Great location, lots of parking. Entrance/lobby is spacious. The decor is very festive. Our server seated us right away and got our drink order. Service was fast. Chips salsa plus queso dip was complementary and was delicious. All tasted fresh. Entrees a different story. It was fresh and presentation was nice, But the meat was salty. My husband had a wet burrito with carnitas. I had a taco with ground beef. It was salty. I also ordered a cup of Albondigas soup. It was okay, had plenty of veggies and one nice size meatball. Was surprised how good the food was for an American style Mexican food chain. It was very good, portions were huge, loved the margaritas. The service was a bit annoying. He came over too often to check on us when not needed & we were trying to eat & was nowhere to be seen the times we did need him. Just poor timing. But we also were given apps (big & messy delicious apps - good), but no plates or utensils-bad, so it wasn't as pleasant to dig into when it was for the table. When we did ask for utensils, he came over with them covered completely in his bare hand, even the mouth parts, and were put on the table in a pile with things pointing opposite each other, so not only did we have to sort it out, we also had to wipe everything down really well since he touched every part of it all!. Lets start with I ordered take out! I arrived to be greeted with that's not on our menu. I ask why wasn't I told that upon ordering? Bartender interjects She Only Works One Day A week! I ask what can I order that is fast ( Shrimp Fajita said the bartender) sounds good! order 2 beers for my wife and I and wait for this order. it comes pretty quick! on the way out after not drinking but a few swallows' from each beer the lady that ONLY works 1 day a week was very RUDE as we walked out. again i tipped Both transactions said nothing negative to anyone, didn't ask to see a manager, Nothing! didn't even ask for a discount. now to the meal LOL, it was not to bad. Ate here for the first time with my sister and had an amazing experience. It was a Friday night, and it was actually very quiet. We ordered an appetizer sampler and it was the perfect amount of food for the both of us, with a nice variety of options. The bean dip that comes with the chips and salsa is phenomenal, and the salsa is definitely drinkable! We also ordered the chocolate empanada thingies, and they were also delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food took a little bit of time to get out, but we didn't mind waiting. This was a new restaurant chain for us to review. It's OK. Starts with refried pintos and salsa and chips. The salsa was mild, and for those averse to cilantro, it has a LOT of cilantro. We tried combinations. I had the "green" tamale and a chile relleno. The tamale lacked much chile or cheese. The chile relleno was fine. Their rice and beans were OK. My partner had just the chile relleno with "charro" (pintos with onions and more). The upshot is that if you're vegetarian, they'll warn you about ingredients that have meat; this limits their sauce/salsa toppings for you. The prices were a bit higher. Their facility is clean, and their service is fine. The value... we decided not so much. There is nothing really outstanding there. It could be great with a bit of menu twisting and thought. read more

Group of six stopped in Saturday night and was not disappointed. We had to wait for a bit, which is fine. First time in, so I played it safe with a burrito. Restaurant was clean and fresh on the inside. We were greeted immediately and sat by our server. She was very cheerful and talkative. Right after she sat us she got like quadruple sat and after that we didn't see her much. It took her about 15 minutes to get our food order, which was fine as we weren't in a hurry, but then it took like 30 minutes for our food and we were maybe the 2nd people in after they opened. So that was weird. The food was ok, but it took so long, that we got full on chips and salsa. They do need to watch how hot they make the plate, even after 5 minutes of the food being delivered the sauce was still bubbling on the plate and the plate was too hot to move and made some of the food too hot to eat. Overall, there are a lot of choices for good Mexican food in AZ and I would out this place on the lower end. Oh goodness. We diverted from a German restaurant for this mediocre Mexican restaurant. We arrived for lunch - not super busy - to wait for a bit to get seated. When seated, we waited for drinks, waited longer for chips and salsa, and we finally had to use the tablet on the table to place our order after waiting for 10 minutes. I ordered the sour cream chicken enchilada and a ground beef taco. My husband order the chili verde chimichanga. I was surprised in a disappointed measure with my food - the sour cream enchilada was nothing reminiscent of an enchilada by the name. No, it was more like a chicken ranchero enchilada -- not good. The taco was the only part of the plate, and everything was salty (and I like salt). My husband's chimichanga was covered with the same chili as in the interior. Still, not bad. Ambience - we were seated next to the server station that had a phone that audibly stated the phone number of the caller -- and there were a lot of calls. Not really a relaxing dining experience. The bathroom - smelled so badly of sewage. Gross! Would not recommend for anyone. read more

I love how this restaurant is decorated and designed. There's a beautiful family style table set up. The food was great. Also, to settle the "raw" chicken review. I too received pink chicken but it's not raw. Chicken thigh meat often cooks pink when grilled or marinated. The chicken shredded, raw chicken won't. It was cooked and tasted great. Disappointing Experience - Rude Management I have never felt more unwelcome at a restaurant than I did at Garcia's. Our experience was completely ruined by the manager, Twee, who was by far the rudest and most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with in a dining setting. Instead of providing good customer service, she was dismissive, condescending, and completely uninterested in addressing our concerns. The food itself was decent, but no meal is worth being treated poorly. A restaurant should be a place where guests feel valued and respected, and unfortunately, that was not the case here. Because of Twee's attitude, my family and I will never return. If you value customer service as much as good food, I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

The burritos had what looked and tasted like canned beef and canned chicken, the chile rellenos were very tough, and all of the dishes had shredded cheese that was only partially melted. We enjoyed a delicious lunch today. Immediately you notice how clean and fresh the restaurant is even though it is over a year old. There is a faint, pleasant scented candle in the air. Complimentary salsa, bean dip and chips were promptly delivered to our table. They were delicious, especially the bean dip. We enjoyed chicken enchilada and chicken, spinach quesadilla with steamed vegetables. Yummy. Excellent service. Fresh iced tea. We look forward to returning soon. read more

We've stopped in the past few Sundays after church. (My 9-year-old granddaughter loves the bean dip served with the chips.) Last week we had a waiter, Alex, who was magnificent. Today my husband and I were there and Alex waited on us. Again, the service was superb! Alex is attentive and doesn't miss a beat. We can hear him give the same excellent service to all the patrons around us as well, so I know it's just his nature. (We'll be requesting him from now on!!!) Aside from that, the food is excellent and comes out piping hot and in a timely manner. Garcia's at this location (55th/Bell) is our Sunday go-to from now on and Alex is our go-to waiter from now on! The Valley's best old school Mexican restaurant. The complimentary warm chips and bean dip are to die for and the margaritas are large and refreshing. The menu includes all of the traditional classic Mexican dishes, truly delicious and the portions are satisfying. Staff are genuinely personable and friendly and really seem to take pride in their work. Shout out to the back of the house, you guys are great and your food is always on point. Easy to see why Garcia's has been in business for decades. My highest recommendation for anyone looking for outstanding old school Mexican cuisine. read more

We'd initially tried to go to Outback just across the street, but the wait time here was WAY less than 2 hours on a Saturday evening. It was busy, but they kept up pretty well. We waited about 10 minutes before being seated. Drink orders were promptly taken, and complimentary chips, salsa AND bean dip were placed on our table. That was a pleasant surprise- I don't recall bean dip ever being included without charge & it was very good! Much appreciated we got a bowl of each, at each end of the table for a party of 6. ...only, the containers the salsa & bean dip were served in looked like they came straight from the Fry's Marketplace shelf. Totally obvious it wasn't fresh or made in house. I'm glad I stuck with water because the margarita one ordered was basically an icee with a pinch of margarita mix. And the cocktail the birthday girl ordered, she sent back because it was overly sweet- said it was literally drinking straight blue curaçao (I tasted it & entirely agree- a child would have loved it but no good for a $14 cocktail!). Water was a "hit" for me. The mini chimi appetizer was good. So were the mini street tacos one of the kids ordered. Birthday girl & her partner loved the chicken fajitas. I opted for my favorite- the chili relleno & sour cream chicken enchilada combo. The chili relleno was pretty good, better than I've had prior. Just, generally lacking in flavor, which is always the case. The chicken enchilada had a bit more flavor, but the side of rice & beans was nothing special. Both a bland filler to round it out. The downfall- both of us that had a chicken enchilada (myself & one of the kids) included in our meal ended up with an upset stomach a few hours later. Found that a bit coincidental it wasn't just one of us. Luckily it wasn't full blown food poisoning but we do think the chicken used in the enchiladas was either bad or tainted. Overall the restaurant is very spacious & nicely decorated. The staff was great & attentive. It took a while to get our main dishes but that's understandable for how busy it was on a Saturday & I think the staff did a great job at keeping up. Just seems like the bar & kitchen were the ones overwhelmed so it didn't pan out the best as far as food & beverage. I'd say that MAYBE I'd give it another chance, just not very eager after feeling quite ill before bed last night (and this was the only thing consumed). Alcoholic beverages aren't something I'd order after the disappointing ones the rest of my party tried. And, chicken enchiladas aren't going to be the first choice with my palate for a while. But I will mention for the rate most places are hiking their prices- this was not bad at all for what we ordered. Very reasonable & less than $15 for a full entree. The complimentary chips, salsa & bean dip do make it worth it, regardless if they came via bulk order in cheap containers- still good! I don't live in the vicinity where this restaurant is located so I can't say I'd go out of my way to visit again. But, if I do happen to be in the area again, it's a maybe. read more

This is probably my overall favorite mexican food restaurant in our area. It's always clean and I have have mostly all great interactions with the staff. They're very accommodating when asking about allergen information for my daughter. I LOVE the bean dip they give & their salsa is good enough on it's own. For food, I have had the sampler platter a lot as well as the pollo fundido quite a bit. Those are my go to's but I haven't had anything I haven't liked here. Also my pickier toddler is a huge fan of their spanish rice so that's a plus! We come here so often & will continue to. I love this newer location & it's so nice inside!
