The trail (non-paved) to the beach is moderately steep. Loose gravel in some points so be careful. It's pretty narrow too. The paved walkway backup is also steep and will get the cardio going. Along the trail are many picnic tables to sit, eat a snack, take some pics, and catch your breath. Only downside is parking is limited. Go early if you can. Overall highly recommend.

Walked around a little bit, played at the playground and relaxed a bit. He seemed to like the park. Both instances were pretty calm and chill. There weren't too many cars parked at the parking lot nor were there a lot of people. So, it was actually enjoyable to take in the nature and simple views of the park. Located in Auburn sort of by Lake Tapps, this park was super easy to get to and find parking. I was looking for a new park to explore and saw this. It's not huge but what I like about it is the connection the trail provides to other parks. The trail runs along the White River and offers both paved and dirt paths so pick your flavor. There is also a decent playground for the little ones and a dog park for the doggos to romp around at, they have separate sections for big and smaller dogs too. The path goes through trees to shield you from the rainy days and provides a nice break from the sun too. Not much bad to say about here, it's worth checking out!

Like many popular recreation areas, the lake can become quite busy on warm days and weekends, and occasionally some litter is left behind. What I appreciate is that by the next morning the area is often cleaned up again thanks to the hard work of park staff and community members who help keep the park looking its best. One of my favorite things about Steel Lake is that it is stocked with trout once or twice each year, providing great fishing opportunities throughout much of the season. Visitors come here to fish, swim, kayak, paddleboard, and enjoy boating, with only battery-powered motors permitted on the lake. Overall, Steel Lake is a fantastic local resource that offers something for everyone and remains one of the best places in the area to spend a relaxing day outdoors.

The best part is you can visit their website and you can check if the water is okay for the kids to play with . There's usually an update regarding if you can swim and such. The only thing I'm worried about is when there is no one there to facilitate the other kids swimming, because I noticed there were lots of kids who goes there without their parents or guardians. The cops do come around for their rounds sometimes, but not all the time . I always have my eyes on my kids because there were sooooooo many people and soo many kids during school break holidays and I can't even imagine summer break. If you want to entertain your kids for hours bring them here and just have a picnic and enjoy the sand with the kids. Don't forget the shovel and bucket though lol.

The park area is pretty and inviting. I have never had any issues getting in or out of the lake. It's also nice to have a restaurant that you can pull up to in a boat to tie up for a quick bite or a drink (Al Lago). The scenery is hard to beat when Mount Rainier is out in her full glory.
