Really wanted this to be great based on the reviews. The chips & salsa were great. Charro beans were very good. Had the Garcia deluxe plate (enchilada, tamale, taco, chalupa). I really want to give 4.5 stars but it won't let me... 4 isn't quite right, so I"m over-rating at 5 stars. We have never had bad food from here. I think we've been here about 8-10 times with family friends over the last two years. The salsa is always slightly different - sometimes too tomato-paste-y for my taste (but Hubby loves it), sometimes too spicy for his taste (by its my fav). But that is part of it's charm because clearly that stuff isn't coming out of some jar. The chips, as another reviewer said, totally addicting. The specials they have are usually an amazing deal (and I think the price almost always includes a drink) while the regular menu prices are cheaper than trying to get that much food from taco b/hell. "Lot of food for a little money" - Hubby. No it's not authentic mexican food, but its pretty darn good Tex Mex (only had dinner here). Chalupas, spinach enchiladas, tacos, carne guisada enchaladas, mexican chicken fried steak all have been great picks. Oh, by the way, the shredded cheese- yeah, that's real cheese, good stuff. Disappointed. From the number of people that we saw in the restaurant for dinner on a Tuesday it looked promising. Dinner offerings was very limited and not unique. Restaurant is very small and you may prefer to eat outside to get more room. Chips and salsa were good and husband had their beef and chicken fajitas which he enjoyed. I had their Garcia plate that I thought would be good so that I could try all varies they offered but was disappointed. Drowning in cheese to where there was no distinction. Only positive I give it is that they offered the standards on kid meals as well as breakfast all day so two boys got the breakfast taco and one got the hamburger. Service was friendly and quick. I had a tamale dinner and my hubs had the chili rellano. I thought the food was ok. My tamales seemed dry even with a gravy on them. My hubs said his rellano coating seemed greasy. Chips and salsa were given as you ordered and were good. First, let me say that when you walk in the door, it looks very promising, until you have to sign in on a clip board and stand there being ignored. Each time the staff came to check the clipboard, they never greeted the guest. We honestly felt like we were imposing on them. Food was adequate but very bland. My enchilada had American cheese inside of it. I had much better food from other local Mexican restaurants. Service was very slow. There were screaming children everywhere. We waited 15 minutes for the check. I must say, this was the first time we had been there and the last. Not impressed at all. This is such a tiny restaurant and that's one of my favorite parts about it! Salsa is great, with chips that's are cooked properly. The green chicken enchiladas were also really great. Ordered take out, got it home to find there were no toppings on the nachos. My husband tried to call back several times, the phone would just ring and ring and then go to a voicemail that has not been set up. When I called from my number they answered right away. They get two stars because they have decent queso, chips, and salsa. They def don't get five stars because the rest of the food was mediocre at best (save for the carne guisada, which was maybe just Alpo straight from the can) and the service was truly horrible. I would like to know, what the heck happened to this place? This USED to be one of the better mexican food restaurants around the Kyle/Buda area. This place had gone way down hill. I walk in to place a to go order. There are about 15 people waiting for tables outside. I am standing at the register for almost 10 minutes. The young hispanic girl asked how many are in my group. I tell her I want to place a to go order. She rings me up and disappears. She was not friendly or professional. She was rude and inconsiderate. She gave away 2 tables to other people who had been waiting less time than a couple who was standing at the register with me. When they mentioned something to her, she laughed like it was their fault. I finally get my food and asked for chips and salsa. She tells it will cost extra. Wow, I can get it for free if I eat in. I pull out my debt card and pay for chips and salsa. We get home and this place does the one thing that drives me crazy about Mexican food restaurants, they use American Cheese. I realize it is much cheaper than Cheddar. It does not taste the same unless you use actual cheddar. The Taco salad was almost like a "taco flower" where the bowl was fanned out. It was not very full at all. I have gotten fuller taco salads at Taco Cabana. The beans were bland and had no flavor. The rice was mediocre at best. I could have made better Mexican rice. The tortillas were not homemade. That is another mark against you. It so much easier to make a tortilla from scratch, rather than use store bought ones. Also, what happened with your salsa? It used to be flavorful. It was more tomato and onion than anything. I knew there was a reason why we had not been back here. To the owner's of Garcias, FIRE the girl working the register. She is clueless and rude. I about walked out and went somewhere else. You food used to be great. Nowadays, you are better off getting mexican food from Taco Bell. Thanks but no thanks. I will not be back. When I get a craving for Mexican food, I will hit the Texcan. It is a little further drive, but their service is awesome, plus their food is great. read more

I had the enchilada with side of guisada. I ordered a chalupa in the side. When I got my meal it was piled with rice and beans, one enchilada, and about 4 small pieces of guisada. When I asked about the guisada, the waitress just shook head and said yeah that's it. Doubt I'll try it again. read more
