Update, Please beware. This restaurant has changed over the years. Today I went to have a nice decent meal and a beer by myself. Food was good, beer was cold. I consider myself a pretty good tipper, especially when I get good service. The service wasn't bad. I planned on tipping $10-15's on a $27 tab, as usual, however when I got my check I noticed that they took out gratuity on a one person tab. Upon doing a lil research, I was the only patron in the restaurant that was charged gratuity. Being that it was 4 other party's with six or more, I found that strange. I was the only person that was hit with a gratuity charge in the whole restaurant. Needless to say I will not be supporting this establishment anymore. We've eaten here a number of times and it's usually quiet and relaxing. The service and food are good and the portions are filling. The fish tacos were new to me and while they were tasty, I felt there was too much of the cabbage slaw for the amount of fish. As a result, I ended up deconstructing the second taco. Delicious food, great service, and amazingly the best band playing on Friday night. It was country music, and they were fantastic. Had a black bean burrito and a cheese quesadilla that were delicious and their guacamole was so fresh and flavorful! We are there several times a month. Sadly Monday night was our last time. We go in Monday evening & a waitress that has only waited on us 1 time before grabbed us. I was a fan but thought ok I'll give her the benefit of the doubt because up until the last time 3 weeks ago we'd always had one of the waiters & couldn't ask for better service, that was not the case with this waitress. We'd already been seated by the host , she comes to the table & first thing she says is I didnt charge you for your bucket last time?? I always check our ticket before we pay & I'm sure we paid or I would've said something. I do not expect anything free. We ordered & just like last time service was substandard once she brought our food she never returned. We had to seek her out for a to go box & our check. I checked our ticket & everything was correct I gave her the money for our meal & she turns around & says oh it'll be another $10.00 for the bucket last time!! It was not on the ticket but I gave her the $10 & we left. I truly think this is her way of pocketing extra money so we will no longer be a customer. Food quality and pricing. Plus the hospitality service once you put your order you don't see the waiter for a while until they bring you the check. The food quality is really poor tasting. Chicken mostly full of gristle and not cooked all the way. The setting is nice atmosphere is fine but the food and the pricing very horrible. They don't even try to correct the problems when they serve you bad food. The pricing is no way worth the quality of the food. I won't be going back. Well, the wife and I have been trying this place again. We stopped going several years ago because they changed the credit card receipt. But we decided to give it another chance. After several visits everything was fine, the food was good and the service was polite. But tonight, we found out the nasty way that they recycle their chips and salsa. There is nothing like digging into the salsa and finding someone else's soggy chip in the bottom of the dish. That is just flat-out gross and nasty. Strike two...you're out!! We decided to give a different Mexican Resturaunt in Frankfort a try. In nearly thirty five years, both living in Frankfort and just visiting lately, we are well aware of the saturation if mexican food places. So, we thought why not? Our waitress did not speak English, and we did not have our Spanish-fluent family member, so it was a challenging time. We ordered a variety of entrees and each was surprisingly good. This was, of course, very traditional Tex-Mex. It was good for what it was. Our waitress did get translation help, and we enjoyed our meal. I encourage others to try. Always a good time at this Mexican restaurant. We mostly frequent this business on. They have bogo draft beer on these days (minus the KY Bourbon Barrel Ale). And the patio is open. I have enjoyed the food here a few times and it's always decent. They offer chips and salsa if you're dining in but you have to pay for them if you order to go. When I eat in, my food usually arrives within 15 minutes of ordering. This past week, I called my order in because I was crazy busy at work and needed to get back quickly but wanted some Mexican food! They told me it would be ready in 15. I get there about 20 minutes later and had to wait an additional 20 minutes on my food. Orders that came in after I came in had their food before I left. I stopped here the other day on my way home from Lexington for lunch. The menu is pretty much just like the standard local Mexican restaurants and they did have several lunch specials listed as you walk in so I decided to choose one of those. I went with the quesadilla rellena which also comes with rice and beans. They were out fairly quickly and I enjoyed all of it. Family Mexican restaurant. We visited a few times while living in Frankfort and I can say we never had a great experience. You're getting basic Mexican cuisine and that's all. The service is always slow. Not sure where the employees go but they don't hang around that's for sure. Make sure to get what you want while they're at the table. Even after all the dishes have been cleared you'll still have to wait around for your check. The food is hit or miss. I had the burrito rio it was pretty good chicken burrito with a green chile sauce on top. They also have a pineapple fajita meal that's served on half a pineapple! I love that meal. But everything else about the restaurant just isn't worth it. On the other hand, we asked for a salsa refill for the table and what was brought back tasted like straight vinegar. Disgusting. The salsa doesn't have much flavor to begin with. Chips are stale. And My husbands chicken nachos were pretty sad. Barely any chips on it. He said the chicken was bland (it must be bad if he's complaining) and there was just not much food. He was still hungry when we left. Just not worth the money. This place is great! The staff are always super friendly and attentive. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. Every Monday and Wednesday they have buy one get one free well drinks. They have the standard American taps bud light, ultra and so on. They also have on tap Blue moon, Pacifico, and Dos Equis amber. Don't let the three stars fool you, but My Guadalajara is a very solid choice for your Mexican dining in Frankfort. The competition is just stiff out there. I went for lunch with my co-workers and selected the Lunch Fajitas from the lunch menu (see photograph). It featured tender thin strips of marinated chicken breast with sautéed onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. There is the option for beef skirt steak as well. The dish was garnished with lettuce, sour cream, picco de gallo, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. It is also served with a side of Mexican rice and refried beans. The dish was very good but it was slightly salty for my taste. I found myself drinks tons of water the rest of the day because of it. The service was great and the waiter worked very hard to get our food out in a timely manner so we could return back to work on time. I would definitely eat here again and think my first experience was a solid one. read more

One star is too generous. Eight of us went on a Saturday evening at 6:15. Received complimentary chips that tasted as if they were made last year. Ask for some hot salsa, received a small bowl of something. It had the appearance of scorched tomatoes and peppers and tasted even worse, totally inedible. Our party placed our order at 6:30. Six plates came out at 7:00. At 7:15 my friend and my plates had still not come out . At 7:20 our server came to me to tell me that because of the size of my dish that it was taking longer to prepare. At 7:25 one of our party left the table to inquire about the status of our two plates and told they would be out shortly. At 7:30 the other six had finished their meals and I called the server over and instructed him to cancel our order. At 7:35 the manager came out to say the kitchen couldn't read our order and our food was coming up. My friend and I told them to cancel our order. The manager said that friend's food was ready and they would comp her meal. We told the manager that we had to leave so they brought it out as a to go order. As it was already 7:45 we left the food setting. As we were leaving the manager followed us to our car to give us the food. We told the manager we did not want the food but she insisted.
