If you are so fortunate as to find yourself in the Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Parks area, please do yourself a favor and spend a day (or two!) with GaperGuide. We picked up one of these very simple-to-use units (plugged into your cigarette lighter or auxiliary power, and activated with a push a button) on the way out of Jackson, WY, headed north. We drove past the Grand Tetons and around the lower loop in Yellowstone. Utilizing GPS technology, GaperGuide knew where we were at all times, no matter our pace or how many times we stopped. It shared information, instructions and fun facts about notable things we saw, and was like having a cool friend in the the car with us who had lived his whole life in the area. Not too little, not too much, but just the right amount of information, and presented in a very friendly way, absolutely appropriate for all ages. The area through which we drove is a very expansive, awesome area, and left to our own devices, we might have lost confidence in our navigation abilities! GaperGuide almost seemed to sense at what intervals we needed a little reminder that we were perfectly fine wherever we were, chiming in with some amazing fact or tip. We drove across Wyoming, through the Black Hills and Badlands, and across South Dakota. Sure would've liked to have GaperGuide along for THAT ride! We had a day and a half in Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park - obviously not enough time, BUT....Gaper Guide to the rescue. Highly recommended for those with a little or a lot of time to explore these National Parks. Our group of nine longtime friends celebrating our 60th birthdays planned to "do Yellowstone" on our own, but heard about GaperGuide. We rented two guides, one for each car, and we all loved it, even those who had been to this amazing place before! We were given far more information than we could have imagined. Unfortunately we only had one day, so we couldn't take all the many suggested hikes and see all the places that were recommended. We did, however, feel very validated when the places we chose to stop, walk, look, and enjoy were affirmed by the guide. We did the big loop, entering and departing at the South Entrance, and were in the park from about 9 am, leaving the park around 10 pm, so we were also glad to have the guide with us should we make any wrong turns. We visited the Grand Teton and Yellowstone parks recently. These folks were great answering all our questions. They are also the founders of the Gaperguide. Renting the Gaperguide was by far the best thing we could have done! So glad the RV park I was checking into, Orsen's RV park, told me about GaperGuide. I had never heard of it before. They explained it and I ended up renting a unit for the day. As I entered into the north Yellowstone gate the guide started telling me and educating me. Several comments were made that were interesting and I had no idea. The way it is presented was excellent. The guide told me ahead of time what is coming up and made suggestions. In one case it suggested a lake drive road that was worth it. If it was not for GaperGuide I would have not gone down the lake road and would have missed some photo opportunities. I recommend to any traveler driving through Yellowstone. read more

We decided to use the Gaper Guide when we checked out the prices of the accompanied/guided tours in the Jackson Hole area. We were not disappointed and would use it again if given the opportunity. Make sure you take your binoculars, camera & cell phone. The beauty of the system is that you can stop whenever you want, ignore suggestions made by the Gaper Guide if you choose and spend as much time as you'd like in any given area. The owner, Will, suggested a couple of places that we could stop for lunch and even suggested a great coffee house afterward! Our entire group loved the Gaper Guide. We traveled through Yellowstone. All 5 families had a device in their car. All of us appreciated the device's ability to know precisely where we were and what we should notice. We would have missed so much without it! After returning the device, we found ourselves longing for Will, the smooth voiced narrator, to guide us through our drives in Idaho, Colorado and Montana. This is a brilliant idea and execution. We used the Gaperguide on our first day through the Grand Tetons. It provides the history of each site and also offers fun facts which our grandkids loved. We already had a guided tour scheduled for the next day for Yellowstone. Had I known how good the Gaperguide was going to be, I would have skipped the guided tour and used it for Yellowstone. For one thing, you can stop and take as long as you want at any given site and secondly, it is only $45! We spent $700 on the guided tour and it wasn't nearly as fun or as good as the Gaperguide. The GaperGuide is wonderful! The guide gives you information as you travel through the parks, describing everything from picnic areas to bathroom stops to hikes to fun facts and history of the park. You get just the right amount of info and he's not talking all the time. Also you can just skip if you don't care to hear the details of a certain area. It really made our trip easy, informative and enjoyable. I would recommend to everyone. Also in a side note, if you don't end up using it as you thought, they'll only charge you for the days you did. We used the Gaperguide to tour Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. It is uncanny how it knows just where you are and adds an interesting piece of information and points out the best places to see wildlife. My husband and I enjoyed the ability to tour at our own pace and avoid a large tour bus that dictates how long to stay at each stop. One caution, check out your unit before you leave your rental location. We had a loose wire on our first unit and also had to reboot our second. This is the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. This is a must have for anyone who wants to get the full experience of the Tetons and Yellowstone. We would have driven around and not learned anything. There is so much more than the scenery and unless you are prepared to stop at every plaque (hundreds of them) you will not learn much about the parks. We had the pleasure of meeting Will at his Jackson office. I recommend picking up your device there and having a chat with him. He's great and his product is great. Despite having lived in Jackson for most of my adult life, I haven't been to Yellowstone since the 90's, so I knew I'd e a poor excuse for a tour guide. We had family visiting from Maine and picked up a GaperGuide on our way north through GTNP and then to explore Yellowstone. Installation was super easy and it was an awesome way to experience the parks. Very interesting facts about how the areas were formed and what makes the two parks so distinct from one another. Loved, loved, loved this device. I looked into a guided tour for my husband and I and 3 grandchildren for Yellowstone and The Tetons but it was so incredibly expensive. The GaperGuide was like having our own private tour. It was the best of both worlds. The guide told us exactly what we were seeing as we drove past an area and we had the luxury of stopping at a site or moving on. We had a rental car which did not have a GPS system so we used our Garmin Nav system and the GaperGuide worked great. The Caperguide is awesome. It's not only very informative on locations and trails, it also includes information on animals and history of the parks. We loved it. This was the best investment we made on our trip! It was like having your own personal guide in the car with you. We learned so much about the parks that we never would have learned by reading a map.
