Jonathan arrived and diagnosed our problem as a broken spring, and replaced all four at our request in less than 1/2 hour, charging over $700 each and with $150 labor and a 5 year warranty. Found out later the retail price of the new springs actually installed is $76 each from the supplier, 1/10th the price! In addition, at the end he recommended replacing the opener, which was working properly, and when we said no - he reduced the spring warranty to 3 years on the receipt. I noted too that there are issues with the studs to which the door hinges attach, and he said it is not a problem, which makes me think all he wanted to do was push parts at inflated prices. At 1:40pm they called me and told me the tech was stuck on a job and couldn't come until tomorrow or Monday as opposed to be changing my schedule to accommodate the schedule . HEADS-UP - Garage Door Services sold their business to Garage Door Inc. Alex with Garage Door SERVICES was AWESOME. Amazing, responsive, great to work with. But... When you call the numbers now, there is an operator who just answers "Garage Doors" I was sent a technician (Aaron B.) who, while responsive, was definitely not Alex. Quoted $699 to replace two garage door springs, oh, and PLUS 6% service charge so $741. Talked to a few friends, and average was ~$500 for typical job. My fault for not getting another quote and THINKING I was working with Garage Door Services who I trusted. Did some homework and Alex has sold his phone numbers (on the picture) to GDI, Garage Door Inc. This is a large company, so you're paying more for their shiny trucks and forms. Not my cup of tea, but may be a fit for some who don't mind over spending. Buyer beware, don't make the mistake I did. My garage door broke Friday morning. I took a day to learn more about potential problems and solutions. It also seemed like an expensive service so I thought I could do it on my own. However, on Saturday afternoon I was looking at $200 worth of parts and a week to get them. Alex asked for not much more than that and offered to have everything fixed Monday morning. It is Monday, 9:30am, my garage door is fixed as promised and I couldn't get it done sooner or much cheaper. And I now have regular torsion springs instead of Torquemaster, a switch which I now see is recommended online but one which I wouldn't think of myself. 1 star is being nice. Garage door services was the company to call for anything about garage door. Alex was the man. Honest, responsible, reasonable, communicative, responsive, just made me feel comfortable in referring him to anybody. But now he is gone and you get the opposite, waiting around all day until you are reschedule for the next day, try to troubleshoot and recommend the changing something they think might work but then the problem persist and they charge you an arm and 2 legs... I never wrote a review before and I just want to give a bad review but I thinking about it, this company doesn't even deserve to be given a review, waste of time. Hope Alex comes back to save them.
