I recently wrote a review for the 'Hot & New' Omori in Quincy. While I am not a detractor of Omori, the experience there left something to be desired. This is due to some creative decisions I disagree with and, at times, very little eel. Meanwhile, Sake Japanese Restaurant hits just the right spot! The creative decisions were excellent, with everything coming together splendidly. The fish was fresh and in more than generous amounts. This, in turn, makes the cost of about $20 per roll seem reasonable and makes it much easier to stomach (I didn't intend the pun, but I will own it). Regarding the Holiday and the Kevin Page, these maki rolls are similar. Both shine with the white fish on top and generous amounts of tuna (and salmon in the Holiday's case) within. The eel and cucumber add a pleasant new dimension to the pieces. I'd say these two are like identical twins adopted by different families. Each will have some unique personality and flair, but at the core, they are one. The crazy tuna brought something different to the table. While I am generally not a fan of the chopped-up style of fish, here it just works, and I didn't mind it. If I were to guess, this is because many places have more tempura than fish and add too much spicy mayo. Despite the style, the tuna was still able to shine through. For the inside, I enjoyed the crunch and freshness of the cumber with the sweetness and savory notes from the eel. Finally, the service was polite and speedy, though it wasn't bustling. Thus, not only would I happily return to Sake, but I would love to order the same three rolls again, for they were *that* good. read more

I had placed an order via Uber Eats from Sake. I ordered some sushi, some Yakitori (because my dogs love them and they deserved a yummy treat), and ramen that I put in the fridge for Sunday in plan of having some good hot soup after shoveling the pending snow. While my order was in route, the restaurant called and informed me that my driver forgot the hot items. Before I could even feel an ounce of disappointment and without prompt I was asked for my address as well as phone number and their delivery guy brought my ramen! No extra charge, and when I tried to give him a tip, he politely declined. THAT is platinum level of customer service. And to top it off, the sushi was delicious...I cannot wait to heat up and try the ramen. Highly suggest, if I could give more stars I would! read more

I've been to plenty of sushi spots and have never had an experience this unpleasant. The waitress here was beyond rude from the start -- when I asked for help with the menu, she literally told me to "just look at it" instead of answering my questions about the rolls. She raised her voice at me, which was completely uncalled for. To make things worse, I was charged an extra $8 for sauces that are typically free at most sushi places. Not only was this never mentioned upfront, but her attitude made it feel like I was an inconvenience for even asking. Between the unprofessional behavior and the surprise charges, I won't be coming back. I live this place. I'm Japanese and once in a while my grandma from Japan comes to America to visit us. We brought her to sake once and she loved it. I saw some reviews about a lady being rude and I have no idea what they're talking about the lady that I've known who works there is very sweet. Been ordering delivery from Sake for a few years now, they seemed to have done a revamp and quality is not as good in my opinion. Gyoza Steamed: (no pic) had no seasonings and tasted like was from a frozen prepackage now (really hope this gets updated as I liked their gyoza) Sushi: was still fresh thankfully (hard to mess up other than that) Lo Mein: has a new sauce. I've been coming to Sake Sushi for nearly 20 years. There were a few years in there, where I was not so happy with some things but I assumed that was more about the management than about the food quality and so I continued to come. Now it seems like the whole restaurant has been refreshed recently and the food quality has never wavered in my opinion, delicious & fresh It is still a cute, quaint, Japanese restaurant, and the waitstaff has always been friendly. I would probably give this place 3.5 stars, since its slightly better than okay. Even though I got the lunch special, I still think it's a little pricey for the amount of food you get. I ordered the lunch special, which was 5 pieces of nigiri and 6 pieces of salmon maki. It comes with miso soup and salad, but it's only enough to satisfy a small Asian girl, definitely not filling enough for the average person. The food was alright too, nothing amazing but good enough if you're just craving some sushi. Best place for sushi on the South Shore if you're looking for something a little more casual. I have never eaten here as a dine in customer because I never discovered them until after COVID - 19 but every experience I've had with them via delivery or takeout has been flawless. Good packaging, decent quality fish and sushi made with care that isn't carelessly thrown together! I've gotten both the sushi sashimi deluxe and the spicy trio special - both are recommend-worthy. One of my favorite parts of their "specials" is that they come with salad and soup as well. They're not the cheapest place for sushi in the S. Decent japanese restaurant in South Braintree Square. To my surprise, there are 2 sushi joints in the area. This one is a little more on the expensive side. We have only ever done takeout, but I have never been too impressed by the facade or interior when swinging through. Parking is usually easy enough during the day time with plenty of street spots available. Turning around or going back the way you came can be difficult as it is near the major intersection. Quality of fish is above average. The wife prefers the chicken teriyaki here. The dish seems slightly strange to me with small portion of rice and unflavored noodles added (maybe some oil?). The major issue is that prices are on the higher side. We also aren't in love with the miso soup or side salad offerings here. That being said, we have started to prefer this restaurant over its competitor across the street when we want to splurge for some japanese. read more

This is the first two star review I've ever given. (Whenever I want to give a deservingly bad review, I always think.. well what if this mom and pop shop closes because of my yelp post? Couldn't live with that). Anyways, here's what happened: I order here periodically because it's local and delivers. The sushi is very mediocre and quite expensive for what it is. However, tonight at 5:40pm, I called to place an order for delivery and the girl who answered was so incredibly rude that I'll never order here again. I asked if I could add shrimp tempura to a roll and she said no it was impossible (which is fine, hey I'm super chill, I'm no Karen, whatever, I shall order something else) but she had such an attitude about it and kept sighing loudly because I was trying to quickly choose another roll to order in place of this. Now before I continue.. I do realize I'm ordering right before the dinner rush, but it's not like I took an eternity and was leisurely looking through the menu while I was on the phone with her. The opposite! She was sighing so loudly that I frantically just ordered something random. The entire call took 2 minutes and 50 seconds. I ended up ordering three specialty rolls and crab rangoons and my total was $49.28. I wanted to add udon but she was already so frustrated and was rushing me off the phone. Pretty unremarkable. But what can you expect from a Chinese owned Japanese restaurant. I don't expect much from these places but this was so meh.. Got the unadon lunch special and the eel itself was good. The rice was dry though. Soup and salad included was tasteless. My mom ordered the takoyaki and get this.... it was covered in sweet chili sauce. I was floored. It's supposed to be eel sauce. The takoyaki was also definitely frozen and bought. The service was what you expect in general - sometimes there's a little bit of an extra waiting time, and sometimes there's not. It does seem like they run short staffed sometimes, but that's everywhere and the staff working (at least when I was there) seemed to be hustling to provide a good experience. Hello all. I ordered 3 different rolls last night from Sake, the Californai roll, spicy yellowtail roll, and the louisiana maki. I ordered them with brown rice (which is a nice option). I was incredibly disappointed with the quality of the fish, and the rolls were very loosely rolled, and fell apart quite easily. As if this were not the worst of it, I ended up with food poisoning later that night from the above mentioned food. I haven't been that violently ill in a long time. I'm very disappointed. I live in the area, and was looking forward to sushi restaruant that would be closer. read more

Braintree finally gets a Sushi Bar! Went to Sake last night with my GF. We started with the Spicy Tuna Salad, which was quite good. We then split a Carpaccio Roll, Red Sox Roll, and Philly Roll. Great Stuff! The fish tasted so fresh, and came out looking like a work of art on the plate. They don't serve alcohol, but we brought a bottle of wine which they kindly opened and poured for us. One of my biggest pet peeves is feeling rushed. Got my dinner before my appetizer showed up, while I was still eating soup and salad. Service was just mediocre, and there was no interaction with sushi chefs while sitting at the sushi bar. While I don't expect a full conversation, usually every sushi bar I sit at, the chefs usually at least ask how everything is. Sushi itself was just average. There was a little too much crunch in the spicy rolls for my liking and it took away from the overall taste. Next time I'd ask for less crunch or simply for none at all...wasn't much spice to the rolls either. Philadelphia roll was great! I was surprised to find a place that has yummy sushi. The portions are a good size and they offer you celery and carrots at the beginning. The sushi and maki rolls are soft and easy to chew off unlike other restaurants that the sashimi is very chewy, hard and extra cold. It's like it's been in the freezer for a few days. But this restaurant offers some great selections. My fave is the baked scallop appetizer! Very delicious and great amount. Not too much spicy mayo and extra crunch from the enoki mushrooms. Even the seaweed salad has great portions. The green tea fried ice cream is delicious. They give you a big scoop and the fried bread is thin. It's not too thick like other restaurants and the scoop is usually small. If you are around this neighborhood please try this place. I'm a very picky eater so I highly recommend you to try out this place. My cousins love the baked scallop appetizer too. They never had it before. Also the spicy yellowtail maki is good, Red Sox, rose lady or whatever it's called. The tabiko sushi is so yummy too. I'll visit this place again if I'm back in town.
