This place charges $5.00 to have a single men's dress shirt laundered. That price is outrageous. Le's Tailoring, which is 2 blocks away and also on Webster, charges $3.50. At the latter, there is no minimum. You can walk in with a single shirt. If you shop around in Alameda, you can get it down to $2. The help here is not the friendliest. Bringing them clothing seems to be a bother. Also, they do not offer 24 hour service on some days. I believe they have pickups to their central wholesale cleaning service two days per week. So if you time it right, you could get your clothes back in a day, but most often that will not occur. Parking is tough! Its on a busy retail street with meters. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. I would have given them no stars if that were an option. Two bad experiences in the space of a month. First, a blouse worn once came back disclored. They said there was a stain. There wasn't. They just used too much cleaner. They made no offer to pay for the loss or even give us a credit. Then, they were asked to remove a stain that did not come out on their first cleaning, and when my wife asked for the blouse, they had lost it. Understand, my wife and I had been regular customers for about two years. Then, when they mess something up (twice), they don't offer to make it good. No oppologies, it's just your fault. Loses one star from my original 4 star rating. Everything is the same except that I got whacked in the face with a much larger bill than expected recently. Turns out my laundered shirts went up a dollar each. No signage, no notification, no warning. After looking at my receipt in my car, I went back in to ask if they raised their price and they said yes. They were really under-market $ priced for a long while and the new price is probably closer to what everyone else is charging. But still, I would have appreciated a sign indicating they had to raise prices to be competitive or whatever. I used to drive across town to come here, but no longer worth it for me. read more

I like this place. I have been using this place ( and a few others ) for our dry cleaning needs for almost 5 years. This place is reliable (knock on wood) they havent messed up an article of clothing or misplaced anything yet. They always quote me a certain date and then have it ready a day or two before. The prices are reasonable as far as dry cleaning goes. Mens dress/suit pants are about 4.50 a pair and laundry for dress shirts is 1.25 I want to say. Man I miss being able to use this place, cant wait to get my dry cleaning done consistently once I move back to Alameda. Which is more than I can say for my current local dry cleaners who charges 9.25 per pair of pain and 4.50 for a shirt. ?! read more

These guys are okay.. They do a decent job about cleaning your clothes, but they aren't always on time. I had a large load of clothes to be cleaned by Thursday at 1pm, I stopped by on my way home... (5pm) and only some of my items were finished. Good thing I didn't need anything for that evening, or I would have had a coniption fit, but still, one of their dryers was broken, they could have called to let me know. That's all I want. In a pinch if I need something clean, I know they'll get it done, but if I'm on a timeframe, then i wouldn't choose them.. read more

I LOVE this place! The service is amazing and so personal. The main woman who runs the place always remembers my name, asks about my family and makes the process very easy for me. She has a really quick turnaround and the prices are reasonable. I've never had any issues with my clothes, no missing buttons, stains, or white creases in my dress pants. I first became a customer at Garden Cleaners because they were able to alter a pair of trousers after I'd been turned away by several other alterations places on the island. I've had nothing but excellent service from them! They've performed really excellent (and difficult!) alterations on several dresses and pairs of trousers, and the work stands the test of time. I had a wool coat cleaned with them & it was returned with a belt loop repaired (free of charge!) and it smelled good as new. Love this place! read more

I take uniform shirts here weekly and I'm thoroughly pleased with their prices, service and results. The only thing keeping me from posting a 5th star is the fact that parking is absolutely abysmal. A sign proudly proclaims that they have free 10 minute parking around the corner. In the 6+ months I have been going here, I have never seen that space free during business hours. read more

I have been a customer of this cleaners for over twenty years. In the past year or so the quality of work and service has fallen from dependable and courteous to very poor and very, very rude, insensitive and discourteous. They just ruined an extremely expensive and rare cashmere scarf. Sweaters are coming back covered wit debris and clothes are not clean. Adding insult to injury, the staff person's response is inappropriate, boarders on the abusive and blames the customer for the cleaners negligence. Staff person and worker laughed and the situation and showed no sensitivity for the damage of a very valued piece that will be nearly impossible to replace. Garden Cleaners was never like this before, and I am extremely distressed by my personal loss of property and well as their fall from grace and professionalism. read more

Black dress shirt came back washed instead of dry cleaned. When asked why they did that, they said it was okay to wash the shirt a couple of times. Who gave them the consent?! In addition, the black shirt and the black dress pants were covered with lint. They looked dirtier than before, just feel gross. Don't know where they had been placed. When I was passing by the back door of the business sometimes, there was a van carrying the trash can sized buckets which were used to hold the cleaned clothes. Excellent work, great staff that knows me & often has my cleaning ready when I walk in if I park in front. Once in umpteen years they lost a shirt & without prompting, offered to reimburse me for it. I hate writing negative reviews, but when I feel like I need to warn others, I do. There's a reason this place has bad reviews. In my case, they ruined a perfectly good tie. People make mistakes. We all do. I wanted to continue being a customer because they're so close to where I live, so I brought it up nicely only because I wanted to avoid that problem in the future. As soon as she realized that I had brought something back instead of bringing in more business, it wasn't smiles anymore, and she became antagonistic. Thinking back, they had mistakes before. Some of the damage was permanent, but not super obvious so I didn't want to say anything. This just made things clearer. If you care about your clothes, I cannot recommend this place. I'm really surprised that they even gave me back the tie in the condition that it was in. It had creases all over. It seems like they just try to get as much business as possible and don't really pay attention to what happens to the clothes. read more

I cannot recommend this place. I used to love them for their Wash and Fold service. They used unscented detergent and it always came back on time as promised. But since the beginning of this year, the wash and fold came back REALLY stinking of perfumed detergent--as in: my eyes watered! I'm giving up. The smell was so bad I had to rewash everything at my neighbor's house. And I also started finding my clothes from them ruined by permanent bleach/detergent stains this year. Maybe their laundry person is overstuffing their washers? It's too bad. They were my favourite place. read more

I have been there three times and they can never find my phone number or name in their system. Also, the price has gotten too high. From last year until this year price of cleaning went up $11.00 for same item. Just want to add that the counter people were always nice and friendly.
