a bar with a lot of liquor bottles

So Gwen is amazing and this is one of the most welcoming bars I've been in. The patrons are awesome here. I'll definitely be back because Keno owes me twenty. Great little bar.

Very tiny bar. Bunch of regular local drunkards. Friendly bartender lady far as this kind of joint but not overly friendly. Drink ordered was an apple martini which was strong so thank goodness for that. It was worth $7 for sure. There is a tiny daily drink special menu, but it was holiday time so there were only holiday style type drinks on special. I'm not into pepperminty kind of alcoholic drinks. Restrooms need some serious work. You have to step up to get in only to deal with piss on the seat and floor. Uh...this was the ladies restroom I went in. Shameful! Can you also imagine someone that intoxicated trying to step down onto the main floor of the bar? Can you say 'accident waiting to happen'. So if you go, use the bathroom at home first.

The rest of the bar and the booths.

I don't know if I was starving, unhappy or what but this place and meal hit the spot and hit it hard. I thought I deserved a drink so I got a Guinness, which was thankfully on tap so yah! I got the bourbon steak tips with steak fries and opted for a garden salad instead of the green beans - yes, yes, and yes! Steak tips were perfectly flavorful and cooked just right for my taste. I really wanted fries and (unlike some of my family/friends) I actually like steak fries and they were cooked up just the way I like'em (crisp outside, not too mushy on the inside). The salad though, yah it was basic and yet not - all kinds of different colored tomatoes which actually had great flavor to them, and it was not just a couple but quite a few and they were "fresh". That is basically what I loved about the salad - not your typical anemic looking/tasting salad but with mixed greens (not just lame looking iceberg) and full of other veggies. The server also could not have been nicer (like I said I went through a lot that day so seeing a friendly face was nice) and always checking on us. I think we made a great choice in stopping here - it was a 4:30 on a Tuesday and it was busy. Good sign!

Bottom line... it doesn't get much better than Dillon's Local…read more My only gripe is that it's a little small, so if your timing isn't right, you might be waiting for a table -- but honestly, that's part of the charm. It has that cozy hometown pub feel: sports on, music playing, and a great local vibe. The staff treats you like you've been coming in for years, making you feel like a regular right away -- and that's definitely a good thing. Homemade comfort food that hits on every level, a delicious menu from top to bottom, and a drink menu that complements it perfectly. And by the way... the Guinness pours well!

More props for their recognizing the wings were on the small side today, and compensating by tossing in a few extra. Classy. Good crispness, good tenderness and juiciness, which is even more impressive on a smaller wing. Strong flavors, with the Hot Mess Buffalo having enough heat to command your attention but without being a challenge. Mango Habanero mixed heat with sweet. -- Fish Sandwich: Giant piece of fish, curling out and up, crisp outside, moist inside. Aside from the coleslaw, my wife was very happy with it-- which is rare. Shoestring fries were a typical frozen version, but well executed. Service was great, even though (and actually because) it was not flashy. Syd anticipated our every need without resorting to the typical cliches. She slid in and out to refill water, take plates, bring napkins, and ask about beer refills with understated grace and efficiency.

Fries were OK. Onion rings were not good IMO (onion stayed too raw, though the coating was decent). The fish was quite good (although it wasn't beer battered, but it wasn't breaded either). The shrimp and scallops were decent and while I factually know people think their fried clams are quite good, I've confirmed, yet again, that I just don't like clams. I think my boyfriend's chicken fingers may have been my favorite though Followed by the fish, then the shrimp, then the scallops.

For those who don't like fried, I've heard their baked Haddock (done 3 ways) is very good. Kids menu. Cole slaw is included but you have request it. Cole Slaw was just OK, no seasoning but a bit of verdure in an otherwise fried fantasy. I ordered the Fried Clams-what else in New England? Market Price was $29 "with bellies". They were pretty good. Woods in town may be slightly better but the best spice is the view. Service isn't really, order your drinks at the bar, order your food at the window, a server will bring it to you. That's all you need to know. One of the best views in Plymouth but definitely picnic tables in the sand kind of place, bathing suits and beachwear.
