I called Nic a few days ago to schedule an appointment to check our single-spring garage door that only opened half way. Nic immediately knew it was a problem with worn-out spring and quoted me accordingly. He even re-shuffled his schedule to fit us into a preferred time slot. Nic came on time and gave us options to either patch-up or do a replacement. We opted in for a replacement and he finished adding the new spring in about 20 minutes. Nic also checked other garage parts to see if they need to be fixed/replaced. The final cost turned out to be $125 which is lower than his quoted price. Upon accidentally running my car into the two bottom panels of our garage door, I was thinking, "Damn.. well guess I'm going to need to buy a whole new door". Yep, $1000 dollar minimum seemed to be the case. I called up almost every garage door service in Portland and that was basically what it was coming down to as our now semi-mutilated garage door was over a decade old and an odd size, one that hadn't been made for several years either. SOL. That's what I thought, but there seemed to be one glimmer of hope. Upon calling Nic, he gave me all sorts of information at his free will on what my options were, and how I could best remedy the situation, and that he would search around in his inventory for the door that I described. He called back a day or two later, as did another garage door service, saying that out of pure luck they actually had a couple sets left of this rare garage door (with the same color no less). I pricematched, and Nic came through by far with the best price and availability. His installation was flawless, quick, and he was very informative and kind whilst there. I called at around 10:30 in the morning and Nic answered the phone immediately. I indicated h could probably make it over to my place in 2 hours and he'd call before he came. He delivered on that promise. Reviewed the problem, quoted me and fixed the door within an hour. The price was $245 to replace two springs and two cables. I didn't call around to get other quotes so I don't know how competitive that price was. He has a one year warranty and wanted me to make sure I called if I had any issues. My garage door torsion spring broke and I needed it fixed. Nik the owner came out to my house evaluated my garage door and determined that numerous components on the garage door were showing significant wear. He broke down three options for me. Repair just the broken spring, repair all the components, or replace the entire door. He did not try to pressure me into anything, just put the options and prices out there and let me decide. His work was done in a timely fashion, and with my limited knowledge and know how he appeared to know garage doors inside and out.
