I've been here twice now and the first time I went - easy 5/5 experience. The service and all the food was top tier. I was ready to declare Ganko Ittetsu the best ramen in the South Shore. Second time I went... easily a 2/5 experience, complete 180 from the first time. Waited 30 minute for a bowl of lukewarm and bland tsukumen. Server never checked on me once and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Overall, super disappointed. When this place is good, it's incredible. When it's bad, it's mediocre.

Happy that there's a location closer to me than having to go to Brookline! Food was pretty flavorful on the heavy side but tolerable for my buds. Service was fast and friendly staff. Got there when it first opened so no wait! Clean and spacious table and bar.

The restaurant has amble seatings and friendly staff. We came late at night so the place wasn't not as packed. Ganko's ramen broth is on the thick side if you're into that. I like their apps and drinks. I'm surprised a ramen also serve alcohol. They have a good selection of beers and other booze. I'd come back to eat more fried octopus and try other type of ramen. I'm glad we have this type of ramen place in the south shore.

Had been to the Brookline location before and glad this Braintree location opened. My partner and I got fried octopus, tori-shio ramen, and gankara miso ramen - TASTE: 4/5 - highlights included the octopus' seasoning and chili peppers, tori-shio's classic chicken stock, and gankara miso's satisfyingly spicy paste w ground pork TEXTURE: 4/5 - the octopus was perfectly fried, and enjoyed the noodles in the ramen PRICE: 4/5 - ramen bowls were ~$18 and total came to $56 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - satisfied for dinner SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 5:30pm on a Friday and only a few tables were occupied. Our waitress was super helpful w recommendations, and food started coming out 5min after ordering ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - modern space w large colorful murals. Some of the tables have tighter spacing, but the location is still bigger and roomier than Brookline's PARKING: 5/5 - plenty of parking in the plaza's parking lot

Now we love the original location out in Brookline, has the cozy ambiance and feel. Not many tables but inside the little plaza. They have no opened a new location in Braintree !!! So much closer to home. Spacious, accommodates more people and clean! Now GPS brought us to the plaza, but like the lady said, we thought we got played haha because they don't have an actual sign up yet, but the door has a small "GANKO" name above the door number. Free parking. Staff were really nice. Quality i feel is consistent with the original! Love their noodz, has a nice chew to it, broth was flavorful, I think i like Tora's tantan broth a bit more but ganko noodles is better! This'll be my ramen spot locally and I'm happy about it haha! Now the karage, this my favorite karage at the original especially! The tendies seemed a bit smaller / less crunchy than the Brookline location but could have just been the selection we had this time. Still juicy and crispy. (Some of the pieces gave me Popeyes vibe haha). The egg was cooked well, everything melded well together. Finished our bowls in full, and couldn't finish the last bit of karage. Definitely left with a full tummy, in a good mood!

This small ramen spot has a really cool vibe with its bright red decor and unique lighting. The spot is cozy and while there was a 20 minute wait, we actually waited about 15 min and were seated promptly. The service was friendly and attentive. The ramen itself was definitely different from what I'm used to. I can't say it was my favorite, but I appreciate that it seemed authentic. They had pork, vegetarian and pescatarian options only. Is that a ramen thing? No beef or chicken? I tried the Tan Tan ramen and Kara-age chicken ( thigh). The ramen was creamy and nutty and not as spicy as I had liked it to be. 3/5 for the ramen. The beer selection was awesome ! I tried something new and absolutely loved it. The guava cider was delish and the Blue comet was bomb. Overall, a decent experience. I'd definitely come back to try some of their other offerings and maybe expand my ramen horizons a bit.

Delicious ramen, much bigger space than their Brookline one. Noodles, meat and eggs cooked to perfection and broth is very hearty as always! Service was quick. The area looks abandoned on the outside but tons of free parking in the plaza, and the inside decor looks great!

The first time I tried Ganko Ittetsu in Coolidge Corner, I fell in love. I'm so happy that they have a new location in Braintree so that it's much closer to me now. In fact, since they've opened, I have been going there every week. Their broth has so much flavors and the ramen is so bouncy! I really like their juicy karaage and calamari. The service is always quick and attentive. The ambiance is just zen. This is a MUST VISIT if you're nearby!

Gankara Yakisoba (with pork, extra spicy, extra veggies). Half-finished yuzu beer on side.

The food: This place has fantastic ramen (my favorite is the Shoyu 1910) but don't miss the other items -- had the Gankara Yakisoba (stir fried noodles) with pork last night and it was incredible. I requested it extra spicy with extra veggies and oh my god. It arrived steaming hot and looked beautiful. The portion was gigantic and every bite had so much flavor! The noodles were super glossy and everything was perfectly cooked, including the cabbage, which retained its crispness and was not soggy. My friend and I also shared the chicken kara-age (crispy is a MUST!) with the Thai curry remoulade as an appetizer. I think more people should experience what Japanese fried chicken tastes like when it melts in your mouth, smothered in a slightly sweet, bright and creamy curry dipping sauce. Hats off to their chefs--they are working some culinary magic back in the kitchen. The drinks: I haven't had many drinks from here, but if you're a wine person, I recommend the Donnhoff Riesling! My boyfriend, who isn't really into wine, loves it, and a coworker of mine even mentioned (in a completely unrelated conversation) that it stood out to her as the best white wine she's had recently. Last night, I had the yuzu beer, which was pretty good and smooth, though I do wish the yuzu flavor was a bit more prominent. The ambiance: Really appreciate the vibe Ganko Ittetsu has. With the black walls, industrial-style lamps and seating, wood tables and bar (which tapers off to a live edge), and giant custom mural of ramen enjoyers silhouetted in red (which greets you when you first walk in, a taste of what is to come), you get a sense that a bowl of ramen or a plate of noodles is modern and cool. And you, perhaps, are modern and cool for being there. The service: Fantastic service. Of the times I've been there, I've never had an issue. Food is served much faster than expected, but that may depend on the time of day/how busy the restaurant is. The wait staff are knowledgeable of the menu items and even offer suggestions, which is really nice. Our server last night was very friendly, and you could tell cared a lot about the food and our preferences. My friend ordered a yakisoba for her husband to-go, and they were able to accommodate his shellfish allergy. Overall, this is a great spot for friends, dates, coworkers, families (they even have ramen for kids!), and the like. As someone who grew up in the suburbs around here and never had a place like this nearby, I'm so happy the folks at Ganko Ittetsu brought their ramen to the south shore.

Came here on a Friday afternoon with friends for lunch and was quickly seated by the friendly staff. The place was very clean and have a nice decor. For the appetizers, we tried the fried fish cakes and karaage. Both were delicious, crispy and not ouly at all. The chicken was so juicy and it paired nicely with the curry dipping sauce. We also got some gyoza and it was perfectly fried and the filling was on perfectly seasoned. I tried the tsukemen and it was perfect. The noodles have a great texture while the soup was thick and creamy. My friends tried the tan tan and the Sapporo ship ramen, they both said it was delicous. Would definitely come back if I ever crave ramen and delicious appetizers.

Love the ambiance and the interior design. The service was great as well. It was quick but what stood out to me was our app was taking a while and the people in the back came and apologized that our entrees will come first. I thought that was really nice of them to do that. Giving it a 4/5 because I didn't really like my ramen felt like there wasn't enough noodle / content in it!

Never got the chance to try their first location in Brookline. Finally, I have a second location closer to my house. We ordered original karage with garlic ponzu sauce, Sapporo miso, and Sapporo shio. The ramen soup is thick, and their chashu is the softest I've ever eaten, as it melts in your mouth, making it so oily that I can't finish my ramen.

I finally have the opportunity to try Ganko Ittetsu Braintree. I frequented their Brookline location and the ramen tasted consistent for both location. The Braintree location has better vibe and bigger space than the quaint Brookline. Ordered karai shoyu ramen and chicken kara-age extra crispy. The chicken was juicy and tender despite being fried and the ramen was delicious with al dente noodles and rich spicy broth. Servers are attentive and welcoming. Great food great service greast location. What a trifecta!!

If you order the karage chicken, bring it home and put it in the refridgerator and eat it cold later with the ponzu sauce, it is to die for.

The inside of Hakata Ramen is tight and can get pretty busy, but the vibe is what you'd expect for the area. The staff is honestly the best part. They are welcoming and move fast. I have been here a handful of times and it is a reliable choice for comfort food. They have these daily bento specials with ramen, sushi, and appetizers that look like a great deal. I tried, but they are intriguing. The main downside is the broth quality compared to the price. There are definitely more authentic ramen spots in the city if you are a purist. You can tell the base is not a homemade tonkatsu broth, which is a bit of a letdown for what they charge. Still, it is a decent spot for a quick meal. * Tempura Ramen (7/10): The tempura is a total highlight because it is served on a separate plate to keep it from getting soggy, though the broth itself is fairly standard. I recently wrote a review for the 'Hot & New' Omori in Quincy. While I am not a detractor of Omori,…read morethe experience there left something to be desired. This is due to some creative decisions I disagree with and, at times, very little eel. Meanwhile, Sake Japanese Restaurant hits just the right spot! The creative decisions were excellent, with everything coming together splendidly. The fish was fresh and in more than generous amounts. This, in turn, makes the cost of about $20 per roll seem reasonable and makes it much easier to stomach (I didn't intend the pun, but I will own it). Regarding the Holiday and the Kevin Page, these maki rolls are similar. Both shine with the white fish on top and generous amounts of tuna (and salmon in the Holiday's case) within. The eel and cucumber add a pleasant new dimension to the pieces. I'd say these two are like identical twins adopted by different families. Each will have some unique personality and flair, but at the core, they are one. The crazy tuna brought something different to the table. While I am generally not a fan of the chopped-up style of fish, here it just works, and I didn't mind it. If I were to guess, this is because many places have more tempura than fish and add too much spicy mayo. Despite the style, the tuna was still able to shine through. For the inside, I enjoyed the crunch and freshness of the cumber with the sweetness and savory notes from the eel. Finally, the service was polite and speedy, though it wasn't bustling. Thus, not only would I happily return to Sake, but I would love to order the same three rolls again, for they were *that* good.
