WOW! I was really surprised to read all the negative reviews about this place. I'm glad I didn't see them before otherwise I most likely would have passed on using Mr. Video. I actually had a great experience. I found them online and requested an estimate. Someone from the sales dept replied immediately. I decided to use them and when I arrived to pick up my equipment I saw the screen I reserved was much larger than I had imagined. The receptionist and the AV person switched it out for me without complaint. I arrived to return the equipment an hour before they opened not realizing they didn't open until 10am. I was sick with the flu and trying to hurry to a doctors appointment as soon as possible. I called and spoke with someone who said the AV person was on his way and she would let him know to come early if he could. 20 minutes later I had turned everything in and was on my way to the doctor. I would absolutely recommend this vendor. They were friendly, professional and knowledgeable with amazing customer service. Kudos! read more

I am a volunteer for a local non-profit organization that provides services for the elderly. This organization rented a pair of stereo speakers with built in amplifiers (Mackie Speakers 15". SRM 450) from Mr. Video on July 3rd 2010 for use on our float in the annual Palisades 4th July parade. After around one hour of use in the parade one of the speakers emitted smoke, caught fire and then stopped working. According to the user manual the speakers have a thermal protection circuit that is supposed to cut the power to the amp and speaker if it overheats. This circuit malfunctioned causing the built in amp to burn up. We continued with the remaining speaker but the effectiveness of the float was compromised. Worse still, upon return of the equipment Mr Video charged $600.00 for a new replacement speaker. This is akin to a customer experiencing a roadside breakdown on a rental car and then being billed for the repair! The speakers were brand new and subject to a 5 year warranty in case of failure so it would appear that Mr. Video may have been attempting to have the unit repaired under warranty and in addition be paid for a brand new unit. After several months of fruitless correspondence with Mr Video the credit card company agreed that an injustice had occurred and charged back the $600.00. Also the units were powered from a car battery then through a DC to AC inverter. This inverter emitted a very loud buzzing interference throughout the operation of the speakers. A replacement inverter was provided but the problem repeated. Needless to say we won't be using this unscrupulous outfit ever again. read more

Not sure if they have changed their videographer yet but I used them 7 years ago and the video was SO fast that we could not watch it - it made us dizzy. They couldn't even slow it down. They missed videotaping some of the key aspects of the event. Would not recommend if it's the same videographer. read more

I rented a projector screen from the Silver, Spring MD location for a evening dinner presentation on 10/16. The screen was in very good condition and easy to transport in my vehicle to and from the event. I rented a wireless lapel mic, which is a pretty standard piece of equipment. I had to wait an hour for the them to pull the equipment together. Then they plugged the mic in to give it a quick test and held the mic up to their mouth to test it and the feed did work. I was in a hurry and I had to go. They knew this was for a wedding, it was very important to have equipment that worked. I paid $90. to rent the equipment. When I got to the wedding and started to set up, the mic only worked when it was held up to the mouth and not when it was clipped on the lapel of the groom. Every videographers nightmare. The DJ and I tried to troubleshoot for 30minutes or so. The DJ even concluded the mic was busted. The DJ saved my ass that day and I was able to pull audio from his deck and the minister ended up having to hold a handheld mic through the ceremony. When I brought the equipment back and informed them of the issues, they did not take the the equipment out to test it. Apparently it was my fault that the mic did not work and that I did not bring my camera in to test it even though my camera had nothing to do with the mic's ability to work. They stated they would have a manager call me to work something out... but surprise no call, no refund, or a credit, nothing. Shitty way to run a business. I don't even want to give them one star. Customer(s) should make absolutely sure they get waht they ask; otherwise, you will get a substandard product. Even after items sent back to rework, sales rep wanted to charge more. So petty and sad. The "business is always right" is a policy that will minimize the sales this company could achieve. There wil be no positive feedback to folks that ask me where to get videos created from old videos. read more

I had left a review previously but it was taken off as I had not fully explained my experience with Mr. Video in Springfield. I had called Mr. Video to see if they could scan some slides for me so I could use them on a website. They quoted me a price and told me it would take a few days, but then gave me a specific day when they would be ready. The day they promised they were not ready. They gave us another day, few days later and they were not ready then, again. I had to call them twice and finally my friend picked them up when I was out of town. Well, that took two trips to beautiful Backlick Road. I had asked them to scan them for use on a website. They scanned them at 2000 dpi which turned out to be an issue, 30-50 mb size for each, and I had to have them re-sized so they could be used on the site. We had issues with the images being flipped and when we went back we were told that we had to pay an additional fee which we did not agree to. So, my web guy did that for us. Our remaining pictures we took to Calumet photo where we paid 1/3 of what Mr. Video chargedand received proper prompt service with a smile. So, would I go back to this place? NO!!! I rented speakers and lights from Mr. Video for my daughters sweet 16 birthday party and I was truly blown away by their service and attention to detail. I had no idea how to set everything up but the gentleman took his time when I picked it up and come to find out it was as easy as 1-2-3. I was referred to Mr. Video by a close friend who is a DJ and he couldn't of been more right. This was definitely the place to go. The cost was minimal and pick up and drop off was a breeze. The contract agreement was clear and concise and they knew just what I was looking for. I definitely will be using Mr. Video in the future and recommending them to my entertaining friends. read more

Don't fall for the negative reviews on this gem of a business. I am a media professional and I make tv ads for U.S. Presidents, Senators, Governors, Congresspersons and commercial clients like Walmart, Microsoft, Under Armour...etc.. I usually send my archival super 8 films to New York or Los Angeles to be transferred to video and digital movie files. Then, I found Mr. Video! The name sounded a comical, so I was apprehensive, but I needed to have a project turned around in a few days, so I took a chance on them. They were more professional and knowledgable than some of the huge video companies I have worked with over the years. Their operation, at first glance, may look less than pristine, but their work and their commitment to delivering quality service, on-time and at a VERY reasonable price is simply awesome. If you have a need for anything audio/video, or if you have family films and videos that you can't view, I highly recommend that you trust them with Mr. Video's staff... you will NOT be disappointed!! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and RUDE MANAGEMENT. I am very big on customer service. This service alone makes businesses successful. I will start off by saying I have NEVER been treated so poorly by a company before. I contacted AA Rental/Mr. Video in March regarding renting an inflatable screen w/ projector and speakers for a big event I was having at my home. I asked could I just pick up the materials since I am local to eliminate the $80 delivery and set-up fee (this is not the first time I renting a screen so I am familiar with set up). The representative said that picking up the equipment was fine. I submit my $250 deposit then I later received a call from a gentleman saying he is the manager and they must deliver and set up. Okay, fine I asked for him to update my quote and send me a new invoice. I never received an updated invoice. I get a call back the next day saying delivery will be $450.00 or I can let them hold $1,000.00 on my card if I want to pick it up. However, they would not go over the equipment with me at pickup to ensure I am receiving it in good condition. You don't even give a $1,000 deposit for a vehicle from Enterprise without checking the car out for any scratches or marks. Clearly, they were just making things up as they went along. Every time I asked him a question, he would put me on hold. I later asked to speak with the "real" manager because clearly he could not make any decisions on his own. The "real" manager then gets on the phone and was extremely rude. I was beyond shocked! He goes on to tell me that if I don't believe these prices or have a problem with them that I should call back under another name and that these are there fees period. I informed him that I don't have time to play any games and if his employees are going to give a rate they need to honor that. How can you justify $450.00 for setup on equipment that you are renting out for only $500? I realized after speaking with him that this company should not even get a dollar from me. I asked about my deposit back and was told I need to let him know ASAP or I'm not getting my money back period. The audacity of him! Your people gave me the incorrect information and then you are going to rush me about getting MY money back. I tried to use a local company this time and it came back to bite me in the ass! The "clear pricing" on their website for 8mm to DVD transfer was totally misleading. When we delivered the film for the job they tried to jack up the price by nearly 100% before we demanded to speak to the manager to dispute it. They finally agreed to the price we quoted from the website. Then, when they told us the DVDs were ready, we arrived to the store to pick up the DVDs only to spend over 2 more hours in the store, waiting for them to complete the job with an additional fee because they miscalculated how many DVDs the transfer would take. It took 10 days for this. I went to these "professionals" because I was concerned that Walmart or Walgreen wouldn't have provided an adequate service...wrong call. read more
