I'm so used to thinking gamestop is evil that when I came in here I forgot that there are store employees that want to take care of their customers. The guy that was helping me out (tall guy) was great and patient in helping me pick out a good refurbished DS lite. He also helped me and my girlfriend find some good budget buys as well. The only reason I made a Yelp was to compliment and recognize this gamestop(as well as other places) I don't get why so many gamers hate on gamestop. They always said that the employees are rude,they get ripped off, and get low quality used games. But from my point of view....they are DEAD WRONG. I went to this gamestop to sell some old GBA games in order to get a new xbox game. I was quite surprised at the amount of money i got from selling those GBA games. My brother and I use to be hardcore GBA players when we were kids and therefore,we had a lot of GBA games to sell. The total amount we got for all of our GBA games(we decided to sell 14)was $22(in store credit).I was in deed surprised. Most of those so-called gamers said you can only get $10 but they're wrong. So didn't get ripped off like people would say,high score for that. Now about the staff.This also contradicts what the other gamers say.The staff there was nice, pretty funny,and did not pressure us at all when he offered us the Power Up rewards thing. It was easy to talk to them and get a pretty decent deal. The store itself is pretty small, but there's a somewhat huge variety of games to choose from. Overall, this is a good gamestop to go to. The staff there is nice, pretty good values(as far as i know) and a good variety of old and new games alike. So if you live around here, this a good gamestop to stop by for trading in games and buying new games. read more

I came by this branch to hopefully grab a few games. After looking around and finally getting the games I wanted, I came up to the counter. I asked the guy if they had an earlier edition of the game available, and he proceeded to answer my question with a condoscending tone as if I didn't know what I was talking about. This Gamestop wasn't helpful at all. It was Christmas time and I was looking for a Wii. First off, no one greeted me when I came in. They just looked at me and looked back down. I looked around the Wii section because I was new toWii and didn't know what games to get. I looked for 15 minutes and not once did either of the 2 gentlemen ask if I needed help. I finally went to the counter and asked if they had any Wiis in stock. The guy at the counter didn't really know, so he asked the guy sitting on the floor working on price tags or something. The guy just gave me his Wii spiel about not having any and there's no waiting list and first come first serve, blah blah blah. Look, I understand that tons of people ask you about the Wii everyday, but come on now. The other guys at the other Gamestops or EBGames put up with the same stuff, but they never treated me this way. read more

The staff here is really polite and helpful. They also know a lot about video games, which doesn't seem to be the norm at other Gamestop locations. One time I walked in and there was only one guy working. He was able to assist customers with questions, ring people up at the register, and sign them up for Gamespot memberships. Now that's what I call great juggling! Good customer, probably the best I've had in a while from at least a Game Stop. The staff were super knowledgeable about their products and conducting in multitasking while helping a customer and answering my question. I got in and I got quickly and easily. I wasn't pressured to purchase anything extra and all I got was smiles and thank yous. The line moved quickly and all the demos at the time were working. The location is easy to find and the stock is stocked! From the used games to game consoles, to the newest games and special editions, to preorders and other necessary gaming products, Game Stop is that one shop stop. They do have a rewards/members program that's free for customers to sign up. Most importantly, THEY ANSWER THE PHONE WHEN YOU CALL. read more

Those who work at this location provide great customer service and are very helpful. The store manager is really awesome as well, the best customer service I've seen in a long time. I am just blown away by the level of customer service at this Gamestop. Shaheen is amazing. I had to buy a new 3ds, because mine had some water damage. He recommended a place that could fix it for me, but the price would be pretty close to just buying a new one at that point ($140 vs $160) so I decided on a whim to buy a new one, but I wanted to have it ready because I was going to disneyland in the morning. Well it was already almost closing time for them, but he offered to transfer my data to my new system no matter how long it took. They have really bad wifi... so it took almost an hour, but he let us stay after closing and had a pleasant attitude the whole time. If it was me I probably would have been a little put out that I had to stay late.. haha. He was great, and has been great every time we go. I've found my new Gamestop home :D read more

I am typically not a fan of video game stores, especially this chain. I don't really care too much for how small the stores are and how hard it can be to find things. BUT, this store really does have good customer service. I've been in here many times and it seems like there is always someone there that can answer all my questions. They actually seem like adults, which is not the case at many other stores. And their selection is pretty good of used and new games, although sometimes you have to ask for the games, since they are behind the desk. I have a PS3 and a Wii, but I have not looked at their selection of XBOX 360 games and cannot comment on that. read more

This store looks great. They have a lot of games in stock. Most of the staff are smart mouthed kids that should have been slapped in the mouth by their parents. Very rude! I have only had 1 good experience at this store, all other times I got some smart ass answer by some punk kid. I have been to several of the GameStop stores in the Bay Area and, in my opinion, this is the best one. The staff members are attentive and knows about the products they sell. This one gets five stars especially in comparison to other GameStop stores in the Bay Area, including one in Rivermark that is just abysmal. read more

This store had the rudest young clerks I have ever encountered. My husband and I are in our 50's and were there to buy a recharger cord for the latest Gameboy. A clerk at Target (in the same strip mall) where we had just bought the new Nintendo 3DS.XL suggested we buy the cord at Gamestop because they did not have any left. We didn't go to Gamestop originally because we looked it up on the internet that Gamestop was out of the system we were looking for. When we got to Gamestop there were two clerks there, one was helping three young people, two male one female, the other just started helping someone in line. Besides us and the people being helped there were a young couple who never got in line while we were there. They had what we needed, we found it ourselves. They also had several display boxes of the system we just bought at Target for a cheaper price so we decided to get it and return the other we had just bought. I got in line. The clerk helping the three people was still helping them, talking to them in a friendly way and asking them if they had a Gamestop card after their purchase and thanking them for bringing in some games. The second clerk started puttering around behind the register area then popped out from behind the counter to randomly help a guy who had walked in a little while ago, after us, but never actually asked for help. This second clerk guy came back to the register area but continued to ignore us. Meanwhile as the first clerk looked like he might be finally able to let his new best friends/customers go, two more clerks showed up behind the counter, a guy and a girl (the girl had a couple of sodas she had come in with. I'm thinking with all these employees behind the counter I will finally get processed, but no, these young people decide they must talk for a while because why else would they be there? To help people? Nope. Finally "working clerk" is done and we step up to the counter. I'm happy I will finally get helped. He lets me ramble on for a sentence before he stops me and says we'll have to wait because he has to process a bunch of stuff behind the counter. We either looked at him incredulously or maybe he finally realized there were four clerks not helping us because as he starts to turn away he does, what can only be described as an after thought, decides to ask the new guy clerk to help us. OK fine, we wait for new guy to punch in a plethora of (numbers?) to check into the register. Fine, next he has to go in the back to get the Nintendo we want to buy. Fine. He comes back and says they don't have any left. OK, not too much of a problem we had already bought one. I tell the clerk that he better take the boxes down because it makes it look like they have the Gameboys. He then tells me with a straight face that they have to keep the boxes up, they are the display boxes. So either the store policy is stupid or he is. The clerk never asks me if I had a Gamestop card, which I do, but it doesn't matter because I'll never go there again. read more

I bought two cards this past Saturday (9/20/2014) at this location. One for the PSN and one for the Wii. Now I never have gotten one for the Wii and I asked the guy that worked there if that card I had in my hand worked on the Wii. His response, "oh yeah it works on all Nintendo platforms". Cool I bought one for 10 bucks of Wii points. Go home to redeem and I get an error code which was that servers were down. I try again on Sunday. Same thing. I call Nintendo support and the guy tells me that the card I was sold only works on Wii U and 3DS and to return to store. I call gamestop, the one where I purchased it and let the guy know. His response, "I'm sorry you were misinformed about that product but our policy does not let us accept returns or refunds on those items". Me: Even though your employee messed up and sold me a card I cannot use, you cannot refund me?! Him:"I'm sorry you were misinformed about that product but our policy does not let us accept returns or refunds on those items". I have shopped here for years dropping money like crazy at this location in particular. Thanks to this douche I will stop supporting not just this Gamestop but all Gamestop stores. In the end Nintendo was able to do what Gamestop could not and add the points to my Wii account. Its a shame that specialty shops like these are managed by kids with no business sense and snot nosed at that! read more

Not a big fan of Gamestop but this one is actually pretty decent. The staff is actually pretty helpful and attentive. There selection is decent and the prices are ok, some of the used games are way overpriced. Still they carry more than most department stores like Target, Walmart, etc. A good option if your in the area. read more

I had to take back my used playstation 2 that crapped out after just 3 weeks. I was told they do not have any refurbished ones but they do have a used one to exchange. Ok, whats the difference? Refurbished has been cleaned and tested, the used one just tested. Ok, so I take the "used" one home after being assured that it has been tested. I set it up at home and......broken. Clearly no testing was done at all. This gamestop sold me a broken gamecube as well. I took the ps2 back to a different gamestop. I was told at that store that SOMETIMES the used game machines get tested but there isnt always time. I thanked him for his honesty and took home my ps2. Plugged it in and it works! read more

I bought a Nintendo DS just cause it looked like fun. i have never been much of a "gamer" but I do love the DS. I was actully the type that played Pong, PacMan, and Space Invaders. Asteroids was a step up for me. HA! This GameStop is located in the San Jose Marketplace which has a Target, Cost Plus, PetSmart, etc. My daughter loves to go in here and play the games. The Wii, the Playstation, and the DS. They have the demos set up. This is a great place to get new and used stuff. You can do trade-ins here too. They don't give that much for the trade ins but it's better than nothin. When there is a hot new release coming out, you can put money down and be insured you'll get a copy when it comes out. I love that. The other great thing about this store in particular......Andrew, the manager, is a really nice guy and the store always looks in order! read more

Today, we made a trade-in at this GameStop location at the San Jose Marketplace Plaza. We have been to this location many times before for the past 3 years, but our service today was exceptionally memorable. Shaheen was the associate that assisted us with our trade-in, and not only was he extremely helpful and polite but he also tried to get the most value out of our trade-in for us. He told us that since we were trading in 2 items, we can 20% more extra-credit if we purchased something in the store. So, we looked around for a game. We brought up Halo 3 (used) to the register. He looked for the disc and found 6 of them. He looked through all 6 of them to find the one with the least scratches. He said he wanted us to look at the discs as well, so we can choose the one we wanted. Unfortunately, most of them were pretty beat up so he offered other games for the XBOX 360 and the Wii systems that we have. He also said we can hold on to the credit, but wanted us to get the most out of our trade-in today. We really appreciated the fact that he gave us choices and did not push us to get something then and there. Shaheen was very polite, once again, and one of the nicest employees we've ever encountered at the various GameStop locations that we have been to throughout the Bay Area. read more

The guys here tend to be knowledgeable on the games, and not too pushy about getting you to do a pre-order. I tend to be a big browser of Game Stops, and every once in awhile I'll do their buy 2 get 1 free used games deals. I don't like it when people are following me around or trying to sell me the hottest title, and you won't find that here. Their selection isn't the biggest, but I find more JRPG's here than other stores. It lacks sports games, but if that's not your deal, it's no problem. read more

I love this gamestop, I actually like all gamestops, but I have been shopping from this gamestop for over 5 years, the workers are very friendly and know what they are talking about, they are constantly trying to help you and figure out what you are looking for, however I went there to buy a controller once, they had a discount of 30$ special going on, and the guy kept on insisting that it was actually 49.99, and after I walked to the promotional display box and brought it over to him, he switched the price, so watch out for new workers, they might not know what they are talking about, just ask for a manager or another workers help. read more

The only reason I buy hard copies of games is because of this store. They have midnight releases of games and also host game events with music, food, and Raffles. I love coming to gamestop. Customer service is usually very great at every location. Not this one. I live up North, but since school is back in session I'm back out here for school. Today was the last day to return my purchase. I was asked multiple times why I was returning my merchandise. I simply just changed my mind. One employee was trying to figure out if it was passed 30 days and turned to another employee and eyeing for assistance. Once again, I was asked why I was returning the product. I explained..then I was asked a other question that just rubbed me the wrong way. "Is there a reason why your returning this all the way to San Jose?" What is this? Why must I be asked this question? Just because I bought something from a different gamestop, I can't return it at another game stop? Do people not travel? Can people not return where ever most convenient? I don't like the attitude here, no customer service. At least the young girl was a tad bit nicer. read more

I have been a VERY LOYAL customer of yours for YEARS... I went to my very first midnight launch this evening at the San Jose, CA store in the Coleman center for Prototype 2. I was told about the game from the store manager and he got me very excited about the title. I have never been to a midnight launch as midnight on a Monday evening is very late for me as I work early in the morning. I have to admit I am a kid at heart and became increasingly excited about it's release so I sucked it up and made the trip to the store. I left my home which is 10 minutes away at 11:59, thinking I would miss the rush at the beginning and be able to just pick it up. I arrived at the store at 12:10. the store was locked and there were employees inside blaring music so loud that it took me 2 minutes to get their attention as I banged on the door... I was greeted by the manager and he told me that the register was closed and there was nothing he could do for me. I told him that it was only 10 minutes past midnight and that I was very excited to play the game... he apologized and said that I could not get the game i PRE-PAID FOR.... I asked if I could give him my reciept that proved I pre-paid for the game and he told me I should have gotten there at 12:01 to avoid this in the future..... This was my first and only midnight launch I will ever do... read more

All gamestops are the same, the only thing that gamestop is good for is when you break out of the video game phase and while you haven't sold your consoles, you can get those games you wanted 3 years ago at rock bottom prices and provide around a month or less of entertainment. This particular gamestop is a-ok, they got plenty of used games, but virtually no used accessories. So the membership card I got around 4 months ago is pretty much worthless. One particular time I came here, a short chubs guy, Josh, Joshu( ?) was particularly pushy about getting a preorder out of me, and wasn't very knowledgeable about the accessories I was looking for - wireless receiver for X360 controllers use on PC. He never heard of those, and assured me those were never made by Microsoft. Also asked him if there were any USB on stock but said he didn't know if they would work, and before I purchased the controller, I asked about the return policy, he said, 14 days, and to clarify I said " new accessories, 14 days to return it ? even if i open it ?" he asserted positively. As I was being ringed up for my stuff he went on about how C.O.D. Black Ops will be the biggest game of the year, with a "I couldn't give a f*ck of any kind about that" face, I asserted I didn't need to preorder any game, and especially wasn't interested in repetitive games. He asked me what kind of games I liked and looked up a list on the computer about games of my interest to pre order, but didn't get any out of me. I finally completed my transaction and stepped out. Read the receipt and it read that accessories can only be exchanged for same items within 14 day and you can figure out the rest of the return policy. Lucky for that fool I found a driver to install on my P.C. before I opened the controller, so I kept it. I don't play games anymore so I only come here to buy used games for my brother. read more

I went here to get some trade in PUR credit transferred over to a gift card. It just so happened that I came in during lunch time which was pretty busy. There was only one person running the store at the time, I believe he was the manager, sorry I forgot your name. But he did a pretty good job of multi tasking, helping customers while also being on hold/talking to customer service on the phone to get my credit transferred. The process took like 30-40 minutes which I was completely understanding of having worked in retail and customer service before. Very professional kept me informed of what was going on, also tossed me a free shirt for my time afterwards. I was satisfied that the process was completed and getting a free shirt was the cherry on top. I thought that was pretty cool and at least acknowledged that it was a lengthy process even though I had no real complaints about it. It's not my normal store since it's far from my house but if I was in the area I wouldn't mind stopping by. read more

When me and my girlfriend went to try to get a nintendo DS lite a young man named John was kind of enough to look at each used nintendo DS lite to make sure we got the best one possible, while at the same time making sure the hand held can read games and worked. Great location for a Gamestop, and great staff like John who provided excellent customer service. read more
