Was passing by Salinas during a road trip and stopped at this shopping center to go to Target. Noticed there was a Game Stop nearby and took a look. It's really hit or miss with product selection at the various locations. We actually found a FallOut New Vegas Xbox game we wanted to try out and also found this awesome Gamer Stitch plush. He's so cute with his headphones, game controller and tongue sticking out. There are a few Funko pop figures, some plushes and other collectibles besides the usual console games & accessories. The store was large and felt quite spacious. There was only one guy working at this location. Fortunately this was not a busy location. There were only 2 other customers in the store. They said they had sold out, but immediately found out that the store at Northridge Mall still had copies. Today we came in to return a gift card that was defective. I waited in line patiently. As we got to the front of the line the person being helped by the cashier forgot to grab something. So, as he walked away I stepped forward the cashier Ariana raised her voice and said "The transaction isn't finished yet!" As if she couldn't suspend the current transaction to help us. I personally witnessed her raise her voice at the customer in front of us. She raised her voice at him when asking to repeat his phone number. She was very inhospitable, and rude. We waited and we got a male cashier. We let him know that the card we had bought was defective. Although our transaction was being handled by the kind male cashier. The lady swooped in and raised her voice at us that they weren't going to refund the defective card to us because it had already been redeemed. I explained to her that the card was not redeemed because the numbers were not visible on the gift card we bought and was defective. So, she told us that we would have to message the company that makes the gift card. In all honesty I found her character to be hostile, unwelcoming and rude. I seriously recommend she find a job she enjoys because her energy is rubbing off on customers and making them feel uncomfortable. I'm just a paying customer that wanted a simple refund. Instead of empathizing or apologizing for the situation she gave attitude and was rude not only to me but other customers. I really do not think her service should be representative of this establishment. I think GameStop could do better at choosing it's employees. read more

So we went inside this Gamestop at Northridge Mall to pick up a game, Player Unknown's Battlegrounds or PUBG, and the manager(?) Adam, the guy wearing the white collared button up, was a complete douchebag to everyone in the store. And there was a crowd of people waiting for this game PUBG, since it was being officially released at 9pm and it's a popular game. So.. "Adam..." we in there with a friend and my girlfriend as well, 3 of us. The first thing I noticed was Adam's loud and obnoxious voice. He was "explaining" to 2 customers he was ringing up that they would get some kind of discount for having a promotional shopping bag, where the to-be-bought items inside the bag were eligible for a discount. He was very rude and offensive toward them. The entire store was quiet and we could all hear his loud voice. So those 2 people leave. Then he took a turn insulting every single customer waiting for this PUBG game's release. He went into detail about how the game is technically not even a real game (it's an unfinished game ported from PC to console), and saying things like, "who would pay $30 for an incomplete game?" Then he started talking about net neutrality being lost and all of us customers waiting to buy the game were going to have to pay more money to play PUBG. He made my girlfriend feel anxious. She has hypoglycemia and that's not good for her. So we're all standing around in a crowd waiting for Adam to sell us this game while he harasses us and insults us. Pretty freaking awesome. Then he said something like "okay let's get this over with" and started calling out people's names. As the customers with their preorders came to the counter to trade their preorder receipt for a copy of the game, he said to each of us "here you go, go home." "Go home." "Go home." Of the four GameStop locations I frequent in the area this store has the best selection of older games that include their original case and instruction booklet. I appreciate that they still carry a few PSP games with the original manual and case but their selection is unfortunately dwindling. The majority of the Nintendo DS game cases have been discarded, and the games are now just slipped into a small envelope. If you do purchase one of these loose DS games beware of any price stickers slapped on the back of the game itself as the residue can potentially get onto the connector pins of the Game Pak, rendering it unable to play. read more

I walked in briefly and Charlie (hope I spelled her name right) was so great at greeting me and giving me all the information I needed. I told her I was looking for a Segal genesis and she told me how I can get it through the store or online, the options with prices, the reasoning behind certain prices, other options that could meet my needs and more. the female manager here is a really rude.. doesnt want to help you let alone check their system to see of they have the item for you, her husband is also the manager at the other gamestop at the mall, which makes sense bcus they both have that rude attitude and dont want to help at all, just go on amazon to buy anything you need don't support these horrible company selling used games for $55 and i even found a figure on clearance for $24.97 when original price is $24.99... fire the managers and get customer service back read more

The guy with red hair and a red beard was very unprofessional with how he was dealing with me. I came in there with a PS4 controller needing it configured so that I could charge it via USB outlet. He plugged it into his tester computer and then I asked him numerous questions regarding the controller, which he totally avoided. Then he blamed my controller, saying there was a problem with the home button, which is bs because it's a brand new controller that I bought yesterday. I was then being direct with him (I wasn't being mad or raising my voice or anything), explaining that when you plug it into a PS4, there is an option to toggle USB charging mode through once the controller is connected to the station. He continued to tell me that he didn't know what I was talking about which is hard to believe since you work at Game Stop. Then I just kinda said "Are you just wanting me to buy this charging dock? Because I'm not buying it." He then said "No, I'm not trying to sell that to you. I don't make any commission off of that." But my point is that it's not about the commission or anything of that sort. It's about if you care enough to help me, which he clearly didn't. Then I thought of the idea to connect it to the PS4 that's right by the door to see if the controller could be configured quickly over there, but no of course we can't because that system is turned off right now. I'm just very dissatisfied with the way the whole situation was handled and it just wasn't fair. read more

I can't even say how much i dislike this GameStop. I barely ever go in there, but when i do they are all extremely rude and unhelpful. They always make fun of every game i and the other customers there buy and say they 'suck', and that i shouldn't buy it. They are all very unprofessional and rude. You shouldn't talk to your customers like that, and you certainly shouldn't be telling them not to buy something from your store! I avoid this gamestop every chance i get and i would rather make the drive to the one on s main street. read more

I traded in a few things the other day since they were having a special on trade-ins. Beforehand, I checked the web site for prices and called ahead to confirm. When I got there, the clerk, Zach, offered noticeably lower trade-in values than what the web site had given me. When I inquired about it, he said that the web site values were "only an estimate." The woman who was also at the desk echoed his answer as if trying to justify the price change. I called GameStop headquarters afterwards and they said that that is not how things work. The GameStop across the street at Northridge actually uses the prices that the web site provides. If you are going to do any trading, go there instead. read more
