I'm getting up there in age... my childhood consisted of going to an arcade to play games... I could kick butt on Galaga, Q-Bert, Frogger, and Defender. However things have evolved so far beyond the days of my intellavision or the local arcade that I'm in awe most of the time these days. It can be pretty disheartening when your 5 year old kicks your but at Smash Brothers or when your 10 year old crushes you on Madden football! (I have however found that I'm pretty good at Resident Evil But that is only because my kids are too young to play it yet) My kids love to play... of course... and I battle to limit their usage... but once in a while we venture into this den of cyber escape and browse the shelves for future things that they can beat my butt at. The staff here is very helpful and patient... from explaining games to my 10 year old or my 5 year old or to me, their dad, so I can make sure they are appropriate. The selection is just mind blowing! And the prices are in line. They will also buy back the stuff you are done with and don't use anymore! I have to remember that... we have drawers full of old stuff for the Wii we don't use anymore! This is video game geek heaven but they are not so over the top that you feel stupid or like you are talking to the Big Bang theory guys either... they can bring it down to "parent level" which I appreciate very much! This is the same GameStop I used to visit when I was a kid, and now, I get to make memories here with my son. The employee went above and beyond to help us pick out a game, was incredibly kind and patient, and made the entire experience feel personal and genuine. It wasn't just about a sale--it was about connection and great service. They had a variety of goods, from blind bags/boxes of various characters, to t-shirts, funko pops, plushies, cute loungefly backpacks, figurines and tumblers! Prices vary, can be affordable to "wow, let's save it on our wishlist for next visit." My 6-year-old son loved everything he saw. Went to this location to check on Pokémon cards, I found a DBGT pop figure that I decided to get instead, and the manager that was there had a little pretentious attitude about the anime series with me. Then instead of letting me see other boxes of the same Funko pop to choose from, he told me he could not because he was holding them for his buddies because they were collectors. I'm a collector as well, so why can't I have first choice if I'm there first. Proof that shows you that they have a culture of saving certain items to sell out the back. What a shame. read more

My sons and I just went went to Game stop for the first time. We went not knowing anything really about Pokémon card, but my son is trying to start a collection. The two men working were amazing. One's name was Jose and he made my sons entire month! They were both friendly and we are now members and will be visiting once a month to go and grab more cards to build up our collection! The girl who works here is extremely rude. I wrote a bad review about her 6 months ago and actually won the $100 gift card from the receipt! (So yes you actually can win!) I didn't go back to that location for a long time after my first interaction with her. I looked in the window one day and saw a guy working so we went in, and he was great! I bought a headset for my son and got the warranty, which is what brought me back in today. I'm not feeling well or I would have gladly drove to another location, but this one is closest so we had the displeasure of meeting her again. I was hoping she was fired by now. GAMESTOP read your reviews, she's a problem. I walk in with my son, she greats me with a "yea?" I turned around and said "are you talking to me?" No "hello" no "how are you" I got "yea?" like I'm inconveniencing her already by just being there. I should have walked out at that point. But she continued to be be rude. I was there to use my warranty on a headset that I bought my son and of course left without having anything fixed. She just argued everything because she's too lazy to actually do her job. She had a friend in there with her "shopping" and they were both laughing when we we're leaving. My son asked me why she's so rude all the time, so thanks for another terrible experience. Over the years, my faith in Gamestop has been dwindling, but the experience that I just had was ridiculous. I was having a warranty claim issue, which we paid for, and the lying silver tongue salesperson implied that if our system was faulty or needed a claim, we would have a new replacement. It's a refurbished replacement, and you can't do a single part of the console, like a controller; which is all I needed for a drifting issue. The actual manager was super rude and even hung up on me. I don't recommend making purchases with Gamestop, but for the Pflugerville location on FM685 especially. read more

I brought my son who just turned 4 years old to buy a game for his birthday and it was not a good experience T all. The sale associate had poor customer service and her attitude was not the greatest. My wife showed up at this GameStop location on Thanksgiving for Black Friday at 3pm to wait in line for the PlayStation 5. While she is very familiar with Black Friday procedures in which if there's not enough product then you are out of luck (this location only received 2). However, she was 2nd in line and the only person in front of her was a 16yr old and his 9 yr old brother. She knows this because they were in line all night and said as much. So, the morning comes, and it's approximately 5 minutes before opening this man comes up to the 2 boys and says "I have my car around back so no one would see me coming up." He takes off, telling them he would wait behind the building to grab the systems from them. When the store begins to open and manager comes out to cut off the line, the older boy proceeds to tell the manager that they're cousins and from two different house holds. The manager offered that the younger boy would be allowed to buy the system if the boys can find a father for him to be with. The boys perk up and say that the younger boy's father is nearby. The older male that approached them before comes around the side of the building and posed as the boy's father. The manager asked for their IDs to prove they are different households, and the older boy says he doesn't have an ID, which the manager says is fine. As they are letting him in the door, my wife (respectfully) lets him know what these men are planning and the scam that they are performing. The people in line behind her, some of whom were also waiting for the PS5, began to get angry and told him that the PlayStation rightfully belonged to my wife, in an amazing show of solidarity. Even with my wife and strangers in line telling him otherwise, he continues to sell them both PlayStations. Now, the manager had told us that they will sell only one system per household, as per the rules on the building, so it should have been as such. He states that he cannot do anything, and that they were cousins, or actually brothers, as the boy admitted he had lied to them already. So to make the sale, the manager locks the door behind them which leads me to the belief that he was paid off the make the transaction. I get that they only had 2, but, according to their policies, he should have done his job accordingly. That's not right, and the time spent waiting was stolen by the scalpers and the manager. My wife didn't even go inside, and, as she was leaving, she saw the boy selling the systems, both systems going into the man's truck while the boy left in a separate vehicle. The lack of professionalism at this store was astounding and the fact that they could have someone like that as a hired part of management is a disgrace to this company and he should be ashamed. With so much inventory being sold to bots and scammers because of Covid regulations making most sales online only, GameStop was the only option we had to try for a fair opportunity read more

This Gamestop just ruined a brand-new console purchase. What was supposed to be a good day is now an awful day. I just traded in a Switch Lite for a Switch OLED. The clerk helping us had confidently insisted that there was no need to worry about transferring data, and basically denied our request to let us transfer data to our new switch. We have now arrived home and our entire game data library has been wiped. The clerk who helped us actively thwarted our efforts to properly go about this because they were too lazy to take the time to verify if they were even correct or not. We called and tried to go do a data transfer, but that had almost instantly wiped our old switch. Now we have a new console, that we wanted to play our existing games on, and it's all gone. The employee also said on the phone that this is "not their fault" and even hung up on me while talking and not taking any ownership of their behavior or direct cause of the issue. I literally now have a console I don't want, and I can't get my old console back because all the saves are gone. This is unreal. read more

This Gamestop is one of the coolest game stores in the area. They have always been helpful and resourceful when it comes to games. I have reserved all my games here and always received them on time or even late when I forgot to pick them up. No hassles with them. At one time I had to buy another 360 because my original one burnt out. The price of their refurbished one was a good deal. Parking is a pain when this place shopping area is busy. Samantha needs to be reviewed - when I came in to get my ps4 replaced due too extremely loud fans which I bought a warranty. When I had temporarily placed my PS4 on the counter to purchase more games (just spent $350 on this ps4 from Gamestop) and which I get told that I have to place my ps4 in my car if I want to purchase any video games. When I ask why her reply in a degrading manner is that "well we need space" - the store is completely empty and the employees are sitting there doing nothing. Walked out of that damn store and just went to Walmart. Just lost $100 due to her. read more

First let me say I am not a gamer. I'm a mother of 2 sons so sometimes I have to go to Game Stop. In fact, I don't know anything about video games at all. My review is for the excellent customer service and knowledgeable, helpful staff. One of my sons is only 10, so we are careful to read and ask questions before we buy a game. Many times the employees have told us honestly about the games, for example, specific ways a game might be too violent for a younger child. I really appreciate that, even if it means we don't buy the game and leave the store with a pouting child. I have also observed the employees treating my teenager as an adult and respectfully.
