    Leaking pipe

    We started using this company in 2022 for maintenance. Nick L. Was my service technician he sold me on the annual agreement. I couldn't have been happier with the customer service from text to when they would arrive to the gentleman who would come and service the air conditioner and furnace. Nick L was very knowledgeable and friendly. Explained everything he was doing. AC was old and kind of lagging behind so I asked what he thought and he said it wasn't going to die soon but would start driving my bill way up and to possibly get a quote on a new one. He was not pushy at all. He asked if I wanted a quote I said yes and they sent someone out. The gentleman who came out was pushy and just gave me a bad feeling. I got quotes from several other people but I still had my service agreement with classicaire. I didn't pull the trigger with any company and when the service technician came out again for my yearly inspection 2023 I mentioned how sleazy the guy was and he said that he was let go because of his unprofessional behavior and they would love to send someone else. I thought yay! Ok send someone else. So Mike S. was the next salesman. He was friendly and gave me a quote and seemed very kind. He lead me to believe that the workers were Union. They are not Union. I ended up buying the whole thing Furnace, AC, humidifier and adding a new vent in a room that was always hot for $13,000 September 20, 2023. Installation went great. Everyone was extremely nice. They cleaned up after themselves and explained everything installed and how to operate. The vent they added was a bit wonky (see pictures) not sure why they couldn't make it in the same rafter but who knows. October 30, 2023 still using the AC and we notice the house is warm and I was thinking clearly it's new so I must have done something wrong. Checked everything and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working so finally called for service. Customer service again was great. Again got text Matthew was coming out and would be my service technician. He came by. He drained the exhaust pipe and said the wire on the end was causing the build up. He removed the wire to the outside vent. (This part of the pipe was not new and had been in place since we moved in 7 years prior) I thought it was a bit odd that a new unit would stop working but figured he must know what he was doing. The next day I got a letter reminding me that I had to have my new unit inspected by the city. Again I was impressed by the customer service because I totally forgot to do this even though they told me when they were done. The city inspector came out and said it failed and that it needed a cover for the outside vent. The exact thing that was just removed??? So confusing! The City stated they would send the letter to ClassicAire Care. I expected a call within a few days but didn't hear anything. So I called my Salesman Mike S and he stated that these took time and someone would contact me. So I waited January 14, 2024 outside temperature 1, it starts to feel cold inside again I'm like no way. Sure enough Furnace has stopped working. I called immediately as the temperature was so cold the inside temperature was dropping fast. I got a answering service and they said someone would call me. No call January 15th or 16th by 1100. I called again and stated what was going on and Dustin apologized profusely and stated we could be seen today and the window is 1200-1900. I said I would be home. Now I wait. I will update when this is resolved, but from what has happened so far the text reminders and phone calls are great but considering my brand new unit has stopped working twice within three months of installation I could not recommend this company. *Update-January 17, 2024 1830 received a text again when my technician Anthony was on his way. They also always include a picture which is very reassuring when opening the door to a stranger coming into your home. He said the vent wasn't pitched right and water was collecting in the pipe. And the pipe was leaking water and he couldn't easily fix it so the pipe needed to be removed and reinstalled by installers. He said he would put in a ticket and I would get a call but it would be a week or more. He did temporarily move it so it wouldn't collect water. So not the wire that was removed last time. Will update again when hopefully fixed. Added pictures of leaking pipe and rust caused from the leak.

    I could have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. I hired Frank, he never told me his last name, to…read morerepair two bathroom drain pipes that shared one wall in early March 2026. I asked him if I would need a work permit pulled for these repairs and he said "no". I thought F.S. Plumbing was a licensed plumbing company. I later found out it is not a licensed plumbing company. I also found out from both St. Louis County and St. Charles County that a permit would have been required for these four repairs. When Frank came out to do the work, he tore out a part of the wall in my bathroom, he said the only way to repair both drain pipes was to cut a hole into the metal vent that was inside the wall. I asked him if it could be easily repaired and he said that it would be an easy fix and that I could fix it myself with a piece of metal and a few screws. He told me he thought it was a cold air return. When I told him my cold air return was in the hallway, he didn't respond. I then told him I thought that was the vent coming off my furnace and asked if he wanted to go to the basement to look. He had been in my basement earlier to look at my outdoor faucet pipes since he was going to repair them as well. He declined going to look in the basement to see what the vent was and he proceeded cutting into the vent. He cut a large hole in the vent and the way that it was cut I saw no way to repair it since the one drain pipe was running right through it. I decided to Google "can you cut a hole in a furnace vent?" I got the quick response of "absolutely not". I called my local fire marshal and he agreed that it should have never been cut due to it being the furnace and water heater flue vent for carbon monoxide release. I called a retired HVAC friend and he said Frank, a plumber, should have known that you can't cut open a furnace flue vent. He told me not to pay Frank until I found out how much it would cost to replace the flue section. After I researched and found out this information, Frank asked to be paid. I told him I couldn't pay him that day until I found out exactly what it was going to cost to replace the flue vent. He said he wouldn't leave my house until I paid in full. I felt threatened and intimidated so I wrote him a check for the full amount of $1495. Frank left the house and, I found out later, he immediately drove to my personal bank (of the check) and cashed the check that same day. Also, when Frank left my house, he didn't tell me to not use my heat or hot water, or to turn them off in the basement. I could have died of carbon monoxide poisoning if I hadn't called my friend, later, who told me this fact. My friend told me how to shut off the gas furnace and water heater valves after Frank left to cash my check. I didn't have heat or hot water for over two weeks until the flue vent was ordered, delivered, and replaced. (The vent was a special order and came from out of State since it was a vent from the 1960's and no other manufactured flue vents would fit properly or safely). Frank refused to pay for the repair which turned out to be a replacement of the section of flue vent between the two bathrooms. I got 4 bids for him so he would see I was trying to get him the lowest price for the flue replacement. The HVAC bids ranged from $1500 - $2500. Frank came over to my house a few days after his initial work and said he was going to "fix" my flue vent. He was holding a tube of caulk and a piece of metal. I told him again that the flue section had to be completely replaced. He didn't believe that the flue had to be replaced even though a fire marshal and six HVAC guys said the situation was very dangerous and the vent section had to be replaced. I spoke to Frank, off and on, for three weeks giving him ample time to do the right thing and pay for the flue replacement. He refused, and the last time I texted him he texted me "God is watching". I had the flue vent replaced and I paid for it. I, also, had to have another plumber redo the drain pipe repairs that Frank charged me $895, I had to pay an additional $1000 for the drain pipes to be moved to the correct position, away from the vent. I had to have the wall repaired with new dry wall and tape since the HVAC man had to tear the wall out to get to the entire flue vent. I contacted YELP in late March since Frank has the red YELP GUARANTEE but they have not responded to my filed claim. I have contacted the Missouri Attorney General Consumer Complaint department and they have opened complaints against YELP and F.S. Plumbing and are currently investigating the claims.
