A few months ago, we went here for a late lunch. We ordered the salmon wonton chips as an appetizer and got the deluxe bento box and crispy duck claypot. The salmon wonton chips was always on par. The deluxe bento box was gigantic and came with unagi, vegetable tempura, gyoza, shumai, 3 pieces of spicy tuna maki, 3 pieces of salmon sashimi, and spicy edamame and miso soup. The crispy duck claypot came with roasted duck on top of tobiko and egg fried rice. For dessert, we got the fried cheesecake. Everything was delicious! read more

This place really lives up to its hype!!! I made reservation at 1:00 and came early. Fortunately, the hosts are really nice and let me sit because they have plenty of space. Host here are very professional and welcoming. Vicky the server needs a raise. She is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and recommended many of their best seller and loved sushi dishes. Fuji is one of those restaurants you keep coming back to because it's consistently good. The ambiance is relaxed yet lively, perfect for everything from casual dinners to group outings. It always welcoming every single time. I usually sit at the bar and Vicky To is usually there but shoutout to Becca and Njay, who made this visit especially great. Both were attentive, friendly, and on top of everything without being overbearing--exactly the kind of service that keeps you coming back. The food and drinks continue to hit. The Lychee Martini is refreshing and well-balanced, not overly sweet. Sweet Crispy Chili Wings are addictive--crispy, sticky, and full of flavor and heat. The Crispy Pork Belly Claypot is rich and satisfying with great texture, while the General Gao Chicken delivers that perfect sweet-spicy comfort-food bite. Sushi is always solid here. Fuji has always been a fan favorite of mine. However we have not been in for quite a while. We were craving sushi so this was an easy choice. As always we were greeted in a very warm way from the hostess and was sat a a round top in the middle of the room. Our server was very charming and attentive. Said differently, he gave us plenty of time to relax and make choices. We had a fantastic bottle of wine - Joel Gott Cabernet which was a perfect match for the food. Most people say you should have white wine with sushi - I disagree, I think red is sometimes better. We had a mixed bag of food - I got the WOC fried rice which is excellent! It's clean rather than typical greasy fried rice and loaded with shrimp, ham, egg and other accompaniments. I also had the spider roll which was done perfectly - crisply and lots of meat. My guest had a number of rolls that were nothing less than outstanding! Although the restaurant is very busy it has a very comfortable buzz to it. Forgot to get the waiters name, but he was very kind made sure we got everything we needed. When the waiter saw we ran outta napkins, he brought back some more and refilled the napkins and water for me and my friend. Ambience was amazing the dishes were super clean and constantly saw servers cleaning the tables. Came here from Westford MA because I was craving the salmon chips!! I always get this dish when I come here and one order is for myself lol. I also always get the avocado salad and my caterpillar roll. The avocado salad is so refreshing and is such a great appetizer. The caterpillar roll has a great soft layer of seasoned rice. Easily one of the best Japanese restaurants in greater Boston! If you're looking for delicious clay pots and tasty sushi rolls, and a nice upscale place to hang with friends at, this is the spot. Parking can be a bit hard to find on the weekends as you'll need to find street parking, but a few blocks down, there is a lot that allows free two hour parking. The manager Mel was so great. I forgot the name of our server, but he was very attentive as well. Mel shared some great recommendations and we went ahead and ordered almost all of them. We ordered the ribeye clay pot and crispy duck clay pot (our favorite of the two clay pots), the siren's kiss roll, and the caterpillar maki. The egg fried rice in the buttered clay pot was SO tasty with that nice slight crispy texture. I think the crispy duck was a great complement to the dish overall and it was very nicely cooked, which is why it was my favorite between the two. The Siren's Kiss was a unique roll that had spicy honey drizzled on it -- indeed a kiss on the lips! We also tried a Toro appetizer and this was one of THE best toro sashimi we've had. Lastly, their drink options sounded all sooo good. We went with the "insta-famous" which had Bacardi rum, peach liqueur, coconut creme, pineapple and blood orange and this was such a nice fruity coconut drink -- very refreshing! The appetizers were served quickly and made you wanting more. My duck claypot was delicious went well with the sushi that we also ordered. The drinks from the bar were top notch as well. I lived in Massachusetts for almost a decade, and I was always curious about going to this specific location since I've been to all the others. Before I moved out of state, I finally decided it was time to check it out as my "last dinner" with my Asian family. It turned out to be the most disappointing restaurant experience that we ever had. This is coming from someone who had moved to 3-4 states and tried many local Asian restaurants in each state. This is coming from someone who lived in Hawaii and California, so you can use this as a comparison of expectations. We had a male server. When he came by the first time, he didn't greet us. He asked for our orders, but he proceeded to go through his apple watch in the MIDDLE of us saying our orders. We literally stopped talking, because we realized he wasn't listening at all. We just waited for him to finish reading and responding to his messages from his watch to continue to say what we wanted. Not once did he stop by our table right after that. A female server working in the bar who was the exact opposite in terms of personality and friendliness was the one who gave us our dishes. Towards the end, she also helped us get our to-go boxes and the bill. The male server came back and put the bill on our table. To NO surprise, he didn't give any eye contact nor words- not even a "thank you for coming". What WAS surprising was that he was so readily available, friendly, and talkative to the table next to us who were all.... white! What a joke. The male server on the bill was "Njay". What a disrespectful last dinner. We actually left the establishment hungry because the food wasn't good either. This is coming from us who are from California and Hawaii. Recently, I came here on a Friday for my birthday lunch. We got seated quickly and the service was attentive. The fish they use for their sushi is super fresh and high quality. I enjoyed their Tuna Tartare which had notes of truffle mixed with pickled cucumbers, avocado, and crispy wonton strips garnishing the top. The Tuna Tartare was a bit expensive ($25) but their bento box was a good deal ($18). Don't miss out on their bento box deals (every day from 11 am-3 pm!). Their bento boxes are very filling as they come with miso soup, salad, variety of tempura, gyoza, shumai, 3 pieces of spicy tuna maki, a handful of spicy edamame, and a protein served over rice. Most recently, I got the Unagi Bento Box, which was super filling. My piece of eel was a bit smaller than I expected, but it was tasty nonetheless. Parking around here can be tough, but there is nearby street parking. Overall, I recommend coming here for their lunch specials and a nicer meal! I first went to Fuji at WoC a few years ago and have been dreaming of the salt and pepper calamari ever since! I recently went back with some friends during my trip home for the holidays and the calamari continues to be the star of the show! It is so tender and flavorful. We ended up ordering 2 orders! I also enjoyed the mango avocado roll and cocktails. The teriyaki noodles were not my favorite as they did not have much of a teriyaki flavor and were also lacking in sauce. So disappointing! I will not be returning. I came in on a Friday night to a nearly empty restaurant, and was told they had so many reservation that I could not be seated at a table. I was told to wait for a bar seat. As I was waiting, a couple in came in without reservations and was seated immediately. Hearing this, I went up to the hostess, and she lied claiming they had reservations. Suddenly they were able to move reservations around, so that they could seat us. This only happened after we had asked about the other couple. We were people of color and the people seated immediately were white. While I cannot know the reason for this terrible service, I am appalled at what I would call blatant racism and discrimination. read more

Fuji is a notable sushi restaurant in Quincy. It's a nice option for a date night with a large bar area, booth and table seating. The restaurant is clean and bright. I placed a to-go order for the scorpion maki and Hokkai yaki maki. Both were just good. Didn't taste much scallop in the hokkai roll. Also ordered a miso soup that was tasty. Parking around this area is a bit of a hassle so I ended up parking by the post office on Washington Street and walking about 5 mins over. We got the spicy edamame to start which was good and definitely spicy. The heat exaggerated the spice so I had to wait a little bit for it to cool off.
