We've eaten here several times and keep returning for Garcia's Parillado which is one of our favorite Mexican dishes. The combination of steak, chicken, vegetables, and shrimp is delicious and we generally split it between us with an extra order of rice so that we both have rice. Best Mexican restaurant in Frankfort. We eat here regularly for dinner, or girl's night. Great beer and margarita selection, as well as menu variety. My husband's favorite is the barbacoa tacos. I often order chicken soft tacos, nachos, chimichanga, quesadilla, taco salad... you can't really go wrong. Nice bar area, but we usually sit in a booth which provides a bit of privacy. The food is inedible. When we complained about our dinner, that contained rancid meat and rock hard rice the owner started cussing in Spanish and using threatening foul language in front of my small children. I have no idea how this place is in business. My husband found a worm in his beef - absolutely disgusting!! We stumbled upon this place while visiting other shopping establishments. The amazing smells coming from within lured us in. It was a Friday night around 7:00ish. We were immediately greeted and sat. The salsa is brought out to you already poured in a bowl. I'm not fond of this, but I've noticed many restaurants are now doing it this way. The salsa was sooo good! Could tell is made fresh with fresh ingredients, even my 11 year old commented how fresh it tastes. Chunks of onion and tomato- not runny or bland- perfect spices. Outstanding service. The waiter was on top of his game! Drinks kids had pink lemonade which was refreshing. Wife got the "organic" margarita. And let me tell you, it was delicious/refreshing.....The food felt like home made, pork enchiladas were exquisite, the beef nachos and steak fries you can tell that took their time to fix and garnish them not only appreciating but delicate prepared. We were invited to meet some friends at Garcia's for dinner. Of course you can't go wrong with good company for dinner. When we arrived we entered the restaurant knowing that some of our party were already there as my husband recognized the vehicle we parked next to. We were greeted at the entrance by two male employees and told them we were there to meet some friends. The dynamic duo tried to set up a location for us to eat. They didn't comprehend that we knew some of our party were already inside. Fortunately in their search for a table they came across a female employee that knew exactly where our party was seated. Whew! After being seated the server took our drink orders. Nothing too difficult, an unsweetened ice tea and a water. After the final two members of our party arrived and were served their drinks the server returned to take our food order. My husband ordered the Chile relleno dinner and I ordered the Taco salad with ground beef. Other members of our party had been to Garcia's before and Fish tacos seemed to be the dinner of choice. When served all the hot dinners came out first and I was told my salad was being made. No problem. Unfortunately I was less than impressed with my salad. There was NO meat of any kind. The lettuce chunks were way too big to stuff in my mouth. There were a number of strips of carrots that were three or four inches long and too chunky to cut in half. There was one small scoop of sour cream and guacamole on the top but otherwise the salad was quite dry and flavorless. I poured some left over salsa from the chips on too to make it edible. I think I ordered the wrong thing. The other dinners looked like they were all enjoyed but I did notice the gentleman across from me putting fork full scoops of salsa on his fish tacos. The waitress towards the end grumbled about her long working hours for the day so she wanted payments to be as easy as possible. Since I was seated at that end of the table I'm not sure if I was the only one that heard her grumbles. We were an easy group of diners that had not made many demands on her time. Typical Mexican menu with lots of choices. The chips and salsa was delicious. Salsa had a great flavor, pretty mild but yummy. Had a late lunch and the service was quick and great. The people who waited on me were very nice. However, a few employees were loudly arguing in the background one woman in particular was yelling so loudly it was very awkward. This review is based only on the food, as I have not been inside. Overall, the taste was great! The guy who took our order was friendly and precise. I had the chicken flautas, my husband had beef nachos, and my aunt ordered a seafood chimichanga (I can't remember name.) Everyone loved the food, and the prices were pretty standard... our only complaint would be that they were kinda skimpy on meat. It's a pet peeve, especially for nachos. This is the BEST Mexican restaurant in Frankfort. Seriously, I have been to almost all of them. (There might be one on the west side I haven't been to, maybe). While I truly believe that Frankfort needs a more authentic Latin-American restaurant scene, this is the closest there is. Yes, there are the standard lunch specials, tamales, tacos, fajitas, but they also have chilaquiles. While they are not exactly how I remember them growing up, at least they are on the menu. Stopped by this restaurant while traveling through Kentucky. Decent Mexican food. Did not have the normal combos were used to but instead had more entree style dishes like seafood, steak, etc. I had the taco salad without the shell and husband had the Burrito Garcia. He loved the burrito. It was loaded with shrimp, chicken and chorizo. It came with black beans that were really good which was a nice variation from retried beans. I had the mix fajitas, steak and chicken, if you like spicy I recommend ask for hot salsa, has good flavor and nice amount of heat. Our waiter sucked so bad. They were taking a group of 9 order and was a bit confused. I ordered a michelada and they asked me a few questions and then left. Then they came back and said. Food tastes good but it's not worth what you pay. I believe their prices have gone up in the last year but the portions remain the same. The fajitas never have bell pepper, it's almost always purely onions. I also ordered pick up and was missing an item I ordered. Disappointing considering it was nearly a $30.00 meal with tip.
