We had the entire exterior of our house painted and it ended up being a lot more complicated than initially anticipated. Our house is quite old and a lot of the beams and sidings were not in good shape. Needed to paint the interior of my office space and Miguel and his team we're great. Very friendly and easy going with planning the work, scheduling, and addressing my concerns. They covered all appliances and furniture and cleaned up very well after themselves. They patched all the holes and cracks I requested and touched a few extra things up that I hadn't initially requested for our quote. We hired Gamas to paint the interior and exterior of our house last year and loved them at first, gave a great review. Subsequent knowledge has made me recant that review. Starting with the exterior, the porch paint was scratched so much after 2 months we had to pay Gamas to repaint the porches. We at first thought it was the Sherwin Williams paint we used, but when the paint got all scratched up again and looked awful, I repainted the porch myself. However, I sanded and primed the porch first, which Gamas DID NOT DO, and the paint has held up and looks great. It cost me over $3,000 to have them repaint their inferior work the first time. Now consider I paid them at least that much to do it initially, we can confidently say that Gamas has cost us at least $6000 in repainting fees---not counting what it cost me. Our interior has the same issue---wall paint peeling randomly. We need to do a lot of repainting a mere 1 year after paying Gamas to do it. We initially thought, once again, that the interior paint was a Sherwin Williams problem but we now know it was a Gamas problem and will cost us several more thousand dollars to fix. I RECOMMEND FINDING ANOTHER COMPAY TO DO YOU PAINTING UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE OUR SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS LIKE US. read more

We've hired Gamas Painting three times since 2021 -- first to repaint our kids' playroom/den, then to repaint one of our kids' bedrooms, and most recently (Nov 2024) to repaint our entire lower level living area. All three times, Gamas provided fair quotes in a timely manner, and they were able to begin work right away -- in this most recent case, the work began the very next day, which was a lifesaver to us in terms of other work we had scheduled for the house. I made an appointment for an estimate on some drywall repair and old peeling paint removal in my rental condo bathroom, I didn't get the estimate that I asked for. Even though multiple times I clarified to the estimator what I wanted I received an estimate for a complete interior paint job with no mention of repair. And that was several days past the date that I was supposed to receive the estimate (within 24 hours of our appointment). A few days before the estimate appointment I received a text message for an 8:00AM appointment so I replied with a text message and a phone message asking to move the appointment to 10:00AM. I didn't receive any reply to either message, no confirmation from them for time, date or address. On the day of the estimate the woman went to my home in Redondo Beach near Prospect Ave. and Torrance Blvd. (I don't even know where she got any address from), not to the job location in Torrance near Sepulveda and the 110 freeway. When she arrived she seemed very rude, probably because she went to the wrong location, shame on her for not replying to the messages that I had sent. Needles to say, I didn't hire them for anything. Regretfully, I have to leave this company a negative review. As I was planning to be out of town for two weeks, I was hoping to get some painting done while away. This was a very simple project. All I wanted was to paint the wall and ceilings in a family room and adjacent half bath white - all flat white. As I have already painted most of the house with Dunn Edwards paint, I wanted to use the same paint so I can assure the best match for future touch-ups or remodeling. I made this as simple a job possible. I told Linda when she came to give the estimate, I wanted a Dunn Edward's flat white, even for the bathroom. When I was traveling they communicated with me once more regarding the paint color. I texted them again I wanted a flat white from Dunn Edwards. They agreed to pickup the paint and I would just include it in the final payment. While away, they tell me the plasterer did not leave a good finish and additional sanding would be needed, of course, at an extra cost of $300.00. As I was already away and did not have a chance to see what the plasterers had done, I agreed to the extra cost. To my dismay, after returning home, I find the family room tracked full of plaster dust - didn't appear any floor covering was used. A hole smaller than a dime near the bathroom was not even patched. I can't tell what I paid the extra $300 for? And to top it off, they painted the bathroom in a semi-gloss, and all the paint used was not from Dunn Edwards, but was from Behr. Even light switch plates were not put back. In all, I regret paying them so quickly, and regret even more I hired them. I should point out that I have used this company before and they performed well in a prior job. It's unfortunate that their work is not consistent. read more

We found Gamas Painting on Yelp and based on the many 5 stars reviews, we contacted them. Miguel, the owner (a veteran too), gave us a really good estimate. Am pretty picky (thanks for understanding Miguel!) and even had Miguel put in writing that the team would come on consecutive days. Note: we had an unfortunate experience with a previous contractor where a 6 week job turned into a 6 month job. Miguel broke down the pricing by room and item (ie. window casings, doors etc). The hard working two painter team (Jose - team leader, jovial, always smiling, good eye for detail and Juan - pleasant, on the quiet side, super diligent ) were always on time and stayed late if they had too, cleaned up before they left, paid attention to the details, super considerate and did a great job. Just a pleasure to have them around. Towards the end of the job I had a punch list and they gladly addressed each and every paint issue. The only minus I had is their billing set-up: payments day 1, day 3, day 5, day 7 etc and the payments are based on days at the house and not work that was done and so you are writing lots of checks. But it all worked out. On the plus side they do accept Zelle but unfortunately our bank has daily limits so it didn't work out for us. read more

I bought my first home in Feb of this year, and shortly after closing escrow hired Miguel and his Gamas Painting team to paint most of my homes interior. I was trying to balance an entire kitchen remodel and had some specific deadlines (needed paint to be done before my hardwood floors were installed for example) all met without a hiccup. My kitchen guys (unaffiliated with Gamas Painting) actually commented on how great a job my painters had done! I learned that Miguel was also licensed to repair drywall and I hired him for job #2 which was repairing all the holes created/left behind by my electrician after installing all of our recessed lighting- this was not a easy job given my vaulted ceilings! After my kitchen remodel was complete and hardwood floors/new baseboards installed, I decided I hated my choice of paint in the main living space and called Miguel about repainting it - this job (#3) was much more complex because of my new hardwood floors (previously the old carpet was still in place), but his team did an amazing job keeping my new floors covered/clean! Most recently he completed the drywall/paint work for an impulsive fireplace remodel decision I made during the quarantine boredom (job #4) and dear lord you cannot tell the drywall was ever repaired. Miguel takes such pride in his work and it absolutely shows! What I appreciate most about Miguel is his honesty and his work ethic. He promises to follow up on any necessary touch ups (and keeps his word on this!). His painting company has honestly been a lifesaver for this first time homebuyer and first time home remodeler - having interacted with many contractors in recent months it is rare to find someone in the business who is so responsive and respectful. I don't like leaving bad comments but i don't care for people wasting my time. I had an appointment for 2:30 today, this appointment was confirmed via text messaging with the time and address of the location. They wanted to make the appointment for between 1:30 and 2:30 but I told them I don't get off work until 2:00 so the it will have to be between 2:30 - 3:30. They said no 2:30 is ok. I was checking my messages on my way home when I heard that he came by and I was not here and that he went to two different address and told him he had the wrong address. The call was time stamp at 1:24 pm. First off if you can't make the time scheduled just let me know. Secondly, if we confirmed this appointment via text why did you have the time and address wrong? Thirdly, don't ask me to re-scheduled after something like this. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO WASTE! I could have used this time for another estimate from someone that really took the work seriously. Gamas Painting was one of five companies I received estimates from for removing my acoustic ceilings, smooth-coating them, and priming & painting them. Not only were Linda's prices the best out of all five companies, but she was also the most professional and also the friendliest. Out of all the other painting estimators, Linda took the most time with me, explaining what the work would entail and all the intricate aspects of the job. Linda made detailed notes as she looked at each room carefully. I asked her how she became so thorough and detailed and she told me that she's been doing estimates for more than 20 years! I checked in at various times during the day and Nacho and Carlos were always hard at work, up on ladders, scraping off popcorn, smooth-coating, priming, painting, etc. I could really tell how much pride they took in their work. Since this is a family company, they have a lot of integrity and I could see that they deeply believe in what they do. When it comes to painting, Nacho is an artist, an expert at his craft. His work is seamless and flawless, with the accuracy of a highly-skilled surgeon. Since removing a popcorn ceiling is a messy job, I laughed when Nacho and Carlos said they would leave my townhouse in the exact condition it was when they entered, figuring that would be impossible. However, when I came to do a final walk through of the job, I was astonished to see that my place was cleaner than it was before they arrived! I had Miguel paint my house in Lomita 4 months ago and it was during a period where it rained constantly for over a month Every time they came out to paint the rain came so the conditions were less than ideal. He told me that whatever issues that came up because of the wet conditions, that he would come back and fix. I have worked with many contractors over the past decade and Gamas has been the best! That's a serious statement BUT they earned it by coming through on EVERY level from the initial estimate in late August until they handed us the keys back to our home in early Nov. Soooo let me give you the details: NOTE: We moved into a new home and spoke with several contractors for a whole house paint job. 2300 sq. ft. w/ popcorn ceilings throughout, weird, swirled plaster on walls and yucky wallpaper that needed removing. Just a total decor disaster! First, love, Love, LOVE VANESSA, she scheduled my initial estimate, walk throughs, job start date and did all of the MANY phone contacts, follow ups, emails, and question answering. Vanessa perfectly balances professionalism while yet giving you the feeling that you are #1 priority. She and I had over 2 months of ongoing contact (it was us who took a while to actually schedule).Vanessa patiently worked to answer all our questions which ultimately convinced us that if the customer service (for POTENTIAL customers) could be this great then everything else should be top notch too. He came out to take measurements for what was a very thorough and fair priced estimate....and given to us even prior to us moving into the house.
