche. I wish I would've called a different company on Saturday. They acted like I should be deeply grateful they would condescend to help me and I didn't have a right to know the breakdown of the charges. I would not do business with them again - they clearly don't want my business. I cost them a whole new HVAC for one of my co-workers, who will now also use the company I called when Galmiche didn't want to use common courtesy with me. read more

Service with attitude. The tech did get the a/c running BUT showed up early to the appointment and was POUNDING on the door and JIGGLING the door knob as if trying to get in for an extended period of time. Freaked out two teenage kids who were home alone at the time. When i got home, still 10 minutes before the appointment, and mentined to him that we were not expecting him till 8, he just gave me a snarly look. Extremely unprofessional. What makes a business think that it is OK for their employees to behave in this fashion? I am a little disappointed that my kids didn't call the cops! He came in the house without as much as a "hi" and said one word "thermostat?". I had to stop him at the door to inquire what was the problem with the system. He went outside to check something else and shortly drove off without saying a thing. I am glad that he didn't back in to any of my property as was the case in another review I found on this company! read more
