A good toy store when looking for gifts. Associates are super friendly and very knowledgeable about all their in store inventory. Prices are a bit higher than most toy stores but with the closing of Toys R Us, this place surely has seen an increase in overall sales. Located near the children's play area, it is ideal. Amazing toy store that I've always enjoyed browsing whenever I'm in the area. I always find amazing treasures among their beautiful selection of products. But what really brought me here to finally submit a review is their handling of our current trying times with covid-19. I've placed two orders over the last two weeks, for Easter basket supplies for my son and puzzles for myself. Both times I have spoken with someone at the store over the phone and they were extremely friendly and helpful and my orders have been shipped off within a matter of hours! I truly appreciate the efforts and care they have provided, they've gone above and beyond expectation. Will be a loyal customer for many years to come, and cannot wait to be back in the store with my son (hopefully) very soon. THANK YOU! read more

Gepetto's is our favorite toy store! The UTC location is convenient to stop by and grab a gift for one of the many birthday parties that my daughter gets invited to. They have something for everyone! Great selection of games and the sweet employees will even tell you their favorites! Incredible selection of unique plushies by Jelly Cat and Douglas. My daughter loves puzzles and they are well stocked. Fun seasonal things for stocking staffers, Easter Baskets- whatever you need! Geppetto's is a short stroll from Red Robin in the Westfield UTC mall. It's a small store, and staff doesn't offer to help unless you ask. Avoid it near Christmas when it gets jammed with people. But it's relaxing on summer weekdays. It's small enough so you won't lose your precious kid, but don't let her wander out the front door! I haven't compared their prices with target or Amazon. But my 5-year-old granddaughter is a girlie girl, and she likes an outing to the Westfield UTC mall with me. Many toys at Gepetto's are arranged at her eye level, so she's able to enjoy browsing through the toys to make her own choice. Red Robin is a kid-friendly place for lunch just a short stroll from Gepetto's. There's also a mini playground in the mall for younger kids, and several stores with children's clothes. Gepetto's is kept neat and orderly, and they have a decent selection of Calico Critters of Cloverleaf Corners, if your child is into them. They are miniature animal families for ages 3 and up. The best thing about Gepetto's is simply its location in a cool mall! read more

If I were to describe this location in one word it would be "Desolate". I visited multiple locations in San Diego before and all have been filled with warm and welcoming staff. Upon arriving at this location on Oct 14th the air was filled with an impolite and unpleasant feeling. Before the staff could greet me, I did not feel welcomed. The staff appeared to be 3 young adults who all had unpleasant looks on their faces as if they were forced to work there or all had some unfortunate situation occur not too long ago( I understand people have bad days, but this was like walking into a room of 4.0 GPA students who failed their finals). While walking around you could hear them sassing each other about what they are doing and ignored or hid from new customers at any cost. Not only were they taking up space with a giant ladder the add stock (which should be done before they open, not at 2pm) they refused to move out of aisles that I wanted to look down. I asked the male that was working if they had alternative sizes of an item they had in stock. He couldn't help but to announce with anguish and frustration that the inventory system is terrible when they reorder and refused to provide a date of when they should obtain a shipment. When he told me to go to another location (which he admitted to not knowing where another one was) he seemed to cheer up with his tone and a smile as I started to leave. There was another mother in the store at the time I was and appeared similarly uncomfortable. She tried getting her kids to leave and seemed successful after the male worker gave several rude looks at her kids. Cute store, terrible staff. **Update: I contacted the company on this, the owner responded that the workers experienced a "uncomfortable security incident ". I am not sure how true this is due to the recurring reviews on negativity occurring. However I updated review to 2 stars for owner reaching out to me. read more

At my RA doctors request, I went to Geppetto's at UTC. My doctor recommended that I get Silly Putty for use in strengthening my hands. He stated that it works all of the muscles in the hand, not just some, as a rubber ball would. At the store, I asked a sales lady how full these containers were since they were sealed and not see through. She immediately stated that they were full, not I'm not sure. I purchased six. When I returned home, I opened one to find it only 25% full. Two days later I returned to the store asking for 18 more at no charge. I explained that by asking, I should have been told the truth. The salesperson lied, pretending to KNOW that they were full, leading me to believe her. She had no good answer to my complaint, but her supervisor stated that it was human error. That's an answer straight out of the "excuse manual". I ended up debating the next higher up, Brian. He called in the evening. He finally agreed to send my money back in the form of a check, which he did. He also recommended not shopping at Geppetto's in the future. Yeah, why would he want someone coming back that isn't likely to have the wool pulled over their eyes? He'd prefer all of his customers just go along with his scams. I could go on, but that's the gist of it. Shop there at your own expectations of disappointment. He basically meant, catch us if you can, and if you do, we don't want you as a customer any longer. read more

I came into the shop today to purchase a gift for my nephews birthday. I came in quite unsure of the exact gift I wanted, but Rachel was able to help me decide which gift would be best for him. She and the other store employees were very kind and attentive to my requests. They wrapped the present and tied a ribbon on it before I left free of charge. I've been to many toy stores over the years and this one is definitely the best. It is very well organized and easy to browse. There are hardly no stores to find unique gifts for kids of all ages. I stopped at the mall looking for a gift for the child of a friend of mine who has lots of relatives and therefore lots of everything. While wandering I made my way into Geppettos. The store was clean, a few kids were playing with some of the toys, and a salesperson asked me what I was looking for. I told them a little bit about the boy and they guided me to a reasonably priced unique brain teaser of a game. I told them I was on my way to the party and needed a gift bag, instead they gave me my gift all wrapped up. It was great! read more

It was Saturday, 12/28 @ 1pm, my wife and I were looking for legos for my niece. When we walked in no one greeted us welcome like the other stores at the mall. We walked around looking but no one approached us and asked if we needed help or had questions. Yes there are people working here, I see them but no one is tending to the customers. The workers were busy chatting, it wasn't about work. Needless to say we found what we were looking for. It was up high on a shelve and I had to reach, move other boxes to get the item we wanted. There were two sales associates right by me talking, none offered to help (keep in mind the item was on the very top shelve and had to reach for) and it is a safety issue, should be an employee getting the item for us. Once we got the the item we had to break the employee's conversation to ask a question. They were quick to respond. Not so personable and friendly. We left and went across to The LEGO Store. Poor customer service and poor communication. It's not only on the employees but a function of leadership. It's says a lot about the company. read more

On Monday 9/16 before leaving San Diego to go back home, we stopped by Geppetto's around 11am & were the only people in the store. There was an employee around the age of 55-65 in the cashier area that noticed us walking in and she looked away and decided to not acknowledge my family & I. Shortly after more customers walked in and she then said good morning to them. I decided to be the bigger person and say "Good Morning" to her she said good morning under her breath and looked away. I noticed everyone in the store was white and and we are American but not of white complexion so I don't know if it was a race/color thing, but not once did she ask if we needed help. She did however help the other white guest that were walking around not buying anything. We ended up buying 3 books, a plush toy an LOL doll and these 2 little toy story toys. While she rung us up she did not smile or ask if we found everything we were looking for. To be completely honest I was the most excited out of everyone in my family to go to Geppetto's and I went with the intent of buying my 3 kids whatever they wanted and due to the not welcoming vibe I felt rushed to get my items and leave. For a toy store the vibe was unfriendly and EVERYTHING they sell you can get on Amazon or Target. The excitement I had going in was destroyed by the racist staff at this location. This store is really small, there's not much room to walk around when it's a bit crowded. The toys are better than the usual ones you find at the other stores but are a bit pricey.
