Overall very good. The 2 dishes we ordered were the honey walnut prawns prawns and fried black pepper chicken. Plus the chocolate cake. The honey walnut prawns were SO good. I personally loved them and I see why they're popular. They had a really nice texture and taste. The fried black pepper chicken was also good but for my family's liking (we ordered it) a bit too spicy. We got mild spicy for the black pepper chicken. And just to warn some of you--Mild spicy from here IS spicy for those with super low spice tolerance. The chocolate cake wasn't very good because it was dry. Loved this place! We ordered several dishes- Singapore Style Rice Noodles, Kung Pao Chicken (tofu), Tofu with Iron Plate, Szechwan Eggplant & String Bean, and Scallion Pancakes. Everything tasted super authentic. The tofu replacement in all the dishes were delicious. Medium spicy wasn't spicy at all (we could've gone "spicy"), but the flavors were good and each dish had its own sauce profile, which I appreciated. Scallion pancakes were my highlight. Mountain View only has one fully vegan restaurant and this is a great one to represent for the veg heads out there. Run by a small family, we felt right at home with their service and great food. We ordered three entrees and some brown rice on the side to share. Each dish was about $16 so average pricing for the area. The Basil Tempura was highly recommended and we did enjoy the spices they used for the dish. I thought it would be a bit crispier given that it's tempura but they do add on a light sauce, making it more of a stir-fry consistency. We also tried their Dry Braised String Beans with Soy Chicken and this was another standout. Like the previous dish, they do go a bit heavier on the sauce than I'd imagine so it's not a fully dry stir-fried dish, but a great one nonetheless. My favorite dish was their veggie ribs which was essentially their take on beef and broccoli. Their use of mushrooms here as the beef was ingenious and the meaty texture of it made it taste very realistic. Thanks Garden Fresh for being the lone fully vegan restaurant in the area. I'd been craving vegan orange chicken for weeks, so I was on the hunt for a Chinese restaurant with good vegan/vegetarian options. I'm really glad I stumbled upon Garden Fresh! It has a small, quaint set-up with a mix of small and large tables. The menu was very extensive and there were a lot of delicious choices to choose from! The entrees and appetizers were both quite reasonably priced. Garden Fresh has a great lunch special deal that comes with rice and is only available on weekdays as well. During our visit, we chose the sweet and sour 'pork' along with the orange glazed chick'n and fried rice. Every item was so tasty and everything complemented each other so well! I loved that Garden Fresh included plenty of fresh vegetables and broccoli in each dish, especially since some restaurants tend to skimp on vegetables when ordering a la carte. I can hear the fire/gas of the wok in the kitchen so you know it's legit. I want to leave this review as a very serious warning for others with food allergies. This restaurant advertises itself as fully vegan, which by definition should mean no eggs, dairy, or other animal products. However, after only a few bites of my meal, I went into a SEVERE anaphylactic reaction due to my egg allergy and had to take emergency measures. This was not a matter of mild cross-contamination--something in the food contained egg or was mislabeled. When a restaurant calls itself vegan, customers should be able to trust that egg and dairy are completely absent. For people with life-threatening allergies, accuracy is not optional. For me, this was not just an inconvenience -- it was a terrifying and dangerous medical emergency. If you have serious food allergies, please be extremely cautious here. I sincerely hope management takes this issue seriously, reviews their ingredient handling, and ensures they are not endangering customers. read more

I've been coming here since I was in high school and the food is fantastic. The menu has evolved and there's newer, creative dishes but there are many oldies but goodies. The hot & sour soup is delicious and opens your sinuses. Today we tried the iron plate tofu and it was delicious. Vegetables were crunchy, the tofu had a braised texture, and the gravy was extremely flavorful. The also have a crispy chow mein that sounds appetizing and I'll have to try it next time. My visit on 10/13 consisted of an order of crunchy (or crispy? can't remember) sesame vegan chicken, Kung Pao chicken, and a side of white rice. Downed it with some jasmine tea with two slices of cake (chocolate and carrot) and my meal for two was complete. It did not disappoint either. You get the classic chow mein flavor, regular oiliness that comes with chow mein, and the chewy "chicken." The last year has been a struggle for most people due to COVID-19. Even more so if you own a small business. I ordered food from Garden Fresh recently and the owner called to check if I needed rice, which was very thoughtful and kind. It is a humble, clean, and modest restaurant, tucked away in a 70s-era strip mall on El Camino. The food here is good, and the food is specifically better in this Mountain View location. Everything is vegan and if you are following a meat-free diet, Garden Fresh is a lifesaver. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal and I have been eating at this location for over 30 years. My most favorite dishes are the Hunan Tofu (this is a spicy tofu and faux ham in a clay pot and sometimes has a different name or is a menu special), the Sweet and Sour Pork (faux pork), the Veggie Duck (faux duck), the scallion pancakes, the eggrolls, the Orange Beef (faux beef), the Veggie Chicken Chow Mein (faux chicken), and the Veggie Ham (faux ham). I will confess, I recently had a moment of a few tears shed when I thought Garden Fresh might close one day (esp. given the current economic situation and COVID-19). Got our Chinese New Year's Eve dinner here. Garden Fresh was only available for pickup/delivery order on Menufy. We opted for pickup. The food was ready in 15 minutes. Upon the pickup, the staff gave me a box of radish cake (萝卜糕) as Chinese New Year's gift. She also patiently taught me how to cook it. All the dishes are delicious. My favorites are the Veggie Ham and the Curry "Chicken". The Veggie Ribs was no less tasty. The Vegi Wontons with Chili Sesame Sauce could be better: the sauce wasn't quite authentic (not spicy yet too sweet) and the wrap was too thick. The radish cake was delicious as well. I've eaten here several times in 2022 and have always been impressed. This is fantastic Chinese food that happens to be vegan. On my first visit, my friend and I were one of 4 tables, with one of the tables being about 8 people. We were amazed and mesmerized that a single woman was able to serve about 14 people at 4 different tables in such a small space with such grace and warmth. On our second visit -- she remembered us and asked us friendly questions -- truly a talent in the memory department. Every time my friend and I visit - we try different dishes and they are all delicious. Covid review: Parking lot is a little small but doable during the dinner rush. You can order online or at the door and then you pick up at the door. The food is absolutely delicious and you cannot tell that it is vegetarian. This has become my go to when I want yummy chinese food when I don't feel like cooking it myself. Everything is vegetarian (vegan?) Friendly and the owners themselves are incredibly nice people. I went for two weeks in a row and she has been incredibly nice every time. Something to keep in mind is that chinese dishes are meant to be shared not eaten individually so during covid it might not be the best idea or.. just save it for leftovers. An experience I had is that she did suggest a different dish than what my boyfriend had originally wanted but it turned out to be a good suggestion because the second time we came, he had the lemon pepper chicken and did not like it. (I absolutely loved it) the singaporean noodles were good too and I highly recommend.
