With the eventual death and decline of physical gaming media, I'm not really sure what's going to happen to the future of Game Stop. But either way, I feel like most of them are heaidng towards the trend of being more of a nerdy merchandise or gift shop than anything, which was clear with this one as well. Don't get me wrong, it's a super clean and well organized store with probably the strongest AC I felt in the mall, but an entire wall, most of the back wall and a chunk of the third wall and the shelves and tables in the middle, was everything except video games. Mostly collectibles, figurines, plushies, and other home goods and trinkets that are themed after comic book series, cute characters, anime, and of course, video game IP. There are still used and new games you can get here, but the stock isn't as big as you can imagine. Also, a bit grim that it's $40 for a used game that isn't that highly rated or great of a game, but goes to show the market for physical media. Pricy but what can you do? Also a side note, my review for this mall included a not so great moment with someone being ableist, xenophobic, and pretty rude, but I know I can't explicitly mention details and rant about it since it probably will be a Yelp violation of ToS, but that interaction happened in this Game Stop if that means anything. read more

They have a ton of funko pops! I collect horror ones and grabbed a Ghostface one. I love it!! I loved all the horror games that they sell here. I found a scream game, IT the Clown Game and Deadpool one. I didn't buy those, but they were cool. Those games would be fun for entertaining any friends that love horror. They had a clearance section that I raided. Good prices! I found a Batman cup and keychain. The clearance deals were good. Service was good. The guy helping us check out with nice and friendly. Honestly, it had been a while since I went into a GameStop, and this location had a ton of things. I'm glad I stopped by to check it out and grab a couple items from clearance section. I think I will always love GameStop, for the nostalgia. I remember going to GameStop with my friends all the time, when I was younger. And spending hours in these stores lol read more

This place is shady and horrible. Poor business practices. I had placed an order for a few Christmas gifts which included 3 variations of the game Uno. They had a promotion where it was buy two, get the third free. Placed an order for this location for a store pick up. After a few hours, no email regarding my order has been fulfilled. A few days later nothing. Finally received an email saying my order was cancelled with no reason. Tried to re-order today and noticed the promotion was no longer up. Poor business practice/ethics. Did all this for what? $8 dollar items? If you guys didn't want to give free items away, then be upfront in the email and don't have these type of sales/promotions. If you didn't have them in stock, be more transparent with your inventory posted online and on the app. This is a reason why this business/company will be extinct within the next year or so. Don't support this business. There's a reason why a ton of stores closed over the past year. read more

Stopped at this GameStop tonight and the employees were so helpful! A game was not in stock and they offered to check other stores for me. The store was clean and we were made to feel welcome with the great customer service provided. I believe one of the employees was a manager. I'm glad we ended up making a purchase and it will definitely not be our last at this location. read more

GameStop fell off so bad. Called them multiple times just for no answer and to drive 30 minutes to find them sitting behind the counter just chilling. And to top it off, they don't update their system so other GameStop's told me they had in stock just for them not to. read more

During an event they gave a handful of codes to one singular person, after we had entered they stated that they announced they had no more but the line was very long and forgot to announce to the back of the line, no one in the back heard the announcement clear.Then they proceeded to be very rude once we asked if they had another code. read more

Jay was very helpful when it came to preorder information. I was blessed to find Marvel Legends Superior Spider-Man in the store and as I was checking out she told me about future Marvel Legends preorders that I might be interested in. I was definitely interested, but didn't want to take up her time so I said I'll check them out on the GameStop website. She let me know if I need help or have any questions later, to call the store and she'll be happy to assist. I did end up calling an hour later after I left the mall because Gamestop online showed Agent Venom was at her location, but when I was there I didn't see it on the peg. Unfortunately, the figure was already set aside for someone who already preordered it :( However, she said if the buyer doesn't come pick it up a certain amount of time then it will be available again so call back in a day or two. Does this GameStop even answer their phones or have them set up? I ordered an item months ago, it was supposed to arrive mid-February, And Ive been calling for the last two weeks with no answer. Ive had issues with them in the past when trying to call. And in the past when I have gotten a hold of someone they would tell me misinformation like I wouldn't receive my preorder but then a week later it arrives. This evening around 6, my brother ventured into the store expecting to purchase a PS5. However, the female associate there rudely and in an abhorrent tone, sneeringly insulted him using these exact words, "Get your broke, bum self out of here and come back tomorrow!" My brother reacted with some choice words himself back at her, though this incident would not have occurred if the associate presented herself in a politer way. Instead she colorfully showed the underbelly of GameStop customer service in an indignant way. Resulting in my brother taking his business elsewhere to purchase the game console at Target who provided an astounding customer service. If this is how GameStop expects its associates to present the name and brand of their company with rudeness and disscontempt to its customers then we will Stop coming and take our business elsewhere. read more

I find myself walking into this location and walking back out when I see a particular employee... Wish I knew her name but she's a Latina lady, older, usually has her dark hair slicked back into a bun. I'm scared to say that she might be a manager of sorts. Anyway, she's very unfriendly... She seems like she's being bothered even when she comes up to you and ask if she could help. I walked in today to check out some games and remembered that I was looking for a game the online store said they had. She "helped" me look in the case that I had already stood there and checked and then she went to the back drawers and checked. And she couldn't find it. I told her I'd check in a few hours to see if she found it. She laughed and told me not to bother because it's either in the case or in the drawer. Here I am a week later and it's on the shelf. Not cool. Her poor attitude really makes this place unappealing. I've dealt with some other of the employees which is why the review is not horrible. In fact ones if the other ladies is awesome. Don't know her name either. She might be Latina or white. Long curly/wavey hair. Fair skinned. She's always really helpful and down to earth. This game stop is as small as an elevator. Went in to buy a game for my son quickly, instead I had to wait for about 20 minutes for the the 1 cashier to get through 3 other costumers before me. It was super annoying, I mean, it's the weekend, why only have 1 cashier for the whole store. Makes no sense. Terrible customer service. I walked up to the counter to ask a question. I said hello and the employee said "Hi, can I help you" without making any type of eye contact, just looking down. When she make eye contact I asked- do you have Mario Kart for Switch? She averted eye contact again and responded "I'm busy right now, you have to wait." I bought an Edrenaline compact scooter from this location as it usually gets some weird items no other store within 10 miles have. After buying a year's warranty for the scooter and riding it normally around places, I wanted to turn my scooter in for a new one. This was back in 2017 but man did I get an uncomfortable and meek response from the two people at the cash register saying "our system only looks up things that have been purchased in the past 3 months unless you have the recipe, you can't prove that you bought it.". I just lightly nodded and said "okay", carrying the folded scooter back to my car. Haven't since shopped at this Gamestop, took my money to local gamestores or Best Buy and I use friend's gamestop rewards when I can if I found some old pre-owned games if I ever found myself at needed to go to a Gamestop. read more

This might be the most cramped gamestop ive ever seen... I love games as much if not more then anything and could probably dream of climbing mount-Mario but when there is more then 5 people in this store you will need to hold your breath and suck it in.. So many displays and bins everywhere, and if the guy comes out from behind the counter look out.. I feel like there should be a door man outside- one person out, one person in.. On a positive note, they get all the new stuff quickly so get in and test out the new games!!! read more

They don't have much stuff because everyone who passes by this location always comes check it out and buy everything good. Usually leftover clearance products left. Its usually how this thing works. The employee are friendly and entertaining at times joking about the videogames. Overall, this place is okay but you'd most likely wouldn't find games you want unless you're willing to pay full price for brand new games. read more

I have shopped at the gamestop at lakewood mall for years. And I usually leave satisified. I have bought several ps2, and 360 games here, including ds and psp games. One issue had was after buying a ps4 controller. I bought it pre owned for over 40 dollars. And one year later, the left analog broke down. I rarely have problems with my controllers. The games they have are usually in good quality, just steer away from their used controllers. read more

First, I hate how small the dang store is. Three customers can be inside with one clerk, and it's like being in an elevator. They never seem to have the game I want, either. I popped in looking for a game. They had a used one but I prefer to buy new games. The clerk said he would check and see if they had a new copy of it. He turned around and proceeded to have a conversation about how cool some other game was with the other clerk and a customer and completely forgot about me. I mean, it wasn't even like he moved away. HE TURNED AROUND. I could have landed a punch on the back of his head, which, I confess, is what I wanted to do. Every time I step foot in this location I always have a great experience. Employees here are so funny and nice. I live in Long Beach and I willingly go out of my way to drive (passing 2 Game Stops) to this location. Do not get me wrong, I freakin' love my local Game Stop in Long Beach. Some of the employees there are nice and great, but this Lakewood location is quite above and beyond compared to my local one.. I have to say that the only reason I drive out of my way to this location with a smile on my face is because of one employee I've grown very fond of with every visit. His name is Adam. He's incredibly informative with the games that they carry. He's SUPER funny and a bit witty. Also convincing enough to persuade me to purchase a game I had no intentions of buying when I stepped foot in there. As a person who has had past customer service experience working in retail, I feel as if I could read anyone and everyone who works in retail like a book. I can see who enjoys their job and who just darn right hate their jobs. The way Adam interacts with me during every visit is superb. He talks to me with such joy and humor it amazes me. Adam does not come off as an employee who dreads a day of work. Not with the way I see him interact with myself and others. When Adam and I conversate, we talk as though we're real friends and not as a customer to sales person. Adam's great personality and positive energy will always be the reason why I will want to come back to this location. Need I also mention that because of Adam's great charm and humor, my best friend who was also engaged in our conversation grew a cute little crush on Adam. Should have associates tell customers that if they are going to buy a brand new console that your trade in value for product will decrease by 60% once it is opened. I purchased a console and my family is dissatisfied and all I can do is trade it in. I buy something new a week ago, you'd think someone would be able to return something if dissatisfied. They won't forget to offer you a warranty though. Yeah here's a 1 year warranty, just in case something happens in the first year of the product, but it can't just be anything I'd pay $33 for a selected warranty not a full one. It's ok to bring up warranties but don't bring up return policy. read more

I asked the associate "ferni" about the used ps4 system and if the memory had been wiped. she assured me that it was, yet once I plugged everything In at home there's a profile on there that I assume was the previous owners and I'm just not able to delete the profile.
