Let's get the bad out of the way first. This store is packed every time I go. You have to navigate your way around the crowd to get close to the items you want to see. There's often a queue to get in due to overcrowding. But that's Valley Fair as a whole these days. That said, the customer service is top notch. I'm always greeted warmly and the employees are very knowledgeable about their products. It's clear they employ LEGO fans, not just those people looking for a job. It is also very well-staffed. Despite all the people coming in and out and the throngs of kids running around and playing with the samples, the floor remains remarkably clear of Legos. Even the Pick a Brick section is clear and tidy. It is hard to knock a LEGO store on prices as it seems LEGO corporate sets very hard lines on pricing and discounts (few and far between). But everything is clearly marked and in line with Amazon and other retailers. If you're brave enough to venture to Valley Fair, and lucky enough to score a parking spot, a visit to the LEGO store is well worth it especially if you've got kids in tow. read more

I feel like The Lego store at Valleyfair Mall has bigger selection that other Lego stores around the area. My family likes coming to this store even with the crazy parking situation at the mall. We came in on a very busy day, and the store was packed. There were only a few staff members on the floor and they were trying their best to help everyone. We knew what we wanted to get but the line was still pretty long for purchasing. When we got to the front, the cashier was still friendly, apologized for the long wait, and made sure we got everything we needed. The even with that many people in the store, the shelves still had sets and legos on display but they were going fast. Buying legos are the legos store is a good value since you can build up points if you're a registered member and the price is the same as other stores. Eventually as we were leaving, a staff member was able to gate the customers into the store so that it's not so crowded. The store was still organized and staff was still friendly when we left. Man this place must make SO much money. It's always packed on weekends. Store isn't huge, but there is plenty of stuff out and on display. So many different genres of Legos, and a section for Duplos. They have miscellaneous single lego pieces on the back wall that you can buy. They have individual lego figurines you can buy--3 for $9.99. You can't customize by mixing and matching accessories and clothes, unfortunately. A helpful employee told me there is only one store in the Bay Area where you can have full customization. My family is just crazy about LEGOs. Since my son was about 5, he's been hooked on them and we all have enjoyed building the model kits. We have just about every set created over the last five years. We have ALL of the NASA kits (my wife and I love these), most of the Star Wars kits including the Death Star, the Imperial Star Destroyer, all of the Millennium Falcon kits and many others. We also have many of the other themed kits and many of the Technics kits including the blue Bugatti from 2020. What we haven't liked is the Insider program because it seemed like we NEVER received benefits to being members. Now for why this encounter went so well. When we went to check out, Carlos asked if we were Insiders. I said we are, but I've never felt any benefit from the program, so it didn't matter to me if he processed the sale using it or not. That's when everything got crazy!!! Carlos asked for my email address used on the account. He looked it up and saw two things. First, we had a ton of points. $450 worth to be exact. AND...we hadn't finished registering. That is why we never saw the benefit. He helped me finish registering. BY THE WAY...in seven years of being a member of their loyalty program, not one single other person bothered to look or help us finish registering. And, I said that line about being members EVERY TIME we checked out somewhere. Anyway...back to he helped us finish registering. At the end of the day, my son got two amazing new sets and they were FREE!!! He even said, "Dad, thanks for buying all of those other LEGO sets so I could get these for free." A sweet spot in Westfield! Absolutely love their 90th anniversary activities. You can spin the wheel and design something based on the spin. They do not enforce the rules (2-4 minutes I believe?), but you can definitely try to build a cool robot within that time, and then keep building. They always have a solid selection of items for children and adults alike. Employees are all nice and willing to help if you have any questions. read more

IMHO - Covid Edition Me, go into the Lego store? Nah. What lured me in yesterday was the window display of a Harry Potter village. I'm not a HP fan but I know a few in my family... So in I went. Jarrod greeted us from afar, "friendly-yelling" the Covid protocols while we were in the store. (Personally I couldn't understand what he was saying behind his Lego face mask, but got the gist.) Not only do they allow a limited amount of customers in the store, they have the usual plastic partitions between you and the cashier, plus hand sanitizers. Jarrod was most talkative, sharing about the Harry Potter collection that I was looking at. Something caught my eye, and he opened the display case to demonstrate the moving mechanics of it. This particular item when purchased also came with a free gift, HP-related. Since it's October, I was in Christmas shopping mode, and decided to buy it, pending what the return policy was. This store has come in clutch multiple times. I was able to score the back of the future set and a few others. They do not have reservations on items so you better gogogogo when sets are released. To their credit during the start of the pandemic they were super diligent about cleanliness, amount of people in the store and calling people back (I left messages asking about certain sets and I got a response each time the next business day). In store greeter is helpful about whether sets are in store and alternatives or suggestions. read more

From the moment I stepped into the store until I checked out and left, every single staff was very friendly at the Valley Fair LEGO store. Every one of them were very attentive and wore a big smile. Even tho everyone was wearing mask, you can still tell if someone is happy or smiling by looking at their eyes. I would like to mention, Bee (I believe that's her name), who helped me check out that she was really friendly and approachable. Although I was just buying one set, she would still spend time to chat and build a rapport with her customer. The checkout experience plus the staff at the door farewelling me created a pleasant ending for my visit. The only opportunity I would like to raise is that the store was a bit warm yesterday. Not sure if it is because too many people were there or if the AC wasn't working. Otherwise, would like to stay longer and give this overall experience a 5/5. So this is the worse customer service I've ever experienced at a Lego Store. Called because they have an item that's currently in stock, asked to see if they could hold it since I'm coming all the way from Sacramento... they said no! I asked if they do curbside pick up.. they said no! I asked if I could pay for it and show ID when I get there ( They've done this in the past btw, including curbside when we were in the middle of COVID a few months back ) yes you've guessed it... they said no! It's amazing that in a middle of a global pandemic, people are willing to meet you more than half way to purchase an item and you guys refuse to service paying customers, it's truly sad. I have been playing, collecting and purchasing LEGO's since forever. And this experience might change all that. Lego needs to do better! read more

Admittedly it took way too long to get into store but they were closed for 3 months and LEGO.com was sold out of so many things it was worth the wait. My oldest earned the Friends "Central Perk" set as part of her home school reward. When we finally got in the shelf was empty, my heart skipped for a second because I thought they were out but they had some in the back. We got in and out quickly and the new COVID procedures were really well thought out and nicely executed. Totally worth the wait. More stores should definitely mirror their protocols. Cute Lego store but it's not that big. My kids always have a good time playing with the Legos. I still find that Amazon has better prices on some of the products, but for the newest Legos, the store is the way to go. You can purchase online but have to pay for shipping unless you spend over $75 for free shipping. Overall, cool place if you want to splurge and buy blocks you need. There's 2 different bucket size for kids to fill as many Legos as they want at 2 different price points. Sign up for the VIP Lego to earn points but remember that they expire after 2 years after points have been earned. read more

The logos now are so much better & cooler than the basic Lego blocks I had growing up. This store is so cool though. My Lego's were all square blocks of various sizes. Now they have all kinds of shapes and styles to make anything and everything. There was a Simpson, Harry Potter and all kinds of Star Wars kits. They had stuff for little kids, boys, and girls of pretty much any age. You can buy mixed boxes of Lego's, premade kits, or individual pieces if you really wanted too. They had a bin with various pieces that allowed you to make your own Lego people. You can get a three pack of Lego figures you make for $10 (a little pricy but not to bad). My favorite kit/set I saw was a Star Wars Death Star Kit, but at $400 I'll pass. The staff was great. Everyone was very friendly and very helpful. Offering to help in anyway, including an offer to pull stuff off the top shelf so I could look more closely if I wanted. The only thing wrong with Lego's and the Lego store is the price. Like I said $10 for 3 figures that were only a few pieces each. But Lego's have always been on the pricy side. If I had someone at home who played with Lego's I would most like buy them. read more

Very friendly and helpful staff! I came here looking for black hair for my daughter's Lego characters. We got her the female Research Institute set that came with a blonde, brunette and a redhead I'm fairly certain that there are more people with black hair on earth than any other color, but Lego fails to include black haired people in most of their sets. Not only that, there is a very limited quantity of black hair styles available! Get it together Lego. Anyway, lack of diversity and representation aside, the store itself is clean, bright, and organized. The employees went digging through their back room for any black hair pieces they could find. I won't let my disappointment in the company negatively impact my review of the store itself. I will be back for more female STEM sets (with black hair of course)! read more

The Lego store is one on the best things that can happen to a person who loves legos. I tend to like Legos for toys for children because they are durable, there are endless possibilities in what you can build and they have a good resale value (just check ebay for used legos). You can't do that with action figures or dolls and if you can you don't get much back. One of the cool features about the Lego store is the pick-a-brick wall, which allows you to buy individual bricks and other lego pieces. To fill a small cup costs $7.95 and to fill the larger cup is $14.95. If you want to put in the most lego pieces you possibly can, then start filling the cup with the smallest pieces at the bottom and then adding lego bricks. Don't just toss the bricks in. I've learned that by snapping the bricks together and then placing them in allows you to put more in. Is the $7.95 & $14.95 pick-a-brick a good value? That answer is dependent on what you think. Do you like having new pieces? Do you need specific pieces that is available at the wall? Then yes. If you don't mind used legos (which you should always wash) then you check out eBay for lego lots. You can get 100 misc. pieces of lego for $10 shipped and that's considered a good deal. I've noticed that ALL Lego stores have different pieces at the pick-a-brick wall. The store in San Mateo has a better variety and the store in Lego Land and Orlando has the most pieces. The prices on Lego at this or any other Lego store is definitely cheaper than TRU, Target and Walmart. Especially the Star Wars sets, but then again Lego makes sets that are specifically made for TRU, Target or Walmart. Just look out for the difference with similar items. Another cool thing about the Lego store is that they have a 'Loyalty Program', which allows you to get a Lego card stamped for every $25 purchase. After a certain amount of stamps you get a $10 certificate and then a $20. If you or someone you know likes playing with Legos, then this store will not disappoint in selection. Keep in mind, the online store at Lego.com will obviously have items that are not available in-store. Buy a Lego membership too, if you're a fan. You'll get monthly magazines, a ticket to Lego Land, 2 $5 gift cards for the lego.com store and a new Lego set shipped to you every 2 months. Once you buy one Lego, you'll want another... read more
