I planned a trip to the Cape, and while driving from Boston Logan airport to Eastham, Plymouth seemed to be a logical midway stop for lunch and to see the town. People debate whether Plymouth Rock is worth a detour, but I found it to be an interesting stop with a gorgeous waterfront view. While in Plymouth, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at East Bay Grile. The restaurant gives off a country club vibe with valet parking, a classic darker indoor dining area, and a wonderful bright outdoor patio with appropriate background music. I had the fried shrimp dish with onion rings and fries, a very tasty meal and a wonderful value at just $23. Our lunch averaged about $35 per person all in including drinks, tax and tip. I would highly recommend that people swing by Plymouth when visiting the Cape, especially if flying through Boston. If you do go to Plymouth, East Bay grille is the place to go for a wonderful meal. read more

Small, but very fresh and came things like with lemon, cocktail sauce, horseradish, etc. Their clam chowder was just okay. It didn't come out as hot as I'd have liked it to. The food did take a while to come out. Our waiter only checked on us once and we were waiting around looking for him to ask for boxes/the check. When the patio is open, it's really great to sit outside. The food is ok. I've never had anything that I thought was fantastic, but it's not horrible either. This last time we were there, I got the stuffed shrimp with a baked potato and green beans. It was ok, but I didn't care for the stuffing. We came for an anniversary party and were accommodated in one of the many side rooms used for small events. It was a great venue with lots of windows and water views. The wait staff was phenomenal! They were very attentive in responding to all our needs from cocktails to dessert. We had selected from two options, seafood or tenderloin tips. Our meals started with clam chowder which was delicious, though much thicker than I usually like. The enormous rolls were fluffy and the butter was sweet - very delicious. The four large teriyaki tenderloin tips were done perfectly and served with mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband asked for gravy, though not on the menu, our server brought him some. The seafood casserole was plentiful with shrimp, scallops and a white fish, though it was rather bland. I don't know what it was missing. Salt didn't help out much. Amazing food! I got teriyaki steak tips with fries and it was really good. The restaurant gives off a nice expensive feeling with a bit of coastal vibes to it. I love the energy and positive atmosphere the waiters bring to the table! You certainly can not forget the fact this restaurant is on the waterfront so therefore while you wait to get a table you can check out the jetty's and see the beautiful scenery it has to offer. We were driving to Cape Cod today and made a stop in Plymouth to see the Plymouth Rock. My husband was nice enough to find us this place for lunch. I am so glad he did because it was a great experience. We sat outside on their beautiful patio listening to some good music. Rich the GM is rude and inappropriate to the customers here. I've seen him be blatantly disrespectful to customers who are doing absolutely nothing wrong on multiple occasions. He will follow you to your table and make you feel intimidated, he will throw people out of the restaurant, and he will call you names to your face (including women). I'm surprised the reviews for East Bay Grille aren't a bit better. I thought it was a pretty solid spot with decent service. If you go during nice weather, I'd 100% recommend sitting outside to enjoy the vibes. Too bad they didn't have live music when we went - that would have put things on another level. In terms of food, I found it to be solid. The Steak Tips were so delicious! I don't think I'd come here specifically for the Lobster Roll, since there are some other more seafood focused places I'd try instead, but it's certainly an option. Not sure I'd go out of my way to make the trip from Boston, but I'd be happy to stop by if I was in the area. read more

The only thing going for them is the view! East Bay Grille has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I remember coming here with my best friend and always enjoying a high class meal but not recently. Located in Plymouth with a direct view of the water, this restaurant boasts indoor and outdoor dining with a view that makes you want to order another drink and never leave. I came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon and it was quite busy to my surprise. Their outdoor patio was nice, with excellent service and good conversations amongst the guests. It's funny how anyone can just spark up a conversation here (unlike the snobbery found in some Boston restaurants). I ordered a glass of their Rose (they have quite a few) and a Chopped Salad with Salmon. The dish came out looking meh! I expected it to be in a bowl since it was a salad but anyways that's neither here nor there. The salmon was very overcooked and dry and so was the salad. It wasn't a plentiful salad either, it seemed they skimped on all the good stuff i.e. nuts, cheese, dressing, etc. I was very disappointed and for $28 I felt there could've been more effort with both the sald and the fish. But, I will say everyone's fried sandwiches that I saw come out looked scrumptious. Oh, and I was drooling over the big order of Fried Onion Rings. I guess I ordered the wrong thing! Unfortunately, I had an awful experience here. We waited over an hour to get in on the fourth. As expected it's a busy evening. Not a problem at all we happily waited in line for over an hour. An hour after getting inside a friend waited in line to get us drinks. The bartender told her she couldn't get multiple drinks (even though she had 30 minutes prior in the evening with a different server) unless the other patrons were present. No problem. So we joined her in line so she could get those drinks. The bartender then kicked us out of the line though we did what they had asked. The bouncer then followed us over to our table and kicked out the rest of our friends as well as the table next to us (for no conceivable reason except they assumed they were with our party though they were not) The bouncer also snatched our drinks out of our hands as well as verbally heckled a friend of our as we were leaving and followed us into the parking lot yelling at him saying "what are you going to do about it you're walking away" As a server myself I'm horrified by the staffs actions and frankly will never be returning to the establishment. I've been to the East Bay Grille about 4 times. Each time I've went it has always been a nice experience with fresh food and good service. If it is a beautiful day. I highly recommend eating outside on the patio, you get a view of the ocean and fresh air. I've been here for both lunch and dinner. What I've found that are must haves... Appetizers- GET THE COCONUT SHRIMP!!! Probably one of the best coconut shrimp dishes I've had. They were plump and not overly breaded with the perfect amount of crunch (sorry forgot to take a photo bc we ate it too fast!) and you can never go wrong with the bacon wrapped scallops Entrees- The Hot lobster roll was better than the cold one and the fries were seasoned wonderfully. They make a killer steak, I am a ribeye gal and thought it was excellent. The seafood risotto was full of scallops, shrimp, fish, mussels and clams it was LOADED and delicious. Out of the 4 desserts I've had here (crème brûlée, key lime cheesecake, chocolate lava cake, a seasonal berry crisp). The best one by far was the berry crisp. I'm a sucker for warm desserts a la mode and this hit that craving perfectly. Each time I came here the servers were very attentive and the energy in the restaurant was always a lively vibe. I had lunch at East Bay Grille will my son yesterday . I wasn't impressed with my first interaction with a staff person. We walked out to the patio for outdoor seating and hostess (Catherine) rolled her eyes to the customer/ party of 6 in front of us. Luckily, they didn't notice. How rude! Then it was our turn to be seated. She sat us at a table of 4 which was fine however I asked to move closer to the flowers/parking lot area which was 1 table over. She told me that table was reserved for a lg party. Literally 6 min later she sat 2 people at that same table. I confronted her about it and she said "that was 15 minutes ago" and "that's how the restaurant business works, thank you" sounded rehearsed and not genuine. I've worked in the restaurant business myself and would NEVER tolerate an employee like that. Like it or not, interaction like that will leave a "bad taste" in anyone's mouth! On a positive, our waiter (Evan) was attentive and the food descent however fish pieces were flat but still tasty and filling. Way better restaurants (food and service) in close proximity. Our server didn't offer to refill our water, had to ask for bread. The crab and lobster rangoons ($20) had ZERO crab and lobster. I specifically asked the market price for the scallops and was told $38.00. They were $43.00. The good..... Not much. Sorry. This is the third trip to this place and probably the last. Side of coleslaw with a lite mayo based dressing. Same could be said for the lobster roll-packed with lobster and little mayo. The PEI Mussel appetizer was a meal in its self.
