This is a super cute restaurant. When you walk in it's like you're in a racing garage. There are racing flags, cars on display, and memorabilia. The food was delicious too. Look, first off you have to know that after waiting table for 11 years and eating out about three times a week as I travel for work, I'm a service snob. Service is just as important to me as the food. Our server started out great. Seemed high energy, greeted us immediately after we were sat at our booth and asked what he could get us to drink. Brought drinks out immediately and asked if we were ready to order. We weren't but asked him for some recommendations. He gave us some and seemed very enthusiastic about the food. He came back three times asking us if we were ready to order and finally even though we were not ready to order we decided that he had an agenda and we needed to be on it. We ordered the ribs, the halibut fish and chips, the fish tacos, a sushi roll, bowl of tomato soup, and onion rings. The portions were huge and everything was really good - the tomato soup was just okay because it's not a creamy tomato soup and we like our tomato soup with a heavy dose of cream. So this is where the service went downhill. We got our appetizers from a runner who didn't know who ordered what. I hate that! We started in on our soup and onion rings and sushi roll and not five minutes later the same runner came with two of the entrées. He was trying to get us to make room for them on the table and I said "Hey we're not even partially done with our appetizers why are you bringing our entrées so fast?" He said "because they are done. I can take them back and put them under the heat lamp if you want! " Our friends said no will take them (because they are much nicer than me). I told him That my wife and I were not ready for our entrées yet. Nevertheless three minutes later he brought our entrées. It was like the wait staff had no awareness of what we were doing at her table or the pace at which we were trying to decide what to eat or how quickly we were trying to eat. Again the food was really good and the portions were generous. But our waiter took 15 minutes to check back to see how everything was and we had to ask for our waters to be refilled twice. When we were done he asked if we wanted desert. We were way too full and so we said no. He brought our check, which we split. And we were dismayed to watch as he brought our checks back and didn't remove the dirty plates from our table. We sat there for 30 minutes talking with the dirty plates still on the table. He finally came back and asked if we needed anything and I said "it would be great if you would take away the dirty dishes," and he said "oh yeah I guess we should've done that!" Oh, the cheese for the appetizer was pretty bland. 1/5 enjoyed it. The kids meals came in these paper cups and leeched the flavor of paper into the drink. Regardless of if it was water or soda. Their Dr Pepper was out, which is what both kids wanted. So they were disappointed. Went to the new location in Herriman on a Friday evening and there was an hour and 1/2 wait! People in Herriman have obviously been waiting for a new restaurant and watering hole. We came back on a Tue eve and had no problem. Being from South, I ordered the Jambalaya. It was actually quite good. Shrimp, Andouille sausage, rice and cajun spices give it just the right kick. Enjoyed it. My wife however got the BBQ Pork Sandwich. And again, being from the South, BBQ is a mainstay there. But the BBQ on the sandwich was rather bland. No discernable BBQ flavor that we could tell. But some may LIKE that. I don't like to trash restaurants, especially new ones getting up and running. Will DEF be going back. They really go ham on the car theme here. Parked in the strip mall parking and seating was straightforward and it seemed like there would be good service. No problems with cleanliness and drink selection. Ordered the soup and a salmon sashimi entree. The soup (and probably most things on the menu) were too spicy for a spice sensitive person like me to enjoy, but they brought me sour cream. The salmon was good. Garage grill has a potluck of different types of food. You can order American traditional, Japanese, Italian, or even southern food. It's a wide range of selections. I tried a sushi roll, sushi nachos, and jambalaya. All three choices were decent. I went with a party of 16 and they were able to accommodate the large party in a private room. This may be because we went with a large party, but the service was not great. We had to ask for utensils and water refills. We waited a long time for drinks and food. As far as the service, we didn't have a good experience. I think Garage Grill is a cool place for all the car lovers out there. The food names on the menu are even creative. Low on service. This is a fun please. Great atmosphere with all of the car and motorcycle paraphernalia all over the place. The napkins are even garage rags. The menu has everything from sushi (yes I said sushi) to wings to pizza and burgers and pastas. There is something for everyone. Our waitress was nice although she seemed a bit forgetful. She brought out our entrées and forgot to put in our appetizer order. I ordered the poutine because I really wanted to try it. Another Sunday outing with the family, this time was dinner at this place. I got a nice jalepeno burger that had some amazing spice to it. The place was clean, and I always like a themed restaurant. We also ordered the totchoes, and holy cow that stuff was freaking amazing, I would return just for that alone! It's big enough to share with a few people for sure. Their fries were very tasty. My brother in law, being from Canada, ordered the poutine but ordered it without the meat on it since that's just not how it's supposed to be, they forgot and did bring it with the meat, we didn't really enjoy that and since my sister in law doesn't eat meat didn't get to try it. We don't tend to send food back and there were 8 of us so that was kind of a bigger party to try to worry about it, and since it came very shortly before the actual meals it really wasn't worth it. The name for this place didn't really fit the menu. Sushi?! From a garage?! I don't eat sushi and I defintely wouldn't eat it from a place that had the name "garage" in it if I did. Anyway... Great decor, menu names and your even get shop towels to use as napkins. Started off with a house margarita and backseat blonde beer. The margarita was so bland, defintely tasted like a good tequila even though it claims to have silver and not worth the $6.50 we paid. The beer however, was great and well worth the $3. Food: We ordered the speed trap nachos and the wings to start. The chips were warm and great, the queso was a bland spice. Salsa was decent but not great. The wings... Oh man were they awful. Over cooked, very rubbery and way to spicey. Defintely over priced and not worth it. Main meals - Red line dog - Man this thing had potential when reading off the menu but defintely left with a huge disappointment. Not only was it not on a pretzel bun, it was extremely salty with a sweet chili on top. Again, overpriced hot dog. Short rib grill - here is the menu description. "4 on the Floor Grilled Cheese Big Block Stout Braised Short Rib, Four Cheese Blend, Sliced Jalapeno Corn Bread" Here is what you really get - sourdough bread with cornmeal crust. Definitely no Jalapeno Corn Bread. Pretty sure I had maybe 2 cheeses, not 4. And last but not least, fatty chunks of meat. Yet again, another huge let down and misconception. Kids grilled cheese and apples. Best part of the entire meal. Service was great though and our waitress was very on top of everything and we were greeted promptly upon arrival. This is where the 2 stars come from a well as the decor. So needless to say.... We will never return and I'm not sure where the great reviews came from but defintely follow the less than stellar reviews. They are defintely more accurate. It's a fun atmosphere, but I come for two main reasons. 1) They have Gluten free options beyond just salad for my wife that doesn't make her sick and she enjoys and 2) They make some really goo burgers, that are well made, a good size and with some fun variety. I think their fries are really good too. Recently, I tried the Big Block Philly Cheese Steak and it was really good for a west coast cheesesteak. It's big and you can customize it to your liking. My crabby patty was pretty yummy. I was a little nervous but the flavors were well paired. And I handled the whole thing!!!! The sweet potatoes fries were good too. My husband ordered them with his and I tried the original ones. The atmosphere was so fun! It was cozy and very stimulating to the brain. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't over crowded, we waited about 15-20 mins to be seated. It was a great experience. One word of caution..... the floors are slick. I about face planted a few times. Given my shoes weren't grippy at all but I don't wanna worry about wearing grippy shoes. Menu is full of options, and has many favorites; however, the menu is long and overcomplicated as you spend lots of time having to read each item description, since the food names are auto/track oriented. Visited on a Sunday afternoon, the service was fair for a slow day. Majority of food is high in sodium, either with seasonings, sauces or added salt, not exaggerating. I noticed that there was low sodium Kikkoman on the bar counter, for their sushi options. The sweet potato fries are good but have extra crystals of sea salt. Burger with brisket was high in sodium, from the seasoning and mustard. The cheesesteak Philly was descent and wasn't over seasoned, but it had a lot of burnt/over grilled ends. Well matched peppers and onions, and choice of cheese was generous. I chose Swiss. The only thing that was perfect was the onion ring "upgrade". The vegan beet burger has been replaced with the vegan beyond burger. I miss the homemade beet burger but this time around I tried the vegan axle sushi. It has avocado, cucumber, cilantro, red pepper, and is served with lemon wedges, soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi. It is very yummy. We also tried the beet hummus appetizer.
