Our pergola in the back yard was badly damaged by sun and ocean air, as were some of our stained French doors. Paul came out to assess the situation and gave us excellent advice as to how to repair the damage and move forward with better products. I think it's fair to mention that after the initial review, the owner got in touch to make things better. He made a large team available under short notice and I have to acknowledge effort and resilience when I see one. Despite, not being the cheapest offer, he won the competitive bid. Update after work While i appreciated the work that was done by the Liquid Oak team, we had a clear scope of work and materials included and yet Paul/owner was very difficult to deal with. He hung up the phone in the middle of a conversation on the first day after trying to charge me extra for what he deems is premium paint (SW emerald) and painting door trims that was clearly on contract. The paint on contract is Sherman Williams (SW). He then stormed into my house and caused a scene about how his team was doing extra than was scoped. You were supposed to paint and patch where necessary, yet you complained throughout. Then he tried to force me to pay cash, which I politely declined. Third, at the end of the work, he couldn't even muster a courtesy to come physically or call me to review his work. Rather he has been badgering me to change my review via texts. Even basic coordination of touch ups from his crew got me nasty text messages. You charged me much more than necessary for this job, at least 1K more than other bids. If I was to do this work again, I would have gone with a different company due to the headaches. Anyone could have done this paint job....cheaper. They did a fantastic job on my front door, but made a mess of my back door. When the backdoor was done there was paint on the door hardware, my steps, and my stucco. I pointed this out and they cleaned the hardware and said they could not fix the stucco. When I complained to the project manager they did offer to fix the paint on my steps and stucco, but it turned into an issue of finding the color to match the current paint. I haven't had time to do the coloring matching. My point is when you pay someone a significant amount of money to do a job it shouldn't create another job for me to fix their mistakes. This should not have been an issue to begin with. The stain job was great, but it was apparent that the person they sent out to do the back door paint was very inexperienced. read more

We finally decided it was time to paint our interior walls so of course I contacted Paul again. He responded quickly and was able to schedule us in sooner than I expected! I was dreading the process of painting because every room in our house is filled with "stuff". Paul's team worked with us to get our master bedroom completed in 1 day so we could use it to store things from the other bedrooms so they can be painted. The team was on time every morning and kept our house clean. Of course there will always be a bit of dust and debris during painting, but they taped everything nicely and laid drop cloths over our floors and carpet every day. Liquid Oak Painting is the only one I use for all my painting needs. Paul, the owner, is what I want in a painter boss. He listens carefully, he reviews the plan of action, he adapts well to changes in the plan, he quickly calls or returns texts, maybe most important, he regularly visits the site when his crew is painting. He was usually there in the early morning to review progress from the previous day and to make sure I was satisfied or had any changes or questions. Our house needed extensive termite repair work done on the fascia and 2x4s roof beams extending from the roof. His guys also can do repairs...wood, electrical, etc. We added soffits under the roofline. We also replaced 5 motion sensor lights and 3 lights on the front of the house. They removed old piping that had carried old internet and electric cables. Paul doesn't do the work but he has talented men working for him. I was lucky to get Romero and his crew. I was very impressed with Romero and his 4 crewmates. They always without fail, arrived at 8 a.m. and steadily worked until about 5...taking a break for lunch. The guys are a happy bunch...whistling, singing, chatting but they are always on task and professional . They know what they are doing and Romero is right there supervising and making sure everything is done properly. Truth is, these guys have worked together so long, that they know what needs to be done and how to do it. During the day there gear is well placed for efficiency but at day's end, they placed all their equipment in one area and covered it. They then swept around the entire house. Paul and I walked around the house with me and sent me the itemized bid I requested. After we agreed, we shook hands and work was scheduled. Pressure washing commenced only after the guys had protected the windows. Patching cracks big and little took a week along with prepping the wood. Lots of sanding...applying the scratch coat and a finish coat of patch. Tinted yellow primer for the walls was applied, a first paint coat and then a final second coat was applied which was basically a 3rd coast. The new wood was primed before it was installed with a final coat being applied once it was installed. If you're looking for cheap, Liquid Oak is not for you. If you are looking for top quality products and craftsmanship that will look great and last at a fair price, call Paul. It's funny, I noticed another house in our neighborhood was being painted. With a crew of 3, it was done in one day. My house exterior has taken 14 days...top quality repairs, prep and painting including not overlooking little details.
