I still said it will ok. He then said he is in the neighborhood.,so he will be there in 20 min. So he did . He charged the visit of $89 for same day service. Okay still fair, I said . He did not call or show up Saturday as agreed. Sunday I called and agreed for Wednesday. He sent a guy to do the job. The labor cost for 2 hour 2 man job in invoice $230. Guy fished his work in less than a hour. I asked to charge me 1 hour only, but Steve argued on phone that it was 2 man job ! But one did . This guy was called early January emergently and kindly came right over to close our garage door when it got stuck open. He then said he could fix the door the following day. He estimated the work and asked $500 deposit. I didn't know this. My husband paid him, grateful he could come so quickly to help us out. All he did for us was close the door. -It's unfortunate he pops up first when searching for garage help in our area. That night we looked at the reviews of his work and how much he was estimating the job to be. $1,200 or if it's the motor then it'll be $2,400. We decided we'd get a couple more estimates before having him do the repairs. My husband called him in the morning letting him know we changed our minds. Steve said no problem. They ended the call. Steve called back within a few minutes, he said, "I'm an honest guy and I'll return the $500" back to my husband. This was Friday. Come Tuesday he still hadn't returned the money. My husband called him, I believe Thursday asking about the money. He told my husband that he spoke it over with his partner and they decided they were going to KEEP OUR MONEY!! They did no work. He didn't even call letting us know this. The estimate we were told for labor was $200. We never signed anything. Which Steve even confirmed with my husband. He said that is how much he would've made that day and by us cancelling he lost his pay. I would've let him keep $100 for the inconvenience. So I called his two numbers****he has two Yelp businesses listed**** randomly over the next couple weeks. He Stopped answering our calls, even sent calls to voicemail. THIS GUY IS A THIEF! Our garage door stopped working unexpectedly on Saturday 2/12. My husband spoke with Steve on Saturday 2/13. He came over that evening and gave us an estimate and when we agreed to his services he asked for a deposit to return and do the work the next day. I paid him $200 as a deposit and then poof he never returned to do any of the work and wouldn't return phone calls or text messages at all on Sunday. Finally he called my husband back on Monday at 2:00 pm and nonchalantly asked if we still needed the garage worked on. At that point we had hired another company to fix the problem. Pure garbage. That's why they opened a new yelp account. Steve is a shady person. They missed two appointments to come to my house before they finally showed up. The only reason I called them was because their phone number is on the garage door motor from the previous homeowners. So eventually they came out to my house to service my garage door and sold me a garage door opener. After three days the garage door opener quit working at night time. I called them and they told me my battery needs to be replaced on the door motor. When they came out and replaced the battery, the remote still didn't work properly. They tried to say that I broke my remote. And this was only two weeks after they sold me the remote. Remote was not broken; never dropped. He did some temporary fix on the remote instead of replacing it. It's been a few weeks since he did that and tonight my garage door is not opening with the remote. I am going to take them to small claims court. The filing fee is more then the actual remote itself, but companies like this need to be taught a lesson. They can't keep scamming people. We used Steve to fix a broken spring on one of our doors in 2021. He did a great job and came out the same day. Our other door needed some work and we wanted to insulate them. Set up a time to come back and after a few text messages the date came and went. Don't know what possessed me to call him this year to do the other repairs but I did and he eventually came out and repaired the other door. I made the mistake of giving him an $800 deposit for the insulation job. That was in the beginning of April. Steve's biggest problem is his lack of communication. He never initiates calls with updates, you are always the one reaching out to him. I have 4 phone numbers for him, 3 on his stickers/card and the other I believe is his personal. It is now August and we cannot get ahold of him. Have tried text, email and voice mail. Nothing. Periodically he would call back and promise to call back and say he would call back with a date. Never getting a return call unless initiated by us. We have given up on him and of course asked for our money back. But again crickets.
