On 12/10/22 we did a little shopping and we eventually ended up at Gamestop. For a long time I haven't played an Assassin Creed Game, the last one I finished was Assassin's Creed Syndicate. PLaying as a female assassin gives the game a who knew perspective with the female attitude. So it was my suprise and delight when I came across Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I happened to get a hold of the Blind King DLC (Downloadable Content) added to the game. It seems there is also two other added games I have yet to download too. Finding this at the store was something I could not pass up. Using my Gamestop card and added discounts made this game a steal. The associate who helped me buy the game had a great personality. This game is based on Assassin Creed during the time of The Greek Gods other historical aspects of the time era. I don't know what to expect, but maybe I will come across some mythical monsters like Scylla and Charybdis as well as others. Exciting things, but I love getting great games that I can play again and again. This game might take a long time to finish, but there is always Assassin's Creed Valhalla afterwards. I am glad I stopped here today. Who knows what we might find next time we stop by. read more

I came in today looking to return my ps5 controller. I brought the controller and the original box with the warranty sticker on the box. They said they couldn't process my transaction without the receipt even tho I've came in the past and they've returned it with just the sticker. After that we tried to look up my account to find the receipt and were able to find the receipt. During this process gentleman in the front didn't seem like he knew what he was doing and kept calling his manager on FaceTime to guide him through this whole process. At this point I've been in the store for over 20 minutes trying to find this receipt so I'm already a bit irritated. They found the receipt and couldn't give me a new controller because they were only offering a refurbished controller and not a brand new one. The manager said that they could only give me refurbished one and not a new one because of the policy. I asked to see the policy and the manager told me I could find it at the bottom of the receipt. I asked for a copy of my receipt and they refused to give me a copy of my receipt. During the past I've came to this exact location and I've always walked out with a new controller even if they have refurbished ones. They had terrible customer service and didn't try to understand my point of view and where I was coming from. This place sucks and they should really show customers their policy's to back up what they're saying because as a paying customer I should be able to see the policy's and employees shouldn't have to hide that from customers. If I could give this place 0 stars I would they suck. read more

Girl at the register didn't tell me I was being charged an annual fee to join their membership. I thought I was just giving my phone number/email for it. I was buying a console so I didn't pay attention to the extra $15 until I got an email about it being a subscription. I went back in to the store maybe 5 mins after to ask for a refund because I didn't want this membership if I have to pay and they said no. Didn't offer any solution just shrugged at me. Now on hold with customer service for 30 min trying to cancel and get my money back. read more

Overall the experience was a solid 1. They had toy story 3 for xbox360 which I couldn't find anywhere else so I went in with games to trade towards it. However I guess because they were older games from a Xbox 360 all but one were literally thrown back at me. I was told they couldn't accept them because the credit given is what they sell it for. I had sims3, which they took, but out of the 8 games that's the only one they accepted. The lady manager of the store who held the game aside for me, I called in over the phone a couple days before hand and followed up the day before I came to get it, was very friendly but she wasn't there when I went to pick it up. The Harry Potter looking guy who was there however is the one I'm referring to in the treatment manner. He was rude acted less then interested in anything he was doing much less customer service. Had it not been for this being the only place I could find toy story 3 for my youngest child I wouldn't have bought it. read more

DO NOT go to this store! Unfortunately it is my only experience with GameStop as a whole... but I will never go back! I bought my 7 year old a Wii last week for his birthday... and the extra remote control I paid $35 didn't work. When I was there last week, I made a comment to my husband that clearly someone had forgotten to vacuum the night before... NOPE. Apparently millennials simply don't know how to use a vacuum. The store was FILTHY. I waited 30 minutes to exchange my remote... and the girl had to get not one, not two, but THREE remotes before she found one that didn't have battery corrosion. I went in to buy Uncharted 3, Game of the Year Edition, new to get the DLC it comes with. After waiting forever, I purchased the game in the grossest Gamestop ever. The code for all the DLC didn't work. Called Sony and they said the code had been used. Called the Gamestop and they said the DLC doesn't work anymore when it was advertised in YOUR ad sitting at check out. After ten minutes of arguing, he said he would take the game back. Drove 20 minutes all the way back and got another copy. Mind you, the game wasn't sealed, but he said it was new and that's how the games come (LIE). I got home and tried the code again. Used already after confirming it with Sony. Took the game back and returned it after a giant hassle about store policies. Went to Target, bought the game, took it home and the code worked perfectly fine. I spend about $200 plus every month on games, and it looks like Target will be getting that business after visiting this embarrassment of a GameStop. The employees were horrible, rude, unintelligent slobs. The store looked like a day care made a baby with a thrift store. WILL NEVER GO BACK. Canceled all of my pre-ordes and will look forward ro going to Best Buy or Target for next gen systems. read more

This store is okay, not great. I've been to it several times. The staff is really friendly and I've seen them handle some awkward situations very professionally. However, management and/or corporate needs to hire more people or improve their scheduling, because this store seems perpetually under-staffed. They've never answered the phone when I've called and when I've been there, they've almost always had to multitask while a queue builds up. read more

This Gamestop has to be the weirdest in the area. Great location because its right across from the movie theater..but they hired some people that must really hate their job! Example, i've been a couple of times because, like i said, great location. I stopped there to trade in my old systems to get a XBOX ONE. The black guy that wears glasses, thinks he is master sales man to the point where he'll try and sell you anything that you DON'T need. I'm selling my games and he tells you, "This is only $2 dollars", in a very snobbish way...Duh! I wouldn't be turning it in if I wanted it bruh! Also, when I was getting the system, he was talking to me as if I was a complete moron to buying new gaming consoles! He kept trying to sell me a a battery for my controller when I already told him that I had my own at home! The main reason why I don't go in there anymore is because of this guys attitude towards his job! He greets the customers like he's being annoyed by them even stepping in to the store. OK, I've been shopping Gamestop down here since 98 and as a fact this one is not a locker room - foot smelling - den of iniquity - Go to the mall stores if that's your thing. In fact as Gamestop/EBs go this one is rather nice, and of all the ones in the Northern VA area I spend the most time and cash there. Staff has always been courteous ( I can name managers and employees going back 6 years here) and they look out for their customers. If however you are in there shopping for a used copy of Barbie Horse Adventures and don't solicit the staff's opinion they may not stop you. However that's your fault for not asking. If you ask them they are always more than helpful. Can only give 4 stars though because as a corporate entity, they are quite evil based on their trade in practices, this however is no reflection on the staff! :) read more

I brought my infant daughter with me into the store to purchase COD: Ghosts after taking her on a stroll around the lake to see some ducks and geese. The woman behind the counter made the snarky comment, pointing to my daughter "okay, now dad can put you down, go home and play his video game" inferring I would ignore my daughter. I looked down at my daughter and said, no, I'm going to go home and feed her. The lady says, "shame on you, you should have fed her before you came here". The lady didn't know me. Knew nothing about my devotion as a parent or the love I have for my child. All she did know, was that I was a customer, who had a baby, who bought a video game. I was so enraged as I took her home, I called the manager to tell him how disrespectful this woman had been to me. He said they were busy, and he'd call me back. I gave him my personal number, and told him to call me back when he had the time to discuss the matter, and his employees actions. I waited all day for a call. Didn't get one. Horrible customer service. I expect better. read more

This is the third time I have been in this Game Stop. If the staff does notice you, they ignore you. The manager apparently has better things to do... like drink his coffee in front of the customer and say snarky things. The final straw was when he loudly scoffed at my son's choice of games. When confronted, he said he was just tired. Whatever. If this is his idea of customer service, I can only imagine what the others working there think. You have a choice of Game Stops. I called a couple months ago because I wanted to know their selection of Funko Pops. It took 3 times until someone answered the phone and when they did it only lasted for 10 seconds. I asked if they had a specific Funko in stock and the lady completely ignored my question and said that I should come in and check them out myself. Like what was the purpose of the entire phone call? Do not go to this GameStop. While most of the staff is helpful, you have a random chance of getting the assistant manager who is probably the worst manager I've seen at GameStop to date. She'll constantly hassle you to preorder/buy certain items (more than usual to the point of being uncomfortable, as I know employees are pressured by corporate to do this), and she'll make you feel like garbage for cancelling a pre-order, or anything that inconveniences her in any way -- in fact, she outright refused me of a basic service. The best way to earn repeat business is to not treat your customers like garbage. You'll earn more overhead if your customer base had a pleasant experience and actually wants to go back. read more

I went to go get the new COD: Ghosts game and everything went fine during the purchase. When I got home, I realized that the case was broken. I went back and returned it (unopened) and after being accused of braking it for a minute or two, I got a new version of the game. The guy who gave me the new game proceeded to take my old game (the broken one) and put it right back on the shelf for the next customer. This location has some of the worst service people of any store I've been to. Normally, I would just deal with it because it's the closest Gamestop, but I'll be going somewhere else for my games after seeing them knowingly put a broken product back on the shelves. read more

I went to this store coming directly from work to upgrade my xbox one s to the one x, granted it was 15 minutes before the closing, but the first thing the associate said to me was " I hope you're not trying to trade anything, because the safe is closed after 8:45 and I can't give you cash" I told her that I don't need cash because I was getting store credit because I wanted the newer system, at which point she gave another excuse that it would take too long for her to check my trades, but that I could pay for the new system today, and bring my trades in tomorrow and get the credit for them. I have never been in a store willing to spend money and be rushed out because the associate thought that they may have to stay a little later to complete a transaction. I guess the company may not really care about profit margins by allowing people like the female closing on 03/04/2020 to handle their loyal customers. THE ABSOLUTE WORST (NON) CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN OR BEEN A PART OF!!! I will be sure to tell everyone that I know to NEVER go to this location. read more

I have to agree with the previous reviewers about the woman at this location. I could tell she was trying to crack jokes but they were rude and off putting. She tried to upsell my husband by making borderline sexist comments about how much men love to play video games and women do not. A good Gamestop, small as always but not sweaty, too compact and doesn't smell like feet and crotch. Despite other reviews, I've never experienced a bad smell. The staff is also helpful - I found many proper copies of games I needed after switching to the majority PC gaming. They always help me out and are kind. I go here a lot for when I want to browse some new games. If only they paid more attention to PC. These chain stores seem to have a big focus on consoles. read more

Terrible customer service. Please read. I go in to pick up a item I reserved online. That they said they had. And I get inside and there's just two workers no other customers. I get up to the counter and one girl is walking around putting things away the other is a guy and he is putting things away behind the counter. I'm just standing there. They both just ignore me. The guy tells the girl to come help me when he's the one behind the counter. She says "do you know what she needs" like I'm not standing there and she couldn't ask me herself. Then he ask and I tell him "I'm here to pick up something" and he ask the girl "did you hear her" and then she doesn't answer I stand for another 5 minutes being completely ignored then the guy says "fuck it I'll help her" and then another customer comes in and he gets help right away from the girl. then they couldn't even find my item. He gets on the phone and walks around and around and he starts yelling with the person on the phone and then FINALLY FIND MY ITEM which they didn't even reserve it was on the floor then he doesn't even give me a receipt I had to take it off the printer myself. Wish I could give this place a zero. I am from out of town and stopped into this game stop location to see what kind of deals I could find. The assistant manager in here was rude and annoying trying to push games on us that we had no interest in. And then when we would pick up a game that she felt was a "bad" game she would say things like it's not even worth the .99 cents that it was priced at. She was also very unprofessional blaming the employees for things not being done instead of just doing then herself and she even pulled the guy that was helping me away from what he was doing to scold him on the store floor causing me to have to wait even longer than I already had. Just to be told that oh sorry we no longer have this game in the store they were all shipped out and the cases were just not pulled. Again she blamed the employees. She was also not dressed in anything that identified her as a GameStop employee she was in blue jeans and a pink T-shirt I thought she was another guest until she answered the phone. And had a conversation with someone about how the employees were not doing there job. I was very uncomfortable while I was visiting this location and would not ever recommend anyone going to this store just because of her. The other employees that were there today were great and I give them two thumbs us especially for having to deal with her and not loosing there cool. read more
