Don't let the size of this store fool you. It may be smaller, but it's absolutely packed with everything a gamer could want. They carry game systems, new and pre-owned games, collectibles, stuffed characters, t-shirts, and plenty of other fun finds. There's something to catch your eye no matter what platform or genre you're into. The gentleman working behind the counter was incredibly friendly and took the time to answer all of our questions. I didn't catch his name (he wasn't wearing a name tag), but his customer service really stood out. We've visited multiple times and have consistently had great experiences. gift card It was good overall until I bought a 20 dollar steam gift card, but instead of those actual cards they give you, they gave me the code printed on the receipt just for it not to work. I contacted them to see if they could get my steam code working, but they told me to contact steam which they said to get into contact with the retailer which they couldn't do jack about. Basically robbed me of 20 dollars for some bs receipt code. read more

I love the convenience of GameStop, I phone them to see if they have a game I am looking for and they inform me which stores have it on stock. Their is never line and the whole process is very quick. They have a good selection of random plushies like Pokémon, five nights at Freddy, among other characters. They also had some hello kitty merchandise which was a nice surprise. read more

This review is based on my pre-order of Pokémon Violet/Scarlet. The short version is that I went to pick up my game on 11/17 @ 9pm. I waited out in the cold for 30 minutes before they opened and when I handed them my receipt for my paid-for item I was asked if I had a ticket. I did not, so I was told I was unable to pick up my game and that I would need to return at 10am the next morning. The longer version. I haven't pre-ordered a game in years and I was hyped for Pokémon. I had made plans to meet up with a friend after pickup so we could play together. I pre-ordered my game months in advance, and neither was told about nor received a ticket. I went in a month later to pay off my remaining balance for the game, but again, no ticket or mention of one. I received a phone call 11/14 as a reminder of my pre-order and that I needed to bring my receipt upon pickup on Thursday night. As mentioned above, I was unable to pick up my game and this Gamestop single-handedly ruined an experience for me. Unable to play, had to cancel with my friend, and I had difficulty sleeping because of how upset I was. I went in the next morning at 10am and received a refund as I had picked the game up HOURS earlier at Target. Three people in line with me were also not informed about the ticket, and on my way out there were more people there for the same reason. The owner appeared apologetic, but also a little defensive by telling me that there were a lot of people that did receive their ticket, so it was my fault because...? It was a screw-up and he needed to own it. Rant. What is this ticket system? I had bought and paid for my game, and my game was THERE, but because I didn't come in earlier (not even sure when) for some magical ticket, I was denied my purchase? Why not provide a handout to those that preorder with simple instructions. Why does this message need to be conveyed in some cryptic phone call? Why not limit the amount sold for early pickup and inform new customers that the limit is reached, and they'd need to come in the next day? This could all be stated on a receipt or separate handout. There are several simple solutions that the owner should explore, but for me, I am done. I won't ever purchase from this Gamestop or perhaps any other. read more

We come in 10 minutes before closing and we're looking to purchase headphones. An associate takes 5-6 minutes roughly explaining the products and we found the headphones we wanted to purchase, it didn't have a tag on it so we asked her to ring it up on the computer. She says it's unavailable, so we ask if there's any other headphones and she's shows us about 3-4 different pairs all out of stock. When it turns 8pm another associate rudely tells us that we need to purchase a pair of headphones or we need to get out. I've never experienced such RUDE customer service. We basically got kicked out of GameStop because the associate didn't know which inventory was in stock or not. read more

Impatient, whiny people need to grow up and stop rating GameStop badly just because they didn't have the game you want. Or because you stood in line for longer than you wanted, or because the employee was busy at the time you wanted his help! Here are some true facts about life and this store. #1. Stores get BUSY from time to time. I have came into a GameStop and had no one in line, and at times I have to wait.. Sometimes a customer has a plethora of questions and is overly chatty. Sometimes someone is trading in a system and games.. They have to check/scan/enter every game/system you bring in... My buddy traded in a PS2 and 25 games, that took a bit to check every game! #2. Sometimes they're not going to have the used game you want... BOO HOO! There's only 1 game stop in existence... OH WAIT NO THERE ISN'T! Why don't you call ahead and ask if they have the game you want? And if they don't then how about making like Watson and I'll be your Sherlock Holmes and I'll give you a freaking clue! call the other bazillion GameStops and see if they have the game you want!!! #3. Yes used games are sometimes a little pricey, yes you don't get top dollar for your trade in's.... It's a freaking BUSINESS not a come into our building of games and we will pay you exactly what your game is worth so our BUSINESS fails and we can go out of BUSINESS!!... if you don't like the price you get then go on Craigslist or EBay and stop crying or I'll mail you a box of tampons! #4. This store has very helpful employees! Any question I have they answer! I fully paid for Home Front and I'm going to be out of town on release day, I called and the lady that answered the phone got my full name so she can print up my codes for my free content since I pre paid and is holding them for me since they only do a limited amount of "special codes"... The staff is always helpful. They know all the details of whatever game you're inquiring about. They do tend to push hard pre-order games in addition to your purchase. Their inventory can be classified in two categories: reasonably priced new games out in the past 3 months & overpriced games that will clog their shelves for months. I wish they bargain priced the older games. We know they only give a dollar or two trade-in credit for some of these games. Pricing them at $5 isn't going to put them out of business. read more

We have been return customers to this Gamestop for some time because of the great customer service that we receive everytime we come here. Today was another Great experience and Celsie handled are issue. We have had multiple problems with PS4 systems for some reason an we had to return again our second time. We had the original box and everything required to return the system. We had the original receipt and was a breeze returning it and swapping it out for a fresh new system. Ive been to other places and even with original box and receipts would get hounded over who and why it wasnt working etc... She was very very helpful an very kool gamer girl to talk to about the systems and new games coming out and was very knowledgeable about upcoming deals they are planning on doing in store . She also informed us about a layaway system that is going to help us buy the Nintendo Switch easily for Christmas for our daughters . :) Overall Ceslie was amazing help. I went to this GameStop and asked if they had an item in stock. The employee said no they didn't, but he could look it up in the computer and see which other store would have it in stock. The employee told me which store had the item I wanted, I was grateful and left. When I arrived at the store that was supposed to have the item I wanted, they told me that the guy at the first store I had dealt with had given me false information. I do business with this store periodically because I manage a store in the same parking lot. I usually have good experiences with people that work her, BUT today was garbage beyond garbage! The people told me that if I can in I could transfer my $5 that I used to put a game on hold and pre order Black Ops and still get the infinite gun. 10 min later I send a staff member of mine to go do exactly that and they stated they could not do it. The guy I talked to actually told me they have back up codes they could give me. BUT when my staff got their they stated they couldn't do that either. The staff her honestly sucks at customer service and driving sales. I guarantee this store is on the failing end for GameStops and I recommend you go out of your way and go to the Tracy location. I called them and they instantly told me yes just come in and we will handle it. That's exactly what I did the they kept their word on the back up codes. Do yourself a favor and never go to the GameStop in Plaza Parkway. The people their hate their life and just attempt to make people miserable. read more

1 star for their return policy. I originally bought a 3DS XL and 2 weeks later decided I wanted a Playstation Vita instead. I was told that I can only exchange the 3DS for another 3DS, or trade it for store credit for about half of what I paid for it. No refunds. They also do not price match if another store is selling an item cheaper. From now on when I buy a game system I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

This location is pretty good. it's your typical GameStop but overall the 4 star rating is for customer service. I recently purchased a used game for my son and when I brought it home there was some issues with the loading of the game. I purchased it at another location in which they had no more in stock and this location had another copy and easily exchanged it with a better copy. I was in and out of there in less than 5 minutes! I like the way they remodeled the place. The new flooring is fabulous. Might be why I'm always walking in to check them out when I'm nearby. They have plenty of games and accessories. Only thing I don't like much is the 50/50 chance of getting good customer service. read more

They don't fully inspect used controllers, we have bought two used controllers and they swore up and down nothing would be wrong with it. That they supposedly test it carefully and when we asked to test it with a game on, their eyes widen & started giving attitude. We refuse to buy anything from this store especially if they are going to give costumers attitude and keep giving them lies. read more

I am in here all the time! My sons are big time gamers! This store has excellent customer service, they are super knowledgable and have no problem explaining everything I need to know (I'm not a gamer at all)! They aren't pushy or just trying to make a sale. They have always been up front on what's best (used or new). Been to 2 other gamestops in Modesto, but I like this one the best. Where do I Begin with GAME STOP... Do I start off with rude customers service or eating while working and not paying attention to customers.. I worked in Customer Services many years I can tell you now ... All employees need a 101 in Customer Service.. WE as Customers are what brings in the revenue I would never handle it in that way they did not try to resolve my issues!!! Do Not buy a used console !!!.. They swear nothing would be be wrong with their Refurbish console asked Me if I wanted to purchase warranty and simply purchase the two year warranty.. They Did Not mention anything about if the Refurbished Console had a natural defect that if I go and try to exchange for a WORKING CONSOLE that my warranty that I purchased for two years will no longer be Valid .. mind you the said if there's anything wrong I can exchange the console.. Not true !!! Your better off buying a New Console with the manufacturer warranty and ends up paying the same price maybe even less .. NOW IM STUCK WITH ANOTHER REFURBISHED CONSOLE AND NO WARRANTY BECAUSE I'M not paying another $50 for a Two year warranty because their console has a DEFECT.. Just Beware when you purchase anything from here .. RIP OFF!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! If you look on the back of the Receipt it does not state how the warranty works I had to ask to see the contract.. So if your planning on purchase pull up their contract because they will not tell you that if their refurbished console is a piece of **** and you buy warranty be prepared to go through what i had to go through!!!!
