We were looking for a hidden gem Mexican restaurant and we stumbled across this amazing restaurant. When we arrived the place was empty but by the time we left they had a nice little crowd. To start out the service was great! Our waiter took great care of us and gave us some good advice on what to order. I end up getting muscles as an appetizer and chef special as my main course. The food was phenomenal good. The best I've had in a while. Overall this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've had in a while!!! I can't wait to go back and try the margaritas!!! read more

My 95 yr old dad & I had lunch here. He's been coming here for years & loves it! I can see why! The decor is adorable, love all the bright colors & designs. The chips and salsa are fresh and the salsa is seasoned well with a nice spicey kick. The chips could use some salt though. I had a chile rellano. It was not crispy but had a soggy coating. The chile itself had a nice smokey flavor though but the soggy coating ruined it. My partner had a combo plate with a taco and cheese enchilada. The taco had lots of nicely seasoned hamburger meat, fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The enchilada had a nice amount of cheese and plenty of sauce seasoned nicely. Visited for the first time for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated right away, but there was definitely a lot of people in there, which is a good sign! We got drinks, and delicious chips and salsa right away. The salsa was spicy and packs are really good flavor. Grams got a chili rellano and I tried the arroz con pollo (chicken and rice), it was freaking delicious! The sauce was incredible, the chicken was super juicy, and I loved the portion of vegetables in the serving. If you come here get the CARNE!! It was so tender, flavorful. The pozole was also very authentic. I would just say the only standard taste was the sides of rice and beans. Nothing exciting. We can't believe today was the first time we've ever been to Anaya's. The staff were amazing. Very sincere, and friendly and genuinely cared that we were eating at their restaurant. Ambiance is fun and colorful. It was taco Tuesday and we tried three of the tacos on the list. They were incredible. The corn tortillas were homemade and delicious. My favorite was the green chili taco. We were given complementary chips and salsa, which is rare these days and liked the fresh homemade salsa so much we bought a jar to take home. They have a full bar and the bartender makes a great drink. We will definitely be back. read more

Anaya's has amazing food! Don't let it's strip mall location fool you. We ordered a Cheese Crisp to start and it was the best cheese crips I think I've ever had! We shared the chile relleno and it was delicious! We also each had a crispy chicken taco. It was by far the star of the meal! The food - Very very good. Food is great but Valle Luna beats this place in every way but customer service. My suggestion is to lower prices just a bit to keep up with everyone else who are doing things the same 'unique' way. Having an awesome, cheap street taco option for AFFORDABLE food would bring in so much business. The area this place is in + the gym next door is prime time for some cheap and tasty protein. I would think that most of the gym rats would rather protein up at home than pay 12-15 dollars for a plate of 2 tacos. Where's the beef?! Add the street tacos boss. read more

We have been to Anaya's several times. It has become our go-to for Mexican. My husband enjoys their chicken mole with fresh tortillas. I usually get their spinach enchiladas but this time I throughly enjoyed their Enchiladas Rancheros. We started the evening with frozen margaritas- mango for me and peach for my husband. I'm not sure what is going on here, but this is not the restaraunt I posted rave reviews about previously. It started with a taco salad. I requested no bowl. The salad came out with nothing but the shredded beef and corn tortilla strips and a tiny bit of cheese. When I asked about the beans she said she forgot and said that was the way they used to make the taco salad. I ordered a flan to go and when I got home, the flan was massively curdled and tasteless. This was the place we would take out of town guests, but not anymore. The place was not busy for a Saturday night. I guess others knew what I now know. Sad. read more

The greatest Mexican restaurant in Phoenix. Decorations are outstanding and so cool. Now for the food ..........the best there is. Have tried many dishes from breakfast to dinner all outstanding food. One thing they could improve on are the chips. Low quality chips, hard and not cool. That is the only thing for improvement. I found Anaya's Mexican food on Yelp. Their strong reviews caught my attention, so let's see what all of the fuss is about! They are located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated. Unfortunately, the young lady at the reception desk didn't seem so happy. I noticed the same look with some of the other employees. A smile was hard to come by for whatever reason. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. The tables and chairs had Mexican murals and the live Mariachi band was really enjoyable. People in the restaurant were all seated on the same side of their tables so that they could watch the band as they enjoyed their meal. I thought that was pretty fun! Our sever was helpful and fun-loving. Our drinks and really good chips and salsa came out quickly. After I ordered my food, I said "oh, please add onions to my enchilada." He responded, "sorry, it's too late!" I did get my onions anyway. I did try a little bit of everything to get a feel for their food. I ordered my Taco with ground beef. I didn't really care for it too much because of the way it was seasoned. This is common in this area. I guess one of these days I will learn and order the shredded beef. I will say that ground beef tacos with simple ground beef and onions is hard to beat. I'm not much on cumin or Taco seasoning. I did like the Chili Relleno. They used Hatch Chili (rather than Pablano) and it was covered in a nice sauce, which I also liked. The enchilada and enchilada sauce that it was covered in, was excellent. While, I felt the service was a little unfriendly, the food was well above average and the fact that there was a band there to entertain their guests, tells me the owners care about their customers. Anaya's is a top contender for Mexican food in the area. I have been to and rated many Mexican food restaurants in and around Phoenix and Anaya's in my opinion deserves a top 5 spot. read more
