The menu has changed, the portions are noticeably smaller, and the prices have gone way up. I don't mind paying for good food, but I do expect the food and experience to justify the price. This is starting to feel like the prices of the downtown tourist spots, as if they think we're in Fredericksburg. Most of the people who live here are hardworking, middle-class families. We don't mind spending money, but we shouldn't have to pay premium prices for smaller portions simply because a restaurant has a Main Street view. Sadly, this used to be a favorite of ours. It isn't anymore, and we won't be returning. Start looking at why places are closing down, because you're NOT getting community support! I wonder why? I would like to say that the service has always been good it's just the prices and how they charge for everything separately now.. nope!

Cristiano shared that their cinnamon rolls have won awards, which naturally made us curious enough to try them ourselves. Quite honestly, we were pleasantly surprised. The cinnamon rolls were soft, flavorful, and loaded with icing. If we had to make one suggestion, it would be to offer a version with pecans, our favorite type of cinnamon roll. Teal House is also a boutique and wellness-oriented space that offers a variety of medicinal products displayed along one huge wall. He took our drink order, gave us menus and some time to decide what we wanted. After a few minutes he brought us our waters and took our order. We ordered several items. El Olivo which is a garlic bread. It was okay. The bread was good. It was nice and warm and the garlic flavor was all on top. Whipped Feta which comes with grilled Naan and cucumber slices. The Naan was okay. It was a little cold and needed to be warmed up a little more for my liking but my kids ate it up. The cucumbers were fresh and crisp and the whipped feta was pretty good. It had a slight lemon flavor but not enough to where you could taste the lemon with every bite. Pork belly chicharron which had pork with avacado covered in a sauce. It came with tortilla chips. The tortilla chips were thick and crispy. Perfect for scooping up some of the pork belly. The pork belly was delicious. The sauce that covered it added flavor and the avacado was fresh. The Lamb chops came with Lamb, carrots and a puree. The lamb itself was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and was tender with each bite. The carrots were slightly sweet and the puree was soft. It was a good mix of different textures with each bite. The Truffle mac and cheese was a macaroni and cheese with chives and truffle flavor. This was very tasty. The macaroni was tender, the chives were spread out and added that slight onion flavor. The cheese was very flavorful. One of my kids ate almost all of this. Barbacoa Doughnuts which are mini doughnuts filled with barbacoa topped with a salsa. I don't really like barbacoa but I tried them and was pleasantly surprised. These were delicious. It was basically a soft and warm mini doughnut filled with flavorful barbacoa. The sauce on it added a slight spicy flavor. Patatas Bravas are potatoes with salsa and a garlic aioli sauce. These were very tasty. That salsa and aioli sauce are what gave this dish all of its yummy flavor. The potatoes had a crispy exterior with a soft interior. All of the ingredients mixed together made a very good side dish. One of my sons ordered the Dos Olivos Burger with Tater Tots. He said that the burger was okay. I tried it and I agreed. The tater tots were good. He ate those up with some ketchup. My other son ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwiches with everything on the side. He substituted a salad instead of the fries. He ate the salad up. He also ate the Fried chicken from the sandwich. He said it was good. He is not a fan of sesame seed bread so he opted not to eat the bun. I tried the red cabbage apple slaw that it comes with and it was okay. Lastly I ordered the Beet Salad which comes with beets, pears, and candied pecans. I don't usually eat beets but I wanted to try it. It was very good. The beet chunks were large and soft but not overly soft. The pears and the candied pecans added a crispier texture and the mixture of all of the ingredients along with the sauce that was on it made this a super sweet beet salad. Almost like a dessert. It was delicious. Overall the restaurant is a cool spot to visit. The market is a neat addition that adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.

To top it off, one of the tools used to mix the drinks was quickly wiped with what appeared to be a dirty rag and then immediately used to mix the next drink without being properly washed or sanitized. This is a serious cross-contamination concern. The dining room was also very dirty, which made the overall experience even more disappointing. I really hope management sees this review and addresses these issues immediately. I've always enjoyed coming to this location, but what I witnessed today was extremely unsanitary and concerning, especially for a business handling food and beverages.

GREAT FOOD! Why the 3-stars? The place is small and is always packed...and, it often seems that there isn't enough staff to accommodate the number of patrons there at one time. Also, beware of their staff answering the phone if you're looking for some good Mexican take-out. I really do love Garcia's over other Mexican food establishments... The problem is that it's hard to actually get the food without chain calling for takeout or waiting for a table to open up during peak times. read more

I met some friends here for lunch today. Seeing my friends was worth suffering through the awful food... I can't believe how many good reviews this place has. Are the reviewers used to or comparing it to Taco Bell? Actually, Taco Bell has better food! The "corn" tortillas were slimy, I suspect they mix flour or something into them. The "cheese" has to be a cheap version of velveeta. Next time I'll make sure to pick the place to eat. It won't be here! Awful! read more
