GameStop return policy is ridiculous. We don't return opened items. Does that make sense? The only scenario I can think of where you would want to return something unopened is a gift. I bought a pair of pulse wireless earbuds and they are garbage. They disconnect constantly and apparently it's a known issue. The service is amazing and they can answer any questions you have about any video game or system. They have a huge amount of games to choose from including pre owned games that are amazing value and you have 7 days to return any pre owned game if you do not like it. If possible, I would recommend buying your gaming systems at a Best Buy or someplace that offers bags for the things that you buy. I bought a Nintendo switch and I asked for a bag because it was raining and I did not want the gaming system to get wet and they told me that they do not give bags because they don't sell food. The guy helping me, then proceeded to recommend Ross to purchase a tote bag. That is a literally the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard and I can only assume that GameStop does not offer bags because they don't want to pay the extra price of purchasing them. It may seem simple, but like I said bags serve a purpose--to help the customer. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION. I was trying to sell my Xbox Series S and the gentleman who helped me told me that it wouldn't show up when he plugged it into the monitor even though it was just working 10 minutes before when I unplugged it from my Tv at home. He would not try a different monitor or any of the other solutions that I offered to him and was honestly extremely rude and passive aggressive towards me. I feel I was racially profiled being as how I am a large young black male and believe he would have treated me differently had I been a petite young white woman or white male. I just feel he would have been more eggar to help find a solution rather than brush me off and basically say good luck sorry but we can't help you at this establishment. *****Update: Went home and it worked perfectly fine with no issues at all. So this review is coming from another perspective rather than the customers only point of view as I used to work for GameStop for 4 years a long time ago. I have worked at two locations (the Los Coyotes Diagonal one and this one), but have also helped out at the Carson location. I must say, of all GameStops, this store is by far my favorite. I am not sure if Mike still manages this location, but if he does, this review is largely due to him. Not only is he an incredibly nice, friendly, honest, and helpful employee to seek advice from as a customer, but he was also the most amazing Manager to work for. Every time I come here Mike is always there and he is super helpful. He is knowledgeable with most games, and answers all your questions. I've come here for a few midnight releases, and although it's a small store it can get a bit crowded. But all the employees seem to work pretty fast during it so it's not a big deal. I really only come here to either pre order or pick up my pre order but each time I go I run into Mike is super helpful. Also this GameStop has a few figurines that I've never seen. Such as the kingdom hearts figures. Which I'm very tempted to buy each time because I've grown impatient waiting for kingdom hearts 3 lol. Bad experience, I purchased a game and 2 gift cards when I got home I then open the game and the disc was not inside. I then called them and told them that they forgot my game and the guy laughed and said my bad dude. I then told him that it's out of my way to go back and get the game. Perhaps this is true because I love games and the employees do, too. - The game selection is as it is expected to be at any Gamestop location. - Midnight release events are fun here. One can tell that some effort was put into the events however small these events may be. - I will always remember this location for it is where I picked up my copy of Battlefield 3 during a midnight release event. It was fun. THE BAD - I always feel financially cheated whenever I trade things in at a Gamestop. You can't blame that on the staff. I can't say enough about this store. When all my friends were going everywhere to find games this store had it all. I was immediately helped (and while my kids know these games I don't so I needed all the help I could get!). Shawn checked me out and he was super helpful. I ended up getting a virtual code for a popular game and I lost the receipt!?! I went in any they were able to pull the code from my son's account saving me $65.00! Highly suggest to keep the pro account active!!! Would not be hesitant to suggest this store if anyone is looking for video games, I won't be going any where else!!! Let me start off by saying Patrick M. is just amazing!! I accidentally bought the wrong game from the spring location and the staff were total jerks about refunding me. Even though I had realized just minutes after I had bought it. The wrapping was still intact and everything. They didn't want to give me the time of day because it was slightly inconvenient. So my husband called this location and explained the situation. Patrick was so empathetic and patient. He really went out of his way to help us. He called two different stores and played middle man. He went out of his was to ensure the spring location would issue a refund and the 5th street location would hold a game until I arrived to pick it up. He was so nice about all of it. I always wonder why dudes that are such good salesmen work at places like Gamestop. The way this guy was wheeling and dealing and talking about memberships and preorders and free extra features, you'd think he was selling me the special undercoating on a Buick. My home store for buying all my video games! The manager Mike is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and super knowledgable. The staff who have been at the store have varied over time but most are friendly and helpful and are down to geek out with you and discuss the latest greatest and the greatest flops. Great selection of games, and if you want something they don't have they can order it for you-no shipping fee! Even if I don't have a game in mind I will rummage through the bargain displays, I've gotten some pretty sweet older games for $5! read more

Whenever I go into a Gamestop I always feel like I'm going to be cheated out of money through their terrible trade-in rates or their pre owned prices. And to be honest that's always the case, but the employees can't help it but that is what makes this Gamestop so much better than the rest; customer service. I worked at gamestop for 5 years. (ASM) I walked in the store to return something. I'm not going to name any specific employees for their privacy reasons. I was next in line and one of the employees who was ringing left the counter right after they helped the customer before me. They then walked around me to start doing go backs! I've had crazy issues with refurbished controllers being grimy, broken, or non responsive (Xbox1x) the location on Lakewood blvd in downey gave a defective controller and joked about the visible issues (scrapes and cheeto dust). 3 Gamestops later and I find Shawn at this prestiged location. I had originally ordered an Xbox Elite 2 controller on from their website and when it arrived a week later, it was defective. After a few days I called this location asking if I could exchange it for the same item, but the sales associate said they didn't have it in stock - one would be arriving soon and he could contact me when it arrived. He took my information down and I then waiting for the call. Two weeks went by, so I decided to follow up and see when it would be arriving. When I called, they said they didn't have an estimated date. Upon deliberating for a couple of days, I decided I didn't want to keep waiting to exchange a controller that they still didn't have in stock, for one that I was already skeptical about the build quality. I called up and asked if I could bring it to the store for a refund or exchange it for something else that was in stock, and that's when I met Robbie, the AGM. He told me it was there policy not to exchange for a different product if it's defective, and I explained that I'd been waiting and that I didn't want to get a new controller and have the same thing happen - he said bring it down and he's see what he could do. When I arrived at the store, he looked up my order and said that it was over 30 days since I ordered it - I explained that it was under 30 days since I received it, and that I had called multiple weeks ago about the issue and was awaiting their response. He tells me he will "make an exception this time" if I want to pick out other items for an exchange. I pick out an Xbox headset and notice that they don't have any new games, I ask Robbie why all of the games they have are used and he points and says, "those are the new games"...I kid you not, he was pointing to a tiny selection of literally ten games. I grab one of those 10, COD:MW, and bring that and the headset up - he says "we are out of that headset". I ask him which headsets he has of the 20 or so boxes on the wall. He tells me none, that he can't take them down because of "visual merchandising". He also tells me that they are out of COD:MW....one of TEN new games that he said they had in stock. At this point I can't fathom how they are even around when they don't have any product to sell. After arguing with him and asking him to explain to me how I am supposed to spend the controller balance, he finally gives me a gift card refund. So I go home to order some stuff online and they're out of stock on most things - typical games that are in stock everywhere else. I used to buy games from GameStop exclusively when I was younger - it's unfortunate how it's changed. No common sense policies and a facade of empty boxes. When there are so many facets for purchases, you need to be reasonable in order to stay relevant and retain clientele. read more

I don't buy games as much as I'd like to but when I do, I go here. There's usually always a line but it goes by pretty quickly. The employees are always able to give recommendations and they never give me dirty looks whenever I go in to get Pokemon event cards without buying anything. I like that you get to return accessories for a full refund if it doesn't work out for what you're trying to do. Luckily, I didn't have to return my dorky PS3 controller because it works on MMOs without issues. This Gamestop is also at a really convenient location, surrounded by various fast food chains, coffee shops, Chase bank and grocery stores. read more

A couple of updates. First, I decided to call Sony directly, and they offered to replace the unit at no charge. Fantastic customer service right from the original call. Second, I received a call from Gamestop corporate today and they said they'd handle it, even offering to send out the replacement unit before I had an opportunity to package up and send the broken one. I have to admit, that as much as I am annoyed at my original contact with Gamestop (who doesn't understand the difference between a return and an exchange anyway?), the escalation of the issue and the additional effort of management warrant positive comment. I'll post when all is said and done, but it looks like they're turning the ship around, and that's all that matters in the end. read more
